Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 2 Sinya's Clinic

Impoverished and infested by dismal blight, the underside of Kala'uun was a droll and sickening place, one without the charm of grace of the upper city. In a way, it reminded him of the Smuggler's Moon from which they came. Oh it had its dangers, had its fevered citizens and ruffians... but it also had possibilities. Standing only paces away from Kala, Joron Sarrus perked his brow at the security guard's rustic insinuations. Oh she wouldn't recognize them, but, they did possess the letter and that would either prove beneficial or be their downfall. With an air of patience and aloof dignity, the noble waited for the doctor's arrival.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 2 Sinya's Clinic

Sinya walks out of the back of the clinic, presumably from an office or examination room. She's cleansing her hands as she walks with a disinfectant. She's wearing a lab coat with several medical scanning devices clipped to it in various places.

"Ma'am," the guards say to her respectively.

She nods to them and looks at the assembled group of beings, also taking in the woman with the small child. She addresses them first. "My assistant will be with you in a few minutes. He'll get a history and do the basics and I'll be in shortly," she tells the woman reassuringly.

"I don't know any of you," she says, looking through her visitors. "So, why don't you tell me why you're here."

Kala nodded to Sinya, and held up the letter. She did not wish to get too close to actually hand it to her, or else the guards might want to get a little itchy with their trigger fingers.

"We are here today to give you this." Kala said. The letter would explain everything, and as far as she knew, the others hadn't opened it.

Sinya doesn't appear to have any problems getting close to Kala to take the letter. She looks it over carefully after taking it out of Kala's hand and then opens it to read. Her expression is schooled not to reveal her emotions as she reads, appropriate in a doctor who might need to give patients bad news without distressing them too overly much.

After she finishes, she looks over the small crowd again. "All right. This gets you in the door. I'm afraid I don't have enough space for everyone to sit for a private conversation and there's nowhere nearby, either. Are you comfortable standing or do you want to schedule something for later?"

"I am fine standing. Though, I can't speak for the others." Kala replied, as she nodded back to Sinya. She could always sit down later, probably when they had returned to the hotel and were going over the events of the day. She hoped that this meeting would go better then the last one.

"Might as well handle this now, then. Come on back," she says. She leads you through the clinic to an empty examination room.

"This will be private, at least, even if there's very little seating and it is a tight fit. The letter says I'm supposed to listen to you, but Orn doesn't really have any sway here anymore. I'm willing to let you speak out of respect for my father, but beyond that, it just depends on what you have to say," she tells them bluntly.

"Basically, we've been ordered on a mission to cause a ruling family change." Kala said. The woman was annoyed, and if the beat around the bush or anything like that, she'd probably become even more so. "We had no idea why your father ordered us to meet you, perhaps so you could assume the mantle of leadership and be a pawn to whatever his true goals are." She finished, as she shrugged a little. It was the truth, she doubted anyone here knew Orn's true intentions.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 2 Sinya's Clinic

It was a boorish dance, one where one set of blunt words met with a second, only to circle around and strike again. At this moment, the young lord could not help but ponder whether or not telling the blatant truth to Sinya would be a boon or a bane to their endeavors. According to Orn, she loathed violence - as any true doctor should - and now, were they to do anything but shame the Distombe, she may not take part in it. Careful, they needed to be... careful.

With an air of nonchalance and grace, the deviant noble spoke a number of words to Sinya in Ryl then presented their gift. [private to Sinya Ziveri: The words whispered would be simple, elegant and truthful. Similar to those spoken to Brill only with hidden meaning. His eyes would be interested yet disinterested in her. It would look as if he may have more to say to her, but.. will not yet interrupt. Due to a willingness to see her reaction to Kala.]

"Yes, that sounds like my father, to a certain extent, at least. He has always been ambitious, overly so at times," she replies to Kala.

She takes the gift from Joron and acknowledges his words. Sinya takes a moment to look around the room before she continues. "Even if I were interested in being a member of the head clan, the odds of the other powerful families allowing the Ziveri to stay in power with a woman in power are slim to none. At times in the past, it may have been possible, but this is not a favorable time for it.

"Further, I can not condone any course of action which involves the violent overthrow of the legal government. In days gone by, the whole idea of the head clan governing style was that they would stay in power for their natural lifespans. I don't believe it was meant to encourage assassinations, although it has done exactly that. The Distombes may not be the best rulers, but they're not the worst either.

"Finally, on top of everything else, I do not wish to be my father's pawn, nor do I have to be, in any way, in spite of his thoughts to the contrary.

