Also, I want to let you know, I think I'm going to skip Sophia. It's taken me over a month to write an opening post and I still don't have anything actually written for it. So I think that's a sign that I should not be making new characters at the current time.

Did you get all the stuff from Crossroads saved? I don't want to unsticky it if we still need to get stuff from it. I'm pretty sure once no one has it stickied anymore it goes on the fasttrack to permanent deletion.

That's fine, Deb.  To be honest, I'm pretty sure this game is dying.  No one logs on anymore and I seem to be the only one still interested.  If no one wants to play, then maybe we should just let this die.

I have saved all the Crossroads stuff, so it's safe to unsticky.

I don't usually get on msn. But I still check rpol whenever I get on my computer.

This Friday, me and the kids aren't going to my brother's, so I should be on. Though, I won't be on very late, since we've been going to bed at 9, so I get tired early.

Niiiiiseeeeey, I love you. Will you post somewhere for me? It's your turn in Swollen Portfolios, the thing with Leigha & company in New York, and in California on the movie set. I have other characters that want to come out and play but I've technically already got three going so I worry about overload (not necessarily overload for me, but most of my peeps play with your peeps and I don't want to have 7 or 8 threads waiting for you. That's just overwhelming).

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Oh. Well, in that case, Logan has shut down. I suspect it is due to one of two reasons.

1. He thinks he'll actually have a good time out with his cousin and son. And you know how he feels about that sort of thing.

2. I haven't gotten around to going back and figuring out how old Jason is.

I'm trying to make time for looking up the Jason thing so that if that's the reason then I can fix it. But I'm also in the process of deciding how to write an author bio for myself, try to blog more than once every couple weeks, and clean my darn house (though it looks better than usual since I did major cleaning before leaving for my conference.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

FYI: No idea what my online time will look like this week. Tomorrow night (Tuesday) there's a BBQ for Mother's Day and my grandma's bday. Then we may or may not be driving 2 hours to Newton because we have a funeral for Allen's step-grandpa on Wednesday. After that, they're bringing his grandma up here for a visit because his brother is graduating Thursday night. So we're going to take her to the zoo on Friday while his mom works. Then Sunday, my sister and Allen's stepsister are both graduating, plus there's a going-away party for my cousin who's moving to AZ and an Open House Picnic at Allen's work, so we'll be doing some combination of those things. Then Sunday is a graduation party in the afternoon and a potluck & missions presentation in the evening. And I haven't even really looked at next week yet. So there you go.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

I've been thinking lately about what we can do to reinvigorate this place. And I got to thinking about when we all met and started writing together. And the thing is, when we started, we were all writers who enjoyed roleplaying. And I think somewhere along the line, we've become roleplayers. But that's not who we are and I think that's why we get burnt out like we do and we get busy and it gets put on the back burner, because it's not as refreshing to us as our first love. We all need to write. And I'm not talking about this stuff. This stuff is fun and I love brainstorming with you guys and writing with you and letting other people help to make the story more interesting and powerful and whatever. But at the end of the day, we all need to be making time to write for ourselves. To write our own stuff.

So, I have a proposal. The month of June is Camp NaNoWriMo. It's the same 50,000 word project as November, but it's more low-key and all the group stuff is online. No physical get-togethers. So I say we take June off. Those of us who want to write something for Camp NaNoWriMo, do that. Those of us who aren't into writing novels, pick something else as our goal for June. Maybe your goal will be to write 15 short stories (that's one every other day). Or maybe the goal is to write and illustrate a children's book (I know that won't be any of us, but it's a valid goal, put out there for illustrative purposes). Whatever the goal, I think we should start a thread in here, state our goals, and encourage each other in them during the month of June. And then maybe we should do something like this every few months.

This time, it's make your own goal. Maybe another time it'll be for each of us to take someone else's Unbound character and write them in an alternate universe scenario. I'd love to see David as written by Sopha. Or Dee as written by Britt. And then maybe another time we can do drawings or photoedits of each other's characters. Or just whatever. But I think that trying to get our engines going by sitting around waiting for them to start is the wrong path. Engines don't start by themselves. Engines start when you stick the key in and turn it. They need that little jolt of electricity. And I think it's hard to get that little jolt of electricity going in a group like this, when we're all available at different times. I think we all need a jolt, but we're not going to be able to get it from each other at this point in our lives. So let's each figure out our kickstart, and get to kicking in June.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Finn was a character who created himself. Partly because we needed a director for Logan to go whine to. But honestly, as crazy as I know this makes me, I was laying around in bed, just thinking about stuff and it was like he just walked up and said, "Hi. I'm Finn. I'm directing the movie." So I made him. And since he was in-your-face about being created, I figure eventually he'll start bugging me for air time. So you're not forcing me to play him, that's for sure. You just figure out which lady you'd like him to meet.

No. She knew him for like, a week, before she slept with him. Then she hated him. Then she decided he was alright, as long as they weren't sleeping together. Then she found out he was open to more than sex with "the right girl" and didn't want to fall in love with him, so she did. She's a very psychotic little chick. But that last part happened in New York, so we're talking like, 6 months in there.

Two things.

1. I'm not feeling well today, so I won't be on. I'm probably going to play the sims 3 on the PS3 until it's time to put the kids to bed.

2. Gavin asked what it was with Fiona and having to trust people in dangerous situations. Maybe she should enlighten him regarding some of the situations she's been involved in that would qualify as dangerous. Like helping Jack and Araceli get back in touch. Just to show him that it really is important to be trustworthy in a bad situation. Just a thought I had when I was reading that scene. He thinks she's being overdramatic because the worst thing that probably ever happened to him was a horse trying to give birth to a breech baby.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

For the wedding, it's just siblings and parents, right? So for David's side, there'd be his sibblings and their dates. And his parents (not including Mitchell, who apparently doesn't consider David family even after being married to his mom for so long). For the Ohio reception, he'd invite the entire Hofman clan. Only the Ohio-based members (plus the Groves) will come. No Jessika or Klarissa. They can't afford the trip from New York.

He'll also invite his ex, Emily and her husband, Michael (who is also his boss). And he'll invite his partner, Chester, along with his wife and family (2 sons). He'll also invite a little old lady who's been living in his apartment building since before he bought it. I don't know her name, but I can come up with it if you really need it. David will also invite his pastor and his wife. I don't know the pastor's name yet, but the wife is named Agatha. They don't have any kids locally. And he'd invite the local organizer of the blind softball league where he volunteers.

Those are the only non-Hofman invitees. If I get a chance later, I'll make a list of the known Hofman clan and figure out their locations/spouses/kids/etc. so that you'll have a super accurate guest list. I don't know if I'll get to it today, since we're going to my brother's tonight and I've been addicted to my PS3 lately. Major Sims 3 kick. Happens every once in a while. I go months without playing and then play obsessively for several weeks. It's how I roll. Or something. Anyway, I'll try to get all the names out of the character data spreadsheet and see who needs more info added to them. Try to get it all done in Word so that I can just dropbox it to you.

Do I'll hopefully make myself a space and be able organize my mind enough to have time for rpol again. So it occurred to me this morning that with Daphne's probable ethnic heritage being Hungarian-Romanian, that if Firenze were to serve something at Thanksgiving that's ethnically Hungarian (and if I remember correctly, she always does), Daphne would probably recognize it.  Her mother was only 15 when she left Romania and had Daphne, so it's incredibly likely that she would have served her homeland dishes to her child growing up.

Imagine what that would do to Logan... the woman he's trying not to be in love with is also part-Hungarian and Catholic and loves his grandmother's cooking?

Maybe Davey. I'll have the stuff with his mom's cancer nailed down because of Logan (since his mom is so close with Mel), so I might as well make my way around all the people who are connected to Mel. Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Soooo... as I was in Unbound separating threads, I came across a conversation between Erica and Jax during Christmas of 1993.  It happened when they were in the bathroom and Erica had freaked out when she overheard Malcolm and James talking about Katherine.  She thought they were planning to kill her.  She told Jax she had to tell him something and didn't know how to say it and his response was, "You're not pregnant, are you?"

Later, they talked about his comment and he said:

quote:
"Okay. It wasn't. . . I didn't mean that I wouldn't want to have a kid with you. I really would probably be thrilled. At the right time. But now is not that time. And I've been down the road where I knocked someone up and then got married. That road sucks and I don't plan to get detoured down it again." He sighed and looked at the ceiling. He wasn't sure he was doing such a good job of explaining himself.

"When I ask you to marry me, I want it to be because I'm ready. And I want you to know that it's because I love you. And not because I knocked you up."

I believe *this* is the conversation you were remembering the other night, and it would change the whole "when did they get married" thing.  See, the thing is, they both knew in 1993 that Jax did NOT want to get married because she was pregnant.  Erica is very sensitive to what Jax needs and wants and would then make it a priority to make sure she didn't get pregnant before they got married.  With this all in mind, I propose that the date of their wedding changes, since we apparently never rped the proposal or wedding, and move it to before she gets pregnant with Mara.  Also, I had a different date for Mara's birthday in that Hofman birthdays document, but I know there was a reason later for her birthday to be in September, though I don't remember what that is.  So, I changed it in the birthday list and hers is officially August 31.

TL:DR - Jax and Erica had that baby/marriage conversation years before we remembered and therefore we should change the date of their wedding to at least 6 months earlier than what we came up with on Monday.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Okay, so, during Ilona and James' wedding, Emma asked Erica if she and Alexis were moving to Chatham.  So when was Ilona and James' wedding?

edit: Okay, found an msn convo/

quote:
[Deb] okay. technically, their anniversary is before the wedding by probably a month or two. do you think malcolm would do anything special for it?

||Sotalia|| probably take her out to dinner and buy her a bookstore or something

So, now the question changes to when did Gizi and Malcolm get married?  I'll keep looking on SRP. :)

edit 2: Did not find the actual wedding anywhere.  However, I believe it was on either April 27 or April 28, as on the 28th, Gizi and Malcolm had sex for the first time and Malcolm referred to their honeymoon being rained out.  I'll let you decide the exact date.

This means, though, that Ilona and James' wedding was in May or June.  In the timeline, I have that Erica moved to Ohio in May.  There's a range of months that she could have moved: May, June or July, possibly August.

edit 3: *Schawing!*
quote:
||Sotalia|| when was I&J's wedding?
[Deb] I'm thinking June. Still the beginning of summer-ish, but long enough after school got out that Ilona wouldn't have been rushing things too much in terms of planning.

