The first goblin next to Dido stands and attacks!  What looked like it would have been a devastating hit turns into nothing somehow.

Move: Stand
G1 v Dido 1d20 +6 >= 23
19 + 6 = 25 ... success

what-if damage 2d10 +5
9 + 6 + 5 = 20

G1 v Dido (2nd chance)

1d20 +6 >= 23
1 + 6 = 7 ... failure

  Terdisas enters view of the room finally, and considers the enemies still standing... oh, all of them are still standing  "Note to self, Tigers can fit better than expected, but are not as dangerous as expected either." With the way it had been played up, both in and out of character, Terdisas had expected the tiger to do a spinning jump kick and decapitate three goblins at once within the first thirty seconds.

  The sorcerer lashes out with lightning at what is probably the Goblin who feels the safest flanked by their allies, and the arc takes out the Goblin who had the audacity to completely fail in harming Dido.  "Of course, I would not doubt Freedom's companion would make short work of myself."  Even these ineffectual goblins had better HP and AC than Terdisas di- wait, Terdisas has better AC?...  uuh...  We're kind of scared now, so used to enemies with superior values across the board.
  Move: To H3
Standard: L Strike Vs Goblin 5, Damnit, rolled a 5 Well, that's convenient. 5+9= 14.
13 Lightning DMG(rolled a two, no problem for Sorcerer!)
Arc to G1, 4 Lightning DMG. KO.

Normally, I would arc through walls every chance I get.  But downing an enemy > personal amusement. (I STILL can't believe they left that in, and errata'd out arcing your allies)

Goblin 3 HP: 53-13= 40/53
Goblin 1 HP: 2-4= KO

  One of the goblins considered some unfortunate facts.  He was now the closest to the enemy.  He had his allies to one side, and fire on the other.  Sure, he'd have his back to the wall and nowhere to run soon enough...  But screw getting closer to the enemy voluntarily.

  He swapped out his axe for his crossbow, and took a shot at the less likely to get pissed off and kill him (HAH!) Gnome of a target, they aren't expecting much with only 1d6+2 DMG, but they are rewarded by Kitau apparently exploding from existence.  "...I should shoot this thing more often."
  Minor: stow Axe.
Minor: Draw Crossbow.
Standard: Crossbow Vs Kitau, Hits (23 AC). Oh dear, 3 DMG.

Effects: Kitau's Fade Away triggers.  Kitau Invisible.

Kitau: 43-3= 40/45

Callie enters the room, just in front of Terdisas. She then raises her hands, and calls out, "The fight is ours!" as Kitau and Mittens' wounds close up and the others in the room feel fantastic like they would have healed if they were wounded.


Move: F3 to H4
Standard: Hymn of Resurgence v Bugbear, Goblin2 and 5. Hit(20)! Hit(17)! Hit(17)!

Target takes a -2 to all defenses. Whenever an ally hits the target before the end of your next turn, the target is knocked prone.
Effect: Each ally in blast can choose to either gain 5 temporary HP, or make a saving throw.

I see nobody is suffering conditions needing a save throw, so I'll just heal the wounded.


Mittens, Kitau and Freedom all gain 5 thp.

Another goblin enters the room and panics. "MONSTER!" it says of Freedom and his tiger. It fires a bolt at Freedom's tiger, which goes wide and bounces off a wall.


Move: J10 to K8
Standard: Crossbow v Freedom's tiger. Miss(10)

The goblin can take comfort in that rolling that low would miss anything?

"Lure itzazu hall sartu!" one of the skullcleavers says while taking a shot at Mittens, but the bolt deflects off a mysterious holy barrier!  It then slinks back into the hallway and disappears.

G4 v tens (with cover from tiger) 1d20+4 >= 18
18 ... success! fail due to Dido's buff!

Move to M10.  stealth 1d20 +9
14 + 9 = 23

"Thanks for the boosts," Mittens says when the short holy types buff her, "I get the feeling I'm going to need every little bit I can get in the next few seconds."

"Nodon'trun!" Mits says as she fires a scorching burst at the clumped up foes just after one slips away into the hallway, "Kaboom!  Two for th..."

"MATAR!" one of the goblins screams in a blood rage!

"sheesh.  you'd think i'd kicked it's puppy or something."

She gestures and a person sized spinning cylinder of flaming blades appears at the exit!

"Well you'll not be escaping out that way.  So... surrender!"

Mits SB v g2,3,5 1d20 +10 >= 14
1: 17 + 10 = 27 ... success
2: 10 + 10 = 20 ... success
3: 1 + 10 = 11 ... failure

Minor: Spectral Image in L9

An Illusion of a Creature/Object up to Medium Size appears
within Range 10.  It can make sounds and move in it's tile, but can 't leave.
10 all Defenses. Illusion lasts until End of Enc, or hit, or touched/moved through.
  An insight check (DC 15+Half LV)= 17, allows Creature to determine it's fake.

G2 HP: 34-14=20

Knowing that he isn't the only paladin in the group Freedom remarks, “Finish off that bugbear, We'll keep the three goblins preoccupied,” as Freedom and the tiger he is riding shifts to the southeast, adjacent to the three goblins that are still in the room.

The Celestial Battle Tiger then takes a nasty bite out of the bloodied goblin (G2) as Freedom warns, “Creatures of darkness that flee from the light will still get burned.”

