Apokryphos Cafe and Coffeehouse - The Cafe
"Donald Emmanuel Derring Sr. a.k.a The Hunter. Raised by wealthy socialites James and Darla Derring, young Donald grew up in relative luxury but was an angry, violent child. Sealed records state he was in his first physical altercation at the age of six, where he seriously injured three boys significantly older and larger than him. It appears he inherited the physical enhancements, natural combat aptitude, and berserker like rages of his father. However his abilities were subtle enough to go unquestioned, merely believed to be 'naturally talented'. It is also worth noted several of the altercations were supposedly started by either insults to his parents or in defense of child hood friend Eleanor Van Diemien.
After a particularly violent incident Donald was sent to military school, where the military discipline seemed to teach him to control and harness his temperament and talents. At one trip home he met his future wife, Ellen EngleHart. After he graduated Donald joined the army, highly impressing his instructors both in school and at boot camp. He was recruited into the Rangers and later into Black ops. Here is where he met future Weston Police Commisioner Richard Jordan. Both served in the same squad as Sergeant and Liutenant. Donald left the military at age 26, and soon married his high school sweetheart, Ellen.
Donald began working at his adoptive Father's company, later taking over when James Derring passed away two years later, and Darla six months after that. Two years after seizing control of the company appears to be when he began his career as a vigilante, a full year months before the first reported para sighting. When The Hunter was tracking down a group of kidnappers targeting wealthy women, Ellen was taken by the same group he was out tracking.
He managed to track down the group, but Ellen was killed in the scuffle. Afterwards Donald went into isolation until he was approached by a technopath using the codename Spider. The two formed a partnership, and later a relationship. She was found by one of his enemies, and she was sent away under a false idenitity. Shortly afterwards is where he and the other costumed crimefighters known as the legacy met when they responded to the same incident. They later were publically revealed on live television, and saved the world from a powerful psychic known as Brain.
After defeating Brain Hunter continued his vigilante activities while distancing himself from the legacy, later reconnecting with his childhood friend Eleanor who revealed that Ellen had known Donald was the Hunter, and agreed with it. Eleanor and Donald began a relationship and Spider returned with a baby girl and news that she was dying of cancer. Donald and Eleanor began to raise the girl and Donald retired from his vigilante activities and entered into politics after he was publically outed. Eleanor and Donald later had a son, Donald Jr.
