Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Krysten tries to trap the arm, but miscalculates and takes the full force of the blow, sending her rolling.  She comes up on her feet and comes back to the fight.

[Private to The Force: 13:50, Today: Krysten Tyner rolled 12 using 1d20+4. Attack Roll.  Next time I roll a 15-17, I'm using a Force Point.  Of course, then I'll get a 1.  :S ]

Varis spins one last time and then comes up under Krysten's guard to uppercut into her solar plexus. She feels her blow connect hard and immediately steps back, though she doesn't drop her guard.

"Are you okay? That was three points. You want to call that a match and you can have a go with Narik in a bit?"
[Private to Krysten Tyner:

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Krysten shudders as the last hit connects.  Instead of letting herself gasp for air, she simply closes her eyes and waits for feeling to return to her abdomen before taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly.  Then she opens her eyes and grins at Varis.

"That was a great match.  We can keep going if you like, I'd love to get a rematch; or you can spar with Narik if you like."

If she was really hurting, it wasn't obvious, but that last hit looked like it would've dropped anyone else.

"I'll promise you a rematch later, if you want. Three points is probably fair for a bout, since we have limited space. It'll be best if everyone gets a shot, especially since we don't know for sure how many people will be coming up here to train."

Varis bows to Krysten. "Good match, Krysten. I'd hate to have to face you with your weapons of choice, if unarmed combat isn't your thing."

She turns to Narik. "You up for a round, Narik?"

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Kala had excused herself after dinner, since fighting in that dress she wore probably wouldn't be the greatest idea. Once the exercise was about to begin, she emerged into the room in a plain white shirt, and dark pants. She nodded to Krysten, Varis, and Narik as she entered, before heading over and looking at the foils.

"Hmm. It's been a while since I actually fenced..." She said, as she smiled and picked up one and held the weapon in her hand, gauging the weight, and taking a few practice swings.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

"Ah, Kala, you are just in time to give me a break! You should spar with Narik, I think. Perhaps the two of you can feel each other out through combat, hmm?"

Now that there is a partner for Narik to spar with besides herself, Varis walks over to a cabinet and pulls out some bottles of room temperature water. She tosses one to Krysten. "Not that you need it, but I'm going to sit down for just a moment. A real sparring match can take it out of you if you aren't careful." She places several other bottles on top of the cabinet before taking one for herself.

OOC: We're running this like a combat, so you'll need to roll and post initiative in private and then roll to hit and stun damage. We'll do first to three points wins the bout. Since you know the rules, there's no need for me to referee at this point. You post your move, roll your to hit and damage, and then the other player determines if you hit. The foils do 1d6 points of stun damage. For pistols, let's do best of 10 shots wins the match.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

"Oh, you fence?" A melodious voice called out not far from Kala's position. There, standing at the threshold of the room was Joron. The time for eating and casual wear had past and now the young dilettante was wearing what appeared to be a two piece silk ensemble consisting of a sleeveless black top, matching trousers and a gold sash at the waist whilst his feet adorned comfortable black shoes. It was dissimilar to typical fencing wear but nevertheless offered freedom of movement.

Entering the room, the young lord gave each occupant a curious glance, the type a man might give a potential rival. It was often said that the true face of a Mandalorian was their armor and to see Krysten without any of it brought about an inquisitive glance. Making his way to the two female combatants, he looked to Varis and then to the Mandalorian. It was obvious to him that the two had just sparred. "How was your match?" He asked, taking care to call neither a winner nor a loser.

"I do. It has been a little while since I've held a blade, but I find it never leaves you." Kala replied, as she donned the nearby visor. "On occasion, when my homeworld was invaded our... natural talents don't work on the invader. So, we hone our bodies to not only be beautiful, but deadly, if needs be."

She finished up her little bit of practice. "So, Narik, do you wish to duel, or should I wait for another challenger?"

Krysten grinned as she laced her fingers together and reached her arms over her head, stretching her solar plexus and forcing herself to breathe.

"It was more than a little educational.  Don't let her fool you, she knows what she's doing.  When I get my breath back, I'll be happy to go with anyone else."

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

The bout versus Krysten and Varis was educational as well as amusing. Both were good fighters and Varis was a lot more than a trophy of Jaerad’s. A contest of unarmed combat would have favoured Narik best but he accepted Kala’s offer to attempt a duel. Narik was keen to size the Zeltron up and would use any opportunity to get closer to her.

Narik nodded to Kala ”if you don’t mind a contest with a novice I’m willing. Neither the Republic or Imperial Academy include fencing in their basic training” he explained as he picked up a visor and put it on. He picked up a foil weighted it in his hands whilst with the other he gestured to the centre of the room where they could begin.

