Millandson and myself are going to co-gming a game in mid-october, as I have received many PM's with regards of wanting to play. So we plan on splitting up the squads and running missions that will influence the other team. We shall see how it goes but right now we are just getting the ground work laid down for it.

Having finally gotten my hands on the Deathwatch book, I am really looking forward to playing in a game. So far all of those I have seen active right now are full however so seeing if anyone has a game in the making. After I get a feel for the game as a I player I would be happy to turn around and run a game as well.

Re: DW: GM wanted

Och, so many people who already have their book.
Och, the envy is killing me :-)

So far I've only seen one game that does not use the quick-start-rules from Final Sanction but actually goes with the core book. And that game has already 9 (!) players (2 squads) and is no longer open for new players... amassing some 500+ posts within one week !

Even if a game sprang up (I'm looking daily !) I currently wouldn't be able to write a proper RTJ, since I can't build a character. It's shame really :-(.
And Amazon is only saying "Estimated Delivery" :-(

Things is:
The "DW: Players Wanted" thread will probably not have many posts since anyone who's actually setting up a game will be overwhelmed with RTJ within seconds... chuckle.

"Problem" (if we want to call it that) is:
Every seeking player will naturally write a RTJ for each and every game that springs up, quite likely resulting in getting multiple games to play in... while others go with empty hands.

So the challenge for every player is:
How do I get the attention of the GM :-)...
What can I possibly do so he's choosing me, instead of player XYZ ?
And suddenly one must remember all the tricks and manoeuvres of job application / interview... chuckle. Unfortunately, my last job application was over 5 years ago... chuckle
If I were into "Social Sciences" this would be so interesting to study ;-)

Re: DW: GM wanted

Yay it is my game that has 500 posts in a week.  As for RTJ you need to put some fluff in, something that will catch the eye with a neat potentail plot hook.  Tie is as much or as little canonical fluff as you want and answer the questions in the book about your character.  If you havent got the book they are very similar to the dark heresy ones.  Hell I'll post them here:

What is your homeworld like?  Is it just a distant memory that you don't really care about or do you still long for it in some way?  Where did you stand in its culture before becoming a marine?

What is your personality like?  How do other people often perceive him?

Why were you selected for the deathwatch?  Showing great skill?  Self imposed/chapter imposed exile?  Trying to atone for some sin or mistake?  Is becoming a deathwatch trooper a step down eg where you a captain before?

What do you hate most of all?  Why do you hate it?  Does this hate keep you going when the poo really hits the fan?

How do you perceive the Emperor?

What do you think of the codex Astartes?

How pure is your geneseed?

What do you think of psykers?

What do you think of the Imperium as a whole?  What do you think of normal humans??

Re: DW: GM wanted

Yup.  I had a shot at Thraxar's game mostly (I think) because he liked the fact that I had a scout marine character concept but gave up before being offically accepted because I saw how fast those posts were flying.  I would love to get into a deathwatch game, but I didn't think there was a chance I would be posting often enough to do the game justice (I'm more of a one post a day guy).

BlackJewelsIV:

Chuckle... imagine that.
You're only doing one post per day ? Outrageous.
I'm kiddying, of course, in case you hadn't noticed.
Heck, most GMs kind of beg in their RTJ threads for daily posts and don't even get that.
So I'd say 1/d is good enough.
But, if there's a fight going on and the particular game explicitely does those fights in initiative order, I ususally make sure to check the game more often.
I'm kind of paranoid of having players wait on me ;-)

BTW: lots of Final Sanction games springing up these days, is there no adventure included in the Core book ?

Re: DW: GM wanted

I ask for a minimum of one post a day or I post for them.  This usually just means they follow their squad leaders direction or do something sensible but not particularly helpful or damaging.

As for the mission in the back of the book it just needs some poetic licence and adjusting.  Also sporadic vox communiques from the remaining imperial forces on the planet help to make it feel more rushed.  Nothing like hearing from a Major leading an armoured regiment headed your way and not far off sounding like the cavalry only to have the message degenerate into screaming and the sounds of battle.