So, depending on what part of June the wedding was, that narrows down Alexis and Erica's move-in to late June or sometime in July, and the beginning of her freakout would be in July or August.

If I don't find anything else, then I want to narrow everything down to a date if possible.  Since Ilona is yours, you can pick her date of wedding and I'll pick the move-in date.  :)

edit 4: I found the old Hofman Birthdates file, with the old years, and that one states that Gizi and Malcolm were married May 25th.  However, on SRP, the actual physical date that we played it out (which I still can't find, btw) was April 27th or 28th.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

We never played them actually getting married. But the first sex thing was their honeymoon. So that would have technically been the right date. Though, originally we were pretending like that was closer to her birthday (which is in December), so it gets a little screwy when you stretch things back out to normal time. I don't really care which way you want to do it. The May 25 works, or we could go with the April date.

Okay. So, according to my mental survey, Rosalind is the only one who got the blessing out of the grandkids. Maybe Maggie, but she's not speaking to me, so I suspect she's already defected into your head, just waiting for an opening to join Rosalind. So the only other potential blessing candidates are Claudia and Johnny. And Claudia will only get it if Keran convinces her to get married soon enough. Johnny is one year younger than Claudia (well, part of a year, anyway).

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Okay. So, eventually, Kyra's going to wonder where the hell her pictures are. She'll go to Logan, who will tell her that he "got a better offer" and gave them to someone else. Which leaves two people, since the pictures weren't leaked. She'll guess Daphne because she figures Anthony wouldn't bother to pay money in order to get them. So she'll go to Daphne and ask her how much she paid for them. Assuming Daphne will tell the truth, Kyra will be skeptical that the "better offer" didn't involve money. She will assume that Daphne slept with Logan in order to get the pictures, and despite the fact that she and Anthony no longer get along, she'll feel obligated to warn him. After that, it's up to the individual characters to go where they would go. But I figure any discussion that involved "Did you sleep with X?" wouldn't go over very well with Daphne.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Info for Sopha

Jax: As a cop, Jax tries to be even-handed with discipline, not playing favorites. He especially tries to treat all of the children the same because of the nature of their mixed family. He doesn't want any kid feeling like he loves them more or less because they're a step kid or have a certain mom. That said, as the baby, Johnny would have had less rules by virtue of the general weakening of all parental rules as they have more children. So he wouldn't have been spoiled by any means, but he might have been considered spoiled by his older siblings.

David: He would have been a lot more relaxed and fun to be around before the whole thing with his ex. But even after, he tends to deflect things with humor, so he wouldn't have been terrible to be around except for right after the breakup. His relationship with all of his siblings is pretty similar if only because he's not fully related to any of them and therefore there are no favorites to play. He is, understandably, more protective of the girls. But as a wounded man, he'd at least warn Johnny to be careful.

And now I gotta go, so if I think of something else I'll try to add it later.

Is there some setting somewhere that you flipped?

EDIT: It's not from him, but it's still weird that I can't see any new PMs. As game owner, you should be able to see everything. So is it a PM between two of you guys? I'm assuming that since we're all GMs, it won't let us see each other's PM boxes. But game owner should see everything. Either way, I'm reluctant to hit the mark all as read until I know why it's saying I have a new PM in the first place.

Thinking about stories that can/cannot be skipped forward.

Jack/Araceli/Maleena/Greg is way behind. I think they're still in 2017, even. Don't remember. I need to look at our timeline again to see when the baby's due. We should probably do the birth scene. Did the kid ever get a name in the 2025 stuff? I remember it's a girl. Don't remember much else. Other than Jack ends up with her.

Did we ever write up a scene when Jack realized he hadn't seen Maleena in a while? Even if the whole baby thing is majorly complicating his life, I think he'd still be upset that she decided to run off to the East coast without telling him.

The opening had to be 2017.  Kat was born in 1999. And she was out of high school for the opening. She would have had another year to go in 2016. And, I greatly suspect that Chris wouldn't have touched her then, even if she wasn't a Rosakis.

So. Hell of a morning. We have a funeral to go to this morning for Allen's stepdad's grandpa. And right behind my alarm is a text letting me know that one of our church members died this morning. She's been fighting cancer for longer than they originally told her she'd live. Amazing woman. Very sad.

Okay. So, on the topic of Derrick and Alexis. Where are we going to pick them up? Shall I figure out a date for him to propose and whatnot? Or was there a scene or two that you wanted to write before that?

I actually need to go back and read a bunch of our old stuff with them. You were asking all that stuff about his teammates, and I was thinking, "I can't even remember his crazy roommates name." There isn't a crapton of stuff for them, so if I can find it all, I'm thinking it'll only be an hour-ish of reading. Not like re-reading Jo and the Boys. That stuff took me a few hours.

So, I remembered at 2am last night that we have an appointment in KC at 10 this morning for Nathan. I hate being up this early. But anyway. Nisey, if you post on your lunch, go ahead and text me. If I'm not the one driving us back, I'll try to post from my phone. But there's only the tiniest of chances that we'll be home by then, since we're of course going to hit the game store while we're there. Allen has actually sold enough pieces online to be able to buy a new box set of figurines to paint. And the store there gives him a 15% discount (and the store owner is cute in a dorky way and always recognizes us when we come in, even though that's only like once every few months when Nathan has to see the endo).

Our characters should never joke. It's just cruel to their future selves. This is a little Derrick/Alexis moment from the archives.

quote:
"Awesome.  Can't be crushing dreams.  Yet," she said, winking.

He nodded.

"It's much more epic if you let me build them up a little first."

As an aside, for our Lurker. We keep all our old threads. Our current method of archiving is to download threads when they're ready to be purged. Then we keep them in a shared Dropbox folder so that we all have access to them. Denise can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure she's been slowly going through them all and putting them into yWriter in scenes. yWriter is a really awesome little writing program that we give lots of love. I went looking for a blog post I wrote about it, but to my horror, I couldn't find one. Though I did have two other blog posts for the same site, so maybe I just wrote about it in my 30 Days of PreWriting book and it didn't get its own post on the blog. Who knows. Anyway, awesome program, you can find more about it here: http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter5.html

Anyhow. I don't know that you'll find that method of archiving to be of any benefit. But I figured since we've mentioned how much other writing there's been, I'd let you know where we put it all.

More fun quotes from Thanksgiving 1993:

quote:
"Logan's the mean one," Caleigh said.

quote:
Ilona smiled. "Well, we have plenty to spare. And we come with built-in dysfunctionality. So you get the real family taste."

Also, Nisey, I remember how Gizi knew Eniko was pregnant just by looking at her at Thanksgiving. I forgot about it until I was rereading. After the first few, she started wearing a specific shirt when she was knocked up, so she wouldn't have to keep telling everyone she was pregnant. So when she got there:
quote:
Klara nearly made it out of the house, but returned after spotting Eniko.
"She's wearing the green shirt!" she exclaimed. Ilona turned to Klara, her eyes wide.
"Are you kidding me?"
Nearby, Firenze shook her head, clucking her tongue.

Hannah - Chicago
Laura - Chatham

Melanie & Mitchell - Medina

quote:
Cili's eyes glittered with excitement.

"What's it about?" she asked. "Is it because Mara's in that movie?"

quote:
"Turning to Roman, she stage whispered, "Seriously. Is it about the movie? Little known fact: She's not the only Hofman involved."

quote:
When the girl approached, he leaned closer to her.  "Really?  Who else in in the movie?"

quote:
"He's not actually in it. But Logan Boland, the head cameraman? He's a Hofman too." She grinned. "We're everywhere."

quote:
"Did he say what he's writing about? I asked him if it was because of Mara being in that movie, but he never answered."

quote:
"...Mostly, I just want to know what brought you here. Little Cili of course thinks it's the movie, but she's young yet..."

quote:
"If it will make her feel better, I plan on interviewing the two in Hollywood as well," he said, smiling.

quote:
"She's fourteen. I doubt she'll actually hear what any of us say unless we tell her you're really hear about the movie."

quote:
"And he's not in Hollywood yet. They haven't even started rehearsals for that movie. Cili's just over-excited, since it's Mara's first big part and she thinks it's some magical aligning of the stars that Logan's friend is the director and is giving him a shot on it. Right now, Logan is finishing up a project in Chicago and then he'll make arrangements to move out to LA. Mara's been out there for a while, doing plays and small projects. I don't think the film people have even finished casting yet."

And finally, what Mara says about her role in the movie:

quote:
She grinned.  "No movies or anything exciting like that.  I started on stage, moved to commercials and landed this gig since my director on my last commercial said I was adorable.  And here I am.  I know this part isn't like, huge, but my goodness, I'm still so excited about this!"

Now, I don't know how long it takes from auditions to the first day on set.  I tried looking.  But regardless, she wouldn't have even known about the part until around June, since by April 7th, she had started in her second play.  Rehearsal + show run would place the ending around May 25 or so.  Commercials don't take long to film, usually only a day, so she could easily have done several in a couple of weeks.  So, mid-June at the earliest.

Therefore, the movie wasn't even on Mara's radar during the rp.  But, maybe Cili thinks Mara's in movies, since at 14, Hollywood = Movie stars.

As for Logan, his part can stay.  Finn would have known by April that he had the green light for the movie, and with Logan in Chicago filming Love Affair, it's not inconceivable that he would have asked Logan ahead of time to film his movie.

So we can change most references to "a movie" and then change "she's not the only Hoffman involved" to "she's not the only one in movies." Then modify her statement after that to match.

"Two in Hollywood" could be left as an assumption on Roman's part that movies = Hollywood. And then I can edit out the part about Mara in the last post.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

So, if we assume that Firenze (as the matriarch and a person with not much to do other than know everything about her family), knows about Cili's little gift. I can change Post #164, page 8 to say (change in italics):
Firenze Hofman:
Mostly, I just want to know what brought you here. Little Cili of course thinks it's the movie, but she's young yet. We don't tell her everything and she loses track of what is and is not public knowledge."

Change #245 to say "about a movie." I don't think that Caleigh would be privy to the fortune-telling prowess of her niece, especially since she's been living elsewhere for the last 10 years. But since she knows that Logan is headed to Hollywood, she might not think it odd to mention two in Hollywood. Or, we could change it to "movie stuff." That would leave it more vague and would show that she's not aware of "the movie" yet.

