Voices voices, I hear voices... What?  Oh, a voice for Phantasm?  Uh, probably Emma Stone.  Yeah.  I like that.

Now, back to the voices...

Happy egg day everybody, hope you enjoy the chocolate's the rabbits laid for you.

If not, you can always go listen to the cheerful German GLaDOS.

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

So, I was told about a show called King of the Nerds, and having watched the entirety of the first season, I must say that it's good to seem my (our) peoples on tv in all their nerdy, slightly dysfunctional, glory.

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

Sounds interesting, might have to watch it.

I had a bit of a hiccup there in posting, but on the upside, new job obtained.

I'll post replies and move things along in the next 0-2 days.  Sorry for the delay.

I was hoping to get a few more replies and/or interaction on full circle before moving too much further though.  Not sure who is still interested and/or who is swamped by job/finals/etc., so I'm certainly not trying to pressure anyone, just letting you know that I'll move things forward for your character if I don't hear from you soon, just so we can keep the scene moving forward and finish off this portion of the story.

Kaze, not sure if you noticed when i mentioned this before, so I will bring it up again in case you want to participate: you can be in the full circle scene, you were at the meetings after all.

Sol, you are conscious again by the time you get to the bottom of the elevator shaft.  Just achey and very heavily bruised.

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

Sorry about the lack of participation. I did catch that but was unsure where to work myself in. My original reason before you had brought it up was that I was too busy and missed posting in the meeting so thought I was too late and got left out. Another aspect was how I've played Kaze's hate towards the Teregen. She probably would have been cool with her friends and maybe Kraken... But when the rest showed up she probably would have abandoned the team. It's just a matter at this point of working her in...

'Kaze: Yeah, I figured.  No worries, you can just say you were "there all along", or your super-speed can allow you to slip in and follow the others.  The distraction that Pax is providing is more than enough to let you do so.

'Sol: Hopefully the time off lets you get feeling better at least, and maybe get in some entertainment time while you are off.

I actually liked the crazy talk, though I wasn't sure whether it was on purpose.

It suits the mood, and powerlessness has been hard on all the terats, not just Grav.

It's funny, without the mega-charisma I feel like I need to make Comstock's speechifying efforts more jockish and awkward.

Also, to keep momentum in the game I'm going to update again sunday morning at the latest to have Comstock hop through the portal.

I sit down to update, the tornado sirens go off.

I'll be back on later assuming my apartment (and thus computer) is here when I get back :)

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

So fun tidbit: since I work for a power company down here in Central Oklahoma, all those Tornados are really rustling my jimmies.  Looking at some back to back shifts and whatnot, not to mention the damages and human suffering involved.  But I'll try to keep abreast of matters here and post, because this game is still damn fun and I want everyone to get involved in the showdown.

Those of you not in the Oklahoma area, may I suggest good insurance if you plan to move down here?  Or at the very least living on the eastern side of a well populated area?  I'm not one to go advocating directly for aid organizations and all that, but I am one to ask everyone learn from disaster and take appropriate precautions.

For everyone in central Oklahoma, stay frosty.  It's still pretty hairy out there.  And for the love of all that is good, if you are going to build around here, built with an angled roof and round walls to minimize the damage from high winds.  And a basement too. It's an investment.

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

Hey everybody,
I hope that you and your families all safe and sound.  Watching the news on the storms on CNN and it's horrifying.  Why hasn't the government changed building codes to make mandatory things like concrete walls, basements, storm cellars...?

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

They are mandatory in some areas.  And we'd bury all the electric lines if we had another ~$55 billion dollars.  At the end of the day, though, living just about anywhere is a roll of the dice, and most people want/need housing now, not good housing sometime in the future.

'Stock, I second your statements.  Me and mine were fortunate enough to avoid the worst of it, though the tornado in Edmond was just down the street, and hopefully the job I just got is still secure (Moore school psychologist).  Work hard and remember to take care of yourself in the process.

Imp, thanks for the note of concern.

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

So another fun tidbit.  You know that tornado that hit the same place back in '99?  How would you guess people rebuilt in the immediate aftermath of said tornado?  If you guessed "to precisely the same standards as failed in said tornado" you win 10 quid.

http://journals.ametsoc.org/do...ATDSAMO%3E2.0.CO%3B2

With hurricane anchors tying the roof to the house and the house to the foundation and no other changes an ordinary house will withstand 160 mph winds with maybe a loss of shingles.  But it costs $0.85 per connection so that would add $500 or so to the cost of the house.  And that just cannot stand.

Long story short damage is probably going to be excessive.  And to a large extent unnecessary.

Facepalm.
Mind you, I am looking at moving to a community that is at risk if a tsunami hits, and I'm guessing most of the buildings there aren't built to withstand one.  Of course, tsunamis do not happen there every year, nor is the area known as tsunami alley.

Re: OOC: 12 Mar 13 - ?

Now, mind you, being directly under the tornado is not usually survivable for residential structures.  For that you want concrete forms, a dug in bunker, something of that nature.  But once the first tie on a normal roof fails, the whole roof quickly follows and insurance claims jump to 80% of the property (on average).  If you just put the hurricane ties in, your house can survive everything short of massive flung debris and direct exposure to the tornado itself.

The tornados aren't going away, guys.  They just aren't.

Sorry.  Still at work.  Found this soap box here and didn't know what to do.

OK, so my hard drive was the last original part on my comp, so naturally it died too. But it's now ok, because a laptop has been acquired. I'll catch up.

It occurs to me that despite my skill at fixing the bloody things, my luck with them is abysmal. Will consider this.
