Re: DH: GM Wanted

"Oh no, you on the the Cain I.V. drip too, I smell a Cain DH game, this forum is so full of 40k knowledge, not to mention quick witted and spot on funny, some of the posts make me think of Cain and laugh, XP highly granted for humorous posts, a GM Commissar leading a rabble of Guardsmen and High Ranking officers, could make for some great stuff.  Just when I start another game this comes up.

Sorry flakk, in advance for this shameless plug.

Algard if you read comics and are looking for something humorous yet dark, 5 of us just this morning signed onto a forum that will make every day Dick and Jane's try their luck as er Super-Citizens, basically  just what would happen if a guy like Cain was forced into chaos.

Forum dubbed:   The Umbrella Academy.

post script:

Yeah, new Cain just keeps getting better as his editors give him some more slack.  Plus did you get any of Black Libraries awesome soft-covers, some sort of vellum plastic, almost a hardback makes the book even better as I have trashed my copy of the first three novel Omnibus, and Clint Langley's art is still in near mint condition.  I only bring it up because I am a book freak.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Any openings in DH games you know of? Or soon to start games?

I'm currently without a DH and WHFRP game.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Thinking about running one here. My thing is with visuals, Especially with NPC's and maps and such. But I don't feel like I should make a shit ton of NPC just to show a small portrait of the NPC in question.

But I think I could be convinced to move on with the plan, especially if my tattered fates book comes in today...

Re: DH: GM Wanted

All the way back to RevMark's supercool Commissar, someone has to run a slow tongue-in-cheek game based on the Ciaphas Cain novels, seriously I think there are like three of us who have and believe if you are reading a book, just put it down and read one chapter, you won't probably pick the other book back up.  Didn't someone run an all guardsmen game already? Any way there wouldn't need to be much of a plot, watch the Adventures of Baron Von Munchasen in blue-ray on liquid lysergic acid 25 and some amasec or obscura, a caucasian for the GM.

We used to always have a back up game in most my groups after pulling one of those two and a half days and when someone asks for the time you ask day or night and when someone asks what day you ask what year. . Five or six d4 lodged in your foot, some stranger passed out in the hot tub and a car that landed in a tree.  Good old bullet-proof testosterone and hormones turning your brain into pure reptile.

A semi ridiculous game with monty python skits as plot points the game would be grand, unless we saw combat which Ciaphas tries at all cost to avoid

Re: DH: GM Wanted

I would love to take part in a Chaiphas Cain style, tongue-in-cheek 40K game, but given that I am doing my best to do that as the Commissar in RevMark's game already I would probably try it with a different career.

Personally, I think if you want to go for tongue-in-cheek game you should set it in a Necromunda style hive world where the truly mind shattering horrors of the 40k universe are unknown and people can realistically be more sarcastic and humourous.

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Point well taken it would be a bit of a dynamic pain in the ass unless it was a very small group.

In all seriousness if you are really busy save it up for when you are not, or at least until the weather starts to suck again.....

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Have to agree with flakk if you have to ask if you have time to run the game you probably shouldn't, plus I to hail from where the summer is a fleeting bitch goddess, I was in Seattle and the sun was out people were down on there knees worshiping Ra tearing their clothes off, sacrificing pale assed virgins, tearing down ceilings, but still.... sippin starbucks.  In Algard we trust.  I hear fates though is temptingly good? Anyone on the forum have a review for us minus spoilers?

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Well the best fact i can say (without any spoilers) about Fates is that it is very openminded. No descriptions, the descriptions are more a guide then terms written in stone so it opens up more for the Gamemaster to do with as he wish.
Sure this might be a problem for some newer Gamemasters expecting a prewritten adventure without much tought in from the GM (See Thousand thrones)
But overal i have to say it is a pleasingly good adventure and hope FFG keeps up the quality they have shown in their latest books

And yeah, have to finish my painting projects before i think of starting a game here on RPOL.
But Hey, stay tuned

Re: DH: GM Wanted

Hey everyone I'm looking to get into something like an introduction game of Dark Heresy to learn both the rules and the setting.  I've never done anything with Warhammer so this is all pretty new to me but the system is interesting and I like some of what I have read for the setting.  If there is someone out there who would be willing to teach either on a one on one basis or in a small group setting then please let me know!