I can get rid of any mention of Mara in Caleigh's last post, so it would now be:

Caleigh Roberts:
"And he's not in Hollywood yet. They haven't even finished casting yet and he's finishing up a project in Chicago. After that's over, he still has to make arrangements to move out to LA. Mara's been out there for a while though, doing plays and small projects."

What do you think? Does it fix our problem and put us back on track?

You always have such important conversations with characters. Mostly I just have conversations with Caleigh where she goes back and forth about whether or not she just wants Roman to kiss her and get her all hot and bothered sooner rather than later. She wavers a lot.

And then there's Logan who's all "Can you give me an excuse to kiss her this post?" For every post.

I think the general pattern here is that my characters are horny. Maybe I need to chat with my husband.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

So, since Netflix is losing a bunch of stuff later this month, I was trying to watch anything that was on my queue that we were going to lose. I watched Alice, which was actually really excellent and now I'm kinda sad I didn't watch it sooner so that I might have watched it a dozen or more times before it gets removed. Anyhow. Andrew Lee Potts.

I'll let that sink in a little, though honestly, half of his appeal was the ridiculously gorgeous accent and the tiny little smile.

Now, I'm debating between making a character to play using him for a face, or forcing one of you lovely ladies to watch Alice so that you can get the proper Hatter feel and make a character for some lady. I don't know who. There's still Ginny left in the Hofman camp. Or Hannah. Or, if I went for a gypsy girl, there's Roman's cousins (though Emise is the only name I actually remember right this second).

Just had to share before I go to bed. I think I'm going to watch Alice again on Saturday if I don't get to go out with my mom. I really did enjoy it and I think I'd enjoy it even more if I finished reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland between now and then. Elisebeth and I are almost halfway through. And then I'm sure I can find a free copy of Through the Looking Glass. And then I'll be all officially knowledgeable about Wonderland stuff.

Though, really, I'm wondering why the Hatter is the absolute best character in almost all the Wonderland derivative stuff. I seriously loved Hatter Madigan from Looking Glass Wars, too.

WHERE ARE YOU BRITT AND SOPHA?!

Btw, I found the thread where Criss (Daniela's papa) runs into Erica Cantos and reveals to Diora they had a child together and Erica gave him up for adoption.  That means Daniela has a 10-years-older brother out there somewhere. :D :D :D

Okay, Nisey. There's a new file in your Dropbox about the changes we need to make in the Hofman Chronicles stuff in order to avoid writing from people who we don't have a good relationship to just ask if we can use it. Read it at your leisure. But it basically sets out the changes that I plan to make and the changes I definitely don't want to make. Let me know if there's something I'm forgetting that we'll need to change or if there's something that maybe we shouldn't change. I'll be writing up an outline for the portions of stuff that will need to be rewritten while I'm searching for visuals to use for everyone.

Just a heads up. My phone has been shut off since Saturday. As soon as I get a reimbursement check from the church, I should be able to get it back on, but that won't be until at least Wednesday night, so probably Thursday to get it back on.

Also, our internet it shut off right now. Allen's dad is maybe going to help us get it back on today, but I'm not going to guarantee that. I'm at the library to post this right now and if we got much longer without internet, I'll probably be camping out here for internet on a regular basis, but since Allen got a new job (Hallelujah!), I won't be able to look at anything in the evenings until we get internet at home again.

Miss you ladies. Love you.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Info for Sopha in case she wants to do my cover:

Leslie Alloway face(s): I haven't actually picked her a face yet, so feel free to pick whichever girl you can find a good picture for.
  • Sophia Bush
  • Ginnifer Goodwin
  • Emilie de Ravin (as a brunette)
  • Some other brunette. I have no clear image of her, really.

Leslie is a gardener working in a tree nursery, so don't pick anything too glamorous for a picture.

Alexander Coel face(s): I started to make a list for this one too, but then I looked at an IMDB list and found the perfect face. Joseph Morgan. For the cover, he needs to have completely black eyes. Or sunglasses. Either one works for me.

I don't have a title yet. I don't even have a crappy working title. It's about aliens. And they're in a rebellion together, trying to save the earth and whatnot. I don't know. I'm not very far into things. I have no idea what it's really about yet.

Technically, it's future. Or at least not specifically anywhere in the past. There was an alien invasion and they won. So now we're the conquered species. We have most modern things, but they ration certain stuff. And clearly things like guns and other weapons are restricted. But in terms of style, it's modern day.

And like demon eyes. No whites. Technically, his eyes were removed and replaced with alien eyes. But it amounts to the same thing.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Yay! Ty Sopha for making covers.

Mine don't have faces yet.  I have 4 main characters, they don't all have to be in the cover.

Bethany - black, short, curly hair.  White girl, short, not super thin, 24, college student, quiet, photographer.

Jack- longish dark blonde hair, scruffy, white guy, tall (6'ish), 27, male nurse, rides a motorcycle.

Danielle - long, straightened black hair, black girl, tall (5'7"ish), sporty-thin, 22, college student, cheerleader

Charlie - short black hair, clean-cut, black guy, looks kind of like Eugene Byrd (Clark from Bones), but younger.  26, salesman for an energy company.  If you think he could pass for 26, use Eugene Byrd.

Basic premise - Six college kids on a photo scavenger hunt take a picture of something that doesn't want to be seen.  It (a vengeful ghost) chases them through the streets of Phoenix and kills them off one by one.

If you want to use the first dead girl scene, she gets killed off by a shadow in a public bathroom while she's primping.  22, cheerleader, blonde, floozy.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Nisey-

Hannah says she's supposed to end up with her current boss' brother. I don't know who her current boss is, but Daphne helped her get her job. And she's a personal assistant. So I'm not sure if Daphne actually knew the person, or if Daphne wrote her a letter of recommendation or what, but she helped in some way. And apparently, now Hannah's boss is having a baby, which is why his brother will be around. But she's been fairly vague on other details, like her boss' name or what he does or any of that. So, if you're willing to make the brother, there's at least a bit of flexibility for you. I don't care if you want to make the boss too. You're fairly good at hot brothers, if I recall correctly.

And I may be on at some point tonight. Don't know. We're having car issues now and Allen's going to be in a grumpy mood because of it, so we'll see what gets done around here.

Oh. Yeah. That menu is specific to that area, apparently. I hadn't ever tried to use those things, so I didn't realize it was like that. I may actually put in a suggestion in the development forum to make those things easier to get to. It's not intuitive at all. I only found them because I knew that I'd created them so I was like "Now, how do I get to them?"

You can also get the menu to change if you go into Game Info (that link is way way at the very top, on the right). I went in there while I was figuring out how to find the stupid links, but missed the menu change. It was pointed out to me when I posted something in the Development forum. Anyway. No fewer clicks that way, but at least it's more intuitive to find it there.

But it took me forever to figure out why my Dropbox was suddenly full when I hadn't really added more than a couple files. After your hard drive issues, I'm glad you were able to get everything moved. I would consider the writing stuff to be irreplaceable. So, better an inconvenience for me than a total loss for you.

As an aside, after a super frustrating day with my children yesterday (I swear, they both went completely insane on me), I was all "Man, I want to play the Sims." Only we lost my Sims 2 Apartment Life CD in the move. And not even in the landlord-evil situation. It was lost before that. And it's amazing how hard it is to find a replacement for that. Updated the portraits list.

There are two "faces" that are duplicated - Taylor Kitsch (Blake Gauthier and Jansen Polo) and Karen Gillan (Ginnifer Boland and Cameron Reeves).

There are two characters without portraits and should have one - Marco Alero and Deliah Bedrosian (I'm up for ideas for Marco).

There are two with unidentifiable portraits - Xander Solomon and Naomi Sorenson. (Naomi's will stay as-is, since she's a really cute kid and Naomi's really an NPC.)

As far as Xan's face. I've seen an ID for him. It's a guy in a band. If it's not in the Portrait ID lists, then I have no idea where I saw the ID. Someone in a game somewhere was a fan of the band and mentioned it. I totally thought I'd taken the time to report the ID in the list forum. I think it was in Streets, maybe (it was a really long time ago), so not really an ID I'm likely to be able to just pop in and find again. Grr.

I may have to call their tech support. Because it determined my dropbox is full, it is refusing to sync at all. Which means that no matter what you do from your end, it isn't translating it to mine. Though, it may also just be that you removed the folder, which would sever the sharing and therefore that folder won't sync so my copy, as the last version I had, is still full.

I'll fiddle with it.

But you have the whole thing on your comp, right? So if I move that folder and start deleting stuff that isn't mine, it's not going to screw you up?

Thank you, guys. We are very happy about our April Fools Day baby. And my labor went pretty fast. We got to the hospital at 7am, they actually got around to starting the induction meds around 9, he broke my water at 11:15 or so, and I had a baby at 1:44. So even the sucky parts were over fast enough that while they were sucky, I still feel pretty good. Yesterday, was a sucky day, since all my parts decided to be sore all at once. But I actually feel pretty good. And my sleep deprivation is fairly mild.

Two things.

1. For a second, I totally forgot the girl's name was Heaven, so at first I thought he was telling Penny that standing there holding her hand was Heaven. And then when I finished reading I was confused and then had a "duh" moment.

2. Izzy! I want to play with you too!

Okay, I lied, more things.

Ginny is apparently serious about wanting to get her story told too. Anybody want to make a friend/future guy for her? She's going to need some friends that party with her currently, some friends to make along her path toward sobriety, and hopefully, a guy at the end who will help her stick it out and then be her happily ever until we decide to do something else to her.

If possible, I'd sure like it to be this guy: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1524440/?ref_=tt_cl_t9

Okay. So, since I first heard of Kai's death, my brain has been doing weird things to me. Basically, the thought process is something like this:

"We can kill our characters off? I never thought of that. Maybe I should kill Jo off in a car wreck or something. Sash would gain instant depth. And I'd have a reason to play Kiley again. And Xan. Of course, we'd have to decide once and for all if she ended up with Ash or Logan. But I've been wanting to continue that for ages."

It continues on from there. But someone should probably talk me down from it altogether. Right? I should not kill my favorite character ever?

Well, here's an option- make her go missing. A plane crash, somewhere in the mountains or in the middle of the ocean or something where they can't get to the plane or find it. Or an avalanche cutting her off from civilization or a flood or an earthquake collapsing a building on her or collapsing a building she's supposed to be in or really, anything that makes her disappear and make people fear for her life.

