Request to Join / Character Sheet

For an introduction to Academy of Celestial Learning and its setting, go here.

Students

I am not actively accepting characters at this point in time due to a large influx of them recently. However if you have an amazing concept that I think would fit a niche we haven't got covered yet, I may consider it.

Here are the available types/castes.
- Lunar: Waxing Moon, Waning Moon, No Moon
- Sidereal: Battles*

* means there's no student PCs of this caste at the time of this writing (the others are repeats)

Professors

We've got plenty of professors now!

Request to Join

Submit your RTJ with the following info. (Edited again on Sept 4 2009.) Check the Academy Roster to see what character types have been taken. I do not mind overlaps as long as there's a max of 2 of each Exalt type for students.

1) Desired Character Name

2) Desired Exalt Type (Solar, Lunar, Sidereal only) and Caste

3) Desired Role; can be one of the below
- Student (basic level)
- Student (intermediate level)
- Student (advanced level)
- Professor (guest lecturer)
- Professor (full-time lecturer)

If Student, also mention which Caste/Favored Abilities you will concentrate on.

If Professor, also mention what field(s) of study your character would be interested in teaching.

4) A writing sample describing your concept in at least two paragraphs. This can be in character or out of character. I want to see that you are able to write in complete sentences with proper punctuation, capitalization and spelling, as well as gauge your creativity as a roleplayer.

5) The Academy of Celestial Learning requires a lot of activity on the players' part. Can you commit to posting at least 5 times a week (explained absences aside)?

6) This game does not always have narration to push you from one event to the next. At times (particularly on game days you don't have classes to attend) you may have to take some initiative to get yourself involved in off days, by generating interaction with other PCs or NPCs, starting events of your own or getting involved in other optional plots. Is this type of play something you'd enjoy?

Character Sheet (general info)

Once your RTJ has been accepted, you can submit a character sheet.

The following rules are general to all levels of Academy standing. (See below posts for more specific rules.)

Backgrounds

Students: You do not have to buy Mentor or Sifu. It is implied that by attending the Academy, your Professors serve as these figures.

Professors: You are also assumed to have Backing (Academy of Celestial Learning) 3. So you don't have to put points into that particular Backing unless you are actually raising it above 3.

Also, Professors need not pay BP for your apprentice(s) IF they are Player Characters. You can discuss this OOC amongst each other before starting play, if you want to start with a PC as an assistant.

You will also be receiving a stipend, so if you decide to buy Resources/Wealth on your own, those are funds you have brought yourself. You may NOT buy more Academy Salary with BP than what is listed below; Salary only goes up with RP. For Advanced Students and Professors, the Manse comes with the Salary 'package' so you need not spend BP on it. You may buy other Manses with BP (unless you are a Basic student) but your 'official' address in Anthegenia will be the Manse given with your Salary.

(Since this was brought up to me, Salary is not actually Quintessence/Ambrosia in this case. I needed a term to differentiate Academy Salary from Wealth. The worth is basically the same, though.)

- Basic Students: Academy Salary 1. Your lodgings if you enter the Academy at this level are dorm only.
- Intermediate Students: Academy Salary 2. You may choose to move out of the dorm into a small apartment, or a Manse of level 1 or 2.
- Advanced Students: Academy Salary 2. Your property on Anthegenia is a single Manse up to level 3, which you keep only as long as you are associated with the Academy and remain in good standing there.
- Professor (Established): Academy Salary 3. Your property on Anthegenia is a single Manse up to level 4, which you keep only as long as you are associated with the Academy and continue teaching classes. You may take on an apprentice or two among the advanced students, but it's not required.
- Professor (Influential): Academy Salary 4. Your property on Anthegenia is a single Manse up to level 5, which you keep only as long as you are associated with the Academy, continue teaching classes, and contribute significant research to the betterment of the city. You ought to have at least one student apprentice at this level, too.

After character generation, Backgrounds will be gained through roleplay, not experience points.

Lunars

If you're considering creating a First Age Lunar, remember that Lunars have no Changing Moon Caste, and do not need tattoos to fix Caste. Other than Full Moon and No Moon, the following castes are available.

Waxing Moons, the priests and courtiers of Luna. Their Caste Attributes are Charisma, Manipulation, and Appearance. They may channel 10 motes of Essence through their anima, causing them to glow with a silvery light that illuminates an area with a radius of (Essence x 5) yards in all directions. While active, they gain additional lethal and bashing soak equal to Essence against all attacks from creatures of the Wyld, and can add their Essence to the minimum number of dice rolled for post-soak damage against Wyld creatures. This power comes into play automatically when the Waxing Moon has spent 11+ Peripheral Essence.

