I like to think the Gods have a sense of humor.  I hope so.  It's hard to tell sometimes. I am glad you shared.  That can be another way to understand if Mina is saying anything to us.

As the food arrives Lafisual is also noticeably delighted.  He takes a deep breath to take in the ambient flavor and smiles back at her.  He eats slowly with the knowledge that this could be the last worry free slow meal for awhile.

In reply to getting ready to leave (msg # 132):

Brie watches the server with a careful eye as she displays her rack to him.  She gives a low groan of annoyance.  She reaches for some of the food and caffe.

Yes, I introduced him to Ivy in hopes he would get enough information to join us before we depart.

She takes a bite of food and watches as the unit members slowly trickle in.

Will we be waiting for this second group to show up or are we moving on?

Re:  Shattered Blade Inn Razorhawk Village

Kree looks around, Rolf is by the hearth  staying mostly quiet as was his wont.

Well... it would seem every one is here now, save the  new fellow  Ivy   and Brie  spoke with?

Ivy takes another bite of toasted bread, with out raising his head.

Eat well... for we  will push hard through the forest.. we will stopp As it  Grows  dark... It has been a few years since we  with take the North road.. there are some smaller  Villages   about....I am sure they will allow us rest there...but we only have besties  to worry about in here... if we are attacked  by anyhtg else..then something will be amiss...

..we have a Mission, rather then a contract this time.... we will be searching for a missing  unit of Arrows

he  Pulls out the Map  and places it  on the table , inviting  them to look at it.....we have a long trek through The Timber.. the path will be faster for us, then outlanders, butonly by a day or so

..When we  reach here..... he  taps the map in the  trees  that is in line with the City of Mok.. we  will begin to  jounry through the grasslands.... until we  reach the banks of the Lather River.... then travel down the banks until we reach the Mok Ferry..it was suggested to me, that we check Mok..for sign of   the missing Arrows... whther they are hunting something..or have been taken there?... if  we do not  find  any trace there.. we will have to make out way to the Trace Wood... That is  were CAptain Carn and his Arrows  do thier work, most of the time....but, it is also the territory of the other missing  Unit...Carn claims no idea of what happened... i should think he should....

Tapping his finger on Mok, and sliding it down the  bank towards the BlackTimber, Kree says,..The Grasslands here...more or less , belong to the   BlackTimber people.... Cat folk? well...they do not see it that way... there is a good bet we will run into them..... The  Desert folks  are , more or less good people.. The great desert has  turned them dark skinned?....the men... for some reason..wear alot  more  jewerly then the women....and?  the women can fight   with a blade and bow , rather  well, for humans...but , as in all folk... the desert Raiders  as  as bad, if not worse then the  slavers   around out lands.. or   river pirates.... they will know  we are a merc  company.. and they will know what our mark stands  for...so we wil find  enemies..without looking too hard.

The Lather  river.. does not  have many serpents , but they have odd looking  reptiles... lond snouts with teeth...

Ivy's muffled  words......look like bloody green logs...

  Kree smiles,..any questions?

Kree  looks  at the new Fellow,We shall see as we travel, We try to limit our use of Mounts, they tend to give us  away, though we have a  pair in the  group....when we reach the Grasslands, we  will use the  scouts  and flankers....

With a nod to Luthien, Kree says, We may have to search Mok, for something to aid you, should  we be force to travel the Sands. I for one, am not eager to wander too deeply into those wastes.

Kree nods,...Aye... Most of us  have  Leather.... even that may be too hot  for the  sands ... we shall see... we may have to  buy   clothing , the desert folk use?...

Ivy  struggles to  sit up,..cousin?  I wil never know, how you were blessed, by the sisters.. to drink   Elven Gold..and keep your head on your shoulders...

He nodded to Luthien,..maybe  ...you'll  be able to purchase elevn Chain somewhere..it is hard to come by...and folk will not part with it easily...

..There are reasons    That  trhe Sand folk and lands of  Ironmound  do not war.... they cannot  exploy there horses  as they wish, in the grasslands  and   forests... our troops cannot   stand long, in the  desert wastes.....still?.. Bands  of the  darkskinned folks have raided the lands, Just as bands of the Empire's folks raid theirs....

I have  My gear here....Gather what you wish to take, and let us be one our  way... As he says this... the server Gril  comes out of the back  with  two hot loaves of bread,, wrapped in towels, giving one each to Kree and Ivy.. Kree inturn, gives her the towel he had  from Tou

I guess we had best be ready for tomorrow.  I will see you in the morning.  He smiles at Shadow as he lingers a little finishing up his tea.  Excusing himself he heads to his room for the night.

