Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

"Nice work, everyone.  Maybe we just muscle through and nevermind fancy tactics."

He steps down the stairs a bit and takes an intimidating pose and glows a bit.

"Stop gnawing on Gnara!"

Slash!  A deep gash is cut in the drake's hide!

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

Hazel dials his runes counterclockwise and Gnara's wounds heal up while everyone feels stronger. "I'm game." he says before whipping the drake with his chain past his allies and rips some flesh off the drake. "So why is Rhagar getting worked up about these things when they aren't any more dangerous than kobolds?"

Gnara stabs the drake and laughs. "No more dangerous than kobolds! HAhahahaha!" the drake proves her point by somehow still standing after all this abuse.

But it is too hurt and nips at Nathaniel weakly. Maybe Nathaniel has some angelic anti-drake aura that causes drakes to not hit him?

Before Rhagar can answer, the surviving Drake catches one of Rhagar's daggers in it's teeth, bites the blade off, and starts chewing.

Nathan finishes off the drake.

"We can go over the zooligy lesson once we're sure we're no longer in danger.  Hey kobolds!  Your pets are dead!  Surrender yet?"

No apparent answer. Gnara giggles. "Looks like they are just standing there, waiting for us to come to them..."

Rhagar quietly flaps around to the opposite ledge, and barely sees the kobold standing near the bottom of the stairs.

This time around, it is far easier to kill a minion with a difficult angle than one right in front of him.

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

Gnara vanishes from Nathan and Hazel's sight and appears next to Rhagar, giggling darkly before rushing down the stairs and pressing up against the wall, ready to attack.

Hazel waits for Nathaniel. This whole "let the tank defend" thing really is working out nicely.

Nathan rounds the corner to three kobolds.

"Shoulda stayed behind cover."

Sure enough, ouch!  Lots of pain from kobold attacks!  He retaliates by gashing the skirmisher's forehead, some of the blood trickling down to interfere with his vision!

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

Hazel hops down the stairs and does the rune thing again. Nathan's wounds heal some and everyone feels stronger again! He then charges the kobold, twirling his chain and slamming it down on him!

The two kobolds attack again and both miss. The one in front of Nathan misses so bad, he doesn't even swing at Nathan due to blood in the eyes.

Rhagar flaps down the stairs, and flicks a dagger through the eye of the barely standing skirmisher.

"So far, there has been one kobold who actually surrenders in each fight.  So far, those are the only ones still alive."

Gnara tosses that shadow noose at the remaining kobold, but misses. However, she teleports to be next to him and giggles at him.

The remaining slinger says, "I surrender! I surrender!"

Rhagar retrieves his previously thrown sharp objects.  He looks over to Nathaniel, but the paladin looks much better now that Hazel has done his thing.

"I expect, something more troublesome than the last few minutes.  Although, I am sure anyone could tell that much."

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

The kobold says, "You see that boulder over there? You see the ditches in the room? The boulder will be pushed towards the ditches and will roll around that central area until the others decide to stop it. Which they won't until you're dead. The central area has a room inside it with no roof, so you could potentially climb up the wall and get inside."

Hazel asks, "How do you stop the boulder?"

The kobold answers, "I don't know."

Gnara says, "So charge in again?"

"Must be magical if it keeps rolling around without anything pushing it," Nathan concludes, "So it'll be on a timer or you have to say a magic word to stop it.  Who makes a room that you have to climb a wall to get into?  Is there no other way into the center room?"

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

"I would assume there is a door on another side, if locked.  Though yes, an open top does make this easier for us."  Man, this mini dungeon really was built to prolong traditional melee combat PC's from being able to do anything as long as possible, wasn't it?

Maybe the place had been built by a wizard?

"Nathanial or I can land on the ledge, and Gnara can teleport up to us... I am open to suggestions for Hazel beyond waiting for the boulder to not be heading for where he needs to go to move."

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

Yes. This dungeon WAS built by a wizard. The one the group is about to fight.

"Oh right... yeah, it has a door. To the east side. But it's barred from the inside. It would be easier for tall folk like you to climb walls than to smash in the doors. Also, our boss is in this room often. So you can expect to fight a powerful wizard!"

Hazel shrugs. "I've been doing well enough to keep us alive while Nathan keeps me alive."

Gnara giggles. "Indeed..."

Nathan flies up to the ledge / wall and an energy orb flies past him.

"Wizard is on a platform across the room," he says, "Two slingers in here."

He then disappears over the edge and a yelp can be heard coming from one of the two slingers.

"They have ladders!"

Hazel heads into the room, goes to the corner of the central area, and waits for his chance to jet into the room.

Readies move into room for when door is open.

The kobold NOT next to Nathan climbs the ladder near himself and then slings a pot at Nathan, missing him!

The kobold next to Nathan expertly hops away from him and then climbs the ladder, then slings a pot at Nathan, but nearly hits himself with it. "Eek! You no take candle!"

Gnara becomes insubstantial again, teleports up to the slinger, giggles, and stabs him through the gut!

Re: Kobold Hall test (Gnara and Hazel)

The oddities of level 1 combat as well as +4 Prof bonus thanks to class features mean a roll of 4 is still all that is needed to introduce a dagger into the brain of a Slinger.

That over with, he Rhagar silently flaps up beside Gnara, at which point he sees another drake so quickly hurls a gluepot, smashing against the Drake's skull and sticking it to the ground.
Standard: Sly flourish, amazingly still hits Slinger, Dead.
Move: Fly sneaky.
ACTION POINT: ranged basic gluepot vs drake. hits, 13 DMG (sneak) and immoblized.

Drake HP: 16/29

The drake struggles and then breaks free!

The kobold wyrmpriest curses in draconic and then mutters some magic words. Every kobold in the room and the drake all get a white aura about them and they all shift with excitement! He then fires an energy orb at Rhagar, grazing the draconian!

Nathan opens the door for Hazel.

"Might be good to come down here where they can't target us," he suggests to the other two.

Javelin to the slinger!

"So far only one kobold out of each encounter had the brains to surrender.  Are you that kobold?"

Hazel hurls his chain up at the slinger, and rips some of the guy's leg off. Even as he does, he turns the dial counter-clockwise.

The slinger says, "I SURRENDER! CATCH ME!" and jumps at Hazel. Hazel catches the kobold and says, "Good choice. I'll heal you up later." and sets the slinger down.

Gnara giggles and rather than teleport, she runs around the wall tops and then snatches the wyrmpriest with her shadow-noose and yanks! The wyrmpriest is visibly injured, but goes prone to keep from falling into the floor below. "EEP!"

Gnara grins wide and chuckles.

Rhagar silently drops down from the wall, and stalks around to the corner in order to flick a shuriken at the Spiretop drake, landing it in the back of the beast's open mouth.

Uh, wait we need a one liner.  Um... Looks like... It couldn't stomach that? No? damnit this is hard.
