Re: OOC VI: Perfection

Anhydrous Master Sura Al'Amun the Second, Returned God of the Desert:
Hallowed Leord Anik the First, Returned God of Craft:
OK

So MD has expressed that there were concerns about my Ladybots.

Fitst of all you should know that I DO RL RESEARCH ON ALL MY MEASUREMENTS AND TECHNOLOGY. I try to keep it as real as possible truth me. I spent HOURS doing that to make sure I got it right.

Part 1: Lesson in size and Volume
Go look up 1 nanometer(nm)... its a fucking small measurement, it takes 1000 nanometers to make a micrometer. 1 Nanobot fits in a 100x100x100 nm space... also known as 100 cubic nm. This is about as small as nanobots go. The nanobots heads destroy 1 cubic nm of energy in less than a second, but it can use that raw E=MC energy (with a shitload wasted in control trust me) to transmute up to 100 cubic nm into a certain form and mundane material.

Now it was said that they replicate at 6*2^x where x is the next generation. Now lets say that I can only produce 1,000,000,000,000 per minute.

Now some people go OMFG 1 trillion thats huge... well actually no.
1,000,000,000,000 x 100 cubic nm is 1,000,000,000,000,000 cubic nm. Now your first instinct is 1 quadrillion cubic cm can just be divided by 1,000,000,000 to get how many cubic meters... this is WRONG. You forget that this is CUBIC which means VOLUME. Even with 1 trillion that is only 0.001 cubic millimeters... you guys know how much a mm is right... you can see a cubic mm, that means I will have to make 1 trillion 1000 times... just to make 1 cubic mm of nanobots. Which would take me 16 hours game time.

Case in point NANOBOTS ARE SMALL, and basically remember volume wise 100 cubic cm does not make 1 cubic meter... 1,000,000 cubic cm (100x100x100) to make 1 cubic meter.

seriously Google it:
copy and paste this into Google
1000000000000000 cubic nanometers in cubic meters
1000000000000000 cubic nanometers in cubic millimeters

Part 2: Nanobots in Theo
Nanotechnology is already rampant in theogenesis. Nanobots are used in diamond rifled to make the ammo! Nat had the valley anti-nanobot warded earlier to prevent I assume anti-nanobot infestation. But of course there ALWAYS is a balance in this game (Nat wouldn't overpower things would he). I'm sure there are tons of technological means to get rid of nanobots as well as magical and other supernatural to counteract nanobots. They are NOT the unstoppable doomsday force in our fiction movies.
Things that would actually affect Nanobots- regular Explosives, EMPs, bullets (they kill more as they fly through the cloud than they would from eating the bullet).

Part 3: Anik's Nanobots
1- Replication is limited to 10 cubic cm per minute within a couple feet of Anik...
2- The nanobots are not true nanobots... they are in fact more like tiny myth crafted beings with nano-components.
3- EVERYTHING IS DONE THROUGH THE GM, Jesus I'm not Metatron trying to bully him into allowing some super-powered... these are my CRAFTING HELPERS.

The superweapon comes later :P

Im not reading that.

(Rephrased for my religious sake) I second the motion.

I think he's defending his latest invention as not ridiculously overpowered or out of place in Theogenesis, as there have apparently been some complaints relayed to MD regarding their use.

I did that before I posted. I don't see how it's trite though. Also, now I have a boyfriend too! Is my first ^_^

Re: OOC VI: Perfection

Well, just to chuck in another angle on all this (I love stirring the pot ;) )

I can, to a point, understand where that Principal might have been coming from: Here in Aus, we have an article of clothing known as a "Cronulla Cape". Cronulla is a popular beach and suburb in Sydney, and was the scene of some vicious anti-muslim race riots in 2005. One of the key symbols employed by the anti-muslim ("white australian") parties was the wearing of the Australian flag as a cape, in a deliberate effort to alienate. While both "sides" of these riots (muslim and anti muslim) were at fault, the wearing of the Australian flag by anyone but an athelete after winning an event has begun to seem quite distastful.

There have been music festivals in Australia which have attempted (unsuccessfully) to ban the wearing of the flag, and the Eureka cross (a Uniquely Australian symbol of rebellion against repression - compare to the Confederate flag but without the connotations of slavery support) has been banned from appearing on building sites as the meaning has changed over time to one of intoleracne against anything not "Australian"; a notoriously undefineable term.

With that information from 'down-under' as a comparison, you might be able to argue that the principal thought that the Stars and Stripes might have been creating that kind of image, rather than one of freedom and liberty, as originally intended. Although I agree that the kids shouldn't have been expelled.

As for immigration issues, we have them aplenty, with just as much risk associated with the illegal immigrants as those entering the USA, as a result of the boat crossing from Indonesia and PNG, often in boats that are barely seaworthy. Most illegal immigrants to Aus claim refugee status, and while this is generally true, they are still treated like criminals and locked up, usually on offshore islands. The issue costs Australia millions of dollars, and while the refugees rarely reach society quickly, the detention centres are filling with every new boat that attempts to enter our waters. These are people who are costing our country money when they could just as easily be instated as visa granted workers, who pay tax.
The issue in my mind is that the immigration systems of our respective countries works slowly, and some people need to 'cheat' this in order to secure their lives.

One last thing: Ruse, you are using Ellis Island as a metaphor for appropriate application for a visa right? Coz Ellis shut down in 1954.

Re: OOC VI: Perfection

Lol yes Ellis Island is a metaphore for gaining citizenship via the proper legal channels.

And I didn't realize Austrailia had such draconian policies for immigrants. I think that a reform of the immigration laws is called for, although I do think in the meantime we need to deport people because evn if their lives are in danger back home, by doing things the way they are currently it is lowering the quality of life here in America, which is selfish in my opinion.

Re: OOC VI: Perfection

No, read it correctly! The last phrase was referring to the on prior! He was stating that the way illegal immigrants act is selfish, a separate statement from his argument that they should be deported, which is because they lower the quality of life in America. He's saying both should shape up, not being ironic.

Apparently my lack of perfect scientific knowledge compared to him resulted in his loseing all interest in theogenesis' I am associated with... including Infinity (which doesn't even have technology) and Ruse's game (which I think was because I am still a GM there, even though I only GM ruse and help go over game rules for balance issues).

Wrong Anik - brilliant demonstration of the root of the problem.  You assume far too much.  At least have the decency to keep this to PM - remember I did.

For the rest of you I apologise that my temper (which is significantly shorter than it should be right now) is causing this.  I hope whatever the outcome it doesn't interfere with you enjoying Theo.

I'm sorry I even mentioned it! I just noticed it in two games at the very least, but wasn't aware there was a deeper root problem.

Max, shut up. Eightfold path, man, eightfold path.

Alliel, no hard feelings either way. I misunderstood the information Ruse was conveying me. This is because I am a paranoid, bitter conceited Australian. ;)

Both of you - Anik and Alliel - we're going to keep quiet about nanobots in general and current feuds in particular on the OOC, okay? Keep this stuff to PM. I'm all for slagging off Metatron, but there's something more genuine here, in my opinion.

Re: OOC VI: Perfection

MD asked me to post about this in the OOC, so here goes:

Chalybis (ie. me) is leaving as well.

As for the reason? Well, if you just take a look at the last two OOC threads and the direction in which the current one is already heading. All of the things in there are making it clear to me that a large amount of you are simply not pleasant individuals to interact with. Of course, there are some of you for who this does not hold, but unfortunately these appear to be a minority here and do not compensate for the 'others', so I've quite simply stopped enjoying my presence in this game altogether and have chosen to end it.

Thank you for your attention, and goodbye farewell.