Half Moons, the judges and strategists of Luna. Their Caste Attributes are Charisma, Perception, and Intelligence. They may channel 5 motes into their anima, allowing them to add dice equal to Permanent Essence to Join Battle, Join Debate and Join War rolls, and to all rolls to detect unexpected attacks for the remainder of the scene. This power comes into play automatically when the Waxing Moon has spent 11+ Peripheral Essence.

Waning Moons, the rogues and tricksters of Luna. Their Caste Attributes are Dexterity, Manipulation, and Wits. Their anima power (as far as I can tell!) is equivalent to the modern Changing Moon anima power.

Full Moon and No Moon remain pretty much the same.

Character Sheet (student, basic level)

The basic student character generation is for those who wish to play a *very* newly Exalted Heroic Mortal.

Attributes: 6/4/3. If Lunar, note your Caste Attributes, choose one Favored Attribute, and add one dot to a Caste or Favored Attribute.

Abilities: 22 (none may be higher than 3 without BP; cannot have more than one Ability at 5.) If applicable, note Caste Abilities, and choose as many Favored as your Exalt Type (5 for Solar, 4 for Sidereal. Must have at least 10 dots in Caste/Favored Abilities, and at least 1 in each Favored Ability.)

Backgrounds: 5. Also note Academy Salary as above. You cannot buy Backing, Command or Manse at this level. You may not have more than one dot of Arsenal and/or Panoply, and no more than 3 dots in any other background (there may be exceptions allowed with permission, ask if you have one). If you buy individual Artifacts, they will be considered property of the Academy until you have moved on to Intermediate level, meaning they can be confiscated from you should you misbehave.

Charms/Knacks: 5 for Solar, 4 for Lunar or Sidereal. All must be from Caste/Favored Abilities or Attributes, and Lunar must have at least 1 Knack (unless you want to start at Essence 1. Then just choose 4 Charms.) You cannot start with Sorcery or Martial Arts, you must initiate these at the Academy.

Colleges (Sidereal only): 3, all must be in the Colleges of the Sidereal's Maiden.

Virtues: 5 (none may be higher than 4 without BP). Note your Virtue Flaw and Limit Break (as appropriate for your Exalt type).

Essence: 1. You may raise it to 2 with bonus points, but no higher.

Bonus Points: 21. Use the BP costs of your Exalt type.

Character Sheet (student, intermediate level)

The intermediate student character generation is for those who wish to play a young Exalt looking to enrich his or her knowledge with formal education.

Use standard character generation for Solar, Lunar and Sidereal in their respective splatbooks, not Dreams of the First Age. However, there are some differences, so I will detail the entirety below.

Attributes: 8/6/4. If Lunar, note your Caste Attributes, choose one Favored Attribute, and add one dot to a Caste or Favored Attribute.

Abilities: 25 (none may be higher than 3 without BP.) If applicable, note Caste Abilities, and choose as many Favored as your Exalt Type (5 for Solar, 4 for Sidereal. Must have at least 10 dots in Caste/Favored Abilities, and at least 1 in each Favored Ability.) Do NOT use any minimums mentioned in splatbooks. There is no reason for Sids to have more dots than others as they are no more privileged than other Celestials in this age.

Backgrounds: 7 (none may be higher than 3 without BP.) Also note Academy Salary and Manse as above.

Charms/Knacks: 10 for Solar, 8 for Lunar or Sidereal. (For Solar, 5 must be from Caste/Favored Abilities; for Lunar, at least 1 Knack, and 3 Charms from Caste/Favored Attributes; for Sidereal, 4 must be from Caste/Favored Abilities.) You cannot start with Solar Circle Sorcery or Sidereal Martial Arts, nor can you have a completed Celestial MA style.

Colleges (Sidereal only): 5, at least 3 must be in the Colleges of the Sidereal's Maiden.

Virtues: 5 (none may be higher than 4 without BP.) Note your Virtue Flaw and Limit Break (as appropriate for your Exalt type).

Essence: 2. You may raise it to 3 with bonus points, but no higher.

Bonus Points: 15. Use the BP costs of your Exalt type.

Character Sheet (student, advanced level)

The advanced student character generation is for those who have already completed basic and intermediate education, but wish to continue on with research projects or teaching experience as the apprentice/assistant of a Professor.

Attributes: 8/6/4. If Lunar, note your Caste Attributes, choose one Favored Attribute, and distribute two additional dots among Caste or Favored Attributes.

Abilities: First of all, you get extra dots from being schooled previously, both in a general Celestial curriculum and a Caste-specific one. You must assign these FIRST before any other Ability expenditure.

