Re: Thallas's Thread

OOC: Okay, Noble turned Bounty Hunter it is. I'll begin to make character, but it'll take some time. Is there anything (besides Survival) that he need to take?

Re: Thallas's Thread

No other requirements. Take your time. It may be a bit before we're in an appropriate place game-wise to add you.

You may use any of the available official supplements for character creation and there are pretty much no restrictions.

Re: Thallas's Thread

Almost there, but in need of little help.

I can't find how much money Noble 1/Scout 4 could get for equipment. Where should I look?

Re: Thallas's Thread

You get full starting credits at first level.

Then, you get an additional 1500 credits.

If you took Noble at first level, then you would have: 2700 credits to spend total.

If this isn't enough, you may ask me for specific items beyond that.

Re: Thallas's Thread

"There is nothing better that the thrill of the hunt. I tried many things when I was younger, and believe me -- tracking prey, outsmarting it and finally overpowering it is make one's feel like god from these old legends.
It is natural, primal thing. Animals are honest -- gundarks won't politely chat with you while preparing some kind of intrigue; they just attack. I wish my so-called relatives were as straightforward. I hate with their petty politicking. I had more than my share of it.

Imagine that -- is it fair to sent a man to exile for just a short trip in the forest, and two blaster shots fired? No? But they did, and you can't believe the fuss they made. 'Endangered species', 'about to extinct'... what a load of poodoo! I bet they never met Kerodean forest devil in person -- the beast could make anyone extinct first.

Probably if I kept silence, they would forget the matter. They did that many times in the past. But I wasn't -- I researched the archives and found that hunting the forest devils was a favorite pastime of our ancestors. I just restored the noble tradition, and instead of thanks I got a starship ticket and order to never come back. Cretins.

Heh. In some sense I grateful for that. Surely, I spend some time shooting mynocks for small change, but I understood an important thing: the Galaxy is big unruly place that is akin of jungle; these fools in their cozy cages don't know a jack. There is people that as dangerous as fierciest predators, and there are those who hunt them. I'm one of these hunters now. Mind you, I can't handle the biggest game yet, but someday..."

Re: Thallas's Thread

How's something like this?

Thallas pursued a Twi'lek con man who crossed wrong people, and almost catched him, but that guy was killed by accident. The bounty was only partially paid as a result, and the money weren't sufficient for travel off-planet.

Being stuck in the place means that he had a lot of free time. Thallas had a little R&R (on which he spent almost all his money by now) and actively looking for a new job, up an including taking part in lylek hunting parties.

Re: Thallas's Thread

OOC: That'll work. K. Let's slide you in, then.

In Character:

While Thallas lounged in the cesspit of a cantina drinking up the last of his funds, a contact of his walked into the place. The twi'lek, Skan Olan, was the son of a wealthy family here in Kala'uun, and Thallas had spent some time carousing with the man when they were younger. Skan's family was well known and owned the Olan Marquis Hotel in the upper levels of the city. The Marquis was a posh luxury hotel and catered to all sorts.

Skan was a reasonably handsome twi'lek, although Thallas had met his younger brother, Valsil, who had gotten all of the looks and most of the brains. Skan was smart enough, but nowhere near as brilliant as his brother.

"Hey, Thallas," the green-skinned twi'lek said as he sat down, "I think I've got a job for you, if you're interested. Why don't I buy you another drink and we can talk about it?"

Re: Thallas's Thread

"Drinks are welcome. Job's too," Thallas just finished counting his remaining credits in his mind, which put him in rather bad mood, "What is it? Wine cellars of Olan Marquis Hotel got another vermin invasion, I bet. Of nasty alcoholic mynocs, no less.
Come on, tell me. Right now I can take anything."

Re: Thallas's Thread

Skan orders a round of Jawa juice. "We've got some new guests at the Marquis, and they're not alcoholic mynocks, either. I almost wish they were. My cousin, Anwara, says that the head of this group is asking for someone with some skills. Seems like they might need to find someone."

He shrugs, then takes a swig of his drink. "Anwara came to me, and I came to you. If I needed to find someone, I'd definitely ask you first. I don't know what they're paying, but it has to be better than nothing, right?"

"If you're interested, I'll take you over to the Marquis and you can meet them and talk to them about pay."

"Count me in," Thallas downed his glass with one gulp and winced through teeth,
"Just make one thing clear for me. They might need MY abilities, or they need ME to find someone with the right skills? In other words, they hiring or placing a bounty? You sounded too vague."

Re: Thallas's Thread

"I guess it's up to them, Thallas. Anwara just told me their boss lady wanted a hunter, someone who could find someone in the city or if they left the city and headed out onto the surface. I don't know why or who and I don't care. You know I keep my lekku out of this stuff. If it's a permanent position and they need your skills, then all the better for you, but I just don't know."

The twi'lek chugs the rest of his drink as well. "How can you stand this place? The drinks are swill." He makes a face to show his distaste and then looks at Thallas meaningfully. "You in or out? I got a couple other fellas I thought I could ask, but you get the first shot."

Re: Thallas's Thread

Skan leads Thallas out of the cantina to his personal landspeeder. Skan's bodyguards were waiting quietly at the entrance to the cantina, with one of them skulking inside to keep on eye on the kid. Thallas knows that Skan is the Olan heir right now and his mother is a little overprotective, which is why he has four bodyguards and an armored landspeeder.

One of the bodyguards opens the door to the passenger compartment for Skan and Thallas. He nods to Thallas, but keeps an eye on him, and then climbs into the back with them.

The ride to the Marquis isn't too long. They enter one of the secure parking decks and are met by another twi'lek who resembles Skan. "This is my cousin, Anwara," Skan says, as they exit the speeder. "He's the general manager and chief of security of the hotel. I vouched for you, so he's not going to frisk you or have you searched, but don't embarrass me by trying to kill any of the guests, okay?"

Anwara extends his hand in greeting to Thallas. "I won't say you come highly recommended, but the guests requested assistance, so you're convenient. If you'll follow me, we'll head up to the penthouse."

Re: Thallas's Thread

Thallas decided that it wouldn't be wise to take offence for such a minor slight; he half-bowed in greeting, and shaked Anwara's hand.

"Always glad to help, ma'am. Which way?"

Re: Thallas's Thread

Anwara leads Thallas to a turbolift, where he inserts a security key. "This will take us to the upper lobby, and we'll switch to the private turbolift for the penthouse there."

In the lobby, they walk to a private corridor and then there is one more turbolift. "Here we go. We'll be in the foyer of the penthouse in a few moments. I called to let them know we were on our way."

OOC: Moving to the main thread now.

Re: Thallas's Thread

For story purposes, it is expedient for you to have a Z-95 Headhunter equipped with a x2 hyperdrive. It is currently inaccessible, though, as it was impounded when you were not able to pay the docking fees. The pay from this mission should be enough to pay the docking fees and get your ship back..