"I assume you've talked to my brothers already, or am I first?"

"We talked to Brill, and he seemed in agreement with what you said about not wanting to be in one of the leadership roles of the head clan." Kala replied, as she nodded slightly. "I for one, would rather not have a violent overthrow either. Since you better know the customs on the planet, would there be something else that could occur that would force the ruling family out of it's position without assassination? Also, could you think of any other reason your father wished to have you in power? Does he perhaps know he might not be able to sway Brill and the others?"

Although he had been warned to by his companions to keep out of any future negotiations or to keep a cool head Narik clearly paid little heed or possess the strength of his convictions that meant he believed he was doing the right thing.

The soldier squeezed into the tight examination cubicle and as Kala finished speaking he cleared his throat ”I may not speak for my companions” he looked over to Aadun, Kala and Joron ”but I allow me the opportunity to speak” he paused briefly and leaned against the wall ”whether your father has plans or not as you rightly say he has no sway here. If we were to destabilise the ruling family it would be possible for you to take power for yourself” he sighed slightly, a certain reluctance to mention how they would destabilize the Distombe clan ”if you had that level of influence maybe some things could be changed for the better” Narik looked around the examination cubicle and the apparatus there ”your people could be better cared for, injustice challenged and those no longer relevant traditions that hold sway over the city's people could be challenged”.

Aadun crossed his arms and listened as Kala, Joron and Narik seemed to be handling this talk.  He actually didn't have anything to say about Narik's question since he really didn't care how they took care of the Distombe, as long as it was quick and easy.

"I can tell you care for your people quite a bit, working where you do.  With more influence think of how you can help others," he added on to what Narik was saying and smiled over at her.  When he was talking to Brill, he wanted to seem like as close to his equal as he could, but with Sinya his posture wasn't as assured and he looked over at her with admiration.

"I'm not going to make any spur of the moment decisions, here. There are many reasons that I would make a better ruler than any of the Distombe clan, and there are just as many that I would not. When I consider that my brothers would have to be in on it, and would likely be thwarting my good intentions at every turn..." she trails off, shaking her head.

"We're far too divided and that's not likely to change. Brill, in particular, would never work with me, and I know it. He holds me personally responsible for too many things and he's a male chauvinist to the core of his being. It's a nice thought, but nothing more than a pipe dream, I'm afraid."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 2 Sinya's Clinic

"Our intentions are not violence," Joron reassured, his hazel eyes holding Sinya's gaze. "We have agreed that shaming the present head clan is the most reasonable course of action. Bloodshed would only lead to more bloodshed, and ambitions aside, our labors would be for naught if that happened. Tell me, Doctor Ziveri, what is it that you dream? Do you often lay in bed wishing for change, but feeling yourself incapable of doing so? Do you often wish you could do more for the people that come to your clinic but find it impossible to fund such endeavors? Do you wish to ensure that others are treated fairly, equally, and receive care befitting members of every class?"

"This is that opportunity, that... modicum of hope that speaks from the depths of beyond few times in a person's life. You could take it, pursue those goals and dreams and fulfill what it is you wish to pursue." Pausing, the young lord's eyes wandered the small room as if to compare what was to what could be. "More than this clinic, more than what you've already strove to achieve. You can do more, better, greater things. Do not do it for your brothers, your father or the clan... do it for what you feel needs be done. You needn't worry over Brill or the others, for there are ways to quiet rivalries to ensure each of you form a cohesive unit, one that will benefit Kala'uun."

Like a predator that had seized opportunity, Joron leaned in for the kill and spoke honeyed Ryl whispers in Sinya's ear. [private to Sinya Ziveri: "Your half-brother is a businessman and a fiend. A chauvinistic fool that cares more for credits and self-gain than those around him. This we can use against him, this we can use to give you an advantage. We can draft a contract, a contract he will find most suitable to his heart but in reality maneuver him where we wish him. In it there will be terms, terms he and his brothers must agree to in order for your aid. Oh there will be ones they find most suitable, but in the end, negligible. In exchange for one sibling's cooperation, the others will be required not to interfere in any of your plans and must acquiesce to your desires. This will enable you to enact the winds of change and pursue your dreams without interference."

"Knowing that to cross you will lose their base of power means they cannot move against you, despite how unfavorable their disposition. And should you wish for more, not just safety from your brothers, but those that would move against you... I have it on good authority that the Regional Governor is a lascivious man. He will find a female on the ruling council an oddity and no doubt seek an audience with your grace. You need only smile and flatter him and then, once you've gained his confidence, no one would think of crossing a personal friend of a man that answers to only his highness, Emperor Palpatine. The other clans would dare not bring harm to you, giving your family the first opportunity in generations to rule throughout your natural lifespans. Think of the time you will have to see things through, the time you will have to do what you feel must be done..."

