Re: Dragon and Tiger

The Legacy, he smiles a little sadly when he mentions them.

"Your group did seem to be quite an interesting mix of people.  I am sorry I was not able to meet more of you.  I met Captain Hanson last night, quite an interesting woman.  I am sorry for your loss as well.  I know that feeling.  Complications are most definitely part of this life.

It does seem that these worlds are connected.  Kind of makes me wonder if part of this balance is what brought me here.  Fate is certainly not without a certain sense of humor after all.  Being given that mantle, it's a huge responsibility.  Especially after someone that formerly used it did such horrible things.  Been faced with a situation like that myself, still have no clue why my friend thought it was a good idea to give me this ring."

As he speaks, he motions with his right hand, though it remains looking like a standard silver banded ring with an emerald set at its center.

"This world has a window, somehow, to the one I came from.  My Mentor, the one who traveled all over the world?  He Mastered somewhere in the realm of 160 Martial Arts during his travels.  Melding them all together, he taught myself and others that he brought in to his inner circle to help protect Gotham City.  I do not see myself as a student of any official Martial Art, more the moves he has found work most effectively with the equipment we use.  So, when I say Mentor.  I mean, Batman.  I did not have time to change in to my suit at the museum with the mummies coming to life.  They did not seem intent on giving us a lot of time to prepare."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

"Yes, the Mummies at the Museum....no doubt another scheme, or maybe a diversion," Lucas mused. "Who knows? And as for Batman....I can't say I've heard very much other than urban legends and rumors. He sounds a lot like the rest of us, though maybe a little more....obsessed."

At the mention of Captain Hanson, Lucas' expression seemed to change, as a brief, sad smile came across his lips.

"You met Captain Hanson....how is she? I haven't talked to her as much as I used to. I trust that she is well....or as well as one can be as part of the Weston Police Force."

Lucas chuckled again, as if now realizing the punchline of some great ironic, cosmic joke. "The ring you bear...is there something special about it? Fate does have a unique sense of humor. But....there must be a reason that you're here in Weston, Kevin. Whether it is to help with this Mummy situation, or anything else, I can't really say. But I will say this...I, for one, am glad that you are here. You're an experienced hero that I believe will be a great asset in the days to come. Lin has vouched for you...that's more than enough in my book."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

"She is doing well.  A bit frustrated, I believe.  I suppose being a police officer there are certain, limiting factors, especially with her rank now.  Probable cause.  Search warrants.  Necessary steps needed to promote freedom and justice.  Something everyone has a right to, but there are extreme circumstances that the police have not entirely been able to catch up to yet.  Nor do they have the manpower needed to deal with it.

A biker gang was hit recently, evidence of rotting flesh were found on the scene.  I have a few leads but I have not had a chance to follow up on them, yet.  My Mentor would be less than impressed with how I have been handling things.  In some ways, he would be right but I also think I need to stop listening to him.  As you said, he is obsessed.  But that does not mean his thoughts and teachings should be completely disregarded."

He lets out a slow breath, he had all those earmarks of carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.  He was beginning to learn how to help share that burden again, but there was still that years of training creeping up.

"As for the Ring.  It was special.  The group that wielded rings like this, they were known through out the Universe.  When they showed up, people knew things were going to be alright.  That ended when my Uncle killed a large amount of them when they got in his way, killing hundreds of others with his actions remotely.  My friend...  Kyle... he has been trying to bring that back to the Universe I came from.  Outside of Comic Book readers and Movie goers here on Earth, I doubt anyone in this Universe have ever heard of the Green Lantern Corps.  It is semi-sentient.  Born from a lifeform as ancient as the Universe itself.  The Ring seems to think it has chosen correctly in having me wield it, despite me trying to convince it that it has chosen wrong."

He laughs as his thoughts briefly turn to those he has spoken with in the last weeks.

