Re: Pokémon

Jake's pokedex makes a strange modulated sound ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7NrFdfQdFk ) and displays information on his newest "friend."

"So uh... is it bad form to talk to it before we take it to be healed up at a poke-center?"

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," Joey answers, licking his wounds.

"Right.  Directly to a poke-center it is, then."

He heads off.

Re: Pokémon

After healing up Joey and the bellsprout at the pokécenter, Jake soon has the bellsprout out and about.

The bellsprout "dusts himself off" with his leafy appendages. "Well... nicely fought, vulpix."

Joey nods to the bellsprout.

"Likewise, sir.  Thou art a worthy adversary.  The name is Joey.  And this is M'Lord Jake."

Jake blushes a little.  "I'm not royalty."

"I try to see the nobility in all, my friend."

Re: Pokémon

The bellsprout says, "My name is Humfry."

Liberty says, "And I'm Liberty. This is Relic, Joe, and Max."

Humfry says, "So I'm Jake's pokémon now, eh? Alrighty. Maybe I can help you guys find more pokémon to join your team. There's plenty of bellsprouts in the area you found me. Along with some weedles and caterpi."

OOC: ...surprised the clash of Joe and Joey hasn't come up in RP before. Magically, Chris' paladin has never been in the same team as one of Will's many Joes.

"Well met, sir Humphrey!  I thank thee for the helpful tip.  I do believe the plan was to capture at least six pokemon per human."

Jake nods and fiddles with his pokedex, looking up the bug types mentioned.

"So maybe we should have a plan or something next time.  Like... at least who's turn it is to do the capturing."

"We go by which one of us they insult more, if Humfry is any indication?  Or would that be just silly?"  "Not any more silly than me wanting less flamable partners, considering I'd have to beat them up first."

Growlithes and Sandshrews, Version red buddies!

OOC: Fun Fact.  I started using Joe more than Matt not just because Joe was usually my more Humanish characters (reploids count!), but because of "Matt the Mobian hanging out with Matt Seth's Human".

"If you're worried about hurting your future allies too much, why not stick to normal, non-fire attacks like Joey did?" Jake suggests.

"I'm sure Humfry didn't mean any offense by his challenge," Joey offers, "You going next is fine with me, Liberty."

Re: Pokémon

Fast forwarding a bit, the trio wind up bumping into wild Pokémon. Liberty winds up catching a caterpie while Joe manages to catch a weedle. Liberty's caterpie has an adorable voice (Like Catbug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnZdiR7YbN4 ). The caterpie interduces himself as "Kozak the Ninja" and seems excited about "perfecting his skills" under Liberty.

After some trial and error, the group eventually has to make camp. By now, they have each caught 2 Pokémon (in addition to starters).

Liberty's current Pokémon:
Relic (Cubone Male Lvl 4)
Kozak the Ninja (Caterpie Male Lvl 2)
Rina (Nidoran Female Lvl 2)

Liberty finishes setting up the tent while the boys finish gathering wood and setting a fire. "Camp with my buddies... this is fun!"

Kozak says in his adorable voice, "I can hide in the grass and keep an eye out for intruders..."

Rina just kind of rolls her eyes.

OOC: Up to you guys what you caught out there, but I'd recommend lowbie Pokémon such as Pidgey, Spearow, Nidoran, and other such.

Fun fact... this was Liberty's Pokémon when I last logged into Pokémon Saga:

Relic (Cubone L-32) <-- Always her starter. Played by me.
Deadeye (Houndoom L-25) <-- Played by Kalinka/Jim Roessel
Thunderbolt (Lupion L-65) <-- Played by Rick/Zero
Sissy (Jigglypuff L-18) <-- Another "caught" NPC played by me.
Faia (Typhlosion L-54) <-- Played by a player not me, but dunno more than that.
Firestreak (Charizard L-40) <-- Played by Razorwind
Dire (Snubbull L-7) <-- Another "caught" NPC played by me.
Piro (Charizard L-36) <-- Played by a friend of Rick's.

Re: Pokémon

Jake wound up with a Weedle named Buzzkill who was eager to pick up a trainer but only if he proved his pokemon to be worthy opponents.  Fire pokemon prove handy for starting a campfire of all thins.  Jake helps with the tent and smiles at Lib's comment.

"My family camps together a lot.  It's lots of fun."

Buzzkill nods to Kozak.  "Intruders will regret crossing us!"

Re: Pokémon

In a surprise to nobody (in the OOC sense), Joe ended up with a Pidgey going by Superbird.  Said bird was still convinced he totally would have won had Max not finally managed to hit a flying target.  "Your aim is terrible, pidge.  I suppose you coulda taken down plant boy, but I did it after being lit on fire."   Superbird had wizened up and did more than just leer the entire fight trying to annoy his enemy into submission on his post catch test run.

"I can not learn to shoot sun lasers fast enough..."  Don't worry Megasaurd, Max and Superbird will be begging for your help once those rock and water gyms turns up.

Rina looks at Megasaurd and says, "Well when you do, lemme know how you did learn to do that."

A few stories later at the campfire, Liberty turns in for the night.
Around midnight, Buzkill and Kozak (and any others who took night shift) spot what looks like a Pokémon lurking about in the shadows.

Joe wakes with a facepalm, as Max and Megasaurd try to decide if this is worth enthusiasm or falling back to sleep.

"Nice shot!" Kozak compliments as Buzzkill's string hits its mark!

Liberty sits up and rubs at her eyes with her fists.
Relic looks unamused. Oh wait... cubones ALWAYS look unamused.
Rina is barely awakened.

The intruder is revealed to be an Eevee and his big, watering eyes as he looks like he's going to cry.

"State your business, Intruder!" Buzzkill demands.

"Now now, Buzzkill," Jake gently reprimands, "No need to be so forceful with someone in obvious need of help."

He turns to the Evee.  "My name is Jake.  Me and my friends are on a Pokemon journey.  You look upset.  How can I help you?"

Joey and Humfry wake and investigate.

Max and Megasaurd decide the answer is 'go back to sleep', and do so.

Superbird rights himself and hops over, "I'm going to guess sticky stuff all over his fur is the problem, pidge.  It's such a hassle to clean."

Joe wonders if Crying lowering someone else's defense is A Thing with pokemon?  Wait, no, that's everyone.

The Eevee responds, "I'm hungry... and I smelled food here."

Liberty says, "I can spare some food." and goes to pick up the Eevee. She feeds the Eevee before bothering to untangle him. "What's your name?"

"My name is Ever." the Eevee responds between bites.

"I'd offer to help, but... I doubt fire is a welcome solution to your sticky situation," Joey says.

Jake looks stumped too.  Buzzkill looks proud of himself when Superbird affirms his guardian prowess.  He sweatdrops at the soft skull comment and begins eating the thread he used to bind Ever.

"If you'd like a consistent food supply and exceedingly protective friends, you could always join us," Jake suggests.