"Think about it, Doctor Ziveri... you need only say yes and we will see things in motion." And with those words, Joron left a lingering caress of his lips to her ear and walked away.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 2 Sinya's Clinic

Sinya seems almost to be lulled by whatever it is that Joron is whispering in her ear, right up until the last moment, as he pulls away from her, at which point her features harden into a frown. "You know, you're very persuasive, but you've still got a lot to learn, especially about me, it would seem," she tells Joron.

"I'm not going rule out the possibility entirely, but I'm not going to have anything to do with it. I'm not giving anyone permission to follow through with the debauched and crooked politics of this city," she says, shaking her head.

"As for my brothers... well, I don't think I have to be worried about this working, because I seriously doubt you ever get Brill to agree to this. And if Father thinks his influence will help, he's mistaken. Brill holds Orn in contempt for marrying my mother after putting theirs aside to do it."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 2 Sinya's Clinic

Adorned with naught but a simple smile, Joron Sarrus shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly at the Doctor's words. Oh he could not, would not, deny he had a lot of things to learn or experience in life. He was often reckless and dilettante. Were it not for his previous actions, he never would have suffered the misfortune of becoming one of the Crime Lord's wards. A ward that suffered through an odious man's schemes.

"We all have things to learn, and I've only just met you." The noble replied, the smile on his face never faltering. [private to Sinya Ziveri: A curious learner, his visage seems to speak greatly of his interest in knowledge, not only of the lady's likes, but what she might offer him intellectually.] "Right now I think the members of House Ziveri need to learn to put aside their differences, wouldn't you agree?" With eyes aimed at the lady and then her gift, he perked a curious brow Sinya's way. [private to GM: As if to encourage her to open the gift. (Quite frankly I want to see what we procured for her, hah!)] "You needn't worry over being involved in the politics. We'll handle those. You need only wait for the impassioned moment of our success."

"For now, I think it best that we press the what ifs and maybes aside and retire for the day. Your time is precious and you've people waiting on your care, we dare not impose on you any further. The only question I've left on my mind is... when your[private to Sinya Ziveri: If for nothing more then to gain the smallest upward turn/impish smile from the Doctor's lips, Joron mouthed the closest thing to "troll" in Ryl.] brother agrees to the terms, how would you prefer we contact you?" [private to Sinya Ziveri: Before she speaks, Joron is quick to add. "You will, of course, be welcome to aid in the creation or review of any and all terms before they are sent to him."]

Narik smiled as it seemed the team had at least made some progress with enlisting Sinya’s cooperation. Unfortunately it didn’t appear she would be willing or able to aid them in their endeavour however. With a nod of his head the soldier accepted Sinya dismissal as she made her way to tend her patients.

When he was alone again with his companions he expressed his relief ”that went better than expected but unfortunately we still are no further to removing the Distombe clan or gaining Brill’s cooperation. Maybe it is time we finalised a plan and made good our intentions. Perhaps action will sway Brill into seizing the opportunity we offer”.

Replying to the unspoken words with a knowing gaze, Sarrus accepted the card then swiftly hid it away on his person. There were some dances that people were made for and others that just floundered in motion. Like petals in the wind, they were prepared to rise or to fall. One step, one miscalculation and everything would be swept from beneficial to jeopardy.

"When," Lord Joron corrected the Doctor, his smile still genuine. "Enjoy your gift, Doctor Ziveri. It was a pleasure meeting you. I wish you and your patients well... good day."

Turning to leave, the dark haired man waltzed out of the clinic with the rest of his party. Once outside, he gave a friendly tap to their resident armored princess so she knew they were finished here.

"Some problems, Master Narik, we are forced to solve ourselves. The cooperation of siblings and our objective are prime examples. But... let us  discuss such things elsewhere..."

With a miniscule nod to the two guards, Krysten fell in with the rest of the group.  From what Narik and Joron were saying, there wasn't much chance that the female half of their objectives was coming into the idea with warm and fuzzy feelings all around.  She pondered their objectives once again, but when all was said and done, she was hired muscle.  Smart muscle, maybe, but muscle nonetheless.

Keeping an eye on the various sensors, she turned the problem around in her head, trying to think of some way that they might make the Imperial occupation work for them instead of against them.