"Well, I don't mind. It's been a while for me as well." Kala replied, as she raised her foil, and prepared to battle Narik. It would give her a good idea of what her compatriots could do.

"Hey...  everyone," Aadun says as he stepped into the weapon salon and realized that he was the last to show up.  He sits down on the sidelines and decides, at least for the moment to watch the action.  He grins when he realizes that Kala and Narik are about to cross swords and is curious to see who would win.  Assuming the room is large enough, he sits up against the wall and not too close to the mat.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

"Oh?" Joron smirked. "I'll keep that in mind."

With a sidelong glance at the redhead, he studied his would-be rival for a moment. If her skills were as admirable as Krysten led him to believe, she could prove a most worthy opponent. Had he only arrived moments ago, he might have studied their technique, learned from it and used it later. However, much like the Mandalorian, he was going to have to take it as it came.

Looking between Kala and Narik, Joron thought of the possibilities. With one participant a novice and the other skilled with a blade, the outcome seemed one sided from a certain point of view. However, that advantage did not ensure things would be one sided for the Zeltron. "Hmm, what do you think?" He asked the Mandalorian with a small perk of his brow.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

The salon is large enough for the duel going on in the center, as well as having room along the sides for seating. In addition to that, there's a clear lane for target practice with the pistols as well in the event that someone wishes to do that while a sparring match is in practice.

Varis takes a seat next to Aadun and sips her water. She doesn't say anything, though.

When Varis sat down next to him, Aadun nodded his head at her before going back to watching the mat.  At first, he doesn't say anything, thinking she may have sat over next to him for a specific reason.  When a few moments go by and she doesn't say anything to him, he leans over and asks, "Who do you think is going to win?"

Aadun couldn't suppress his grin, when she offered to put a wager on the battle.  He looks over and gives Narik a once over, thinking it through in his head.  He had never seen either of them fight before, so he had no real basis to assume that Narik would win.  Then again, it was only fifty credits.  "Sounds like fun.  Fifty credits on Narik then," he says and holds his hand out to shake on it.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Aadun casually shrugs his shoulders and says, "It is something I picked up on the road."  At this point he turns his attention back to the room and notices the light pistols over on the side.  While fencing never really held his interest, he would definitely be interested in that.  "While they're getting started, I think I'm going to go have a look at the pistols."

He stands up and strolls over to have a look.  He picks one of them up and kind of holds it in his hand to get a feel for the weight.  He aims the pistol at the target, but doesn't fire.  After a few moments, he sets it back down where he picks it up and says, "If anybody is interested in trying to beat me, I wouldn't mind playing.  We can wait until after Kala and Narik spar, of course."

Krysten studied the man in silk for a moment.  He was obviously comfortable around weapons of some sort, and his fanciful clothing suggested that he was either a dilettante or had enough money to pay for the best lessons.

"I'd say Narik should fight me, as I've got my breath back, and Joron and Kala should go at it with the foils."

She shrugged.

"It's up to you guys, though."

Narik had his mind focused on his opponent when Krysten spoke. He barely heard the words and failed to acknowledge them. There would always be time to spar with Mandalorian later if she wanted an attempt to restore her honour after the defeat at the hands of Varis Rei.

He faced the Zeltron; he analyzed her body and stance. Narik knew people who would crave the attention of any hedonistic Zeltron in the pursuit of pleasure and others that avoided them as dangerously persuasive not wishing to be made a fool of. Narik was not immediately interested in the former and hoped he would not become the later.

As soon as the pair had nodded and touched swords Narik was on the attack. Knowing his skill with the foil was minimal he pushed his attack hoping to force his opponent to err or to get a lucky strike.

After they had touched foils to begin the match, Kala watched as Narik came foward and attacked. His blow would have been a forceful one, if it had connected. Instead, she sidestepped his attack, and aimed one at him, thrusting the foil foward.

His initial lunge was clumsy. It failed to even give Kala cause to attempt to parry the blow, the soldier recovered well as she sidestepped however. He continued to step forward and ducked beneath the Zeltron counter attack bringing his own blade around to strike with more accuracy this time at his opponent.

Narik was learning, and rather quickly about the intricacies of fencing. She smiled as he brought a counter attack, since her first blow had faired so poorly. She managed to deflect his blade, and bring her own weapon back into position for another attack

"Seems we'll have to wait for such a match," Joron said with a small shrug of his shoulders. He could understand Krysten's desire to get off of the sideline to test her skills again. Now, however, was the perfect opportunity to learn how Kala and Narik dueled. It was an opportunity he was not about to waste. Eyes darting from the movements of their feet and to the way they thrust and parried, upon Kala's latest movement, he opened his lips to speak a simple phrase. "Here it comes..."
