Re: Out of Character Discussion

*Sighs*

Looks like Ruse is going to need to babysit Max a while.

I'll be the Jafar to his sultan, minus the pure evil of course.

Ruse is more neutral-aligned actually, and is even currently attempting to take action to help protect the tree and prevent Osiris-Ra from reviving. Of course the only person who'd even possibly know that (charles) is now dead, and the best organization for Ruse to go to for help happens to be the employer that's secretly out to kill him, for reasons that aren't even really clear to him. LOL.

Is Desafon an evil pirate, or is he more meant to emphasize chaotic alignment rather than evil? (Chaotic good = robin hood, chaotic neutral = Jack Sparrow, Chaotic evil = Captain Hook)

he's Chaotic Awesome. If something is awesome, he'll do it, regardless of morality.

Also, I don't need babysitting!

Also also, I think Kohai is an awesome name for a dog.

If you keep asking strangers to duel, as well as offering head-on military tactics, you'll need Ruse to survive. :)

What made you think of that name for a dog?

Wow, I love that, Max. Its pretty much right, I'm what in D&D would be considered 'Chaotic Neutral' aka 'The Madman's Alignment'. I'm all about Chance, though I'm also a lot about honor and loyalty, though that doesn't mean I can't have a little fun along the way. Am I Good? Perhaps, in a sense. I might be Chaotic, but there is 'some' order to me. Do I have to go by an alignment guideline on here? Otherwise, I'm all-for meeting up with other Gods and helping them (as long as they aren't like Mencius).

Re: Out of Character Discussion

Chaotic neutral doesn't have to be true insanity. It just means freedom-loving, "loose" people who are selfish but not truly evil. They are chaotic but are motiated by interpersonal relationships (like alliances, family, friends, etc) and affiliations (the conclave, the pirate group, the posse, the clique...the whatever) to take positive actions, not an overarching sense of goodness and justice like someone like Max would be.

That's how I always viewed the neutral alignments across the full law-chaos spectrum (lawful neutral, true neutral, chaotic neutral). You can tweak the law-chaos descriptor, but the good-evil neutrality always remains.

GUYS!

Okay, I'm scottish, and in scottish legends there's this thing about The Boy, The Warrior, and The Sage.

Guess who we are?

Well, the whole Kohai-Senpai relationship thingy in japan.. it'd just be a cool name for your dog, because it's loyal, and it looks up to you, and stuff.

Max, are you trying to draft Desafon into our little clique of weirdness? :P

And yes Ruse would be the most sage-like out of the three of us, lol. Not old and wrinkjly though - he (and the Mistella) are some of the most gorgeous beings in the realm supernatural.

I see your point about the dog now.

Re: Out of Character Discussion

Ruse is just trying to keep Max out of trouble, and survive conclave conspiracies while also trying desperately to make sure Osiris-Ra stays dead. He is very pro-tree, although if I'm playing him right that won't always be apparent.

Max seems just to love the interaction he has with different mortals and gods. I can tell that he is enjoying the different relationships he's got going on.

Ah. While I'm enjoying getting things done and all, I'm always looking forward to increasing my powers, though I'm also trying to do it without killing individuals. Dueling isn't always to the death, though other ways of gaining power might be hard.

Re: Out of Character Discussion

While aramanth is one way to steal powers, it has its own dangers - especially if the victim is a part of the conclave, or is not but has their case petitioned to it anyways. (It's grade M for conclace, a lesser charge for non-members just to give you an idea). It is a quick and dirty way to power.

However, what I like about this game is that there are other viable ways to progress if you want to be good, or at least don't want to aramanth. Degrees seem to come a lot more smoothly than in rebirth, where the innate sphere growth was just horribly abysmal to the point that it encourages aramanth over all other options, including goodness. If you want more powers, simply earn a new degree and raise your divinity rating.

Another way for you to get some neat powers, as well as some other cool utility, is to make friends with other gods. Really, really close friends. If you'd have sex with your "friend" or otherwise swap blood like in a pact, then you may want to consider assimilated cults. That will allow you to share minor and major powers with your friend, while also gaining a new one of your own from their list.

Hmm. And to think being a sneaky god that killed Ragnar while he was unconscious in a stone rubble was a good way *coughsyesitwasmecoughs* Wait, I didn't confess that. Nope, that wasn't me. And I didn't steal Dragon's bow. Nope, not me.

It's your choice personally whether to aramanth or not. However, I just wanted to let you know that in dust there are other options if aramanth doesn't fit your concept.

I know. On Rebirth, I didn't mind it one bit. But on here? Its not my char's style unless it was the chosen prize in the duel.

Re: Out of Character Discussion

Personally I like the more developed progression rules here on Dust than on rebirth. It allows good or neutral aligned concepts to flourish a lot more easily, and doesn't create a disincentive to not be evil anymore. Concepts should be based on player desires, not system mechanics, in my opinion.

So if you want to really get a nice collection of minor powers to tote around with you, then start shagging other gods left and right.

In this game, good and evil don't win. It's the sluts who will win in the end. :P

EVERYONE: I am locking down the OOC until Master Divine logs back on and makes a new thread. We are almost at 1000 posts here.

Desafon: I actually have been doing most of my updates sneaking from comps at work. Lol.

It's because MD is on a totally different time zone than most of the rest of us are.

I always check at least once in the morning before I leave, and once before I go to bed, but he is generally asleep during my evenings, I estimate.

Don't respond until Nat expands the ooc again. :)

This was probably my biggest design idea when it came to rewriting the rules for Theo. I built he whole system around the idea that evil gods, while easily able to get power, should be harried and fought viciously for it.. and good gods, while maybe progressing a little slower, are more steady and secure. Risk invites brilliance, but also - as always - danger.

Anyway. Making a new OOC. Don't post here, etc.
