Game System Brainstorm: Cliff Notes

Here is the cliff notes of what we've brainstormed for a while. The idea is to have the brainstorming simplified, yet have references to where to find said brainstorming in case you might wanna see the details. For purposes of THIS post, they are listed in chronological order. I will see about listing them by category later.

Thread: Brainstorming a new game system.
Msg #1
- Only a critical fail roll misses. Even then, maybe not.
- One roll needed.  No separate rolls for to-hit and damage.
- PCs get better goodies than NPCs.
- Option: Dispute between player and GM over rules -> resolved with a dice roll.
- If a PC "dies" they get continues, extra lives, etc.
- 3 basic stats like in BESM.  Brains, Physical, and Mystical junk.

Msg #2
- No micro managing
- Earn in-game fame
- Power source only effects your backstory, not your capability. Think CoX.
- Travel powers
- Primary Power Set (Roll d12's), Secondary (Roll d10's), Tertiary (Roll d8's), and so on. Use the dice people own.
- Optional movement rules
- Get a goody EVERY level

Msg #3
- Believability vs. story driven.
Msg #4
- Approach this as if all your players will be min/maxers and bad/evil GMs.
- Hit Roll=Damage Roll=Evil.
- Auto hit BAD
- Nobody likes losing control of their character. If you do, may as well be an NPC.
- Inherent = Magic Item of same level
- (Extra thoughts on Travel powers)
- No NPC should be out of harm's way.
- Static levels. Even newcomers should be same level.

Quick Tim thought: Like in CoX. Lower level doesn't mean you can't be useful to a higher level team. Just don't have as many goodies.
- NO disadvantages in exchange for points.
- Equality: GMs, PCs, NPCs, should all be built without hypocrisy.

Msg #5
- Race/Origin grants no stat bonuses.
- "Rule #1: GM can break the rules whenever he feels like." can die in a fire.
- GOD stat can die in a fire (Such as dodge in D6)
- Everyone is always "taking a turn", be it rolling dice or otherwise.
- RP best practices (Such as "Do not let OOC spill into IC or vice-versa.")
