Re: (Max) The Lesser Temple of Xi
Somewhere in Xi, a point of reddish light appeared, crackling with the arcane energy of teleportation. A rush of air could be felt around it as a thin swirling mass came from the point, winding around it as a misty orb. The orb grew and grew, until it became large enough to contain a small building. The moment it stopped growing, the surface of the spherical cloud hardened and smoothed in an instant, forming an opaque red shell that took a small bite out of the ground. And in a final flash of light, it was gone, taking its contents away and replacing them with a cloud of black smoke.
As the smoke diffused into the air around it, a titanic shape became visible within it, and the screeching sound of churning metal pierced the skies. Where the orb had cut into the surface a moment ago, it had replaced the natural surface by a pool of rusting steel, on which six massive mechanical legs – each one as thick as a tree but made from an array of powerful pistons – rested. These legs, somewhat similar to the armoured legs of insects but harder, edgier, and infinitely larger, supported a nigh-featureless metal torso, shaped like an immense olive and made entirely out of steel. Within a single circular maw at the end of the torso, countless rows of steel teeth swirled around on circular jaws, nothing more but a faint blur due to their dizzying speed. Behind them, a swirling disc of red mist could be seen, identical in structure to the orb that had brought this.
The Harvester had arrived, and it was hungry.
