Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 4

"He's a rather important part of our mission, so we have to get him on our side," he commented and hoped that things went a bit better this time.  "If this idea with the Empire doesn't seem to catch his eye, then I think we should point out how much money he stands to make after we're done here.  We can make it sound like he has to work with his sister."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 4

"Oh yes, the 'Sister Problem'!  I should like to chat with this Brill to get his opinions on a little thought I just had.  Some may find it odeous, but it could work.", puts in Arng.  "Here's my thought, and mind you, it is derived a bit from Jedi Philosophy, as little as I know of it.  The Jedi say that we are defined by our actions and choices, not the crude matter of the flesh.  So my thoughts are if a woman acts like a male, and makes choices like a male, then she has the soul of a male.  Her flesh doesn't matter though it seems to these people.  So change the flesh.  Plastic surgury could easily make the flesh reflect the male soul within.  I'd be okay by it, although I am not ruled by ancient tradition that doesn't bend to modern medicine."

Narik laughed at Arng’s suggestion “your plan would have merit if the sister in question had the ambition to be a political leader. Alas she does not even want the position her father covets for her. I guess she would be as unwilling to undergo such surgery”

"Speaking of Sinya, there was something else that I had uncovered during my research," he began and paused for a moment as he gathered her thoughts.  "When I first tried to look into her she seemed so spotless and perfect.  And yet, since her father was ousted from his position you know she has had seven failed assassination attempts against her?  Seems very strange.  Also, the information was well hidden so somebody doesn't want it getting out."

"Seven attempts? That seems a bit high, especially for someone who's father got kicked out of power." Kala said, as she pondered what that could mean. "How about Brill? Also, did you see what kind of circumstances they were, and if anyone was around after each attempt, like a familiar face seen with her or near her?"

"She doesn't want power?  That would make her the best person to have power, in my opinion.  Still, doesn't bode well for her having the soul of a male.", replies Arng.  "As to the assassination attempts, that would only be natural.  Someone else sees her as the best successor.  Her spotless reputation would make her unimpeachable.  Not wanting power would mean that she is unlikely to abuse power.  Clearly she is a good person.  There are always going to be people who don't want to see a good person to come to power.  Gads!  Someone might clean up the corruption!  We couldn't have that now, could we?  Nope, better to see her not survive to assume power than to try to remove her from power later on.  It's easier to kill those who don't have political power than those who do.  These are pre-emptive strikes by someone who wants power.  So who else might succeed if Sinya was out of the way?"

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 4

"It's not that." Kala said, as she sighed slightly. "She's a doctor, and she managed to survive seven assassination attempts. Which means, either the assassins were bad at their job, or she could have some kind of insider information about when and where the attempt will be made or..." Kala's voice trailed off. Could that be the reason? "Mabye she's just that lucky?"

Might she have missed something in their earlier encounter? Perhaps. Things seemed to be falling slightly into place, like a well played hand of Sabbaac. She'd need to find out for certian, because this would severly complicate matters.

"Her boyfriend Valsil Olan was with her three of those times and I know next to nothing about him.  He could have helped her survive," Aadun added in to Kala's thought.  "Brill has only had one assassination attempt against him."  The numbers did seem off, especially since Brill was the more likely successor.  He hoped that Brill wasn't the one wanting his sister's head, which would make their talks with him infinitely harder.  "I don't want to say this, but we have to take into consideration that Brill may be trying to kill his sister.  He did seem to hate her considerably the first time we saw him."

"Your forgetting another option or two there Kala, She could be a vicious lady who killed the hell out of her previous seven assassions, or she hired them herself as stagged attempts to give people the impression of any of those trains of thought incase they began to dig on her. It just depends how paranoid you want to take that line of logic." He said now laided out on the couch relaxing with his feet up, looking to employee the never miss a chance to sleep when you can rule of combative actions.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 4

"I wonder though, who gets control over the wealth she has if she met and untimely end?" Kala asked, as she pondered that. "If Brill were to get it, it would certianally be possible for him to be the one who's arranging those attempts."

She nodded at what Rorik had said. "Well, that would depend on how the assassinations were carried out. If it was just one person, it would be infinitely easier for her to remove the threat and survive. How about two, three, or even a bomb placed in a speeder. We need to know more about this, circumstances of the attempts would help to fill in the blanks. But no, I haven't ruled anyone or anything out in this scenario, just part of my insight I have to keep to myself for the moment."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - Day 4

"You know Females on Ryloth must designate a male relative as their heir, generally husband or a blood relative, like sons, father or Brother. Considering her boyfriend status, no husband and likely no children, and a slayen father that narrows down the list rather nicely." He added remembering a little snipit about Ryloth Culture and with the talk that Brill the brother could be trying to kill his sister to claim his inheritance it seemed like something one should point out.

