RT: Players needed

We might need a replacement astropath and rouge trader.  Both characters are very new and the game is not very.  It is rolling along rather nicely and we really would like to fill both roles with commited players who can post once a day throughout the week (minimum).  Send me a message if this sounds like something you are interested in.

In reply to Olympia (msg #5):

I'd say it is possible to play RT with a knowledge DH. Having said that, within days of join Black Hearted I'd ordered the RT rules from Amazon!

The imperial primer on the Dark Reign website should work just as well for RT, but I'd imagine it's been taken down now thanks to GW.

Re: RT: Players needed

We at Black-Herated, Rackless Abandon are looking for a player to take on the roll of a missionary by the name Mordechai, the spiritual advisor and friend of the party's captain Johan Verdan, who is on a mission to find his twin brother Yuri Verdan (not an evil twin, we are not a space soap yet), warn him that the nastiest pirates this side of the Imperium are out to get him and to get rich in the process. Oh, and trying not to get killed by Dark Eldar.

If you are interested speak up or send a rtj. There is the potential for creating your own character at a later date as well as having a go at GMing (we have a system... well sort of).

Looking for a player to take over the role of navigator Otis Nodar:
link to another game

Otis Nodar is something of a local legend in the sector. 'The Jinx', 'The Black Navigator', 'Doom-spawn'...There are several such names. He's been one of the hand full of survivors in three Rogue Trader ship losses. For the past three years He's been traveling port to port seeking a ship willing to take him on as Navigator.

Otis, has been called Ship-cursed, for he's been navigator on three Ships that have fallen due to Xenos (The Moonglum fell to Eldar), Pirate (The Tears of Sol fell to rebel privateers allied with a minor chaos cult) and Warp calamity(The Sainted Prisoner disappeared in the warp but a life pod fell back into real space with 5 unconscious survivors with no idea how they got there). Each time he's been one of the handful of survivors.

Otis Nodar is a young Navigator, just 30 years of age. Due to his "Otherness, everyone around Otis feels strange unpleasant sensations. Metallic tastes in their mouths, an odd feeling of being touched by an unseen hand, or a mildly unsettling whine in their ears are common. He keeps his head covered most times, but a wild strand of his light brown hair can be seen peeking from under his hood. He wears his ornate hellpistol in a holster at the front- center of his belt and usually carries the eye in the Pyramid metallic staff of a Navigator in his left hand.

Re: RT: Players needed

Another crew position is opening in Ben E's game! Details included below:

Wanted: Replacement Astropath
Starting: Now
Game: Rogue Trader Adventures (Riddle of the Righteous Path)
Link: link to another game
Vessel and Crew: HMS Vainglorious Chariot, Tempest-Class Strike Frigate
Captain: Vladimir Darkraven
Seneschal: Jarrion Goodquille
Navis: Otis Nodar
Helm-Mistress: Krystal Davenport
Enginer-Master: Hastius Gearhart
Astropath: Severus Heldrane M.I.A.

Game Info: A Rogue trader adventure for all players.  Will be specifically suitable for newer players just getting to understand the game.  High post rate will be expected. ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN COPY OF THE RULES.
Synopsis: (warning! contains adventure spoiler links!)

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
The Righteous Path was a lost “Grandcruiser” 2500 years ago during Angevin Crusade in Calixis Sector adjacent the Koronus Expanse.

Rogue Trader Darkraven and his exceptional crew are en route to discover this fabled vessel before it is snatched up by the competition!

Free Captain Locarnus Ryn was filled with bloodlust and greed, but also an unwavering faith in Drusus and the Emperor.  At the helm of his Grandcruiser, the Righteous Path, he was the scourge of a hundred worlds.

One such world was Krystallian.  A lost colony  fallen to worship of false gods and prohpets known as the Talisar. Cloud temples were raised by the Talisar, with immense wealth and blasphemous grandeur within.

Lorcanus Ryn sweept away thousands of years of Krystallian civilisation and their prophets in three days of fire and blood. When the war was done Ryn marvelled at the riches he had won.

