Re: Deadwood, 31 Talisandre 620 N.A.

In reply to GM (msg #208):

Wraith enters the Blue Hand and approaches the smith.  "Greetings friend," he says, smiling broadly.  He unclasps the sword from his hip and places it on the counter.  "I'm wondering if you could do me the honor of repairing this blade's scabbard."  Gingerly unsheathing the weapon, he watches as patches of cloud seem to spiral beneath the blade's surface.  A gleam of lightening courses up the blade, as if reflected off the surface of a lake. "The blade could do with a good oiling as well," he drags a finger across the blade.  "It's held a pretty sharp edge."  He sheaths the sword again and says, "What say you?"

The Zandir man sighs, "Aye, I can fix a scabbard and care for your blade. Rarely do I get to do much else here.  'Tis a fine blade.  Do you know its lineage?"

In reply to GM (msg #210):

"I'm - ahem - afraid that I do not," says Wraith, adjusting his collar.  "But I'd be intrigued to learn anything about it that there is to know."  He furrows his brow as he looks over the weapon.  "Its an heirloom, that's all I know."He slides five lumen across the counter and says, "Will this suffice?"

"Good enough, then.  If you should think you might fancy a blue iron blade -- then you'll know where to come to.  I get few enough commissions for them," he frowns.

"Then this appears to be black iron, then?"
says Wraith, inspecting the blade.  "How much would a blue iron blade cost?"

A growl rises in J'landria's throat and then she nods.

"Yes, please," she says quietly, the rumble fading away.  "Shall I... wait somewhere?"

"They are usually working in the fields near town.  I can find a lad here to direct you, if you'd like?" the Aamanian offers.

"Aastar Solirrion at your service, by the way," he says, with a little bow.  "Please let me know if there is anything we can get for you.  Unfortunately, it is not easy to get goods out here, but we try to keep our prices reasonable," he nods, sweeping his hand around the shop

In reply to Wraith Zephyr (msg #215):

The smith looks quickly at the blade, "Aye black iron, but enchanted, for certain.  I could make you a blue iron blade, but 'twould not be magicked, as I am no enchanter.  But I could make you as fine a blade as you'd be likely to see, for a couple hundred hold lumens."

In reply to GM (msg #218):

"A fellow swordsmage once let me test out a blue iron blade that had been bequeathed to him by his uncle.  It was enviably light, and had been forged by a true master.  As much as I'd like to own one, I haven't the resources for such a purchase."  Wraith picks up his blade and looks it over.  Lightening shimmers once again across the blade.  "This will have to suffice, for the time being."  He lays the blade down on the counter and says, "On second thought, I'll have you polish and hone this weapon for me.   My time is limited, however, so if you could have the scabbard and the blade to me by the end of today, that would be great."

Re: Deadwood, 31 Talisandre 620 N.A.

"I can have it for you, for the end of the day.  And if you should come upon greater fortunes, pray do consider a blade from the Blue Hand." He smiles and nods at Wraith.  "If you'd like to try one of mine, you are welcome to do so," he indicates several fine looking blue iron blades hanging in his shop.  "Carry one for the afternoon, and return it when you pick up your blade," he cocks an eyebrow at Wraith, "a man might not want to walk this town unarmed."

J'landria smiles a very toothy smile at Aastar and nods.

"Blessed meetings," she rumbles, the 's' seems to hiss on her lips longer than normal and her tail thrashes once.  "A guide would be... appreciated."

Her gaze leaves his for a moment and then she looks back at him.

"The cost of a brace... of arrows?"

In reply to Wraith Zephyr (msg #221):

It is a fine, light sword, of amazing make.  Somewhat different from his own blade to which he is accustomed, but of such balance that he feels he can wield this one easily in its place.

"A single gold lumen will buy you a brace of arrows," Aastar smiles and nods.  He then calls for a lad and sends him out to find the Aeriad.

By the time you have finished your supplying and purchasing, he is back, and says he can take you to her.

[OOC:  Any who want to buy goods, most usual items can be purchased, but at 50% more than usual prices; lower, if you want to haggle.]

The young lad leads J'landria just out of town, where a bright patch of vegetation grows, tended by several Green Aeriad.  Her sharp eyes spot a couple Blue Aeriad gliding watchfully overhead.

The boy brings J'landria directly to one of the Greens, who straightens up from her task, bows, and extends a hand in greeting, "Chi-Kree," she says, "I understand you wanted to learn more of the local flora?"

Wraith finds the balance excellent.  Sheathing the weapon, he heads back into the town.  The suns are past the midpoint in the sky, and dropping into the west, yet it is still the full of the afternoon.

[OOC:  To move things along, I'll leave this open to anyone who wants to look around town or the shops, but I'm going to push the Deadwood thread into the evening.]

Re: Deadwood, 31 Talisandre 620 N.A.

The afternoon hours wear on, and the little town becomes more active, with various peoples bustling about with their business, or lack thereof.

Those conducting business in town are able to make any small purchases they desire.

J'landria is given a tour of the local flora, and is able to gather some herbs and berries.

Wraith finds that carrying the blade from the Blue Hand smithy gets him some interesting looks.  Some envious, some respectful.

Late in the day, the wind picks up, and it begins to feel cold.  The light of the suns, low in the sky now, becomes weak and watery.  The residents look at the sky and the surrounding hills with trepidation, and begin to get off the streets.

Watching the people escaping the evening, Kar begins to wonder.

Seeking out the white clad merchant, he asks

"Why does it seem these folk are running from the evening? As much as we need the suns' brilliance, one would think the evening would see more folks venturing out to enjoy this cool respite."

Kar finds the merchant at his shop, the Chained Star; he and a few others are working at closing it up and drawing the shutters, but he does take a few moments to speak with the Gryph.

"It is not the evening they seek to escape, but rather the wind and the weather."  He looks about, and sniffs the air, "There is something supernatural in this wind, as we sometimes get out here on the edge of the Wilderlands.  It is best to be under cover when it comes, and let it blow through."

The gathering wind makes Wraith a bit uneasy.  He pulls the cowl of his cloak over his head and decides to venture into the nearest eatery, hoping to find some of his boon companions under the same roof.  As the sword clacks against his hip, he has sinking feeling that he will never see his other weapon again.

Wraith sees a few locations as he walks down the road.  He believes he spies Zosha, Nas, and Kolarios heading into the Grey Tower.