I'm in 3 games at the moment and things are going pretty well. I'm new to the system as I didn't play RT or DH. Still, as someone mentioned, ain't nothing to it except to try. I'm a very dedicated GM who makes up for lack of knowledge with quick learning and enthusiasm. I'd be interested in trying to start a game if I get at least 3 or 4 interested. I'm not completely new to the 40k universe but my knowledge is limited. When in doubt, google it.

four of us.  Actually you will probably fill three roles quite quickly. Librarian, Apothecary and Assault, even outside this.  Devastator is a bout tied with assault, you will probably find it harder to get someone to play a tactical marine.

Oh, kinda figured but wasn't sure. Also, Lord D, I read your post on the other thread. I don't do much suspense and drama with mysterious plot twists too well, so I hope that's ok? For me, a deathwatch game is very combat oriented with a majority of the story being character interaction and development. Brotherhood and all that as well as shoving a power armored boot up a Xeno's ... you get the point.

On a whole different side note, is it possible to play a chapter game with the Deathwatch rule book?

Still looking for a replacement game had an idea though of a Kill-team based in a starship rather than a watch station but not a huge drop ship but a smaller ship crewed by the kill team itself, prehaps using the Rogue Trader rules for building a ship, and then they get orders and can inseret themselves and get themselves out as well as have the occasional space fight/boarding action.

Not sure how well it would work but it seems fun, I can post regularly and play any speciality or chapter, even happy to take over someone elses character if it's needed as long as I'm given time to read up on the back story etc.

Re: DW: GM wanted

Right it's not quite DW but looking for a space marine game that uses these add-ons for DH:

http://darkreign40k.com/drjoom...ave-adeptus-astartes

Now I don't want a DH game that would let me use a spacemarine but a game using these rules, or a mix of DW and this, and I'd like to play from a neophyte or scout upwards, preferably with a squad of scout brothers. It would be lots of battle, after all this is standard marines not Deathwatch, and we would have plenty of time before we get to the good stuff but have a look and see what you think.

Looking forward to your response.

Re: DW: GM wanted

I find that most games either die out for several reasons. In the last RT one only a core group of people posted and the most important person, aka the captain stopped, which does tend to kill it.

As for the DW game I tried to run I had surgery one my arm and hand. After all the meds and recovery time it was over a month in absentee and the game died. Also the issue comes to when the mission is given some people take forever to pick their gear.

As for the dark reign rules. I do not like them, never been a fan. Reason is you have to do a chapter based game or do a DW game with them. I am a SW fan, always have been, so if I play a character, it has to be a SW or a fan based chapter off them. (purists will tell me that space wolves have no successor chapters, true that only one is RECORDED.)

I am thinking about running a game here again for DW. Like Gwyn said, if you first dont succeed....

Re: DW: GM wanted

Right, I blame this post on the people talking about Ascension level characters in the DH thread. I need a brave GM....very Brave.

I want someone to run a game at rank 4 or higher in DW. I would love the chance to actually play a chaplain, rather than just be on the way there all the time, and if I could have one mission, just one, where I can wear terminator armour, just to say I did, that would totally rock!

Please rmail me if you want to discuss the idea.

Re: DW: GM wanted

Hey guys, seems like posts for DW GM's have been down for a bit, so maybe there are some GM's looking to start a new game... maybe.

So when DW first came out I joined a game to play through the demo adventure, Final Sanction I think it was? Well the GM was doing some.... interesting things to try and not make it feel like dungeon crawl, and it didn't really work out too well. Now that some time has passed, and I've flipped through RoB some, I'm getting an urge to give it another go. A friend of mine is also keen to join in.

We're not really picky with specifics. Pre-made adventures or your own creation are fine. With regards to Kill-Team Size, just the two of us is perfectly cool with us.  More members in the Kill-Team is fine too, though in the interest of keeping the game moving I had guessed a cap of around four would be good, though this is obviously up to your discretion.

Around one post a day during the week would be great for posting speed. More would be cool, though sometimes I feel like one post a day is my max I'm able to guarantee. Weekends seem to be a toss up with posts.

Hope to hear something soon. Thanks for your time :D

Re: DW: GM wanted

Well folks, now that Space Marine has come out and has been somewhat nicely received by the community (even 4chan is silent on the matter, which is always a resounding nod of success).

