Quartilia

Welcome to the world of Quartilia. According to legend, the goddess Antowas created the world. She slept and an evil being named Jerado tried to take the world over. Antowas awoke and defeated him. But she slept again. And has been asleep so long now that what was once history is now Legend. Some believe. Some don't. Those that believe feel that Jerado has escaped his bonds and is re-awakening evil in the world.

Today, we start in the forest of Tro. It is made of trees that have no branches. Simply one large bud at the top of each tree. The buds that have blossomed display a large, shiny gemstone. It is late, raining and dark.

Setting is strongly inspired by the video game Astal. Here's some screenshots:

See that giant bud in the background towards the left side of the pic? That's what the forest you all are in is full of.

Here's the wiki on Astal. Yes, I stole the names of the gods. What of it?

Re: Quartilia

Donovan sighs as it begins to rain.  He was hoping to reach a town by now, his fault for starting his travelign when he did.  Anywho, he pauses to look up at the canopy to see how much rain is making it past the tree tops.

"Somehow I can imagine the ancestors enjoying a good chuckle at my expense right about now."  The fox-haired human sighs and shifts his glaive and pack before starting to walk again.  Sticking to the path is a safe bet, right?  Right?

Re: Quartilia

Not far down said road is a hooded figure seated at the base of a tree, leaned against it.  He's idly smoking a pipe who's smoke smells more like burning cedar than tobacco.  He hums a tune to himself and puffs a ring of smoke into the rain.

Re: Quartilia

Singing a tune as she walks, a fox comes walking through the forest of Tro. The fox, standing 3' tall, is wearing bardic gear, but has a tarp-like cape overtop her head, backpack, and sides, completely protecting her from the rain. She has her tail curled up close to her so it too won't get wet. The vixen pauses to take a gander at something she is holding in her hand. Between night time and rain, vision isn't its best, but the two others will likely hear her singing since she isn't bothering to be quiet about it.

(OOC: Tune Emmy is singing, just imagine a girly voice singing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYqIDoUzang )

Re: Quartilia

Donovan has no such hood or cape for rain. As he approaches the pipe smoking hooded figure, he hrms softly.  What could a person be waiting out in the rain for?  He calls out, "Greetings!  Would you happen to know of shelter from the rain a traveler might be able to rest in until the weather passes?"  Then there's singing?  He begins to wonder just how well traveled this road is.

Re: Quartilia

The figure pulls back his hood to get a better look up at the stranger from where he's seated.  Under the hood is a plate mail helmet, decorated with the symbol of Antowas.  The helmet frames the face of an orange dragonborn with a white chin and neck.

"My you're a tall one," the formerly hooded dragonborn says with a friendly smile and a puff of smoke, "Shelter?  Not for a long ways that I know.  Unless you'd count this hood of mine.  If you want it, it's yours for the modest donation of one silver to the Church of Antowas.  Either way, m'name's Joey.  Paladin of Antowas.  And what may I call you, sir?"

He takes another draw from his pipe and hums along with the approaching music while taking off his hooded cape, expecting the human to take him up on the offer to buy it.

(( OOC: Changeling as the base race...  I'm gunna run with it.  This fox comes from a nation of dragonborn, so that's the shape he usually takes.  :)  ))

Re: Quartilia

Emerald can hear and see the voices up ahead. She isn't sure who they are or what they want. So she assumes her halfling form, looking enough like a human child to be mistaken for one at a distance. Mostly in case these strangers hate halflings and she suddenly has to play human.

When she comes into view, she is peaking from behind a tree. All the two can really tell about her is she is cute, seems humanoid, and has the aforementioned tarp over her. They can't even see the red hair yet as it's dark and rainy. She doesn't approach, but she does speak up. "Hello there. Hail, Joey, Paladin of Antowas! Hail, un-named traveler! My name is Emerald. Didn't know I would cross anyone along this path..."

Re: Quartilia

Donovan hmms? at Joey a moment, regarding his words. "Paladin of Antowas you say?  If you speak the truth then I certainly would like to call upon you as a friend and would gladly donate five gold pieces to the church."  Though the armor may say one thing, true idenity can be concealed.  No harm in being a little cautious around strangers, right?

The human looks over to Emerald and gives a wave in greeting before answering Joey's question, "I am Donovan Daldante, pleased to meet you both."

Re: Quartilia

"Well hello, Madam Emerald," Joey greets with a friendly smile, "What a lovely voice you have.  I was enjoying that song of yours."

He looks surprised at Donovan.

"Five gold you say?  How generous!  May Antowas dream of your lifelong success, Sir Daldante!"

He rises to one knee and offers up the hooded cape with a humble bow like someone offering a crown to a king.  His armor now exposed, he sure fits the description of the stereotypical paladin in shining armor complete with a huge shield with an equally huge symbol of his deity on it.  If Joey's a fake, he sure went all out with the costume.

"Or do you prefer I address you in some other manner?"

Re: Quartilia

Seeing the two not becoming hostile, Emerald approaches, keeping huddled under her tarp. "A holy man and a warrior." the glaive makes that warrior bit obvious, you know. "Thank you for your kind words. Perhaps I'll continue the song later."

The sound of the bloomed crystals can be heard as very distant thunder rolls.

(The crystal blooms sound kind of like the clattering ice in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...t=PL204909D111019874 )

Re: Quartilia

"You're most welcome, Mam," Joey answers with a polite nod to Emerald, "Looking forward to hearing more.  So what brings you two to this neck of the woods?  I came out here just to enjoy Antowas' creation and perhaps find some good deed to do."
