The Wind of Fate continues to climb, now soaring smoothly and rapidly up and forward, rising now a hundred yards above the tower, and closing to six hundred yards away.

She groans.

"He sees us," she says.  "He seems unsure as to what he is looking at.  We need to move now to eliminate or silence him."

Aeletheros growls in frustration as he keeps the ship in a banking climb; "We are still 600 yards away, how do you suggest we eliminate him? The best I can do is try to turn the windship so it heads up and away from the tower so he doesn't get a good focus on it."

The whip thin Arimite speaks up from wrestling with sails and rigging, "How fast can ye close with 'em?" his fingers lightly brushing his knives.

Having achieved a decent altitude above the tower Aeletheros levels the windship to gain more horizontal speed and continues the course angling to the left of the tower. He looks over at Hakim with a grim set to his jaws; "Should be faster now. I will make course corrections to get lower to the tower as we near but we still have some time to go."

Aalistair tugs on some of the rigging, keeping the sails taut. "If he hasn't raised an alarm, could he possibly think that we're some sort of horrid Rajani death-ship? They tried to take this one before, mayhaps they've taken others. Bring us in as fast as you safely can."

Wraith grasps a length of taut rigging and braces himself.  He looks at Hakim and says, "I can, perchance, hasten your movements."

Aeletheros' assessment proves true; leveled off, the windship, now back under full sail, moves rapidly forward, still 120 yards above the tower, and closing to but four hundred yards distance.

"The connection is gone," J'landria says.  She stands then and turns and looks over the edge of the ship, trying to watch the figure on the tower with her own eyes.  "Last I saw, he was moving around."

In reply to Wraith Zephyr (msg #550):

The Arimite's mouth curves up in a grim smile, as he eyes Wraith uncertainly.  "Aye, I could hasten my movements considerable, though the sudden stop would be an inconvenience, at the least," he replies, glancing down over the side of the 'ship."

Wraith laughs.  "Your point is well-taken; and no offense was intended.  I trust that your celerity and accuracy far surpasses anyone else's aboard this vessel.  I nearly hoped to hedge our bet.  Carry on, my friend.  I look forward to witnessing your cunning knife work."

Still 120 yards above the tower, the windship comes on fast, closing to just over 300 yards distance.

OoC:  Anyone wanting to try to determine what is going on at the tower top, roll PER.

Also, will need to know what the approach and intentions/plan is as you close.  It's a decent windship, but it's not a fighter plane!  That is if you are planning anything other than a fly-by, you'll need to start lowering sail and maneuvering

Rammid quickly goes below deck and fetches his bow and quiver. Stowing them on the deck he goes back to the rigging where his services as airman are needed. He keeps as sharp eye out as he works.

"If our intent is to get as close as possible to kill the sentry, then, yes, we need slow down and descend.  The same is true if we plan to enter the tower.  We will need to tether ourselves to something and get as close as possible without colliding."  Wraith continues to eyeball the sentry.

"So what's our plan, captains," Aalistair calls. "Drop sail and slow? Do we have an anchor or something we can snag the tower with?"

Heaven help me, do we have an anchor we can snag the roof of the tower with?

The Wind of Fate soars on, closing to 120 yards distant, and 120 yards above the tower.  It would appear, if Aeletheros continues to hold course, that the windship will pass just about ten to twenty yards to the left, or north, of the tower.

The sentry is still visible on the tower top.

Aeletheros makes sure the windship is still flying straight so it does not pass further to the left of the tower. With new data coming from the crew he works on having the windship descend so it comes in lower.

Aalistair works as directed on the ropes and sails, trying to keep up with the rapid changes. While he does so, he keeps an eye on the tower. Not just the guard on top, but as much of the tower as he can see from where he is on deck.

Aalistair rolled 23 using 1d20+3. Conveyance. Without knowing what penalties we might be facing, that is.
Aalistair rolled 11 using 1d20+2. PER.

Re: Wind of Fate, Upper Deck, 49 Zar  620 NA

Coming ever closer, the windship begins to drop under Aeletheros' control.  The distance closes to eighty yards, and as the vessel drops rapidly, it comes to 90 yards over the tower.

Mirna looses an arrow from her bow at the shadowy figure of the sentry, still standing in the lee of the partially ruined wall.  He seems to notice it at the last moment, trying to move out of the way.  It seems the arrow strikes him, but he is definitely still on his feet.

Aalistair, while working the rigging, finds the anchor he was curious about.
