Come and join the fun.  We're gearing up for a fight and it would be the perfect time for some more help.  We have some NPC's, a tech-priest and myself (an Arbitrator).  Just lost the psyker.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I'm relatively new to the whole game - I have the core book, the Inquisitor's Handbook, and Disciples of the Dark Gods.  Not too familiar with the rules quite yet.

I'm wondering if there are any very small groups out there - I'd even be up for a solo game to give me a better grasp of the game mechanics.

Much appreciated whatever there is.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I am putting together a RPG in the DH vein. It's going to be D20 based. It is not ready yet. What I would like to get is some questions from prospective players that in answering will help my thought processes along and help get it ready.

So: what kinds of things would prospective DH players want to know?

why alter an existing system when there's a perfectly good one out there?

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Well I don't think that D20 is perfect.

Oh, you meant DH. Well, I'm just not really that thrilled with any of it but the fluff. It seems solidly based off of Inquisitor, which was based off of Rogue Trader, and has rules and rolls for all the minutia that I'm not concerned with. I guess I'm just not that impressed. If I had the time, I'd do it with Hero, but perfect point balance is not my aim either. If I ran actual DH I'd be bogged down in crunch, and that's not my goal.

By detaching from the rules system, I'm also letting players break out of the box a little. If there's no set rules, then they get to be more creative too.

There's a story stuck in my brain, and I need help getting it out, is all.

Welcome Khardic, as you can see, we have a pretty decent sized following. Personally, I am waiting for Rogue Trader to drop off the shelves, but I know there is a lot of movement on these boards.

Have fun and happy hunting!

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I'm looking to play in a game as a Hive World Cleric. Personaly the plot doesn't matter as long as it has some combat and investigation. My cleric will be able to fill a combat and a face role in the game.

Also i'm interested in play an Adept.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Hi,

I'm looking for a game to play a cybernetic resurrected Tech-priest.

Short Background:

Severus was stationed at the Avenger class Grand Cruiser "Hammer of Glory" when it recieved... nothing. No response at all from the planet of Tyran. The Hammer of Glory quickly went to investigate the anomaly where they where ambushed by a previously unencountered hostile alien race later to be known as the Tyranids. In the fierce battle the aliens had managed to infiltrate the ship. In a last desperate act the captain gave the order to self destruct. In stead of the destroying the ship, it created a rift in the warp and pulled the ship in. Trapped in the warp, the crew valiantly battle constantly the alien menace.

Present time. The grand cruiser "Hammer of Glory" emerges from the warp. Believed to be destroyed in the fight against Hive-fleet Behemoth the Inquisitor quickly dispatch several strike teams to investigate. Only a handfull survivors remain and most of them possessed by the tyranids. The Tech-priest Severus was found barely alive wired into the ships system.

The Cult Mechanicus transferred his conciousness into a servitor. He now awaits new challenges the Inquisitors or the Cult Mechanicus has in store for him.

The Crunch:

Minimum 500XP to cover the cost of full resurrection. He would start with 0XP in terms of advancement. Team mates would be either survivors of the same Grand Cruiser or normal Inquisitorial acolytes starting with atleast 500XP.

A small group, not too large.

Story could really be anything. I'm building him towards a combat monster providing heavy weapons fire and can handle himself in melee.

I would prefer ship based campaign. Atleast a ship as a base of operations. Nothing against planetside missions. I just like walking abandoned dark corridors of a ship hearing your footsteps echo and the only light is your flash light.

Any thoughts?

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I have been rambling on since this forum started of starting up a fairly complex system of a hulk mission involving lots of maps and a new and different dynamic that is to complex to get into right now, but rmail me please.  I would love to run a Genestealer game involving the "Sisters of Battle" stuck on a huge "cathedral hulk", overrun by Genestealer cult.  A Dark Heresy game with plenty of heavy combat, intrigue and trusting no one..Slaanesh might even make an cameo.  It is a big project and I know you are looking for something small, maybe we could meet in the middle?  Welcome any how I have not seen you post here, but I would bet all my thrones you find what you are looking for, flakk runs this forum like an Imperial Saint carrying an Ork choppa!!!

Forges warm brother.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I haven't posted in a long while in this forum.

I like the idea of a Inquisitorial strike force that inspects drifting hulks and ghostly ships. Heavy combat with light to medium puzzles(opening of bulk heads and trying to open sealed areas etc.) and investigation of how the hulk became what it is or who currently lives in it.

Maybe a mid or higher level squad specifically trained for that kind of work.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Actually that sounds like it would be good for my Adept idea. I think even if it was a group that is sent to search the floating space hulks might need someone to document the trip and make reports to the emperor who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I'm in a game with flakk too, he has passed on more random but almost always useful DH and WHFRP info than anyone could imagine.  I hate the idea's constantly put on threads about rating players and DMs so gamers could justify trashing and bad mouthing players and GM's and all their ideas on how to rate players and DMs is so asinine I can't believe the time wasted constructing these ridiculous hamster modules (unless they can type faster than me they are wasting serious time, if I didn't type for a living I wouldn't be on RPol in the first place, damn carpal mutations).  But if they did come up with some construct of rating GM's by the Golden Throne of the Living God Emperor, flakk would be dubbed a living Saint of Game Mastering.

I am not trying to win any brownie points, by now I know he couldn't give a frakk, he basically is Lebowski, the dude abides, even every day OOC stuff he comes up with is awesome.  He patrols the www like a Genestealer cult, relentlessly finding all that is good about DH and WHRP.  Plus is style of handling a game is not only true to the game, himself, the other players, the rules (but not a monger) and the story that he is working on, yet half the stuff he just runs on the fly letting the characters run the game.  And that is the Golden or Silver rule of Game Mastering, like a child should be, seen but not heard.  His game is like being in a movie, directed by Steven Soderberg (sorry about the spelling).  Try and get a copy of Schizopolis, he did "Crash" and "Kafka" and all sorts of Hollywood diatribe, but if you get to see Schizopolis I think you might have a sense of how flakk's mind works (minus Orks)...... yes this is ridiculously long it is 10:02 a.m. in Beirut and I need to reload my stubber.  Happy hunting brothers.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Yeah it is probably Ork custom to be-head those who go to far with praise, don't want the boyz and nobz thinkin' too much on there own, that always causes dangers usually with some sort of ballista and fungal brew....Oh god here comes Darzak and he just read a whole series of Nancy Drew, lets get em you slobberin' snotlling birthlings!!!

You should see Orks at a the dinner table, better put your fork in the right skull, one for meat, the lettuce one for skulls, shudder Orks are so cool yet so close to what humans could become....W. Bush had some Ork like qualities a little CGI and he look like a regular painboyz. Serious thanks flakk.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Oh man that is so funny, just because I've been on a Ork and Communism/Carl Marx with my favorite gaming friend.  That would make a great adventure or story, Algard I hope you have read some Sandy Mitchel "CIAPHAS CAIN", serious brit humor, I have mentioned it before in the comic book thread.  It is in my opinion John Cleese playing a sarcastic Commissar looking for an easy life and a way to stay out of peril in the 40k, who i always thrown into the deadliest situation, and by luck and self-preservation always ends up an Imperial Hero.