Then all those people mentioned will still want to come out and play, because of the fear and grief and all that.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Rereading the stuff with Jo and the twins has staved off any desire to kill her off. For now. But it has led to a lot of thinking about the rest of her story and how that ties in with Sash. I now need to compile all the Sash stuff I can find so I can figure some things out.

I did determine, Denise, that unless I find a spot where she specifically says she's an only child (and really, I could probably make it work even then), Jo and someone *could* have a kid together. But I'm thinking probably an oops baby, because Jo's not really interested in having more after the evil that is toddler Sash. After rereading all that stuff, Sash was a terror. Jo would not want to go through that stage again, even though she loves Sash like crazy. So it would have to be an oops baby. And probably one that would be born late enough that Sash would be just as likely to resent the kid and think of it as her mom's second family, rather than a sibling. Which could explain a lot of her self-destructive, attention-getting behaviors. She'd go from being spoiled rotten to feeling like an outsider at an age when she'd be nearing teenage rebellion and puberty stuff already. It'll have to be worked out. And like I said, I'm going to compile all the Sash stuff and reread all of that, too. And then I'll probably do a character writeup of some sort to figure Sash out. I think the wishy washy nature of Sash in my head has a lot to do with why the plot with her and Mark hasn't been going anywhere. We barely even get the urge to write them, and I know we have other characters who are stronger, but we should still come around to them every once in a while.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Deb- As I was reading your texts, this clicked: What if Mr. Blair *wasn't* around? If I remember right, the spirited one was a traveler and the grumpy one owned a growing business. Either one would have the potential to be an absent boyfriend/husband/stepfather so maybe he was? Off doing his thing, leaving Jo and Sash to fend for themselves. Or maybe there were other problems that popped up to complicate the relationship. Eventually Mr. Blair would come back, because he's madly in love with Jo and can't stay away, but by that time the damage would be done to Sash.

This makes Oops Baby unneeded, but hey, what if we add Oops Baby into that scenario? His return coincides with Oops Baby and now Sash has to deal with the idea that he would stay for Oops Baby but not her (even though that isn't the truth). How much damage would *that* do?

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

It would explain why most of her attention-seeking is sexual, too. Because the father figure only stuck around for his own spawn. So, even though she's not really interested in being a mom, she'd still have that thought in the back of her head that guys only stick around if there's babies involved. So if she wants attention from a guy, she'd feel compelled to at least make a baby a remote possibility. Eventually, the .01 failure rate in birth control would snag her a guy for more than one night. Though, she wouldn't realize that's what she's doing, so the fact that she rarely gets contact info would make actually snagging the guy pretty problematic.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

For Sopha, when she comes back from her trip:

Remind me of the discrepancy with Niko's birthdate. Technically, according to SRP, he was born August 19, 2006 and adjusting for the date change, that places him Aug 19, 1991. Now, I seem to recall us discussing an additional leap somewhere in there because of how the rps were being portrayed in SRP and that's why his birthday is Jan 23, 1990 (a year and 6 months difference).

The reason I'm asking is to pinpoint Morgan's birthdate. In SRP, she was born July 12, 1991 (adjusted for our date change). Obviously, this can't be true if Niko was born a month later, so I can adjust for any time difference we agreed on later on. I just don't remember what that was, exactly.

Or Deb, if you remember, you can answer.

The stuff that comes up in Styxx, is Talon, and then whatever book had the bit about him being put in that place where they showed him Acheron's life, and then I seem to recall reading the part where he asked Ash if he could go to Katoteros, but that may have just been me trying to figure out which stuff was overlap.

I will eventually definitely read Styxx and Acheron side-by-side. It's so crazy to read both sides of it. Styxx seemed like such an asshole in Acheron, but then you read Styxx and you realize how much Acheron actually let other people into his head when he was young.

And yes, I hope the TV series and movie stuff actually happens. Though, I have no idea how they're going to do the TV series. At this point, there are sooooo many characters and with every book, the cast list gets longer. So I'm wondering if they're planning to stretch each book into a whole season and see how the ratings go, or if they're going to tackle it some other way.

For Morgan, I figured that's what I would do, so I tentatively gave her a birthday ten months before Niko's. It kind of matches our timeline since if I remember correctly, we added a year to anything written before Nov 2006. If we add six months to anything written within the first month of SRP, I think we should have an adequate timeline, yes?

My mom and I are staying in a hotel so there might be some time now and then, but I don't really know. Just wanted to warn you, though, if I wasn't on.

Okay, so, you ladies know I'm into genealogy, right? I have a program called Family Tree Maker to store all my genealogy information, and it syncs up with Ancestry.com. Whenever there's a records match, I get a little green leaf on that person that shakes.

So, because I always like to have information at my fingertips, I had added our characters to the tree. It keeps it sorted and allows me to look up stuff fast, and I can make reports and such. It's kind of fun.

And now, of course, I am getting shaky leaf matches for some of our characters!! I thought I'd share some of the records for your entertainment.

Rendor Hofman - Jax and Gizi's grandfather. I don't have a birth or death date or place for him, so I suspect this is why I'm getting a leaf.

Canada, Voters Lists, 1935-1980
Name:  Randor Hofman
Residence:  1957 - Cartier, Québec, Canada

Kláris Vargha - mother of Rendor Hofman. Same as above, no dates or places. The matches are always Soundex matches, meaning only some of the information needs to match, not all.

Lubert Family Tree

Genoveffa Lidia Valenti - Chiara's mother and Criss Alero's second wife. I have all her information entered, but she still matched on her name.

Sylvia Anne Crest - Erica Taylor Hofman's mother. I suspect this was picked up because her married name is Sylvia A. Taylor. The search looks for combinations of maiden and married.

Kathleen Johnson - Mistress of Eric Johnson and father of Pete Johnson. So, I get Red Bulletin Magazine (bc it was free and new so why not try it out) and I actually opened it for the first time this month because James McAvoy was mentioned on the cover. When I got to that article, I decided that was definitely the look that Finn would be sporting at Christmas. Since he'll actually be somewhere cold with snow and such.

I've been reading through Tori's files for Drew and somehow had forgotten, or not realized, that he had blue eyes too. So I knew they were going to have a little blondie running around. But it's somewhat humorous to me that they both also have blue eyes so they'll end up with a blue-eyed kiddo, too. Should be adorable. That's a ways off though. They've got to get to the actual baby-having first.

A: It's porn for nerds.

So, upon reading the Announcement this morning, I'm thinking we picked a good time to be interested in switching from adult to mature. Perhaps the Vin/Lena thread should have the airplane portions moved so we can get rid of that thread and go to Mature. I mean, I know I don't always post every day, but I'd hate to have a day where I couldn't post because my access request for Adult games hadn't gone through yet.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

If we're still set to Adult when it happens, then when we next log on, we'll have to go into our accounts, add our birth month and year and then request access to adult games. They're thinking this will be quick, but may take a few hours to get access. Then, when we come into this game for the first time, we'll have to input our birth month and year again, but that part will be automatic, and then we'll be able to do everything we can now.

If we change to Mature, like Denise was wanting to do a few weeks ago, then we don't have to worry about any of that. Nothing will happen. The only thing preventing us from switching to Mature right now is the sex scene with Vin/Lena in their thread. All other Adult material has been removed already into the thread archives off-site.

But if Kyrian showed up tomorrow and wanted to get it on with Kate, she'd punch me if I said it had to be done offscreen. And we don't have to worry about other Rated R stuff, like violence or explosions or whatever. Not that we have a lot of that, but if the time comes to describe the flesh of someone's face melting off, there would be no pesky conversations about whether it counts as mature or adult.

Well, the original plan didn't call for Kate going to Greece now. But I'm flexible. The original plan didn't call for Kyrian knowing anything about all this stuff and I found a way to get him involved. So plans can be fluid.

Also, Nisey, Former Article Subject (hereafter referred to as FAS) informs me that Senator pulled some strings to get him out of prison early. So he gets to have revenge on Kate, increased resources from the Senator, and he gets out early. He says it's definitely worth the risk. And also, he's not supposed to kill her, but when he's done toying with her, he plans on it, despite the Senator's wishes. He may or may not have gone a little crazy in prison.

I'm torn between Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

Sleeping Beauty - in a way, Claudia's been "asleep" most of her life as far as romance. It's only when she meets Keran and kisses him that she "wakes up" to love.  Plus, a bonus is that it gives the MC a mystery to solve when she comes to the kingdom.

Cinderella - other than the dress part, I'm not sure how she fits this? She's never been poor and she doesn't have evil stepsisters or an evil stepmother. And as far as I know, there aren't any mice in the house xD And if I did go with Cinderella, that means I will have to come up with another mystery to solve.

I'm open, though, to either. I accidentally deleted all your texts so I don't remember what you'd said about Cinderella.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

So, when I finally to onto my netbook last night, my writing wasn't on there. I think I have a hard copy of Lark and Flair, and I did have at least really old copies of all the Mansion stuff. But anything else that was in my writing folder was gone.

Now, I swear that I had a flash drive that was decently sized and I may have copied all my writing stuff onto there for "safekeeping"/backup. But I currently have no idea where that flash drive is. Yep. Really safe.

Anyway.

That was probably the largest stash of my writing that I'd accrued ever. When I was in high school and early college, we got a new computer every year, so I lost all my files on a yearly basis and I only have hard copies of things. So that's probably part of why it upset me so much. I'd gotten out of the habit of printing everything because my files felt safe. I don't think I'll make that mistake again.

Ok I was thinking that the Stones still needed to do Christmas day, but as I scrolled through the thread I noticed that you both skipped over Christmas completely. You started off on Dec 23, then skipped to "a couple of days later" (pg 7) (which means they went shopping on Christmas day?). After that, they had dinner and Sonja blurted out her news, then they went to bed. They got up again, discussed turkey bacon, looked at some photos, Sonja freaked, now they're coloring on the floor.

Am I safe in saying that they're actually on Dec 26? 23rd + "couple of days" + "next morning" = 26th?

Just making sure I'm on the same page here. :)

How long has it been since Joseph died?

How and when did Luke and Jenna find out?
How long was it between when he died and the funeral?

Might be more coming. Also, Jenna's parents arranged for a car to take them to Ann Arbor so Luke didn't have to drive. They won't find out until the fishing trip that it was actually Caroline's idea.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Boo questions

When Luke calls Oliver, it's been about 3 or 4 weeks. He's been struggling to deal with it on his own and didn't want to admit that he needed help and it was too much for him. He thought he'd be able to pull himself back together, go back to work, and move on. But it hits him a lot harder than he thought it would, especially since it was a little unexpected, and he can't pull himself together.