The details vary from teller to teller but it is known that the wealth was greater than a hundred worlds.

Whatever the form of the planets wealth, Ryn was not content to sample it, nor did he trust his crusaders to carry it away.  So he set about filling the Righteous Path from stern to ram.

He tore out gun decks and launch bays and vital innards of the Path, converting his warship into a treasure-barge to hold the plunder.

He marooned thousands of his own crew on Krystallian(!).

Then he vanished into the warp, 2500 years ago.

His destination was unknown... until an astropathic marker revealed the location of the Righteous Path in “a strange and uncharted part of the [Koronus] Expanse.”

"A distant dustfilled world, surrounded by a icy halo orbiting a flickering star..."

Come join us on our perilous quest for the lost treasures of the past!

Ok I have a question for all concerned for a RT game.

And that is what is that you, as players look forward to in the Rogue Trader gameplay. Or what brings you to the table.

Excluding story and the other players of course. What about the setting appeals to you.

Edit: Opened up a new RT game on Rpol. Called: The void between the stars.

Looking for players to join.

Re: RT: Players needed

I have an opportunity in my Rogue Trader game for a new player to take on an NPC, whom I am now thinking will be more interesting as a PC.

The character is a female astropath who is blatantly hiding on the ship under a false identity.  Exactly what she is hiding from has yet to be revealed, but has been heavily implied.  (It begins with an 'I' ;) )

Although there is some backstory to the NPC, the character has not been in the game for long and so there is ample opportunity to personalise her.

If anyone is interested, please have a look at the game and send me an RTJ to discuss it. :)

(For info, the character appears during the Port Wander thread).

Thanks,

Tylorva

UPDATE:  Aaaaand this position has now been filled. :)

"Oh Eternal God Emperor: who alone spreadest out the heavens and rulest the raging of the warp:
Who hast compassed with bounds until day and night come to an end:
Be pleased to recieve into thy Almighty and most gracious protection the souls of thy servants and the fleet in which we serve:
Preserve us from the dangers of the void and the violence of the enemy:
That we may be a safeguard unto our fellow man and his dominions and a security for such as pass through the void upon their lawful occasions:
That the inhabitants of our Imperium may serve thee our Saviour and that we may return in triumph with the fruits of our labours:
And with a thankful remembrance of thy mercies to praise and glorify thy Holy Name:
Through thine eternal rule:
Ave Imperator"

 - Common prayer among the Fleet.

Even amongst the stars and the silent void of space there is only war. Horrors lurk there that threaten the very existence of the Holy Imperium of Man. Brutish Orks, insidious Eldar and the unrelenting followers of Chaos, to name only a few. Only the might of the glorious Imperial Navy bars their way. Powerful ships, crewed by brave men and women who's stories of thankless struggle and sacrifice keeps the hounds from the door and ensures that the gears keep turning.
One such tale of heroism is that of the frigate Fiery Redemption, and her crew, stationed within the Calixis Battlefleet to guard the sector from alien incursions, pirate raids and the like. This is their story...
___________________________________________________________________________

This will be a game using the WH40kRPG Rogue Trader rules published by FFG, but with a twist. Players will take on the roles of the senior officers aboard the Imperial frigate, Fiery Redemption.
I am a big fan of the movie Master and Commander and the Hornblower series and would like the game to have the same mood and themes as those two.
So if this sparks an interest then head on over and throw me an RTJ.

This game will be a modded form of Rogue Trader in which the players take on the roles of officers in the Imperial Navy instead of Traders. So far we've got our captain, a feisty arch-militant and a young lieutenant. So if that sounds like it could be fun to you, throw me an RTJ. The game is rated Mature.

