Do you question perception? Do you wonder if this world is nothing more than a series of 1's and 0's? Do you crave the power to defy reality and pit yourself against an all-powerful artificial intelligence? If so, step through the looking glass.
Masters of the Matrix is based on the sci-fi movie phenomenon (including the Animatrix) and takes place when humans first crept out of their Matrix wombs, nearly a century before the movies take place. The game rules are based on GURPS, with modifications shown on the web page, including a step-by-step walkthrough of rules, background, and character creation. As characters progress, they will more fully master the Matrix and gain Skills impossible for ordinary people.
This game emphasizes story, character, intrigue, and--of course--action. We will leave no stone unturned in exploring the limits of exploiting the Matrix. Your goal: Destroy Zero-One and rescue humanity.

Send a PM to me if you wish to join.
Currently, the characters are about to begin their third mission. I am looking for two or three additional players to join the existing four characters.
Expectations for New Recruits:
(1) Post at least daily or once every other day.
(2) No prior knowledge of GURPS rules is necessary. A link will lead you to the basic rules. Good roleplaying and consistent effort is necessary.
(3) Please use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
(4) Expect a long term commitment. My previous online RPOL game ran from 1998 to January of 2004; if you cannot commit to at least one year of real time, do not request to join.
(5) Understand that this game does not involve Neo or The One or any of those characters or expectations from the movies. Any of you can succeed at shutting down Zero-One...if you survive.
(6) Be ready for twists, turns, betrayals, and combat...and let's not forget the Agents. Your adventures will make Neo's romp look like a walk in the park.
(7) In the past, I've found that due to the overwhelming popularity of the games I run, I cannot always guarantee acceptance of every request to join, but I will respond to every request, and I will answer any questions. I may create a waiting list.
About the GM:
(1) I have been roleplaying for 24 years on more worlds than I can count, so I am familiar with many game systems and player types.
(2) I am married with three children and live in Japan, so my posting generally occurs during Japan days/evenings.
(3) I have a post-doctorate degree; I demand intelligent and intuitive players who treat each other and me with respect, and I will give the same in return. Do not expect my adventures to be rehashed story models like video games; instead, expect fast-paced combat, extreme tension, moral issues, suspense, philosophy, intelligent villains, and original innovations of the Matrix ideas; it is not a place for anything run of the mill, cliche, or stereotyped.
(4) I push for tight adventures to keep stories moving and interests involved, but I give players absolute freedom to control their characters unless they slack off.