He had the heart attack at home and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. He went into sudden cardiac arrest on the way, blood stopped flowing to his brain, and he died.

A family friend named Lucius calls Luke and Drew. He's a police officer in town and is Joseph's best friend - he was notified about Joseph's heart attack when Beth called 9-1-1 and picked up Kyle to take him to the hospital. Kyle and Beth aren't up to it - Beth can't admit that it's true and Kyle can't face it without his brothers.

Three days between his death and the funeral. Drew finds a flight for his family shortly after they get the call from Lucius and they get into town the next morning. He and Kyle end up making a lot of the arrangements- I think Luke sits in with them while they're talking about arrangements but is a little too numb to really contribute. That's where Drew and Kyle end up getting into an argument that escalates into a fistfight. I have a vague idea about what sets it off and I think some of what they argue about leads to Luke's disillusionment with Drew which only makes his depression worse.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

So, I realized this morning that when you two were making the timeline for Drew & Sonja, I wasn't paying attention, and now I'm going to have to rewrite Jess's history again. *grumblebitchmoan* And unfortunately, this time, it means that Jess, Theo, Zach and Drew never meet, unless we can figure out another way.

In the original timeline, Drew came to Sylvan Hollow with Zach when he was a toddler (we didn't do ages back then). I brought Theo (child), Jess (teen), and Kaycee (adult) as three orphaned siblings who were trying to make a go of it in a new small town. Jess met Drew because he was her high school teacher. At that point, Zach was aged up to child so that he and Theo could be friends too. During Drew's time in SH, he also met and fell for Sonja.

This is where things get messy.

In setting up the Stone timeline, the two of you settled on Drew and Sonja meeting in SH as usual, and set the date for 2010 as the time she first met the elder Stones. This places the time they were in Sylvan Hollow as 2008 (Zach was 3 in 2008). You have 2009 in the timeline, which means Zach would have turned 4 while they were there, but that's not a total stretch.

The problem is, that in the current Unbound storyline, SH Jess would have been 12 in 2009. She still would have been a bratty little pre-teen in Pennsylvania playing with her Barbie dolls, going to cheerleading practice and spending Sunday mornings eating breakfast in a sunny little nook with her parents, 5-year old little brother and her older sister. They would have been months away from losing Mr. Valette to a drunken teen driver, which was the catalyzing event to her downward spiral into homelessness and drug abuse.

But now, with it being 2010, Drew's SH days are behind him. He isn't a teacher anymore (it just occurred to me that with the timeline you set for him, he couldn't possibly have been a teacher in 2009 at all) and he's living not-in-Sylvan-Hollow. He won't be a teacher in 2013, either, when Jess is finally 16 and needing a high school English teacher to attach to. And since he's not her teacher, she can't introduce him to her little brother, so he and Zach will never have met either.

There's no possible way that Jess could have ever been in Sylvan Hollow at the same time as Drew. None. So I have to scrap that part of her life and rewrite her again. I don't mind, really, because her history seems to be as changeable as the Mississippi. But without Drew having been her teacher, that means erasing him out of her life as well.

Any ideas?

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

See, there you go. I wasn't paying attention.

So then, the remaining questions are, can Drew be a teacher by 2013 when Jess would need to enter his class? Usually it takes 4 years for a teaching degree (I think? I defer to Tori's superior knowledge on that part), but considering Drew has already gone through college and become an attorney, he has a better-than-average chance of getting a teaching degree in two years. I imagine he wouldn't have to retake a lot of classes.

Or is he already teaching or in the process of becoming a teacher?

If he will be a teacher with a plausible timeline by 2013, then I'm satisfied with that and happy I won't have to rewrite Jess again. :D

Not sure how it is in other states, but here, if he already has a degree, he just has to take a few classes specific to teaching and then he gets a certificate. So I would think that could be done in two years, one if you were determined.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

I just did some research about teaching in Louisiana - it varies depending on the state. In Indiana, you can take the content knowledge test in any subject and be issued a teaching certificate if you pass as long as you have a bachelor’s degree (clearly they don’t hold education programs in a very high esteem - basically, everything I went to school for doesn’t matter to the state of Indiana). In Louisiana, he can become a teacher after entering into a Practitioner Teacher Alternate Certification Program.

Basically, it sounds like he’d be able to join the program and teach while he takes the classes he needs for his license. He’ll be issued a Practitioner License 1 initially. It looks like he’d need to get 21-30 credit hours and he’ll be issued a Level 1 Professional License once his coursework is done.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Q: Where the hell did Deb go? She hasn't even posted in a couple in a couple days?

A: Nathan was sick. He started in with a fever around dinnertime on Monday. Then he developed some hives on his head and torso. Still not sure what was wrong with him. But he was miserable and clingy the entire time. He didn't want to eat much and he slept A LOT. If it were only that, I probably would have had plenty of time to recover from multiple wake ups in the middle of the night and then post. But then when Allen tried to leave for work yesterday, someone had stolen the battery out of our car. So while dealing with the sick boy, I also had to find prices for a battery so that Allen could get an advance on his paycheck, and then I had to find transportation to go get it. Hurray. Thankfully, Nathan's fever is gone this morning and his hives appear to be on their way out.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Because Tori asked nicely, it went a little something like this.

Imaginary Scenario: Drew and Kyle are arguing again, including more offense over Drew's attempts to compliment Kyle and him percieving it as an insult. Sonja gets frustrated and throws her hands up.

"Good Lord, people. Do you need an interpreter? Kyle, when Drew says that you're good at what you do, he means you're good at what you do. Period. There is nothing else. It's not good for a dummy or whatever the hell else you're adding in. You are doing a job that he could never hope to do because he does not possess the required skills." Lifting one hand to be an imaginary sock puppet, she says in a high-pitched voice, "What skills, Sonja?">

"Oh, so good that you asked, Mr. Sock Puppet. Let's start with working legs? Have you ever seen a waiter or bartender in a wheelchair? Me neither. I don't suppose it would work all that well. Then, you have his ability to not hyperventilate when surrounded by strangers. It comes in handy when you have a job that requires one to handle a steady flow of customers, many of whom will be complete strangers. Drew, much like me, is bad with crowds."

"Why is that, Sonja?"

"Oh, Mr. Sock Puppet, you ask all the good questions. Because he was shot. When bad shit like that happens to you, it tends to leave a mark, and make similar situations pretty debilitating."

"I don't know, Sonja. How do you know all this?

"Well, Mr. Sock Puppet, let's not forget, I was forced to beat a man to death with a bedpost and spend a year in prison while the courts decided if it counted as self-defense. I'm not so hot in a crowd, either. Hell, I'm not so hot in not-a-crowd. But we're off-topic here. We're still talking about all the skills Kyle has that Drew does not. There's one more. He's got the fun, cool-kid attitude that makes people want to hang around him. Drew does not have that. I'm not sure if you noticed Mr. Sock Puppet, but Drew's a pretty serious guy. Sure, he might get the paperwork done, but if you want him to crack jokes and smooth over a customer complaint, that's not likely to happen. In fact, if your sense of humor isn't dark enough, you might never even notice he cracked a joke ever."

"You're right, Sonja. He sounds like he would make a terrible restaurant manager."

"Oh, I know it. But you know what he is good at. Fucking paperwork. Hells yes, he can do some paperwork. And you know what special language he speaks? Schmuck. I mean, lawyer. He can speak lawyer like a native. And when he says something is complicated, he doesn't mean 'It's complicated for dummy-heads.' He means it's complicated. Period. Now, let's recap Mr. Sock Puppet. Drew does not think Kyle is an idiot. When he compliments him, he means it legitimately because Kyle is doing a job that Drew could never hope to do with half as much competence. And he doesn't stay away out of some crazy hatred for his family. He stays away because the airport is scary as shit when you have anxiety around crowds. Double-scary when the person you're in love with also has anxiety around crowds, because neither one of you can keep the other calm while freaking the hell out. Any questions?"

At this point in the imaginary scenario, everyone is staring at her a little dumbfounded and then someone, probably Luke or Jenna, says "You beat a man to death with a bedpost?"

Okay. So, to answer your question:

Eniko would get all excited, start baking, and offer to let Maggie stay with them (which would make Ginny grumpy). Daniel would tell her to calm down, but would second the offer of staying there, just in case she'd accept.

Logan will ask how long she'll be home, so he can figure out the best time for him to visit while she's there.

Shawn will be a little skeptical, but will be looking forward to it.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Okay, this is what Nisey sent me so Deb, Sopha and Tori can decide if they want to join! Nisey and I,already have our starting charries, but I'm down to play a million lol:

The idea is they've gotten separated from their respective groups. Leah's trying to get back to hers and so is Olivia, but she also is trying to subtly guide Leah to her group first.

Long ago, Deb and I played in a zombie rp here that introduced a freaky cult that killed people rather than zombies. When we took over the game (the GM vanished), I turned it around to be a religious cult that sprang up around the idea that zombies are God's doing as a way to cleanse the earth and this is the Rapture. We didn't get to introduce it because the group fell apart due to player infighting (sound familiar?), but I still revisit the idea from time to time because I am fascinated by that idea.

So my proposal is that Olivia is one of these cult members and is using the opportunity to 'recruit' (i.e. kidnap) Leah into the cult. Of course, there's lots of zombie fighting and such and idk how much of the Walking Dead canon you want to use but that's my idea. Whatever you want to input, I can mold the cult thing around, if that's something you want to do.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Okay. So, overnight brainstorm. Mostly, I was thinking about the different puzzle pieces in the Kate plot. And you know, I try to live by the whole "Every villain is the hero of their own story" thing. So, here's what I came up with.

-> Perpetrator of graffiti, threats, assault = Timothy Penzag
--> Why is he doing it? Because Kate's article froze his father's assets, removed their family income, and eliminated most family assets, his mother was unable to continue receiving medical treatments for a rare disease (to be determined, if need be). As a result, his mother died. He desires revenge on the woman he blames for his mother's death and wants her to suffer like his mother did before she died. His desire for her suffering is why he hasn't killed her and doesn't plan to.

