The southern wall suddenly explodes, sending rubble and dust everywhere! Townspeople begin to scream and flee as goblins race forward through the hole in the wall.

Gale screams at the sight of a man being killed.

"You killed him!"
she shouts, "Murderers!  Feel the wrath of Gale!"

Her eyes erupt with black flame as the shrieking black tendrils of her Grasping Shadows spell burst from the ground under some of the goblins.  Five of the goblins caught in the spell shriek and collapse unconscious.

She then summons a flaming sphere behind some of the other goblins, the heat of which causes them to fall unconscious.

((Yay action points and daily powers.  Grasping shadows creates a zone that lasts until the end of Gale's next turn. Each creature that enters the zone takes psychic damage = her int mod and is slowed until the end of its next turn. ))

Re: Loudwater (F.R. Chapter 1)

Two of the remaining goblin cutters panic and dive under the nearest merchant cart rather than risk running past the dark tendrils of doom or the fireball of fate.

"Spare us!" they cry, "We surrender!"

One of them is a lot more pessimistic about the situation and attacks Gale!

"We're as good as dead anyway!" he says as he runs around the scary-looking Warforged to get at the not-wearing-armor-mage-that-kills-7-goblins-in-one-turn.  Much to his surprise, his sword actually connects and does damage!

Meanwhile, the human named Sunsteen grabs his leg, screams, and drops to the ground.

((From the Monster Manual:
Goblin Cutter - If it dawns on them that they’re losing the battle, they flee, hoping to live to fight another day.

From the F.R. Campaign Guide:
As soon as the goblins become aware of the danger the PCs represent, they focus their attacks on them.

I'd say it's a toss-up, so I let the dice decide for each remaining minion.

A swift shot drops the Goblin next to Gale to the ground as an arrow goes through it's knee.  Not into, through.  It's a very big bow.  A second shot isn't quite so successful as it whips past the Goblin by the well and into the cart behind it's head.

Timothius rushes to the downed townsperson and touches him, reviving the man. Timothius then glares at the goblin who killed the townsperson with a stern look. Because believe me... Timothius pays close attention to things like, oh *murderers*.

Timothius figures whatever the goblins are after, even if it originally belonged to them, it clearly can not be trusted with them now. He charges at the goblin Warrior who smashed the shop window figuring he must be after the "stolen" item. If the goblins are making this much of a fuss over it, the item is clearly dangerous and powerful. "You will surrender at ONCE!" he yells as he swings his blade at the warrior, twisting it at the last moment to hit the goblin with the flat of it.

The goblin Elric and Timothius attacked knows his moments are numbered.  He shouts something in goblin at his ally at the well who runs for the exit then hucks a javelin at Timothius which strikes the Paladin between the plates of his armor, injuring him badly.

The warrior at the window uses the distraction to grab the horn totem from the shop's window display, takes a few steps, hurls it as hard as he can at the goblin Hexer, then makes a break for the exit himself.  Timothius tries to smack the Warrior with the flat of his blade for letting his guard down, but the javelin injury combined with the vexing cloud is enough to make him miss completely.

Joe's lack of reason to attack the hiding Goblins is taken advantage of as he slips between two of the carts (got to love diagonal movement) and comes to a stop right at the edge of the recently made wall entrance.

Unfortunately, both of his shots go wide in his attempt to take down the fleeing warriors.

The warforged cleric then turns to the northeast when the unknown voice demands to know what the hell that 'thing' is as Elric isn't sure if the person is talking about him, or someone else. The warforged's eyes dim slightly at being referred to as a walking suit of armor, as Elric is far more than the attached chain-mail Elric is wearing.

Elric then responds to the voice when asked if the group is okay, “As far as I know, some of us are slightly wounded but nothing immediately life-threatening. I am curious to know why the goblins claimed the villagers were thieves. They said that the horn totem they tried to claim was an item that was stolen from them. I am also concerned about the Ogre King they mentioned, and what that individual might try once it is realized that the raid on the village failed."

"I believe I can answer your first curiosity," a voice from the northeast calls.

An old, white bearded Dwarf steps out of the shop that was burglarized.  He takes a look at the heroes and even his experienced eyes bulge in surprise.  Cat with wings and walking armor indeed!  He puffs excitedly on his pipe.

"A few days ago, Curuvar, the town wizard, sold me the horn totem I heard you mention earlier.  It's a magic 'daggar' of sorts of no small value.  Makes it's bearer able take on foes much larger than themselves.  Especially of value to Dwarves as you might imagine.  Curuvar claimed to have 'found' it on one of his many brazen excursions into the southern barrows."

As the town patrol begins binding the fallen goblins, Garwan and the apparent leader of the patrol approaches the heroes.  Sunsteen seems eager to do the same, but is struggling to keep up with his crutch.

Gale poofs a pillow with prestidigitation, places it on the fallen tree trunk, and sits to tend to her wound.

"Real smart, Gale," she mutters to herself, "Just got new magical armor that could have spared you some pain, and you totally forget to use it!"

"Allow me to introduce my friends," she addresses the approaching people, "This is Elric, a Warforged cleric of Pelor.  The kit...  erm...  Shifter with wings over there is Timothius.  He's a paladin of the Platinum Dragon.  This is Joe, apparently quite the capable archer.  Human if you couldn't guess.  I'm Gale.  Wizard as Mr. Sunsteen mentioned.  Also Human."
