In reply to Legbreaker (msg #2):

Yes, well, it had to happen. One can suppress the inner D&D only so long...

Re: OOC

What day do you get back?
And are you going to need a new place to live?
Sometime in the next few weeks I'll be dealing with a bucketload of residential properties too (we're merging/allying with Rescom).

Re: OOC

We'll get back to Melbourne on the 9th Feb. Haven't as yet got a house organised, which is bad. Certainly it'd help if you could show us some options in the way of  4 bedroom places.
Maki is set on having a fireplace and some sort of verandah. Also a chicken named fungus.
You have fun over new year's?

Re: OOC

I'll keep an eye out for something suitable although you're leaving it a bit late to find something decent near the uni.

Re: Ghost

It's happening, I've got the sore muscles from helping out on Sat to prove it!
Nice place if it wasn't for the damn hill it's halfway up! Access with the heavier items is a bitch.

Pretty much according to plan. Just finishing of, before handing over keys on friday. Nice long period to move helps. What price range are you looking at with your 4br place? I will see if I can find one near us...Maki will enjoy being closer to hospital!

Re: Moving

Fellas - I feel stupid not knowing this - what is a heat pump in a house and how does it work?

Re: Moving

Also, how much does one cost in relation to say a fireplace or electric heater?

Re: Moving

A heat pump is basically a reverse cycle air conditioner. No work, but more expensive to run. Gas is cheaper, and wood cheapest, but wood is more work...

Re: Moving

Unless you want to pay up around $80 per cubic metre and have it presplit and delivered to your back door...
Personally though I can't see anything wrong in taking an hour or two and heading to the local sawmill with the trailer. Sure a fire creates soot and ash, but that's a small price to pay for very cheap heating.

On the other hand, heat pumps can often be used for cooling too, but is Tassie really hot enough to justify that?