-> Perpetrator of grand plan and later attempted murder = Nicholas Penzag
--> Why is he doing it? He was only embezzling all that money because his wife had so many medical bills. But Kate came along and ended all that. Not only was his family left destitute, his wife died, and he was sent to prison. While in prison, he received a disfiguring injury that only added to the insult Kate perpetrated against him. As a result, he'll let his son have a little fun with her before he steps in to kill her. Thanks to the bigwig who's going to get him out of prison a full decade early, for "good behavior."

-> Perpetrator of grandest plan and even later attempted murder = Lorenzo Clay
--> Why is he doing it? Kate's articles have been circling him like vultures for several years. As a (insert public office here), he's been using his position to defraud others and get what he wants for over a decade. But if Kate ever puts the puzzle pieces together, she could ruin him. He doesn't plan to let that happen. And if he can take her out without getting his hands dirty, that's even better.

So, what's next? Well, probably nothing for a little bit. I don't believe that Timothy knows where Jack lives. He's been careful not to come into contact with any of Kate's "protectors" so far. He doesn't plan to kill her, but he definitely wants to hurt her for a while more. So I think he'll wait a week or so, for the law enforcement frenzy to die down and then he'll try to figure out where Jack lives. I'm thinking he is maybe dating one of the other fact-checkers, or maybe someone else who works at the paper and that's how he's gotten his information so far. He'll have to be more careful about figuring out who Jack is and where he lives because he doesn't actually want to have to deal with Jack and he really doesn't want to go to jail.

Scenes to write: Jack calling Kyrian about the latest attack on Kate. Kate and maybe Jack meeting with Flannery to give a statement and all that hooey. Kate will want to at least go back to her apartment for some clothing, or to make arrangements to sell everything to pay off her last month's rent so she can move. I don't know. She'll want to tie up that loose end, either way, so a trip back to the apartment.

Different topic.

Do we have a timeline of all the wedding stuff and what needs to happen with various characters before we write the wedding?

At the point where Devon and Hana are, I know that Leigha and Nicco are in town, Mara and Christian are in town, Derrick and Alexis need to be played out arriving, since they have the room mixup that will put them in a room together. Is there anyone else that we need to play arriving before we move on to bachelor/bachelorette party stuff? I'm not sure how the wedding will affect Devon/Hana, so if we're ready to play through the wedding stuff, David is ready to go (he's actually been popping up lately with post-marriage plot suggestions).

Okay. So, new, less overkill, write-up of Kate's plot.

-> Perpetrator of various assaults and future attempted murder: Nicholas Penzag
--> Why's he doing it? Kate wrote an article 5 years ago that lost him everything and put him in jail. And it wasn't even about him.

-> Perpetrator of getting Penzag out of jail early and possible future attempted murder
--> Why's he doing it? Kate's articles have been circling his drain for years, though she hasn't put the pieces together yet. Even now, as a fact-checker, his name keeps coming across his desk. She asks too many questions, and if she doesn't stop, he'll make sure she ends up dead.

We talked for a while and went back and forth on some things so, Nisey, let me know if I got any of it wrong.

On the topic of wedding stuff, Jessa/Shawn need to be moved forward. Next step: Make them fall in love. How? Um. Voodoo?

Gia found out that whatsherface took Jack with her to San Francisco and flipped out. She knew that Trey would leave him the family money, so she decided to kill whatsherface and take over as his "mother" so that she had control over him and his money. He started asking questions about his father when he got older, so when Trey got into the accident, she took advantage and told him his father was dead. She has her attorney ready and waiting so that when Trey dies for real, she will get the rest of the family money. She already took Jack's trust, which he knew nothing about.

Since she has no qualms about stealing and killing, she's been keeping an eye on Jack and taking his money whenever he's out of the country. That's who's stalking him - a hired thug who is keeping track of his finances by breaking in and taking stuff like mail and other financial papers.

Gia is getting impatient, though, and is now plotting to kill the entire Hart family so that she can get the money into Jack's hands and either steal it or get him to sign it over to her before she kills him too.

Okay. So the SRP link wasn't there before, but it is now.If you click on Game Map,it will change some of the options in that menu. Game Website will take you to the wiki. File links has a link to the Character Data sheet and SRP. If I ever get a timeline chart made like Sopha suggested (because it's an awesome idea), I'll add that link in there too. We probably have other google doc links that could go in there, but we have a limited number of links, so we don't want to fill it too full. Anyway. There you go.

Also true. And maybe that's why I didn't put more links in there to begin with. But with the wiki as the Game Website link and then the Character Data and SRP linked in the file links, that covers about 90% of the "Oh, let me look that up" moments.

Well, my computer is back, at least. I can't figure out how to use the Restore disk it forced me to make to get back to Windows 8.1 instead of 8, but I'll figure it out. I'll probably make Allen create another one from his laptop since we bought the exact same laptops so maybe he'll be able to get me a working copy of Windows that way. We'll see.

If not, I suppose I'll just get used to having it this way. All my important files were on OneDrive or Dropbox, so I didn't really lose anything other than Sims files.

Okay. Future stuff questions.

How would Ellie and Nalu have been as parents after the kidnapping? Would they have been overprotective? What kind of rituals would have developed in their family? Would Malie have a bed(room)? Would there be gifts for her at Christmas/her birthday? Hana wouldn't have more than fuzzy memories of anything else, so I'm trying to get a feel for what their family was like for her growing up.

Ellie has been completely haunted by Malie's loss. She used to be a fun, quirky person and while she's retained much of that, it's tempered by frequent bouts of depression and sadness. Mostly around holidays and Malie's birthday. I think for a while, she would have been a stricter mother, maybe still is. The house has five bedrooms (I think, I have photos somewhere of the Sim version of the house, I think on the Unbound zetaboards site), so she would have kept one decorated "just in case" and occasionally sleeps there when she doesn't think anyone notices.

Alabama seems like more of the same so far, but the kids just finished watching Ernest Scared Stupid so it's been a great trip for sharing our kid culture with our kids. Atlanta was pretty, but the gas station bathroom we stopped in was full of anti-white racist graffiti. So that was a little uncomfortable. And our adventure has been complicated by needing to get a prescription for an inhaler for Nathan because he cropped up with congestion on the road. So I had to call his doctor's office, they sent it to a local Walgreens, then I had to look up a Walgreens in South Carolina and have them transfer it there. But at least he'll have it before bed tonight.

But apparently, I can submit it to be reimbursed when we get back. I don't know what the difference is if they pay out before or after but whatever. And so far, we have consistently paid less than the per gallon amount I figured our budget from, so we may end up under budget for gas costs. And also, my cousin had a baby girl yesterday.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Okay. So, no one ever posts for me unless I'm actively on Skype. And when I'm on Skype, no one ever messages me. So at this point, no one will play with me unless I am on Skype, actively watching to see the moment when they sign on, whether that's hours after I get on or minutes. And Skype is a fricken douchebag and likes to tell me people are on or off, at its whim, with no basis in reality, until I actually click on their name to message them. So that means, if I want to post with anyone, I have to sit at my computer, repeatedly clicking on people's names so that I can see an accurate account of their status. And that's not taking into account that Britt and Tori always show as online because they have it on their phones and it never logs them out.

So. In the last month, I've gotten to play for part of one evening. I think it was two or three posts. Meanwhile, you guys don't seem to have any trouble leaving posts for each other. So I'm really starting to have trouble not taking it personally and depending on how any given day is going, my reaction ranges from a crying "why don't they like me anymore" to a pissed off "who the fuck cares anymore." So basically, either tell me what's up, or make an effort. Because I can find other people to write with. Or I can do it by myself. Or I can spend the rest of my life wasted on Facebook. Whatever.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Did you miss the part where I said "public forum"? Everyone can read this and I'd prefer not to have it blasted all over the place. But since you obviously don't give a shit, fine.

Worst offender? The last time we were both on was last Sunday and we played. Then we hit a point where we were waiting for Sopha. Before that, there were *several* times where you were too busy to post anything because you were doing other things. I get it. You're busy, and that's fine, you have stuff to do and I don't have a life. But if you're unable or unwilling to make time to just sit and post, then how is that my problem? I have very limited time and energy now to post. I don't log in every day on Skype- the last time was Wednesday? I think it was Wednesday and I fell asleep on the couch. Other than that, I haven't been on and I haven't posted with anyone until yesterday.

Also, last I checked, the only time I ever post is when someone is online. You should know that. Tori and Britt and Sopha know that because they call me out on it all the freaking time. No, I don't post when no one is online because my creative spark isn't like a fucking light switch that I can turn on and off at will. It takes a lot more these days to even bring up a character because I just don't have the fucking energy. If that's a problem for you, so be it. I've been frustrated with you for years but I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to be "that friend" that bitches about everything. I guess that doesn't matter, though.

I am frustrated as hell because you DON'T have time for writing. I understand why but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. When you are on, you're either working on a church thing or a kid thing or your kids are bothering you or all of the above and you rarely spend more than a few minutes actually doing anything not related to church or kids. Last week Britt even asked you if you wanted to play and you spent 3 hours looking for a face and not a single word was written. In fact, you never even answered her question. And when you do write, it's all short little posts with little substance other than chit chat and I know, I KNOW you're a much better writer than that. Either you don't have the energy or time or whatnot, I don't know, but it's really, really hard to write with you these days.

But that doesn't mean I don't want to write with you or dislike you or think it's all your fault. I don't write these days because I don't have the fucking energy after working all goddamn day. I don't have internet access at work, my phone plays games with me whenever I do try to write on it, and by the time I get home from work, you're all too tired to write or don't log in anyway. But look, if you're too busy to post or don't have it in you or get home too late or go to bed too early (and I'm not pointing in any one direction), that's not anyone's fault and I'm not going to get on a public forum and bitch about it. I can't control what anyone here does or thinks, that's just fucking life.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it's not personal against you, Deb, no matter what you think. But I'm not going to lie and say it's not terribly frustrating that this little group we had going here has disintegrated into sporadic little posts here and there. It's not all your fault, no, but everyone has a hand in it, whether intentional or not.

I'm going to stop now because I'm super frustrated and angry right now.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Honestly, Deb, I'm a little confused as to where all this is coming from. Sometimes, we go a month without posting. We've all been writing together for nearly ten years. We get busy, we don't post for a long time, but we always come back together. ALWAYS. Sometimes, we post more consistently than other times, sometimes we go through dry spells. This has been the norm for YEARS, where is all this suddenly coming from?