The next morning Lafisual finds himself refreshed and heads down where he joins the others for breakfast.

Brie had gathered her items and made adjustments to accommodate for their next set of travel plans.  She’d never been to anything warmer than a hot springs pooling.

She looked to Kree and Ivy.  Anything else we need aside from our standard issued necessities? Water? More food?

She was more than willing to carry anything additional they may need.

Well, you have seen some of the Balck Timber's  Elven chain, Near as light  as my leathers and breathable... I do not know how it would do in the desert. But  the Wardens  do not sweat overly much...

..we  will not   be able to buy one of those  suits...even, Myself or Ivy. They make them for  the Wardens..if one dies, it goes back to the armory for the next fellow..should the enemy capture a set..they are hunted  down  and killed.

Ivy takes a deep drink of his  caffe,..ablout the only time the  wardens leave the bloody forest.

Kree begins to carefuly  put the wraped loaf of bread into his  pack,...we should not have to worry on  food. The forest will provide, and the Grasslands  will have  game

"Well, I do not sweat much in my plate, except when the weather is truly overly hot. My heritage helps with some of that, but it is not foolproof."

Luthien seems to be concerned about the desert all the same.

"But if the Wardens keep it for their own use, then it is an impractical solution anyway. The mail here will be sized for elves, and I am somewhat bigger to begin with."

Luthien's 6'4" frame tends to be a good bit taller and sturdier than his elven friends.

In reply to Kree Quickshadow (msg # 152):

Lucy had been to the desert in the past.  It was not a pleasant experience.

"Bring all the water you can.  But drink it slowly." She said.

"The heat will bake you, no matter what you armor you were.  Dress in light colors, such as White, light browns.  They tend to reflect the sunlight." She said, offering advice from her own experience.

"I don't know about these deserts, but up north we have a species called a Sand Shark.  Nasty creatures.  They are like the reptiles of the rivers, but travel under the sands." She said.

She made sure she had an extra wineskin of water.  Going into the desert was never a favored place.  But she would be ready to do so.

Re:  Shattered Blade Inn Razorhawk Village

Kree points to lucy with a nod,we will take  Kitty Lady's  advice...but  we can get what gear we need in Mok.... there is no reason to carry anything we do not need, until that  time...  he smiles  a bit.

Ivy shakes his head...why would  any  Arrows  travel to the  sands?...it  is bad enough  we go into the Swamp, now and again!

..because... they  may have been taken there.... though i do not believe that. I cannot see any Unit of Arrows , being taken alive by slavers.

Then he is quiet for a bit, Before  adding...The Sand People trade with us, for the same reason, we trade with the Sand people... very few ledgitmate merchants  deal with Sand folk, because of the heavy  amount of darkskinned humans and halflings that crew slaver  ships on the Lather River, or the open sea. The Corsairs  are hated as much to the folks of the Coast, as the Red Isle Halflings, or the red Elves themselves .  But there are Coarsairs, who act like Arrows.. and seek out enemy ships and sink or capture them..they fly a  Flag with crossed , curved  swords, with the  'mound' of Ironmound  in the backround... The Flag is green and Gold..remember that...

..When we reach Mok? The people we talk to , have just as much chance of serving the raiders.. as being normal business folk...so?..becareful of what you say, and to whom.

... I  will meet you all at the Totum... i have some goodbyes to say...

Kree looked  around   and nodded to them, as he left.

"One more thing.  I know you are not in favor of traveling on animals, but if we are going deep into the desert we could use some camels." She said.

She blushed a bit a the "Kitty Lady" reference.

"They can be stubborn son of bitches, but they make travel in the desert a hell of a lot easier.  Plus they can go days without drinking water.  Actually, that's what the hump contains, is water." She said.

"For desert travel, they are better then horses, and can carry just as much." She added.

He  nods to Ivy who is  struggling to get up,Ivy bet on such horse in races on the Coast, right before  we left through the Mists, the first time... they are fast, and have endurance.... but they have a temper...

"I've been into the desert.  And, I'm sure the deserts up north are pretty much the same as the ones we are going into.  Trust me, travelling via camel is a hell of a lot easier then traveling via foot.  In fact, I wouldn't recommend travelling into the desert by foot." She said.
