The Fangs of Golarin, Talisandre, 620 NA

The light of the full silver moon lights the chill Plains of Golarin, as one by one, the gallant heroes lift and speed away from the deck of The Horn, heading east towards the great Fangs of Golarin.  Ahead, the crescent moon Jhang hangs just above the horizon like a bloody sickle, as if in portent of the battle to come.

Moving awkwardly in the sky, J'landria does the unexpected for a Jaka and flies.  Her white teeth glint in the light of the moon as she grins at her new friends.

Kar takes flight, watching as his new charges spread their wings for, what he knows, the first time. He helps any recover balance as necessary, untill they are more sure of their own bodies in the air.

Aalistair lifts off the deck of the ship, his staff held out in front of him with both hands. His flight is hesitant. When there is nothing beneath his feet but air, he wobbles slightly, but follows the others towards the Fate.

In reply to Kar (msg #3):

Wraith's short airman's cloak fans out behind him as the night air careens against him.  He feels the cold air in his bones, and is thankful that he wore his gauntlets.  His stomach churns a bit as his sense of direction diminishes.  It's difficult to discern up from down in all that cold darkness.  He watches Kar subtly manipulate the currents with all the ease afforded him by nature, and he feels a pang of jealousy.  "It would be nice to fly with that sort of ease," he says, clutching the hilt of his sword with his left hand, and squinting, tries to make out the severe profile of the Fangs of Golarin, and the dangers that await them in the dark.

In reply to GM (msg #1):

Jaxar leaves the deck of the Horn with surprising ease. All the decisions have been made and now it is down to the task at hand. Scanning ahead for movement on the deck of the Fate, and for sentries concealed in the rigging, his mind is at peace. There are no moral considerations to be made regarding Rajans, they are simply and obstacle to be removed.

Mirna follows the rag tag squad, taking to the air with an ease that almost surprises her.

She watches for any faltering behind, her confidence bolstering any who might be wavering, trying not to let on that she is wondering how many will find their final glories in this battle.

Wraith smiles and follows Kar's advice.  Much to his surpise, grabbing the cloak by the edges works quite well.  "Thanks, Kar,"  he says, his smile billowing.

Seeing and hearing the advice, she copies Wraith and becomes more comfortable in the air.  She moves with a little grace, and pulls herself a little higher into the sky, looking down at her companions, then looking ahead at the landscape, then shifting and looking at the tiny pinpricks of light in the sky, and the dusky outline of the moon.  She turns back over and looks down again upon the others who have taken to the sky and she smiles a small smile.

Athellin, Rammid, Rioniv, and the two Arimites, Hakim and Nohren, also take a draught of the potion, and join you in the air.

OOC:  Any looking ahead, go ahead and make PER rolls.

Re: The Fangs of Golarin, Talisandre, 620 NA

Ahead, Jaxar and J'landria's night-sensitive eyes make out the towering Fangs; less than a mile, but still some fair distance.

By the light of the silver moon, Kar's sharp Gryph eyes can make out a windship floating alongside the Fangs.  As you approach more closely, he sees some few individual figures silhouetted on the deck of the windship.

It becomes clear that coming straight on through the air is by far the fastest approach, but it will only be a matter of time before those on deck, and potentially any below, see the aerial assault incoming.

Spotting the Fangs ahead, J'landria lets her cloak go and readies her bow.  She doesn't get an arrow out yet, but she does put her hand on them so she can pull one out of the cork bottom of her quiver and quickly draw the bow.

Jaxar, too, will ready his bow and try to maneuver so as to strike from above as Kar suggested while taking heed of all the Gryph's advice and cautioning. Turning toward where the ship must be located, his feline eyes begin scanning for vulnerable targets.

((OOC: What he said ^^ LOL))

Mirna will maneuver around the ship to the opposite side from Jaxar, trying to position herself so that anything out of Jaxar's firing line is in hers. She will ready her bow and search for prime targets - either "easy pickin's" or strategically valuable.

Re: The Fangs of Golarin, Talisandre, 620 NA

The group of you fly silently in the dark, hurtling towards the Fangs and the windship.  None on the windship appear to make note of you, as you come in, 1000 yards, 800, 500...

The windship is mostly dark, save for some few small strategically placed lanterns, dimly glowing orange-red.

All of you come close enough to see the Fangs, the windship, and the dark horde of Beastmen north of the Fangs.

Mirna begins a sweep to the south to circle the windship, avoiding the Beastmen to the north.

As you fly closer, closing to 400 yards, then 300.  In the moonlight, several figures become visible down on the deck of the windship.  Two are standing near the helm, towards aft, while several are clustered on the starboard (far) side of the ship from you.

Aalistair, trusting that the Danuvian knows a bit more about melee combat than he does, follows Mirna on her approach with one hand on the hilt of his scabbarded sword and his staff gripped tightly with his other.

Wraith focuses in on the two individuals positioned at the helm.  He begins to trawl through his lexicon of spells, hoping that something he's learned might come in handy.