Celestial curriculum (8 additional free dots)

- 1 dot in Bureaucracy, Presence or Socialize
- 2 dots in Lore
- 2 dots in Occult
- 1 dot in Ride or Sail
- 2 dots allocated among Archery, Martial Arts, Melee, Thrown

Caste-specific curriculum (4 additional free dots)

- Dawn Caste Solar: 2 dots in Archery, Martial Arts, Melee or Thrown; 1 dot in Ride or Sail; 1 dot in War
- Zenith Caste Solar: 1 dot in Bureaucracy; 2 dots in Performance; 1 dot in Presence
- Twilight Caste Solar: 1 dot each in Craft, Lore, Medicine, Occult
- Night Caste Solar: 2 dots in Investigation or Larceny; 1 dot in Archery, Martial Arts, Melee or Thrown; 1 dot in Stealth
- Eclipse Caste Solar: 1 dot in Integrity; 1 dot in Linguistics; 1 dot in Ride or Sail; 1 dot in Bureaucracy, Perfprmance, Presence or Socialize

- Full Moon Lunar: 1 dot in Archery, Martial Arts, Melee or Thrown; 1 dot in Survival; 1 dot in War
- Waxing Moon Lunar: 1 dot each in Performance, Presence, Socialize, Survival
- Half Moon Lunar: 1 dot each in Investigation, Presence, Survival, War
- Waning Moon Lunar: 2 dots in Larceny; 1 dot in Stealth; 1 dot in Survival
- No Moon Lunar: 1 dot each in Craft, Lore, Occult, Survival

- Journeys Sidereal: 1 dot in Athletics or Survival; 1 dot in Linguistics; 1 dot in Martial Arts; 1 dot in Ride or Sail
- Serenity Sidereal: 1 dot in Craft, Medicine or Performance; 1 dot in Martial Arts; 1 dot in Presence; 1 dot in Socialize
- Battles Sidereal: 2 dots in Archery, Melee or Martial Arts; 2 dots in War
- Secrets Sidereal: 1 dot in Awareness or Investigation; 1 dot in Larceny or Socialize; Martial Arts 1; Stealth 1
- Endings Sidereal: 1 dot in Awareness or Dodge; 2 dots in Martial Arts; 1 dot in Stealth

After this you have 25 more dots to distribute as a Solar or Sidereal (at least 10 must be from Caste/Favored abilities; at least 1 in each Favored Ability; none may be higher than 3 without BP) or 20 as a Lunar (at least 1 in each Favored Ability; none may be higher than 3 without BP). Note your Caste and Favored Abilities (5 for Solar, 4 for Sidereal, 2+Survival for Lunars) if applicable.

Backgrounds: 12 for Solar, 10 for Lunar or Sidereal (none may be higher than 3 without BP). Also note Academy Salary and Manse as above.

Charms/Knacks: 12 for Solar, 10 for Lunar or Sidereal. (For Solar/Sid, 5 must be from Caste/Favored Abilities; for Lunar, at least 1 Knack, and 4 Charms from Caste/Favored Attributes.)

Colleges (Sidereal only): 7, at least 4 must be in the Colleges of the Sidereal's Maiden.

Virtues: 5 (none may be higher than 4 without BP). Note your Virtue Flaw and Limit Break (as appropriate for your Exalt type).

Essence: 3.

Bonus Points: 15. Use the BP costs of your Exalt type.

Character Sheet (professor)

Professors also use Dreams of the First Age. The base level is Established.

Below are additions for Established characters. Use the Advanced Student chargen as detailed above but with these replacements.

I'll type up Influential also if anyone decides they really want it. (After reading up on their stats, I'd rather avoid Influential or greater if possible, but I'll read any private requests about it.)

Established Solar

Attributes: 10/8/7

Abilities: After the free Celestial and Caste-specific training dots, divide 20 more dots among Caste and Favored Abilities (with at least 1 in each Favored), then 35 more dots to spend as desired, and 3 free specialty dots. The maximum number of dots in each Ability is either 5 or equal to the character's Essence, whichever is higher.

Backgrounds: 20, no Background can be raised above 4 without bonus points. An Established Solar may purchase a Legendary Background (6 dots) with bonus points if her Essence is 5+.

Charms: 30, 12 from Caste/Favored.

Virtues: 7, can raise to 5 without BP.

Essence: 4.

Bonus Points: 15.

Established Lunar

Attributes: 10/8/7 +3 additional dots to allocate among Caste and Favored.

Backgrounds: 18, no Background can be raised above 4 without bonus points. An Established Lunar may purchase a Legendary Background (6 dots) with bonus points if her Essence is 5+.

Charms/Knacks: 27, at least 5 each of Charms and Knacks, at least 10 Charms from Caste/Favored Attributes.

Virtues: 7 (none may be higher than 4 without BP).

Essence: 4.

Bonus Points: 15.

Established Sidereal
