Arctos charges towards the demon, wounding one Orc and then another with his weapon as he does so. Behind him, Brannoc’s arrows put the two Orcs out of everyone’s misery. The Demon moves to intercept Arctos, leaping from the raised altar platform to the benches, with greater agility than its heavy, bestial form might suggest. As it gets closer, they can see that it is winged, and its foul jaws ooze like those of a rabid wolf… although the Demon’s jaws have no lips to hide the curved, knifelike teeth. And then, they don’t see much of the Demon at all. Darkness cloaks it, as if all the light around it was suddenly sucked into shadow.
The eyes of the Dwarves adjust. Their cavern-adapted eyes can track the creature, even in this darkness, although the Humans see nothing.
But there is more to it. Around Arctos, the darkness seems to take physical form, thickening, becoming a viscous substance that impedes his movements. It strengthens with every moment.
The Hun Shaman turns to follow Arctos. Still hindered by the Silence, he uses less mystical means to attack Arctos, the traditional Orcish tactic of “Wuppim Onna Head”. He attacks Arctos from behind, and the Dwarf is struck mightily by the shaman’s warhammer.
Arctos’s head is ringing… and the Demon is still there.