In this vein, I'm interested in running a 'command squad' style game, using the deathwatch ruleset, but with all players being from the same Chapter.  Game would begin with 1 Sergeant and no more than three Battle-Brothers (3x Rank 1, 1x Rank 3).  The sergeant position is intended for a player willing to work as an actual leader, not just to make use of a few more xp.

Would anyone be willing or curious to try out this game?

I'd be keen, obviously, although I would like to see how you plan to balance the different power levels out. Although it might be more interesting if you didn't intend that at all :D

Are you going to be using the altered version of the weapon rules in Errata v1.1 or the standard ones?

Also what chapter have you got in mind?

I'm keen for the following in order:
Tactical
Librarian
Apothecary
Techmarine

Re: DW: GM wanted

Honestly, I don't intend to balance out the one 'odd duck' at all.  If it's a real sticking point, maybe stagger xp until people are evened out.

I plan to run the game 'cinematic ally', which means I'll be using the errated weapon statistics (simply because bolt weapons are simply better in every aspect in the normal rules).  Chapter will be determined by the players, I'm solid enough on fluff for most chapters, and it lets people design their own if they wish to.

For thearty, I'd prefer Tactical Marines, a lone Devastator, and a lone Apothecary - preferably avoiding a Librarian or a Tech-Priest as they are 'command' roles.

Definitely have my attention with the game LG. I've linked my friend to the thread so he can read the premise himself, though I know he's dying to play a Tech-Marine.

I myself am looking for an Apoth, so no problems there. I can be flexible on the chapter, and am I liking the 3-4 man squad nature of the game. I'll have my eyes open for a RTJ or more discussion.

For anyone curious, just follow the previous link.  I don't have a formal RTJ policy, as honestly I suspect people, like usual, will drop in and out of the game on a casual basis.  I'm fine with that, and the story is designed for people to be able to come in and out as they wish.

Re: DW: GM wanted

So! Deathwatch seeking. A game about massive men with massive guns who stomp on people a lot!

Ahem.

In this case, I'd actually be hoping for a game that's more about unravelling the mysteries of the Reach and dealing with puzzles, with some social stuff thrown in.

There will, of course, certainly be lots of combat given they're space marines, but I'm hoping it wouldn't be the only thing in the game. I'm also liking to see thoughts on how sisters of battle could be worked in, for anyone wanting to play a female character.

(Though my preference is for one of the Vlka Fenryka, to be sure. )

With that said, any GMs with an interest here?

Re: DW: GM wanted

Well, I would prefer something edgy, a game that displays the fact that even thought Space Marines are transhuman super-warriors, they lose their humanity in the process and become little more than warmongers in the end. Perhaps the arch-villain is their ultimate foil, and revels in the fact that war is his entire life. (Think the Hellsing manga if you've ever read it)

I'm good with powerlevels, whether we start at Rank 1 or 8 is up to you.

Re: DW: GM wanted

I'm pretty much looking for two options:
A. Playing as an Angry Marine and just wrecking things with melee.
or
B. A more serious game, conquering Xenos and Heretics in the name of the Emperor. Perhaps learning a few lessons about humanity, making decisions about saving a planet of innocents, or taking the easy way out and calling an Exterminatus.

Any start point would be fine for either.

Re: DW: GM wanted

Right after almost two years of playing one of my DW games has finally given up the ghost. As such I'm looking for a home for him, I must warn you he is pretty RP heavy, he is rank 4 and he has history out the wazoo from two extremely long missions (10-12 objectives per mission). The GM was possible one of the best, with the other one being the game I'm still playing, and most fair that I've ever played with.

I've included a brief summary, description along with a bit more details about him and what he has done. If you have a home for him I'd be really, really plesaed.

Brother Jace Rank 4 Techmarine/Forge Master

Description:
When Jace is not in his Power Armour he wears a long blood red robe, a combat knife and a bolt pistol strapped at the belt. The symbol of the Omnissiah embroidered on the one shoulder, the Blood Angels on the other and his blood drop pendant hanging around his neck. The robe was of rough material, similar to what the other marines wore, but was a symbol of his allegiance to both Mars and the Space Marines.

His hood was thrown back showing the many tubes and cables that ran out of the back of his head and the grill and tubes that replaced the bottom jaw and portion of his throat.