The last post see that you made was a week ago, which was not that long ago. I received one post from Sopha after a week or so, and a post from Denise after a week or so. If anything, this looks pretty consistent for what's been happening for a while now. Where is this coming from?

I suppose we could discuss it in a thread in a different group, but given the fact that I already mentioned finding it difficult to get anyone to talk to me on Skype, this is pretty much the only place I felt like you guys would actually see it.

Denise:

This is not about the last time that we posted together. It's about a trend. And hell, it's not even about frequency of posts. It's more about what I have to do to get you to post. If I could legitimately just sit back and think "eh, they'll get to it when they have time" that would be one thing. But if we stop and it's not my turn, I can expect that scene not to be picked up again until the next time I can manage to be on Skype at the same time as someone else.

And I would never say that you don't have a life. You have a less complicated life because you don't have kids. That is not even the same thing. Because you have a friend who seems to regularly do things with you. Like, in real life. The only friends I regularly see are either family or go to my church (which is, naturally, when I see them). And you're right. I don't regularly have time to just sit and post. At least, not at the same time as you. Which is why I get frustrated with the Skype harassment routine. I have time during the day, when you guys are all at work. At night, my husband comes home and wants me to spend time with him because, I don't know, he likes me or something. So when I get a chance to sit and post, imagine how frustrating it might be to have no one else on. Or the people who are on still don't want to post with me. If you're too tired to post, say you're too tired. Don't say "sure, who do you want?" and then end up not posting. Because then that starts the whole cycle all over again and I have to find time to get on at the same time as you and then ask you to play and it doesn't take too many of those cycles before I start to feel like being tired isn't the real reason you don't post.

Denise:
Also, last I checked, the only time I ever post is when someone is online. You should know that. Tori and Britt and Sopha know that because they call me out on it all the freaking time. My creative spark isn't like a light switch either. You complain about my posts being short and apparently shitty, but then you refuse to post unless I'm online to ask you to. So if I want more than one post out of you, I have to come up with something right then, or (see above about the Skype harassment cycle). So you're getting pissed at me for not caring about your lack of light switch muse, then turn around and complain that I don't have one either.

As for the last part about not saying anything about your frustrations, if you don't say anything, how am I supposed to know? So no, that doesn't matter, because I don't know it exists. When I thought there was a problem, I asked about it. The fact that usually the response is "no, why would there be a problem" should maybe be something you look at.
Denise:

Yes. It did  take me 3 hours to find a face and figure out a brand new character. I wasn't ready to jump forward 15 years. I'm still invested in the characters we already have and those stories. But I felt like if I didn't claim a character, you guys would just divvy them up without me and I wouldn't be able to play with you later. So I picked someone. But I didn't flesh her because it still seemed like a future project and sorry, I wasn't sure it was really going to go anywhere. Wouldn't be the first time. When I was done with her, I posted the link for you guys but it was too late and (see above about Skype harassment cycle). I'm not sure what question I never answered. I suppose when I'm on a device that can look open skype, I'll try to look back at the convo and see.

I mentioned the short post thing above.

I know that I have not had much writing time in the past. I've not had much time for a lot of things because I allowed myself to over-volunteer. But in the last year, I've been cutting things out as I get the opportunity. At this point, I no longer have any positions in the church (I don't count sunday school teacher), though I do still have 3 kids. But I'm making an effort and have been for months. The only time you guys have consistently been on is Saturdays, and given it's proximity to Sunday, if I can be on then, I'm usually also working on church stuff. That should get better though because I'll just have less church stuff to do. For the last week, I've even been writing every day. And not just piddly stuff. I've been writing on 750words.com again and making sure that I write a substantial amount. That said, most of the crappy post issue is from feeling like I have to come up with something >right then or suffer the consequences.

Denise:

I do have a response to this part, but it honestly refuses to form into coherent thought for me to write it out. The only things I can come up with are:
1. Maybe we all need to get frustrated and angry so we can make changes because being nice and trying not to hurt each other's feelings isn't getting us anywhere. I think we're all grown ups who know how to love each other even after a fight. So maybe we just need to fight. Get the blood flowing or some shit. Shoving a shoulder back into socket hurts like a bitch but if you don't do it, the arm is pretty much useless. So if it takes yelling at each other to get this shoulder back into its socket, let's fucking yell.
2. I think part of the problem is that we evolved from a group that was posting on a forum while chatting on msn. And we have done a shit-ass job of evolving to match new circumstances. I can text with you all damn day and post for you, on average, once a day, but not if you require me to be on Skype with you when I post. Hell, until my computer gets fixed ($50 I don't have just now), I'm spending half my time connecting to skype on one device and posting on another because my husband gets bitchy if I don't move upstairs when the rest of the family does. But posting from my Kindle makes the short post problem worse, and my netbook won't open Skype anymore so I uninstalled it.

Britt, I think I answered most of your questions in all of that up there. If I missed something, let me know. But I know that I mentioned how I was feeling a while ago and I thought I talked to you about it, but maybe everyone I talked to about it just thought I got over it. I don't know. Or maybe it wasn't you I talked to. I honestly can't remember.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

I readily admit I'm a crappy poster. I always have been and I'm not sure that's going to change anytime soon. I don't post for anyone outside of Skype, generally and it has nothing to do with people "harassing" me via Skype. When I'm not online, I'm doing other things, like cleaning or researching or reading or other things I try to squeeze in time for. When I'm on Skype, I have constant pressure to post (and that's not a bad thing), so boom, post time. I've always been like that. So why is this suddenly a problem and suddenly about only you?

Also, are you aware that I now get home when it's 9 pm for you and 10 pm for everyone else? And that's after I've been standing for 8 hours and at work for 9 and driving for 30 minutes. So by the time I get on, everyone else is going to bed and I'm sure as hell ready to. Writing is the last thing on my mind. It sucks. Sucks for me, sucks for Tori and you and anyone else who wants to get online and write, but it is what it is. Again, it's not about you.

I can't see the posting situation changing for me. I have a very small window of opportunity to post (when I get home at 7 to about 11 when I go do bed) and if I've had a rough day and I'm tired; well, posting isn't going to happen. I know Tori has the same problem. She has work all day and then when she gets home, she's working on work. None of that can be helped. I also know that she asked you to start a Drew and Sonya thread over a month ago and nothing came about. Brittany asked if you wanted to play and you never answered (the question I referred to). Britt, I can only assume has the same schedule, I didn't ask.

My biggest frustration comes from this: all of these things you're accusing us of, you're doing yourself. You've asked more than once who you want, do you want to play, and then nothing. You get distracted with whatever project you're working on or your kids interrupt. THAT is what's frustrating - not the fact that you get distracted or that you're multitasking or that you're a mom - the fact that you are doing the very things you're complaining about here.

As for the last:

quote:
As for the last part about not saying anything about your frustrations, if you don't say anything, how am I supposed to know? So no, that doesn't matter, because I don't know it exists. When I thought there was a problem, I asked about it. The fact that usually the response is "no, why would there be a problem" should maybe be something you look at.

Nope. I'm bringing up these frustrations now because of the extremely hostile post you made after I asked not to bring this up on a public thread. I'm bringing them up because you decided that we're all devils and you're just an innocent bystander. I'm bringing them up because you're pissed off at us for not being the group you want us to be. Yes, I'm fucking frustrated and angry, but mostly because I know that there's nothing about this situation that I can change and also because I'm suddenly being held at fault for how you feel even though none of this is new and none of it is about you.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

*quietly raises hand now that posting is an option again*

I suppose most of my frustration in this whole issue lies in the fact that I can't help but feel like this is a targeted attack since it is in a public forum and it seems like you're catching us all of guard. Like you've been stewing on the issue for a while and chose to continue doing that instead of explaining that there was a problem in the first place. Deb, you're complaining about this "Skype harassment" that you think exists when the truth is that there's no planned attack as far as Skype is concerned. I'll admit, I haven't been great about starting conversations with anyone on Skype in recent weeks. But I also started working full time again about a month ago and I've been dealing with a lot of stress from that end of my life. I'm combating the fact that I'm behind in grading, that my textbooks did not arrive on time for the start of the year, that my 7th grade textbook required that I register and create accounts for all 72 of my students, that my 8th grade textbook still isn't done, all of which mean that I'm back to being barely a step ahead of the student that I'm teaching. And while that might seem like something that's easy to handle for a teacher since it is my job, it means that I now have to spend the three-four hours when I return home from work (at about 6 o'clock when I finally manage to leave the school in the first place) hunting down reading assignments or activities or anything that my students can do to learn in the absence of material that's written and geared specifically for their age group.

Again, I'm not trying to belittle the stress that you're undoubtedly in from children and volunteering and everything else that's going on in your life (trust me, I know how stressful children can be at school - I can only imagine the sort of stress parents have to deal with, especially ones who take on the brave task of homeschooling like you have), but I am asking you to understand that even though I'm online and can occasionally throw a couple of posts Denise's way, they're usually distracted and take me a long time to write. I don't have much time for smalltalk and I don't have a lot of time right now for plotting.

All of that being said, I'm not trying to brush off your friendship or our writing together. But I can't remember the last time that you began a Skype conversation with me. Even if I'm not there, Skype does show me messages that were sent while I was away (since, like you pointed out, it runs on my phone and that usually means that I show up as 'online' no matter what my true status is). Again, I do a terrible job of starting conversations on my own, but it isn't a pointed attack. And we're both responsible for that sort of behavior. It's easier for me a lot of the time if I don't have a lot of conversations and things like that running in the background while I'm trying to do my work to limp through the next day. My husband'll tell you about that all day long - we don't talk much during the week and I get stressed by a barrage of texts from friends or my mother or anyone when I'm struggling to stay a step ahead.

I apologize if we've made you feel unwanted or unwelcome. That wasn't the intention. It was my understanding a while back that we were going to move on to the next stage of Drew and Sonja - I believe that was the wedding - since everyone was a little burnt out on the small talk scene (those are hard for me all the time, stressed or not stressed). I thought I remembered a conversation where you made a comment about starting that scene but when it never fizzled into anything, I think I assumed you were busy and in my stress, I forgot about it. I apologize if that hurt your feelings in any way.

