OOC:  I was sure I'd replied on Saturday - perhaps RPoL ate my post?  :s

Elodeir grimaced as the zombie now moved towards him, and he stepped back up the stairs, before releasing two missiles of force against it, and they streaked directly towards their target, striking it with ease.

It rises its arms up to grab at the elven sorcerer.

Did either you or Drake roll for that potion?  I can't seem to find the roll, and that's what I'm waiting for before posting since how much he is healed will directly affect whether or not I heal him for more and also for how much.

OOC:

Dicebot hates us all again...crappy rolls all around!

=====================

Durken shouts in frustration as his blade connects slightly with the zombie and does no real harm.

What the hells is going on!?

Ardo is almost silent as he whispers out the word of power which enables his wand to shoot forth bolts of light.  Three of them plow into the monster's back, leaving small smoking holes where they hit.

The zombie crashes up the first few stairs and reaches out to grab Elodeir.  His thick fingers manage to snag the elf's clothing, but that is not enough to do harm, and Elodeir manages to tear away out of its grip at the last instant.

The zombie mouths words, but no sound comes from its thick, bloated mouth.

Durken's brother makes it up the stairs and out into the shop, screaming for help.  The burly guard shakes his head and decides to move off to the other side of the cellar and disengage from the battle.

Durken calls him, his mother, and his mother's mother dogs, but the man does not care, his face pale with fear.

OOC:

Tight quarters, but you can all manage to attack or act again.

Re: Dragon Coast Adventure - "A Killer's Funeral"

If Elodeir wasn't is such trouble and being split from the group, Drake would have continued with Durken, but the fighter can't leave a friend in need.  Back in his rhythm, Drake follows the Zombie, hoping this strikes will distract the mindless body.

In the tight quarters, Drake changes his attacks from slashing to jabbing and he slides his sword's blade back into the monster's back, probably puncturing a lung, which means little to the undead.

Re: Dragon Coast Adventure - "A Killer's Funeral"

Seeing the creature start to move away Bethany tries to slash out once again and feels the sword cutting into the rotting flesh.  Not knowing if any of her other attacks have done any worthwhile damage she keeps slashing and attempts to keep her self in front of the weeker members of the party.

=======================================

FROM DM:

Bethany knows that her blade did no harm this time, as it failed to strike with enough force to cut into the dead flesh of the creature.  But she is confident that should a more forceful blow be struck, she and others could cut the thing down.

Re: Dragon Coast Adventure - "A Killer's Funeral"

Out of the shadows steps a stout blonde man with thinning hair who wears a leather apron and blood-soaked gloves.  He has a green vest on under the apron. It is the spitting image of Marl Shark silently stalking up behind his brother Durken. At close range the figure pulls a dagger and throws it at Durken's back!

18:35, Today: Amylarn rolled 4 using 1d4. Trown dagger damage.
18:34, Today: Amylarn rolled 14 using 1d20+4. Trown dagger attack.

========================================

OOC:

Woah!  Didn't see this coming!!

You'll just hit, and it counts as a Sneak Attack, so I will add the damage bonus - you get that as a class feature, right?

===========================================

Durken spins to see where this latest attack comes from and his jaw drops when he sees Marl standing there.

What the HELL do you think...?

He squints, taking a few seconds to look over his stout brother's face, grpping his sword hard.

Deciding that the others all stood a better chance than him in melee with a creature such as the one that had been created there, Elodeir retreated up the stairs, sending a pair of missiles of force into it as he moved.

--------------------------------

Elodeir's magical bolts hit the zombie and make black holes in its chest, fould smoke emitting from them.

The thing is slow, and those dodging its pondersous steps and sweeping attacks are usually able to get out of the way.  But its strength is incredible, like a force of nature.  If it were ever to connect...

As Drake's sword digs deep, connects with bone, and tears out a decent-sized chunk of its chest, the zombie stops its forward advance and looks down with rolling white eyes at Drake, its massive arms raised high over its head, ready to bring them down like a pair of huge hammers...