[OOC: Move Action: Tiger/Freedom shifts to J6,J7,K6,K7, with Freedom at K7 placing G2, G3, and G5 within his defender's aura so if they shift or attack someone other than freedom (including the tiger) they will eat 6 Radiant Damage. (Moving to a square adjacent to the tiger can end up triggering both the punishment for Freedom's defender aura and the tiger's immediate reaction, as one is opportunity action, other is immediate reaction.)
Standard Action: Tiger: Bite G2, 1d20+10->11+10 beats the G2's AC of 16-2, and deals 10 damage leaving G2 with 20HP-10=10HP left.

Dido moves forward and says, "Mittens, back up! I realize it's a small room and you're trying to make room for the rest of us, but please be careful!"

He then smacks the bugbear a good one on his thigh! "I am your opponent!"

It swings at Dido, but his weapon bounces harmlessly off Dido's shield.

The goblin skullcleaver eyes the bugbear skeptically but backs up into Mittens' illusion, making it vanish!

"Meh.  They saw through my ruse," Mits complains, "Sure thing, Dido."

The skullcleaver takes a shot at Dido and misses.

Kitau slashes at the bugbear then steps north.  The bugbear falls prone from some divine force!

Kitau twin v Bugbear w CA 1d20 +11 >= 18
1: 6 + 11 = 17 ... failure hits due to Callie's debuff!
2: 9 + 11 = 20 ... success

5 + 6 + 4 + 1 + 4 = 20

  Terdisas partially descends the stairs for a better angle at the down but not out leader of these jerks.
  "...  Hmm, I can not think of anything cool to say, alas"  So said, the sorcerer waves his staff and the Bugbear get's hammered by a sudden and very tiny ice storm, freezing them to the ground and knocking them out cold...

  Waaait a minute, that was at last two cold puns right there already.

  Standard:  Frostbind vs Bugbear. Hits.  21 Ice DMG, whooo exact KO.

  Okay, he could do this.  The Goblin had been drilled in just this sort of apparently hopeless situation.  Step one, drop crossbow.  Step two, draw axe.  Step three, take a final swing out of spite because if you don't cut off someone's head, your boss will cut off yours.

  And it would have worked too, if not for Dido's Divine Sanction spam causing what would otherwise be a last ditch miracle hit from the Goblin to merely glance off Freedom's helmet.  Before they start smoking from sudden radiant damage.  "...pretty sure something metaphysical hates me right now.".
Free: Drop hand crossbow.
Standard: Melee Basic Vs Freedom.  Rolled a 17 on the D20, so Exactly hits 23 AC.  Yeeesh these guys suck. Even with their bloodied damage bonus. 18 DMG. Ah, right. Dido Mark overrides Freedom Defender aura.  IRONY.  Seth was complaining about Dido's marking extravaganza negating his aura.  But it's thanks to that very thing which kept G2 from pulling a miracle hit and taking out over a third of his HP.

Also, we had to dig up and look up what the heck divine sanction actually does and how it works since not on Dido Sheet at all, just 'these powers cause divine sanction'.  Turns out, as says on Dido sheet, Valorous Smite causes Divine Sanctions all over the place.  So Dido did better than plain marks he listed.

Effects:  Divine Saction Ouch from Dido, 7 Radiant DMG.

Goblin 2 HP: 10-7= 3

Callie heads down the stairs in case she'll need to move more soon. She then blasts the east most goblin with holy fire, making the goblin drop unconscious. Terdisas then feels invigorated by this attack.

Standard: Sacred Flame v G2. Hit(15)!
 dmg: 5
 Terdisas gains 4 temp hp.

Freedom's blade fills with radiant energy as he swings his sword at the only Goblin still in the room as the blade flashes with divine light as the radiant energy bursts forth engulfing and searing the Goblin while lifting Callie's heart with renewed vigor and purpose. “This one is dazed so he can't stop anyone from chasing down his friend. My tiger and I will finish him off if he hasn't surrendered by the time my Holy Smite has worn off. Just deal with his friend.”

[OOC: Standard Action: Strike of Hope: hits G3 19+11=30 (almost a crit) Callie gains 3 Temporary Hit points and G3 takes 9 radiant damage.
Free Action: Holy Smite, G3 takes 5 more radiant damage and is dazed until the end of Freedom's next turn.
G3 has 25-(9+5)=11hp left and dazed.
Move Action and Minor Actions are left unused.
This goblin has to know he's screwed, if he tries to shift my tiger hits him, he he tries to run, the tiger still hits him and Freedom gets to join in on the slaughter...after all he can't move diagonally around the corner. Remember he's dazed not stunned so he should be able to surrender, or try one last attempt to smack Freedom or the tiger.]

An eerie stillness lays in the air as the room grows suddenly completely silent.


Figured out where the confusion was.  Had applied the damage to the wrong monster.  Since Terdisas was the least recent player to post, his turn is up now.  Followed by Freedom, Tim's chars, then my chars.

  For such a straightforward ambush (in their favor for once), that had seemed particularly confusion an affair.

  "Well, I suppose if we can not appeal to a survivor's better nature for information, we can threaten to feed them to Freedom's tiger...  Without telling them they may be below the Tiger's tastes at least."  Sure, the sorcerer's Diplomacy roll was higher than his intimidate roll.  But sometimes raw facts like 'Angry Tiger' can be better than skill modifiers.
