Aalistair responds to the Kang's words with a swing from his staff, but he cannot quite reach him yet across the crowded and blood-smeared deck.

Aalistair rolled 1 using 1d20-4. Attack, Staff vs AL 8.

Rammid reels back from the thrust of the Kang blade. He is unsure how his mail is standing up so well but he is grateful for it. He lets the momentum of his parried attack bring his axe head around and down into the head of the Kang who parried it.

07:29, Today: Rammid rolled 15 using 1d20. Attack +0. DR 7 after PR

Gasping and looking up at Athellin, J'landria nods and pulls herself to her feet unsteadily.  She lifts her sword and puts it between herself and Athellin's attacker.  She swings wildly, still a little baffled and dazed from her recent experience.

Round 8

Bloody from their wounds, Mirna and the Kang leader lash at one another again -- and both blades bite, delivering deep wounds, and leaving both staggering.

Athellin, still trying to parry with his scimitar, begins a spell.  Neither his skill at arms or magic suffices, as the Kang's falchion rips into him, spell unfinished.  J'landria strikes at the warrior, but still unsteady after her recovery, her swing goes wide, as does Aalistair's blow with his staff.

Rammid's armor having foiled the Kang's last attack, it appears to be considering a different tactic; though none will ever know, as in the moment's hesitation, Rammid's axe sweeps from his low attacks up high, slicing the Kang's leather helm, and splitting its head like a ripe melon.

As Rammid's foe crashes to the deck, Wraith and his opponent cross blades; the heavier Kang threatens to throw the Cymrilian to the deck, but his deft reflexes counter, as they circle; Wraith moderately wounded, the Kang heavily so.

At the stern of the windship, Aeletheros hauls himself back up onto the deck.

People looking in that direction notice Aeletheros pull himself on deck a few moments ago at the stern of the ship. He gathers himself, breathes out a rushing incantation, and a ball of lightning leaps from his palm at the Kang engaged with Mirna. The scintillating sphere strikes it and the energies play all over its armor for a few moments.

OOC: 23:55, Today: Aeletheros rolled 7 using 1d20. Scintillating Static Sphere level 4. (Partial Success; 2 damage to Kang 1 bypassing armor, -2 to its actions for 1 round. Spell penalty -4)

Getting her feet steady again she interposes herself between the kang and Athellin more effectively.  Her tail rests on the rahastran so that she knows exactly where she is so that she can keep herself between them and she feints low with her sword tip, flicking the blade back and lashing out at his attacker.

Round 9

Mirna and the Kang Warrior, each bleeding from many wounds, raise their blades one more time and rush together.  As they poise for attack, Mirna is quicker, the blue blade sweeping inside the crimson warrior's guard and crashing through the gorget over his throat, just as a ball of lightning leaps from Aeletheros' hands and envelops the Kang, arcing and throwing sparks and smoke as it dances around his armor.  Smoke and blood pour from his body, dead before the falchion falls from senseless fingers to hit the deck.

Wraith Zephyr's blade, alive with sparks of its own, finds the heart of his foe, cleaving open his chest.  The corpse thuds to the deck with a heavy thud.

As the others close in on the remaining Kang warrior, Athellin drags himself, crablike, away from the slashing blade.

Aalistair crashes his staff into the Kang; the heavy armor dents but protects the warrior.   In return, the warrior slashes at Rammid.  His blow goes wide, as Rammid's axe crashes into him, penetrating the armor and drawing blood.

J'landria's blade dances as she does, weaving and flitting before slashing into the heavily armored warrior and finding a seam in the armor, cutting the Kang's flesh.

As the last of his companions fall, and his foes surround him, the last Kang backs away, raising his falchion defensively, his white eyes searching those of the windship crew as he snarls, "I yield!"

"Put away your sword, warrior,"
he says a bit softer. "Give us a chance to heal your companions."

Wraith wipes his blade on the fallen Kang's tunic.  Then he wipes sweat and grime from his forehead and breathes deeply.  When he hears the last of the Kang surrender he laughs.  "I never thought I'd see the day that a mighty Kang would surrender."  He airman leans against the railing and takes full measure of the bloodied and battered combatants.   The deck, once again, is soak with grime and piled with wounded bodies.  "They should be forced to recompense us for time and repairs."  Wraith sheaths his blade.  "Better yet, they should help us repair the vessel."

She looks around the group of companions, trusting the Kang to be well guarded.

"I will prepare some poultices and berries to help heal the wounds, if you will allow it," she says quietly.

Aeletheros rejoins the others from the stern of the ship, stopping to retrieve his longsword from where he embedded it in one of the masts. He hears Wraith's words and laughs; "I think I may well have been the only one to damage the ship, when I stuck my sword in the mast. The winds were not with me this time, I am lucky to be still alive. I apologize to the rest of you for vanishing for a time, that was not the intention when I invoked my magic."

Round 10

The Kang begins to lower his blade as Aalistair speaks, but raises it again at Wraith's words, low growl rumbling in his throat.

Athellin half limps, half crawls across the deck until he sits beside Rioniv, still thrashing helplessly and clutching at his wound.  With a wrenching yank, he pulls the crossbow bolt from the Marukan's shoulder, and with a quick flip of his hand, he is waving a pair of cards from his zodar deck, and Rioniv's wound begins to close.  Though not fully healed, the treatment seems to relieve his immediate pain and the thrashing.

"They are warriors, Sir Wraith, not carpenters," says the Aamanian. He keeps an eye on the warrior and his naked blade. "As I said, sheath that and allow us to heal your companions so that you might be on your way." He starts to lower his staff slowly. "Perhaps once we are sure that they shall live, we can negotiate. Aye, for it is written that drink shall be given to pilgrims equal to those who believe in Aa. Come, put away your sword that we might strive together to heal your kin."

J'landira begins humming, and a rumbling purr issues forth from her throat as she prepares the berries for eating and the poultices for bandaging wounds.  She trusts that the group will keep an eye on the Kang and she works diligently, pouring water and herbs into the bowl, carefully mixing with a claw the ingredients into a paste to be applied, snatches of song escape her lips occasionally, but more often it's just the purr and hum.

Rammid looks at the Kang and shakes his head. "I am but a lowly airman, so take my opinion for what it is worth. He and his fellows were ready to kill the lot of us and take the ship. They likely would have tried to kill us down in the city if they had the chance as well. Some beings do not deserve mercy."

He looks down with a scowl and begins to clean the gore from the head of his axe.

As the Kang leaves, Aalistair sighs and shakes his head.

"Well then... who is first in need of Aa's healing graces,"
Aalistair asks. "I just need to find my prayerbook and we can begin. As to these others," he gestures at the Kang. "Perhaps we strip them of their weapons, shave their heads like penitents, and leave them for the Marukans to nurse back to health? If only there were an aalms-house in the city."
