Re: OOC: General Chat

We could go down that route, impersonating a much higher ranking law official in order to obtain information. If we did go down that route, we'd need some pretty incredible disguises though, because even the dimmest cop is going to figure something fishy is going on when the Homeland Security officers bear a remarkable resemblance to the Tyson employees who just rolled into town.

Good point. We definitely need to look at the physical location of the attacks. I was thinking from the perspective of getting an overview of the situation, but maybe visiting the sites of the attacks would be a better starting point, with later gathered information helping us join the dots.

"That's our cover, you dimwitted dolt. Look at the official-looking Id card we have!"

Gotta love the Universal ID. :)

Re: OOC: General Chat

We're going to pretend to be Homeland Security agents disguised as Tyson security employees? That is pretty genius. Wonder how high the bluff roll for that deception would have to be.

It is Montana. You know what's in Montana besides animals, beautiful scenery and large weapons caches? Conspiracy nuts.

Just sayin... :)

I've suddenly discovered that I'm in a wedding. Said wedding takes place tomorrow. Obviously, I'm a bit preoccupied.

How'd the wedding go, Toby?

Also, does anyone (including Ril) know when Ril's character will be ready to start posting in the game?

Just trying to gather an idea of how long it'll be before the game gets properly going.

Fine. Technically, they'd been married for a couple months as far as the government's concerned, but it's not official til it happens in a church.

Strange wedding.

Well, some people like to be traditional. Others like to stick their fingers in their ears and shout 'la la la' as in "La la la, we're not listening to you, official government records. La la la we're not married yet."

Er, I agree with them. As far as I'm concerned civil marriages are for those too poor-off to get one in a church, or are simply a different tax bracket.

That's not why it was strange.

Re: OOC: General Chat

Frank, are those search rolls to search the room for anything interesting? In general, I'll be pretty liberal with taking 10 or 20, so as long as there's no penalty for failure, feel free to just claim a 10 or 20.

Also, regarding rolls. In general if I need a roll from you I will roll it for you, to save time. This is things like spot checks or saves, not optional checks like research or search checks. I hate doing it that way offline, but I find for online games it saves a metric butt-ton of time.

Re: OOC: General Chat

The search was to find a suitable hiding place for the ammo boxes and disguise kit. I rolled rather than taking a 10 or 20 because those take more time, and I didn't really want to have Frank spending half an hour looking for a suitable place to hide his stuff.

I just meant for you to roll if you wanted an extra skill check to actually hide the stuff (I'd guess a Hide or maybe a Sleight of Hand check), but good to know the way you're running things. I've found that having the GM make some of the rolls certain keeps things moving.

Re: OOC: General Chat

Got it! I'm not really sure what skill covers hiding something, but we'll just call it an opposed search check. In other words, you won't know whether or not you have succeeded until you go back to your room and your stuff is gone :)

Also for the future, taking 10 doesn't take any more time than rolling. Taking 20 represents attempting 20 times, so it takes 20 times longer, but taking 10 represents having few enough distractions to be able to make an "average" attempt, so it takes just as long as it normally would.
