Re: And so it begins....

Shaman:
The man walks on for several blocks before turning a corner into an alley that is sandwiched between two decrepid, run-down, obviously abandoned buildings that are showing the wear of ages upon them.

The man steps up to a recessed door disappearing into its alcove part way down the alley on the left.

Eugene smirked  and mumbled to himself. "It had to be an alley, didn't it. Not a nice open street or drive. " He sighed and loosened the swordcane in it's sheath. He might be crazy, but he wasn't stupid to try to go into something like this totally unprepared.

He quietly followed after the man, keeping a close eye out for others to step out of the shadows.

Dwight Oakhurst:
Dwight readjusts his duffel and holsters the Manhunter since there's no reason for it. He then asks the woman with his Texas drawl, "You hurt, darlin'?"

As he asks her, he gets on his commlink and does a quick check to see if the ork on the ground has a rap sheet.

She smiles, clearly finding something amusing.  "I am fine thank you.  And thank you for your intervention.  It certainly sped things up."

As Dwight pulls up his AR screen, he considers how best to go about that given this is a foreign city and he's no longer officially employed in his former occupation.

DS smiles softly, then replies back in Sperethiel, "My humblest appologies on forgetting my mannors, good sir." He pauses briefly so the gentleman on the other end knows that his appologies are lagit, then he continues, "Yes, I am always on the lookout for freelance work. How can I be of assistance to you, good sir?" He maintains his calm smooth tone as he converses with the gentleman on the other end.

"I have need of an unaffiliated courier and investigator.  One who can handle themselves without necessarily requiring back-up to do so. There are some who say that you have the potential to be one such person."

Walking down the alley, Eugene approaches the door.  No one jumps him and there is no sign of the person he was following.  The door inside the recess is closed.  Furthermore, Eugene realizes he never heard the door open or close nor did he see it open as he should have as the recess is not deep enough to block it and the door opens toward Eugene...

Dwight smiles back at her, "I apologize for not being able to do more." The rain pours off his hat, but he does need to check this guy. He takes a quick pic of him and checks the Lone Star public database. He then tips his hat to her, "Excuse me a minute. I need to see if this fella has anything outstanding." He then hooks a thumb back at the diner, "If you want to get out of the rain while I look him up, I'd be happy to buy you a cup of soykaf as soon as I'm done."

In reply to Shaman (msg #32):

DS nods out of habbit and replies softly in sperethiel, "Yes. I do what ever I can to train myself to be more independant in case there are times where I am alone and need to rely on my own wits and resources to survive." His thoughts flash back to his days in the military as a Tir Ghost. Several times he was left alone by his team for one reason or another and each of those times, to their dismay, he returns alive. He blinks a moment to flush his mind of the flash backs as he returns his attention to the here and now where it belongs. "I am the one whom you seek. What have you in store for me, good sir?" He asks softltly in sperethiel as the last fragments of his past fades away back into the deep recesses of his mind.

She smiles, balancing for a moment on one leg then the other, she slips off her footwear, walks over and pulls the heel spike out of the prone ganger, frowning at the damage done to it.  She then starts walking toward the diner.

She stops dead in the street for a moment, her body tenses just as she vocalizes with extreme anger, "Sonofabitch!  That bastard!"  Then proceeds into the diner, pushing open the door hard enough that it bangs against the wall.

"I have need of you to go to an address, pick up a security briefcase, and bring it to another address.  You need not be concerned with what is in the case but there are interested parties that wish to obtain the case and deny me its contents.

"This I will not have.  Succeed and you will not want for work presuming I like what I see.  The fee is non-negotiable at this point.  I will pay you one thousand nuyen up front which you may keep regardless of whether you choose to decline this employment, call it a listener's fee.

"I will pay another two thousand upon its delivery provided the contents are intact and safe.

"Depending on the problems you have with delivery, I will add an additional two thousand nuyen in hazzard pay if again I feel the danger or difficulties were significant enough to warrant it.

"Lastly, if a party does attempt to intervene I will pay a variable amount depending on what you learn about who these people are and why they desire what is in the case.

"Any other details must wait until I know that you find these conditions and the job acceptable." the voice replies smoothly in Sperethiel.

[OOC: Dwight doesn't have Datasearch, so I'll have to default it. I still need to know how many hits I need total (I assume it will be an extended test) and the time interval of each check.

One question, I assume since I'm defaulting the roll will be Logic -1 + Browse, correct?]

It takes a few minutes, but Dwight makes his verification. As he stands there,he's is glad his duster is treated for rain. He just hopes what passes for rain here won't ruin it.

He is not listed in the Lonestar database for any public warrants but you do find link that leads to a posting for him on the KE public database.  He is wanted for questioning regarding an incident at the Damn Good Koffee Bar in Auburn.

Hauling him up, Dwight is forced more to carry him then anything else while considering the transfer of the Seattle law enforcement contract.  The woman looks up, catching sight of her assailant she frowns.  "You could have left him in the street, the scavangers would have dealt with him."

She has found a booth and seems a bit distracted, her lips and eyes moving but without a sound or any real focus once she takes her eyes off Dwight.

"There is a parkade kitty-corner to the ACHE.  Go to the second level and park in the handi-cap stall, the second to the left of the doors to the elevator.  Go in to the elevator physically press both the up and down call buttons simultaneously for the elevator.  Return to the stall.  You will be approached within ten minutes by a person that will ask if you have the proper certification to park in that stall?

"Reply that your certification needs renewal.

"They will hand you a briefcase stating this is all the renewal you will need.  He will then proceed in to the elevator.  You should leave immediately.

"Once you have left, contact me at this number for additional instructions.  Do you have any questions?"

On the way back to the diner, Dwight puts in a call to KE letting them know he needs a cruiser for a pick-up.

Hauling the guy inside and getting him in the booth across from the woman, Dwight shrugs, "He's someone Knight Errant is interested in. So I'll give 'em a call. Lord knows I need the NuYen, but he probably ain't worth much." He then lets his Texas drawl be a touch thicker than normal when he asks, "So what's a pretty lady like you doin' in a part of town like this?"

Dwight shakes his head, "Don't have any job lined up. Been on walkabout since I left Dallas a couple years ago. Just been wandering around out West."
Then he chuckles, "Momma would whup me for not introducing myself. You can call me Tonto."
