Re: Kilani - Peace Force Headquarters
"Hmmm. I see." With Jedevra's nod of satisfaction, the crushing pressure of her compulsion suddenly, mercifully fades. She smiles a small, indulgent smile, and places one of her steamed buns on Kilani's plate. "That man is Aron Delsus, if I recall. I will ask him myself what he knows of Lilea Sorune. One can only hope she has not run off with Freerunners or heretics," she muses ponderously. Would Delsus get in trouble now, simply for associating with Kilani?
Nia, witnessing this exchange, finally gives into her own shame for having intruded and flees for the kitchen. "I... I'm sorry, miladies!"
Jedevra shakes her head, watching the servant go, and continues to muse aloud while she eats. "Weakness of the blood... That is a woman who will never aspire to more than serving others. And there is nothing wrong with that. Only those with the blood of Dragons can truly emulate the Immaculate Dragons themselves, and guide the masses toward a greater purpose."
"It is a shame fate has dealt you a cruel blow, Kilani. For you have no place in our Coils, except to be shackled to them." Kilani, as a native to Coils, knows the general story of the Dragon-blooded entering the Five Coils. As told to her, the world far above was embroiled in a cataclysmic war with the Anathema that ultimately destroyed their ancestral home, the Blessed Isle, and cast them out of it. The people of the old Dynasty wandered, until the elders of the time had an epiphany. Perhaps guided by the Immaculate Dragons themselves, they came across the fortress known as Five Coils. Its fabulous powers were revealed to them, and they realized they could live here safely, recuperate, build their numbers and strengthen their armies. Here was born the concept of enslaving the Celestials that Exalted among them, so as to keep them from willfully destroying their new society.
Since then, Five Coils has been home. But one day, the Dragon-blooded will rise once more with a grand army empowered by magitech and sorcery, and take back the Blessed Isle once and for all. Or so the story goes -- yet it has been nearly 300 years since then. Memories have faded into legend. Who can really say which is true, and which has been fabricated to keep the citizens docile?
"But do not fret. You can still do good, even as you are. As long as you submit to the collar, the Anathema curse within you can be controlled, and all will be safe from it."
