Re: Out of Character Discussion
As I already told you, I'm not quite happy with the Aramanth system, mainly because I'm selfish and it will not do anything for me in it's current incarnation. :P
The idea appears to be that a weaker god gains more by Aramanthing a stronger god than the other way around. Therefore, I suggest simply adding up the combined degrees of all five fields (plus any Psionics) to gain the relative power level of a god. Then, on Aramanthing, it gains degrees equal to the victim's power level divided by its own (naturally changed into a percentage dividable by five). Any transferring of powers or other such abilities could be considered independent from this on an individual basis.
As an example, assume we have two gods. God A is a "Grey/Neocadem/Fragile/Dabbler/Lesser", and thus has a "power level" of five, the bare minimum. God B is a "Grey/Purjopiarre/Adequate/Dabbler/Lesser" with a "power level" of eight.
Now, if God A were to succeed in Aramanthing God B, he would instantly acquire eight-fifth of a degree (160%) for this great accomplishment. However, if God B Aramanthed God A, he would only gain five-eighth of a degree (rounded down to 60%) as God A was much weaker than him.
This means that everybody can gain something by Aramanthing anyone else, but that it is only truly worthwhile on equal or stronger gods. The effect becomes more pronoounced when there are greater differences involved. For example, if there was a God C, a "Brown/Master/Stark/Conjurist/Lesser" (thus with a power level of 14), God A would gain 280% of a degree for Aramanthing it, but God C would only get 35% the other way around.
