Log 4-2

You move away from the dark office building and follow the instructions given to you.  The City is more active as you get closer and then finally enter inside the zone of silence.

You dodge some cars and cross the street toward the designated building.  It is lit up with boisterous activity inside.  Looks like a party of some kind.  A muscled, well-dressed bouncer stands at the front entrance.  He looks at you suspiciously for a moment before saying, "Are you the caterers or the performers?"

You notice the couple of guests you can see inside are dressed in costume like a masquerade ball.  But this is definitely the right address to meet Jaguar.

Screed thinks for a moment and says, "Oh, we are definitely the entertainment.  I didn't bring any food, so I am going to have to go with performing."  He gives his best smile and waits for his reaction.

The bouncer looks at Screed skeptically.  "What manner of entertainment are you?"  He reaches over to grap a list on a podium by the door.

Screed scowls inwardly, and replies quickly when he sees the man going for the list, "We're the minglers.  We're here to make sure the people are having a good time.  We talk, we keep the drinks flowing, we keep the party going in the right direction."  And he lowers his voice conspiratorily, "We report back any suspicious activity.  The boss thought it was important tonight for some reason."

After checking her earpiece and subvocal microphone, Rabbit walks past the front door looking for alternative points of entry and exit. A delivery truck service entrance or parking garage would be nice. Something the real caterers and hired help would use.

After unscrewing the silencer on the rifle and stowing both completely inside the gym bag, Rabbit heads straight for the back door of the building falling in line with the food carts being wheeled in. When she and Cala reach the watchman, if there is any, she drapes her arm around the shoulder of the shorter woman and flashes security a momentary faux smile followed immediately by a bland and bored look. She jerks her thumb at the elegant Screed, "We're with him."

Re: Log 4-2

You start to look around a bit, starting by looking out the kitchen window into the party area.  Everyone is wearing masks and talking.  It is obviously a formal party.

Then you see someone with a jaguar mask.  He appears to be looking around uncomfortably.  Unfortunately, there are many partygoers between you and the man.

Re: Log 4-2

The waitress gives you all a puzzled look, seeing as how you're dressed so differently from the others.  Nevertheless, Screed flashes her a smile and she leaves.

You watch through the window as she tells the man in the jaguar mask about you and points in your direction.  He looks about nervously and then starts to walk towards you.

As he approaches, you see something behind him -- two figures.  Their faces are also wearing masks, but they both appear to watch the jaguar man leave the party area.  What is a bit strange about these two figures is that they are wearing suits.

The man removes the mask when he enters the kitchen.  "Back here," he says, urging the party toward a back room.  "You're late."

Screed tosses his half-made mask in a garbage can as he follows.  He gives a false exhasperated sigh as he says, "Not you, too.  Then one who sent us talked about how were late also.  Don't worry, though, we're here and we're prepared.  That's what matters."  He tries to keep the fellow calm while trying to seem... human.  "What my friend means is, are you alone?  My friends will make sure that you are safe at all times and will do what is necessary."

Screed's talking seems to have a very calming affect on the man.  He says, "I came alone.  Why?  Am I being followed?  The Merovingians..."  He stops.  "Lock the door.  We don't have much time.  Did you see anyone following me?  Was it the Merovingians or was it an Exile?  Were they carrying weapons?"  He seems to be worried, yet calm now.
