Re: Garstone Shore

What's the difference between this guy and a bunch of poachers, now that I think about it? Don't they both hunt game in the forest, just one doesn't have permission to do so?

Also, so much for all getting along. :(

Siliwen is a bit crusty with good looking men who seem to be full of themselves.  Once bitten twice shy  She is a nice enough person, once she lets down hr defensive reactions.   I promise

A few teething arguments, that's all ;) Besides, you don't have to like each other to work together - just don't try and kill/maim/sabotage one another please :P

Re: Garstone Shore

No fourth of july for me.  It's too hot, there's a burn ban where I am, and we're under stage 2 drought conditions.

On another note, what's gonna happen to Milo? Is he just gonna fade away? Or are you gonna kill him off next chance you get, Mr.DM?

Re: Garstone Shore

Hmm, kill him off...I hadn't thought of that!

We shall see - he'll probably just go home, since he's semi-local.

My unofficial policy is that if someone disappears with a word for two weeks, they become NPCs. If after a further time they haven't contacted me to explain the had some unexpected RL issue, the character disappears somehow. Unless I like the character enough to steal it for use as an NPC that is!

Re: Garstone Shore

If a player tells me they're not going to be with us anymore, I'll usually kill of the PC when ever I can.  Or just NPC him until he dies.  The only problem is sometimes they just don't want to die....

I'm going to be pretty busy.  There's a lot of personal stuff going on right now, so if I drop off for a few days, or if I'm holding the game up, just NPC me or something.

I'll try and get posts in when I can.  I'm not expecting a stable schedule for the next couple of weeks, so just letting you guys know.

Re: Garstone Shore

Eh, no need to make death cheap. NPCing them and moving them off the screen somehow's good enough.

Re: Garstone Shore

I'm still busy.  Right now me and my family are moving so that's why I've been gone, there's some other stuff, too, but I'd rather not mention it here.

Let's see if I can get a post up.

No probs, I've noted you in the absences thread as being unavailable for a while. Never going to be a problem as long as you let us know, which you have :)

The whys and wherefores are for you to worry about, not us :)

Re: Garstone Shore

Thanks for understanding.  I've packed my DND books away, but I think I can still post some RP stuff.  Heck, I've been playing so long that I could probably battle without use of the book anymore.

I certainly don't always need the books! Also the SRD is handy - I use it when at work.

Re: Garstone Shore

Yeah, same here.  There's some things that I might be rusty on, but I really don't need to books unless I'm leveling my character up, or DMing.

I don't use the SRD.  I really never need to.  But I guess I may need to now, with my books being packed.

Re: Garstone Shore

I use it all the time. After 3.0 became 3.5, I had no desire whatsoever to buy the new set, so the online SRD was a godsend.

Re: Garstone Shore

True that.  I was using my friend's books for the 3.0, and I went down and bought the 3.5 a few days after they released them.  I would've been pretty angry if I'd bought the 3rd edition, and then a few days later they released the 3.5.

I'm still pissed that they discontinued the 3.5 books. I still needed COmplete Arcane, Complete Scoundrel, and Complete psionics! And I also wanted the Races of Dragon and Wild book, too! BAH!

Thanks for the link.  :)  What was the coat of arms link you told us about a while back? I usually draw these things myself, but with no way of getting them onto the computer, I'd rather do it this way.  It'd be much easier.

It was a couple of months rather than a few days, but that's what happened to me. I still don't own the 3.5 books - I just use my gaming group's copies. We often club together to buy rulebooks. Think we ended up buying two extra PHBs as we needed them so frequently around the table!

I didn't know they'd discontinued the 3.5 books! There are quite a few I would still have liked. Though I get just as much use from 3rd party books, which I tend to buy in pdf form as they're hard to get hold of here in the UK.

Here's one link:
http://inkwellideas.com/coat_of_arms/?page_id=8

That one works online and will output to .png. It can be a bit quirky but is generally handy!

Re: Garstone Shore

I know, but I was very close to buying the 3rd edition books just days before the 3.5 came out.  I didn't know about the 3.5 edition, of course, so I would've been pretty screwed.

Yes, they discontinued the 3.5 books in favor of the 4th edition supplements.  Screw 4th edition, they took the Half-orc and Barbarian out of the core PHB, and put them in an accessory book!

The coat-of-arms creator is proving harder than I'd first expected.  I'll make one eventually, though!

Actually it's classed as a core book now - but I know what you mean. One of my tabletop group refused to try it until the Druid was back in. It now is, and I have to say we're finding it a lot of fun so far, and it hasn't really made much difference to our play aside from allowing us to do more in an adventuring day...

Yeah, the coat-of-arms thing is tricky. If you get totally fed up with it you could describe the design to me and I'll try and replicate it.

Re: Garstone Shore

Yeah, it just makes me mad that I spent all that money on the books I have now and they discontinued them, and that I have to spend more to get an extra book for a class that should be in the first book.

And it angers me that they took the Ranger's Animal companion away. Atleast that's what a buddy told me.

I'll get the coat of arms thing up eventually, and if all else fails then I'll describe it to you. :)

I made a knowledge nobility and royalty check to see if I recognized that name that Nal just mentioned, but I think I failed horribly.  (Natural 1)

Re: Garstone Shore

As I posted in another game lately, they're seperate games, one shouldn't compare directly. I sympathise though, I like animal companions!

I'm away for a week from tomorrow. I'm going to leave you as you are, talking into the evening - you seem to be doing some good character development and interaction :) If you get to the point where you'll sleep, that's fine, there are several comfortable enough spots around the clearing.