NPCed by DM Mike just to get the healing of Drake issue out of the way.

=========================

Shaeria closes her eyes and envisions the forested hills and white sandy beaches of her home Evermeet, the land blessed most by the elven gods.  A feeling of peace and tranquilty overtakes her for several seconds and divine magic weaves through her being.

The sounds of battle and the sense that her comrades need her enter into that flow of magic and her hands shoot out to rest on Drake's shoulder.  The magical healing energies enter Drake and he feels a bit more hale and hole again.

Shaeria is brought back to this stinking basement, a place of death and gore in the lands of Man, and she knows she has helped stop an act of evil this day.

Drake:  You get back 16 hit points. Had to use DM's discretion to re-roll my first time..."3" on the dice.  Yuck!

Re: Dragon Coast Adventure - "A Killer's Funeral"

Unsure what do to, Durken stands looking at his brother, looking for some hint as to why he attacked.

Ardo uses his wand again, three yellow bolts hitting the monster, cutting through one hand and part of its wrist.

Drake raises his arms in defense, sensing the zombie's powerful attack, and if not for his own strength, he knows the zombie's attack would have just un-done much of the healing he has just received.

Gritting his teeth, Drake fends of the undead thing's arms and is ready to attack again.

=======================

OOC:

That was a close one, the zombie missing by 2.

The party is up again!

Drake is able to block the zombie's strike with his shield, but the blow makes his counterstrike weaker than normal, but no less accurate.  Drake slices low, at the zombie's knee and hits, but the damage is light.

===================================

FROM DM:

Drake feels his blade connect with the hard dead flesh of the zombie, even if the huge zombie seems not to notice.

Little by little the undead things is being whittled down, even though it shows no sign of slowing down or falling.

Damning her self for missing the last chance she had she lets out an exhausperated sigh as she knows she is useless with this attack as well.  Slashing while trying to keep the creature on her is difficult to say the least.

Durken's hesitation will cost him another wound. The image of Marl Shark reaches into his coat and reveals another dagger which immediately flies from his hand into Durken's gut! Amylarn know she best end this quick before Durken gets a chance to close the distance between them.

Marl...What the hells is wrong with you?!

I promised Pa and Ma I'd take good care of you, but this...this...I can't let this stand!

Shaeria has not posted an action, so I will do so for her, than get to the zombie and NPCs' actions, then the PCs can act again.

============================

Calling forth her bravery and an image of her beloved island home of Evermeet, Shaeria rushes toward the towering zombie, her holy symbol held out in both hands.

A desperate ploy, but one that pays off!

As the symbol hits the grey flesh of the zombie, it burns, sparks of divine energies -both holy and unholy - burst forth.  The creature's face contorts in pain, its eyes closed tight, its mouth open wide.

A low hoarse scream fills the room, getting louder as black smoke rises from the burning wound.

As its scream gets louder, as the pain from Shaeria's holy symbol held firm against its flesh burns hotter, the zombie lashes out and comes within a hair's width of striking the elven cleric.  She manages to duck the inch needed, still holding the symbol of her faith to its dead flesh.

Gripping his wand in both hands, Ardo squeezes out three more bolts of magical light.

A second later the wand seems to shrink a bit and he tosses it aside.

Spent!

The yellow bolts of arcane light hit the zombie in its back, and it is distracted enough for Durken to get in a telling blow.

Fall, damn you! You were never meant to be this way!!

The big Shark brother digs his sword's blade deep into the chest of the zombie.  Its tip comes out of the thing's back, bringing bits of bone and muscle with it.

The creature buckles back, the three fierce attacks from Shaeria, Ardo, and Durken almost enough to bring it down to its kness...

...almost...

Now it is up to the rest of you to stop this unholy creation once and for all!

At least the zombie and Durken Shark have not turned their attentions back on them.

Ardo yanks a scroll from an inner pocket of his robe, cursing having memorized only spells of a necromantic sort this day.