"It is a possiblity. That is for certian." Kala replied, as she nodded over to Rorik. "There are others... But I'd like to be on my way before I delve into those. I might need your help, Rorik. There is something I need researched, I'd bet between you and Aadun, you could find the information I need, and that would make our getting rid of the empire somewhat better."

"I need to find out how many Republic delegations came to dock at this city about ten years ago. The empire is particularly interested in tracking down some ship that arrived here during the clone wars." Kala said, as she nodded over to Rorik. "So, I know what they're searching for, and I think you'll figure it out too."

"Yeah... luck...", responds Arng to Kala's meantion of how lucky Sinya has been.  His response sounds distant like his mind is elsewhere.  And while his mind has been elsewhere during this conversation, he doesn't meantion this time where his mind has wandered off to.  Sometimes pondering is just pondering not worth meantioning.

At the mention of the clone wars Narik started “a delegation that left something here?” he suggested “who was on board?” the soldier who had fought for the Republic Navy during the clone wars switched on his datapad and plugged into the holonet to search for information regarding the history of the clone wars.

Krysten followed the conversation, though she kept quiet.  She had little to add to the conversation, though she was thinking hard.  Her expertise was in combat, and the Machiavellian schemes of the Twi'lek political structure hurt her head when she tried to wrap her mind around it.  She shrugged mentally as the conversation turned towards actually doing something.

"Before we get too much further into this planning, I'd like to bring something up, if I may."

"Republic negotiating teams or delegations during the clone wars either consisted of diplomats..." Kala began, as she sighed a little. "Or Jedi. So, knowing that, which do you think the Empire would rather be interested in?"

She turned around when Krysten spoke up. "Sure. Anyone can add anything to this discussion." She finished, with a smile.

Krysten removed her helmet, making sure that she could make eye contact with the people she was speaking too.

"I'd like to bring up that our VIP's on this mission have been showing a disturbing lack of thought in regards to the fact that they have been moving about with no bodyguards.  We have been made painfully aware that we are targets of someone's ire here on Ryloth, and the fact that not only our mission commander but one of our few pilots have been putting themselves at grave risk by going out alone is, quite frankly, unacceptable.  I was hired as a bodyguard who can do more than tote a gun on this mission, and I would be remiss in my duties if I let this trend continue.

"I would like to request that our VIP's, specifically Kala, Aadun and Varis have one of the bodyguards assigned to this mission with them at all times.  Granted, they can take care of themselves in general situations, but I dislike the idea of anyone being by themselves when our enemies have made their intentions so clear."

Her voice was even and soft, but firm.  It was obvious she had been thinking about this for some time.

"I can agree to that, but there might be a time that I might need a bodyguard to say, stay outside a room while I conduct some... negotiation." Kala replied, as she nodded to Krysten. "Would that be an acceptable compromise?"

"I've said my part.  The rest of my thoughts are mere guesswork.  I'd rather get more information before we make more plans.", puts in Arng with a tone of finality.  "Now we better stop discussing this here and get a move on.  When you have enemies coming after you, it is best to keep moving."

Aadun kind of sighed.  "Am I really a VIP?" he asked and winced.  "I'm not really complaining, but I hate to have to be followed everywhere I go from now on.  I will though, for the sake of the credits."

Krysten nodded at Kala's qualification.

"Standing outside a room while you conduct negotiations is one thing.  Standing here in the house when you need backup in a hurry is another.  We can rotate the bodyguard schedule, but we also need to make sure our movements are randomized to prevent our opponents from being able to reliably lay in an ambush for us."

She turned and looked at Aadun.

"As much as you don't like it, yes.  You're our computer expert, and you're the one we're going to turn to if we have to hack in to a mainframe or crack an electronic lock quietly.  If you're in a known 'safe' area, you won't have to be followed around, but out and about, if you're jumped by more than one or two, having an extra blaster is going to be more than helpful, it'll be vital."

Aadun simply nodded his head when Krysten explained her thoughts and then found a place to sit.  He wasn't going to argue with her, though he was obviously bothered by this.  He  had done worst for credits, so sucking it up was probably for the best anyway.

"We should probably get going soon."
