We'll be using Burning Wheel as the mechanical underpinnings of story and conflict resolution, which most people have only ever heard about, if that.  So I've put together these questions as a quick-start character generation system.  From your answers we'll set the game-mechanics numbers and Traits that your character will use.

What is your character concept?

Where is your character from?

What race is s/he?

How old is your character?

Is s/he athletic or active?  Frail or sickly?

What does your character look like?

What social class is s/he from?

Has the character ever been a soldier, bandit, gangster, knight, pirate, conscript, assassin or some other station in life that is surrounded by much violence and death?

Does s/he live in squalor and filth?

Has s/he lived a sheltered life, free from violence and pain?

Who does s/he associate with?

Is s/he known for anything?

Has s/he ever been severely wounded, tortured and/or enslaved?

Has the character ever murdered or killed directly and knowingly?
And, if so, more than once?

What education has the character had?  Formal and/or otherwise.

What sorts of resources, both in terms of material goods and in social or community ties, can s/he draw upon?

Has the character ever given birth to a child?

What sets your character apart from similar people in the world?  A seemingly iron stomach?  Tremendous willpower?  Family fortune?  Strange construction? Skinny like a whip?  A missing finger?  A moving dragonmark? Nothing in particular?

Who are the important people in the character's life?

What skills, trainings, abilities, knowledges, strange items, and/or powers does the character have?

What did s/he do during the war?

What was the war's effect on your character's life?
