Log 5-3

Zhang snaps his finger, and the doors on the sides of the four buildings open.  Out step four men.

The first is garbed like a ninja in black, face half covered.  He carries an assortment of Oriental weapons.

The second is a large man in modern clothes.  He holds a pistol in one hand and a tire iron in the second.

The third is dressed only in trousers with no weapons or shoes.

The fourth is clad in a black robe, his face completely concealed.

Each stands at attention--four statues ready to be commanded.

Zhang says, "Now look within you to see what abilities you have gained."

OOC:
Choose one of the following advantages:
1)  Trained by a Master
2)  Weapon Master
3)  Sharpshooter
4)  Iron Hand (If you choose this, you receive 30 extra points to apply elsewhere).

Also, choose one of the following.  Your skill level will be equal to the relevant attribute level (i.e. equal to your DX, ST, etc.)

1)  Hypnotism
2)  Escape
3)  Pressure Points
4)  Meditation
5)  Stealth
6)  Danger Sense
7)  Judo
8)  Body Control
9)  Karate
10) Other martial art technique (clear with me first)
11)  Weapon of your choice
12)  Throwing
13)  Wrestling
14)  Acrobatics
15)  Katana
16)  Staff
17)  Jumping (non-CBP jumping)
18)  Breath Control
19)  Bow

(If you have any of these skills already, you may use 8 points to increase your skill level if you choose it again.)

(If you have already begun to look at this through the web site before, this is the roleplaying part of your character upgrade.)

Here is a link to Chambara Martial Arts on the web site:  http://members.tripod.com/mastersofthematrix/id101.htm

Again, if you have questions about specific things, let me know and I will try to look into them this weekend.

Also, if you have questions about how to update a character in GURPS, let me know since it is not a matter of leveling like in some other games.

The ninja-like man steps forward, and you see that he carries numchucks in his left hand, a shurikin in his right hand, a katana strapped to his back, and possibly other things in the folds of his robe.

He steps to the center of the area, and Zhang bows and steps out.  "Begin!" he says.

You're not in a room.  There are four buildings surrounding a dirt "arena" area.  The center of the arena is about 40 feet from the center of each small building.  The buildings are like wooden sheds with sloped triangular roofs.  Your four combatants have appeared at each corner between two buildings.

Zhang has moved back toward one of the buildings where he can watch.  He suddenly jumps up and back, landing on the thatched roof of the building, and watches you from above.

Re: Log 5-3

OOC:
For this battle, you will need to make sure to keep track of:

Fatigue
CB Fatigue
Health

I will assume that the Character sheet thread is up to date for each of you on this matter.  Remember that fatigue is measured by your strength score.

Here is an example of how I am keeping track of this:

Jade:
Fatigue: 10/10  3
CB Fatigue: 7/10
Health: 15/15

(The 1 is the number of seconds the person has been in combat.  Remember that after 10 seconds, you deduct one fatigue for each additional second unless you rest.  Jade has a 3 because Focus time counts.

If you have any special attributes that affect fatigue, please remind me.)

Screed:
Fatigue: 9/9
CB Fatigue: 9/9
Health: 11/11

Codec:
Fatigue:  10/10
CB Fatigue: 10/10
Health: 12/12

Dracos:
Fatigue: 10/10
CB Fatigue: 10/10
Health: 10/10

Shadow:
Fatigue: 13/13
CB Fatigue: 13/13
Health: 11/11

Re: Log 5-3

OOC: I updated the maneuvers to include the full description of Head Lock since Jade is doing this maneuver.  See the Rules UPdates thead to read it:  link to a message in "GURPS - Masters of the Matrix"

Here it is again:

Head Lock (Hard)  Def:  Judo-4 or Wrestling-4
Prereq: Judo or Wrestling; cannot exceed prereq lvl
This attack consists of putting the target's head in a lock, similar to a choke hold, but holidng it in such a way that the target can be thrown while using the neck as the axis of the throw - which will almost certainly break the target's neck.  After Grappling the foe, the attacker must roll against Head Lock to grab the neck (the target can make any Active Defense against this; PD does not protect).  On a success, the target's head has been put in a lock.
The following round, the attacker can try to either Choke the victim (treat as normal Strangling roll), or he can throw him; the throw is resolved as a Quick Contest between the attacker's Judo or Wrestling skill and the defender's ST, DX, Judo or Wrestling, whichever is highest.  If the attacker wins, the target takes swing damage (plus a bonus equal to 1/8 Wrestling or Judo skill) to the neck, which is multiplied by 1.5.  If defender wins or ties, no dmg is taken and the victim can try to Break Free.
See Neck Snap maneuver for lasting effects of neck damage.

The ninja figure throws the shuriken before you can reach him.  His aim is at Codec, and it finds its mark.  (2 dmg).

Jade kicks, but the man dodges with an insanely agile maneuver and hits around with his numchucks, knocking Jade in the leg and throwing her to the ground.  (2 dmg, now on ground).

Dracos reaches the man and kicks out twice.  He hits the man once in the abdomen and one is deflected from his leg.

Codec also is moving in focus speed.  He hits the man twice, and the man grunts and doubles over.

Shadow reaches the guy and successfully grapples him and gets his non-numchuck arm behind his back.  As he strains to cause damage to the ninja, the ninja cries out in pain.