Re: RT: Players needed

.
The Rogue Trader is dead, murdered in his own ship by his own servitors and suddenly the normal, mundane routines of shipboard life have gone out the airlock. The Lament completes is  journey under tight security lock down and is boarded on arrival at ‘Stone’s Throw’ by Arbitrators, family reps, government agencies in a variety of flavours and finally, an inquisitorial investigation team.
.
Forgoing the usual laying in state and protracted period of morning, family interests rush through the new investiture, determined to see the Pious Lament back in action within days rather than the months that would normally be expected. Most of the ships senior staff, all close friends who have served with the dead Trader for decades, take the opportunity to retire, or are reallocated elsewhere in the in the dynasty’s operation and fresh blood steps up to the mark.
.
For the moment I am just looking for a new Rogue Trader. If you have an interest in playing here in some other capacity then feel free to let me know but I won’t be recruiting the other characters for at least a week.
.
There are some restrictions on the Rogue Trader character, he, or she will have to be the nephew or niece of the dead captain and carry the dynasty name, Velspar. The character would have been serving in a junior capacity on the Pious Lament while being groomed for leadership. The character’s uncle, Lord Harington Velspar, was well respected, both by his crew and the Imperial authorities who frequently called upon him to carry out work on their behalf. The new trader does not have to have the same attitudes but that is what’s expected of him or her by the family. If there is more than one applicant, the character will be chosen on the basses of which fits best into the game I have in mind.
.
I'll be assesing the aplicants over the weekend, so there is no rush, and in a weeks time, I will be recruiting the rest of the team, with teh help of the Rogue Trader. Any applicants who have not been successful in becoming the Rogue Trader will be given first consideration as part of his crew.
.
If you are interested please supply a just brief character synopsis, I am more interested in attitudes of the character and his player than the nuts and bolts. Feel free to include anything relevant about yourself, playing experience and such like, and also, if you’d like to play another roll should you not be successful, which you would prefer.
.
Thanks for your interest, I hope to hear from you soon.

Re: RT: Players needed

.
Hello again, I have my Rogue Trader for the game above and I’m now looking to fill the rest of the slots.

In my vision of the game, the ship is not just a big transport to take you from adventure to adventure, you will most likely have shipboard duties and obligations. If you are an Arch Militant, for instance, you will probably be landed with organising the ships security and offensive troops, and leading them in battle should the necessity arise. Also, I don’t expect the entire command crew to leave the ship to explore some interesting planet, space hulk, or whatever; you have a hundred thousand people at your disposal, give or take and this is not Star Trek.

There will be occasions for going ashore as a team, though the navigator might struggle to find an excuse and might be run as an NPC.

Characters can be created from the main rule book and Into the Storm, but must be human. Just a brief character concept is all that’s needed initially.

Thanks for your interest and hope to hear from you soon.

Sorry, the game is now full.

I wanted to gauge interest in a RT type game that I have been tinkering around with for some time. Instead of the traditional RT types, it would be an Imperial navy game where everyone would take the roles of different personnel over the ship (this version would be something big, like grand cruiser) or where everyone would be the captain (Rogue trader class or something else to match) of different size ships that would be part of a fleet. Any takers? and if so, which idea appeals more.

Re: RT: Players needed

Rogue Trader, Situations Vacant

The following positions are currently available on the Battle cruiser ‘Pious Lament’.

Rank 2
   High Factotum
Rank 3
   Master of Ordinance
   Chief Chirurgen (Top Medic)
   Master of Whispers
   Warp Guide
Rank 4
   Ship’s Confessor
   Drivemaster
   Omnissianic Congregator
   Chief Bosun
   Master of the Vox
   Purser
   Carto-Artifex (charts and Holo maps)
   Ship’s steward
   Twistcatcher
   Infernus master

Successful candidates will be handling their own departments on this ancient and revered vestal and working with in a dedicated team of command officers, intent on furthering the aims of the Lord High Captain. Only humans need apply.

At the request of Adeptus Terra, the Battle Cruiser ‘Pious Lament’ is setting off the reclaim a Forge world thought lost many centuries before, however, they are not the only ones with designs on this planet and rivals have already assassinated the Lord Captain their efforts to delay the ship.

The game started in November but lost some of the players over the Christmas break so we are effectively restarting the game from the current position, which is just priour to setting sail. I’m not intending to fill all of the above posts with players; they are all currently occupied by NPCs or vacant due to the loss of a player. Just ask in game if you need further details.