His power armour is a heavily modified version of the Corvus armour that moves with grace and ease, the right arm has been heavily rearmoured to accomodate the broken off scything blade of a Tyranid warrior that jutted out of the pauldron without sacrificing protection. The Tyranid blade had also been plated in a layer of protective material that had been etched with runes of hatred and anger by the Blood Angels Chaplain.

The left pauldron has the studded appearance of the MkV version and the legs were much lighter than the standard armour, even for a Corvus, but the metal of Jace's body interfaced with it best and he turned as easily as when he was unarmoured, his bolter resting at his side, a golden bolt shell of Marksman's Honor hanging from it, and his servo arm curled on his back.

Welded to the armour are the symbols of honour he has earned. The Aquila Token from his service on Barban is riveted to the edge of the left pauldron and an embellished Machina Opus sits at the centre of his waist connecting his equipment belt to his armour.

Achievements:
Completed two very long multipart missions successfully – Barban and Crotan (more details available for GM’s who want to mesh this into their world)

Helped recover Tau artifacts for the Inquisition.

Helped defeat a Tau outpost, destroying several tanks and a transport ship

Destroyed/deactivated several madness inducing Trellis on Barban.

Encountered and fought a ‘lost’ legion of pre-heresy Alpha Legion on Crotan, they were supported by Pre-Heresy Adeptus Mechanicus as well.

Re-Captured the Spear of Fury a deathwatch strike cruiser from the Alpha Legion.
Hacked a Pre-Heresy AI and communed with it.

Black Marks(Squad):
Squad had a Landspeeder and Thunderhawk destroyed while in their care. The first by a surprise strike by Tau Railguns, whom were dispatched, the second to overwhelming firepower when attacking an Pre-Heresy Alpha Legion base while attempting to hijack their Thunderhawk and Landraider. (Their Thunderhawk was destroyed, Landraider was damaged)

Secrets(Personal):
Blew up a ship with his Brother Blood Angel on it because he had succumbed to the black rage, gene seed was recovered but unable to prove that he had killed his fellow Blood Angel.

Stored a Pre-Heresy AI, Illegal tech, with in a suit of Power Armour, replacing the Machine Spirit inside it. Currently in his armour.

Concealled a Pre-Heresy Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priests Memory banks on his person, was able to hack them and use them for information on Pre-Heresy Tech.

Distinctions and Awards:
Aquia Token: For assisting the Imperial Guard on Barban
Machina Opus: awarded for hacking a Tau outposts defensive guns and turning them on the outpost on Barban
Marksman’s Honour: For one shotting a light Tau Tank with a bolter…before the errata fixed the rules, but still the deed had been done :D
First among Equals – For his relationships built with the Forge Master at the DW headquarters
Master of Arms(Felling(1), Accurate) – in line with the Marksman’s honour and the advanced training to help when selected for sniping.

Any deathwatch games out there needing either a tactical or devastator marine?

I've got two ideas burning in my head.

1st: Dark angel tactical marine taking the ravenwing veteran advance so he will function mainly as a scout.

2nd: Ultramarine devastator taking the Tyrannic war veteran advance. He'll mainly be using rocket launchers over the standard bolter, but his equipment will vary by mission briefing as it should.

Re: DW: GM wanted

Hey guys, I've got a Red Scorpions Assault Marine that's looking for a good home. Good environments would be high/mid-level DH/RT games with lots of abhumans and mutants to set off his ultra-xenophobia (even more-so than normal SM), a low-level DW game with daemons to see him in true anti-xenos action and someplace with long walks down dark and gothic corridors as he tries to come to grips with the differences between his own Chapter and the dealings of the Inquisition and Deathwatch in particular.

He's neutered and comes with his very own Mk VI "Corvus" armor with aftermarket retro Mk IV shoulder pads/vambraces, a set known to his Chapter as the Scorpions Guard, rewarded for his service in winning a fight against a Nurgle Chosen as only a Tactical Marine, though he lost both arms of his armor to a Nurgle spawn.

This lovely Space Marine is extremely violent when in prolonged contact with species other than his own, and considers even subhumans and abhumans to be beneath him, often killing them out of spite or ignoring them entirely if circumstances do not permit him to end their pathetic non-human lives.

If you're looking for an addition to your game that will throw your other PC's for a loop as they interact with someone even more xenophobic than a regular Space Marine, this is the Space Marine you're looking for.

Thanks for reading!