I'm not looking to spark further arguments. As I've alluded to, I'm not sure I can handle the stress of further arguments. The public forum chat about this stuff felt enough like an attack - in all honesty, I get enough of those from parents and a coworker I don't get along with and I can't handle them online as well - but it's clear that it's an issue that you've been stewing on for a while. I'm not sure what sort of response you're looking for but those are my thoughts and my 'excuses' for my behavior. You can take it as it is but beyond that, I'm not entirely sure what to say. As a teacher, my availability is cyclical and is always going to remain that way. I'm sorry about the inconvenience this creates when posting, but I am trying to remain at least somewhat active with it so that I don't abandon you guys like I did when I was in college. I can't ever promise consistent, everyday posting, but I try my best with threads that are active and that's the best I can do currently.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

I'm just going to say that this isn't the first time I've brought this up. Every time I bring it up, I feel like the person I'm talking to says something along the lines of "Well, you're too busy to post with," or "I'm not sure what you're talking about so maybe it's just you." So I'm sorry if hearing that repeatedly makes it feel like it's just me. And I'm sorry that I've been making changes in my life to try to be available for you guys and you can't tell. And I'm sorry that I even brought it up. I'll do better and I'll go back to taking what I can get without complaining.

I don't want other people to feel like they have to post when they don't have time or energy. But I also don't want to feel like people are only posting with me because I bugged them about it on Skype. That doesn't feel like friendship to me. That feels like giving a kid what they want so they'll shut up. And knowing that's not how you intend it, doesn't change the way it seems. Actions speak louder than words. So when I say hi to someone on skype and get nothing back, I don't always know if that's because skype is lying and they aren't really on or because they got up to go to the bathroom, or they saw that it was me and just didn't feel like talking to me. I do apologize for not following through on moving forward the Sonja and Drew thread. It already felt like pulling teeth to get people to post in the scene we were in (which was started up after the previous scene also just fizzled into nothing), so since no one seemed to care that I didn't do it, I just kept not doing it. And I sort of apologize about the future thread thing. But by the time I made her, Britt wasn't around to figure out what we were going to be playing, so I didn't really have any information from which to create a thread for them.

I don't know what the solution is. I just want to feel like people are happy to see me. I don't want to feel like that person they play with because she's been around so long they just don't know how to cut her loose. I love you guys. As sad as it is, you guys are the friends I "see" most often. My offline friends are busier than me and I have shitty transportation, so even if I manage to work out a time to get together with them, I don't always get to follow through on that. Not being able to play with you guys basically makes me feel completely isolated from other people. And I suppose it's not fair to put that burden on you when you all live so far away and have your own shit, but there it is. I have no other friends. So I need you guys.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

This is the last I'm going to say on this because I feel like we're going in circles and nothing is getting resolved. It feels like you're determined to make this an us-vs-you situation when in reality IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. All the frustrations I mentioned were done so solely to point out that you do the same exact things and it has nothing to do with us and everything to do with your personal situation. It's the same with me, same with Tori and maybe the same with Britt (I can't speak for her since I haven't talked to her about this). None of this posting stuff or lack thereof is because we don't like you or aren't happy to see you or don't want to talk to you (I always respond if I'm on. Always.) and at least for me, I don't post because I feel a sense of guilt or whatnot. I post because I want to, because I'm enjoying the story line and the characters, because I am excited to be in the moment and the words are just flowing. When I don't post, it's not because I don't like someone, it's because I mentally can't. I can't dictate how you feel about that. I can't keep repeating the same things over and over knowing you don't believe a fucking word I say. So, I'm done with this. I've said everything I have to say and you can take it or leave it. The passive-aggressive posts aren't going to do much more than piss me off and I really don't have the energy or will to be pissed off, either.

I feel like anything else I say is going to come across to you as an attack or an excuse so I'm not going to keep trying to explain. I'm sorry that our explanations aren't enough for you and that you still feel like we're against you when that's not the truth. I am sorry that you feel ignored.

I don't know what else to say.

I don't know what you think was passive aggressive. I was legitimately attempting to apologize and end the argument. I said how I felt. You all said my feelings were wrong. I attempted to say why it even matters and why I got so upset. I'm sorry if my apology got lost in the middle somewhere. I don't always write as clearly when I'm upset.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

So my life just got ultra complicated. My landlord came over and told us we have to move out by November 1st. She can't afford to keep the house anymore with all the repairs that have to be done so she's selling it. Her dad has a condo, but it's all the way out in West Phoenix, which means an hour drive to and from work instead of 25 minutes. You all probably won't see me online at all during the week after we move. After my trip, I will try my best to post but I can't guarantee it until after November.

We're trying to find a place closer to our respective works but we're striking out so far. Prices here in the valley are insanely high.

Update:

My move-in date has been changed to next Sunday (which is a good thing, trust me). It cost me a little more but since it means getting away from Mr. Stress Trigger weeks early, it's worth it. I'm going to post a little bit all week, probably be on Skype a day or two, but mostly I'll be quiet until the end of the month when I'm all moved in. Thankfully I don't have to wait for an Internet hookup, since I have a hotspot on my phone now. So for the rest of this month I'll be on and posting, though probably not often. After the first, though, I'll be back to a regular schedule.

Okay, so I'm trying to figure out where things went wrong. In both of the threads that I've recently moved forward to a new date, my days of the week have been wrong. I've looked at surrounding years and those days wouldn't have been right for them either, so it's not just a case of looking at the wrong year. Any other theories for how we could have gotten several threads worth of dates wrong? Especially when we take turns coming up with the dates?

When I posted a new scene for Logan,I looked back at the previous date and when I pulled up the calendar, the day was wrong. It was only off by like, a day, so I just put the right info for the new scene and figured if we ever did anything with all this writing, we could fix it then. But then when I went to get the date for the Kate stuff I posted last night, it was off too. The date that was supposed to be a Sunday was actually a Friday. And when I checked the years around it, none of them had that date on a Sunday. So I again picked an appropriate date and ignored it, but I'm concerned that it was off by so much and it wasn't the only one.

Man. I hear you there. Not so much for me (though, I end up being affected), but with Allen's job. The more he works, the easier it is for me to pay our bills, but the less I see him and the more time he spends asleep when he's actually around. At least he's back at general manager again. He could have worked open to close every day and I still wouldn't have been able to pay the bills when he dropped back down to driver. Thank God for our tax refund (though it was originally earmarked for a new vehicle, so now that's a chore and a half).

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Between Netflix and Hulu, why does cable even still exist? We're going to add HBO Now for a few months so we can watch Game of Thrones and Ballers (if they brought it back), but then I'll probably turn it off again until next year. Allen has a subscription for WWE, so he can watch the stuff he'd normally watch on TV, plus all the pay-per-views (did you know they have one every month?). And my mom recently gave me her login info for her Amazon Prime so I could watch a show that she bought. And since then I've been watching Orphan Black on there since its free with Prime and was really the only show I wanted to watch on there when I was considering getting my own Prime account a year ago or so.

I mean, technically, if you go bare bones, you can get cable for like $10 a month. But that's local stuff only. In order to get all the stuff we can watch, you'd be paying over $100/mo and only maybe getting the DVR capabilities. After going straight Netflix and Hulu, I honestly can't stand commercials anymore. Even Hulus commercials (that are about half of what normal TV commercials are) drive me nuts. I just want to watch the stories and not have to deal with a bunch of extra crap to do it. Give me one long commercial at the beginning and I'd be cool with that, for the sake of like, I know you need to make money to provide the stories in the first place. But on TV now, you're getting an almost 50/50 split on show vs commercial and that's ridiculous.

Still here, not ignoring y'all. Since my niece got here, we've been traveling all over, so I haven't had a chance to get online.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Is that the times you work, or the times you'll be available? Just to clarify.

Also, I have a question for everyone. We're working on an escape room and I want to know which option is scarier.

To start out, you're blindfolded and handcuffed and led into the room. When you get the blindfold off, you're in a small dark space. There is maybe some light showing around a window and a door, both are locked. When you use the things in that room to get out, you were in a "shed" and now you're in a "back yard" (these things are in quotes, because it's all just different spaces within the escape room). There are more puzzles in the backyard, to get the code to go through the door. And then surprise! You're not out of the escape room yet. You're in the "living room" of a serial killer and you still have to solve your way out of that space to escape. Here's where the question comes in. There is going to be a 2 ft by 4 ft game of Operation built into a piece of furniture. Is it more scary to have it in the coffee table so that you see it when you first make it out of the backyard? Or is it scarier to have it built inside the couch so that you discover it by pulling the cushions off?

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

These are my work times and includes travel. Also should probably mention that they are AZ time, which I believe is an hour behind Kansas.

Couch. Don't make it easy on them. :D

Okay. I was on the fence about the couch thing. But my grandpa says he thinks he can do it and you guys think it's better. So I'm going to change my vote to pro-couch.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Not sure if any of you are hopping on here these days, but Allen and I are playing a game together these days. So I'm actually getting on rpol and will see if anyone posts. So if you're interested in playing, I'm down for that.

Also, in case any of you were curious about the final decision on the giant game of operation, the couch wouldn't work with the one we had and my brother ended up finding an old deep freeze. So it went in there. Which I think adds a new level of creepiness to it, since the implication is that the bones you're pulling out of it might actually be real bones.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Not sure any of you still pop in here, like, ever. But if you do, I want to apologize. And it may be unnecessary, but I still want to do it because I think it's important to own up to the times when you've inadvertently hurt people.

I read this article a few months ago. https://www.passfailpassfail.c...2i4taw66u62mw8tef342

It reminded me of the argument that I started a few years back. The root of that argument was that I basically expected you guys to write with me without voicing those expectations, or even asking if that was something you guys could do. And I apologize for that. I was completely in the wrong in that situation. I value the friendship of all of you and I abused that friendship because I wanted something and I expected you guys to deliver it. And that was wrong of me. I really hope that guys can (or have) forgiven me. And I hope that when we all have the mental and physical space to get back to it, that we can all continue to write things together for a long time to come (though maybe at this point, we'll have to start new things instead of continuing the old).

I love you guys.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

I'm good here. All forgiven.

I know I would love to write with you all again, but I know how busy everyone is with pets and jobs and kids and new babies and moving and all that, so I haven't asked. Whenever anyone is ready, just let me know, I'm here. New computer means no more locking up and stupid computer stuff and new schedule at work means I can be here on a regular schedule. Let me know.

Re: The OOC: We're Obsessed

Well, I'm getting on RPoL fairly regularly these days. I've been playing a game with Allen on here, so that keeps me coming around. Which means I'm on board with writing here again. I can't guarantee that I can skype to get long strings of posting going, but I can keeps tabs on a thread so it won't be hanging around unanswered forever.