Re: RT: Players needed

Thinking about adding 1, maybe 2, players to my game. I'd like for there to be no duplicate roles (not careers), but it's fine if that's what you really want.

Roles Already Filled
Explorator    - The ship's "Rogue Trader" and, of course, tech-priest
Arch-Militant - Heavy Weapons specialist
Navigator     - Navigator
Void Master   - Pilot/Driver/Stealthy character
Ork           - Ork (Future Mekboy)

Ship: Lunar Cruiser (medium warfare, light utility)

Send me an rMail if you're interested, along with character concept. All books in the RT and DH series are allowed, and I use a few BC rules and a bunch of homebrew stuff (nothing majorly game-affecting). We're playing through The Frozen Reaches and are literally just entering the 2nd act.

DISCLAIMER: I have not yet 100% decided I'd like to add more players. I'm just thinking really hard about it.

Re: RT: Players needed

The universe is a dark and forbidding place, tiny points of life offering safety in a vast, unknown darkness.  Most huddle in that light, never daring to touch that endless, mysterious sea.  Only a few have the needed daring to close their eyes and step forward into what awaits.

There are dangers, but they are worth the risk for the prizes that can be gained.

**

I'll be accepting applications for about a day (depending on how many I receive), so it won't be first come, first served.  I'll be taking 4 to 5 players to keep it a small, settled game where everyone feels they have a signfiicant role to play.

I am willing to consider Xeno characters, should a solid backstory be provided, and if I feel they'll fit with the mostly human crew.  However, I don't possess the Soul Reaver book, so I'm afraid Dark Eldar won't be accepted, as I lack the rules for them.

For starting RTJs, what I'm looking for is:

A statement of age, as this'll be an adult game.  I, <username>, am <years old>, born on <DOB> and I am legally entitled to view adult material in my country of residence.

Character name and backstory.

**

With Rogue Trader the way it is, what the crew does and how they act will eb entirely up to the players.  I'm simply going to be here as the GM to provie the backdrop to their stories and adventures.

Re: RT: Players needed

Game is up, will keep it at Mature as I feel it doesn't need to be an adult game. We'll see how many people we get and determine from there.

Re: RT: Players needed

Chance to play an Eldar.

The Rogue Trader ship Emperor’s Glory has crossed the line and for reasons not yet clear, has been allied to Eldar forces as the Lord Captain, Gilvan Vexel attempted to beat his rivals to a rediscovered planet and the riches of a moon sized manufactorum in orbit around it. Sadly this has come to nought and the great battle cruiser has been blown to bits while trying to escape orbit of the prize planet.

There were survivors though; a landing party still struggles to gain control of the manufactorum while hundreds of sanctuary pods are making for the planet below.

Someone has asked to play an Eldar in this game and I wondered if anyone would care to join him. You would be playing one of a small party of Eldar survivors on a human planet where a civil war is taking place. Your aim would be to survive and get rescued and/or extract your revenge on the ship that has so far killed a great Eldar hero and destroyed two Aurora light cruisers, your ships that carried many of your friends and relations on board. Be warned though, technically you will be the ‘enemy’ in this game, relaying on your own resources and your few companions on a hostile world, it won’t be easy and character death is a very probable outcome.

If there are takes I’ll run the game in private threads within the on-going Rogue Trader game and the actions of each will have consequences in the other part of the game.

Any interest?

Re: RT: Players needed

Incidentally, is this only going to be a short term "Fuck with your PCs" thing, or will any survivors be potentially merged with the main group?

Re: RT: Players needed

I can’t imagine any circumstances where this Rough trader or her crew would cooperate with the Eldar, however, should players survive and still be interested, I’d be quite happy to continue this as a separate game.

Re: RT: Players needed

Gee Ignato, beat me to the punch. ^^

I am a new GM and should really be picking an easier system, but I've wanted Rogue Trader for a while.

I am intending to have a full Rogue Trader game running at some point.
It is not currently open but I am giving the great people here a heads up.
I need to iron out some preparation and paperwork and hope for an adventure hook, but the link is here:
