Deadwood, Talisandre 620 N.A.

Welcome to Deadwood!

Nestled among several hills topped with stands of foreboding deadwood trees, the town taking its name from these same trees huddles on the edge of the Plains of Golarin and the Wilderlands of Zaran.

Here, it is told, brave frontiersmen can make their fortune digging blue iron from the earth, and any man, of any status can make his way and change his path in this town.  It is said the town itself was founded by simple Pharesian traders traveling through the borderlands.

At the south end of the town stands the Green Tower of Cymril, the kingdom to whom Deadwood nominally owes its fealty.  At the other end of the town's single main road sits Aa's Guiding Hand, a monastery and way station for Aamanian pilgrims traveling through.  All the road between stand shops, inns, and taverns which provide services for the residents and transients.

A small town has grown up among the miners here, providing for the basic needs of the people.

Re: Deadwood, 31 Talisandre 620 N.A.

Traveling from the north doesn't allow for the most scenic entry into the town of Deadwood.  On the north end of town, between two hills, huddles the tent town, where those too poor to live in the town proper set up their tents and exist on the edge of survival.  Winding tracks run through and around the tents, and beyond, the squat, white solid structure of a building can be seen, and others past that one.

As the travelers pass through the tents, a small boy rushes from between the tents brandishing a stick as though it was a sword, points it at Aalistair and hollers, "Hah!"  His eyes grow big as he gazes at the party.

Aalistair laughs softly while faking a deadly sword wound and collapsing to the ground. He sticks out on hand, shaking it as if trembling and weak. "A-avenge me, friends! For I am slain by the hand of Cholhar the Mighty!" He looks back over to the child through the dust and dirt and winks.

J'landria's eyes widen and she approaches the scene with an expression that speaks of curiosity, her ears forward and eyes bright while looking at the child.  She crouches by the boy and Aalistair and makes a soothing, purring noise in her throat.  She holds her hand out to the child, placing it under his and makes the sound again.

"May I show you something young one," she asks the boy, her feline eyes smiling and glittering, but her movements slow and easy as to not frighten him too much.  As she waits for his reply, she lets another long, slow, soothing purr out.

The child, suddenly serious, with eyes wide, glances at Aalistair, and then J'landria, and slowly, silently, nods his head.

J'landria takes the young boys hands in her own gently, the same soothing purring sound rumbling as she moves slowly.

"When facing a larger opponent, strike at their knees.  The backs preferably, but anywhere near there," she moves the hands down to carefully and gently tap Aalistair on the knees.  "That way they can not move as well and their reach is diminished.  Most armors be they natural or made are weak at all the joints, so it is one of the best places to attack."

J'landria leans back and releases the boys hands and smiles at him, careful to keep her mouth closed and teeth hidden.  Her ears are still very intent upon him and her eyes are glimmering with mirth.  Another low rumble of purring begins and she nods.

"Other than that, good job taking Aalistair down, he is quite a formidable foe," she winks at the boy and laughs a deep rumbling sort of laugh.

Aalistair rises, dusting himself off a little.

He leans close to the Jaka female and whispers,
"You know, of course, that he shall now terrorize the other children here. Until he gets beaten for it."