"I have to admit, I am kind of starting to think.. maybe It is right.  That Kyle was right.  This Universe may never have heard of the Green Lantern Corps yet, but maybe it is time the two were introduced.  I watched helplessly as an alien killed millions, destroyed the city I called home while I was on the other side of the Country.  I do not want to do that again.  Of course, you need to learn to walk before you can run.  Fall and take a hit before you learn to strike."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Lucas nodded, listening intently to Kevin.

"I'm sure that I have probably added to that frustration for Katy. Though she most likely would just brush it off, and casually change the subject. As for the rotting flesh, it sounds like we may be dealing with more zombies or mummies, and the Necromancer who may be manipulating them."

Noticing Kevin tensing up briefly, Lucas continued.

"You're forging your own path, relying on your own instincts. I am sure that your Mentor trained you to eventually become self-sufficient. Most mentors aspire to have their proteges become their equal, and then eventually, surpass them. As for the Ring...I don't know much about what it is...but if it is a sentient object, the choice to choose you to bear it was a conscious effort on its part. You might check into a hero named Darklight, he is rumored to operate in the city of Derrton, and has some similar abilities. Only his ring is made out of black onyx."

At the mention of the Green Lantern Corps, he then sat down. "Can you tell me anything more about this....Green Lantern Corps?"

Re: Dragon and Tiger

As Lucas sits, he does as well.  Listening to the description of Darklight he gives a slow nod.  He had a lot on his plate, but the Green lanterns were never meant to work alone...

"The necklace that was stolen?  It was not stolen for any monetary value, it was power.  I spoke with Lin and she confirmed that theory.  Well, most likely.  It was the Necklace of Osiris, a relic capable of amplifying Necromatic magics.  Captain Hanson also informed me of a tome that went missing some time ago and though the person who stole it was apprehended, the tome was not recovered."

He looks to the ring and rubs his hand faintly, flexing his fingers slowly.  He gives a sad smile as he thinks on the answer, just the memories flooding through his mind.

"When the Universe was created, the first race to come in to existence were known as the Oans.  Their planet, Oa, was located at the center of the newly formed Universe.  They saw it as their duty to be the Guardians of other new life that was starting to awaken, to help that they formed the Green Lantern Corps.  They split the Universe in to thirty two hundred sectors and for each sector they made a ring and a power battery to give to wielder.  A lifeform that did not know fear.  The power batteries were connected to the Central Battery on Oa, you know the saying 'Knowledge is power'?  The Central Battery was the depository for all data the Green Lanterns collected and it was the wellspring for the Green Lanterns power.  It was also the cell of a powerful being known as Parallax.  Ion is the embodiment of Willpower, the emotion that Green Lanterns use to focus their ability.  It seeks to nurture and gains strength by building up.  Parallax...  Fear...  well it is like Franklin Herbert wrote.  Fear is the mind killer.  Fear consumes and while it gains power in doing so, it has to keep consuming.  Parallax consumed entire worlds before the Oans were able to imprison him, and remove him from the record.

Parallax was imprisoned until my Uncle freed him and was possessed by him."

He pauses there, for the first time he was able to call Hal his Uncle without rage overwhelming him.  He did quiet when he spoke about him, but it was also like he was really listening to this story for the first time.

"Uncle Hal killed thousands of his fellow Lanterns that were trying to stop him from getting to the Lantern.  Only the Oans knew what was imprisoned there, the other Lanterns only knew that he was going against the orders of the Oans.  That he could not be allowed to enter the Central Battery.  He was wanting to get enough power to resurrect the eight million people who lost their lives when Coast City was destroyed.  But the fear he was feeling at that moment, it was a dinner bell to Parallax."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Even with Lucas' various experiences, the tale of the Green Lanterns Corps formation was fascinating.

"That....that is quite the story, Kevin. I haven't been involved in anything of an interstellar nature, at least not much. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if our mutual friend Lin knew about the Oans as well."

He began to ponder on what Kevin said about the Necklace of Osiris.

"I wonder...you mentioned that the Necklace of Osiris. And a tome. My experience is that most of these magical item sets can potentially come in sets of three. Perhaps there may be one more item that this person, whoever they might be, needs to obtain to achieve their goal."

Suddenly a rectangular golden portal appeared out of nowhere and out of it stepped Ethan Sharpe, immortal, DPA Director, and adventurer extraordinaire. He had a manila folder in his hand, and a look of professional urgency on his face. He gave Kevin a nod. "Hello Mr. Jordan."

He turned back to the owner of the Dojo. "Lucas, we need to talk. Warrior and Chimera have escaped and it's reasonable to assume they might be coming after you."

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "There are a pair of parahuman serial killers on the loose, we know they're headed here, and you're the one who put them away. I think that is more than enough for one afternoon Champion. It's already been on the news, have you not seen it or are you still doing the whole 'angsty death wish' thing? Because the Champion of Light dying in a personal battle and not one in the name of his cause can bring consequences, so it's not just about you."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Lucas could feel the anger start to well up inside of him at Ethan's questioning demeanor. Focusing himself, he took a controlled breath as he did his best to keep his emotions in check.

"I was at the Museum, Ethan. Doing my best to remind myself of the mission that I've been entrusted with since I died the first time. Mr. Jordan," he said, gesturing to Kevin, "has been a helpful asset. He may have not intended as such, but it is a welcome side effect. And no, I've already spoke with Don and Zeke in regards to my time in the darkness."

He then began to put his shoes on.

"Do you know where Warrior and Chimera are now?" he asked Ethan.

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Ethan noticed the anger behind Lucas' words and gave him a stern but patient look, the kind that looked out of place on a face as young looking as his. "Lucas, I'm not Malcolm, I'm not a mentor looking to turn you into the 'best hero you can be' or some nonsense like that. I have a job to do, a cosmic role to play, same as you. If you are going through personal issues that is neither my business nor my problem, though I am glad things have improved. I could just as easily put you under surveillance and wait for them to approach you. But you deserve to know what we know, and you were the one to stop them last time."

He takes a moment to shift gears then his demeanor returned to the proffesional charm he usually held.  "We believe they're still en route, but we don't have an exact location at the moment. They escaped during transfer to a psychiatric facility, one that specializes in parahumans, they were hoping to learn from them. With parahuman psychology still a budding field parahuman serial killers are still a rare opportunity for them.

Warrior managed to slip his restraints, apparently the psionic dampeners in the vehicle were just weak enough for him to use his muscle memory and was able to learn the workings of his restraints by watching the guards. Once he got those off, his healing factor and superstrength were no longer repressed and was able to cause the car to go off the road.

They escaped into the woods nearby, and stole a car at a roadside motel about 25 miles away. We believe Chimera formed a body to carry both her unconscious form and warrior, but ran out of energy, hence the car. This means she would need to feed and while animal protein works just as well as human, she needs large amounts, they have no money, and she's never been particularly discerning before.

They abandoned the car two towns over, and this is where we lost the trail. Seer was able to connect briefly, was able to get impressions of Weston, a plan, and a feeling of revenge. Unfortunately the distance, the fact that they both have mental based powers offering them some resistance to telepathic probes, and being unfamiliar with her subjects, worked against her, and she has been unable to re-establish contact."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Despite his relatively relaxed posture from his seated position, Kevin moves to a standing position that seems to defy gravity.  He was expecting the potential of trouble at the museum or just needing to react without time to change to his costume.

Something he had decided not to let hinder him again after the undead attack as well as continued presence and threat.

As Ethan walks through the shimmering -yellow- doorway however, he calms just as quickly though remains standing.  The faintest glimmer of emerald energy started to manifest in to a phantasm humanoid form but fades as quickly as his mind and body calms, before any detail could be formed.

Returning the nod he simply listens as the two talk for a bit.

"I am unfamiliar with them and just as unfamiliar with this world.  Still, I would hope my studies at the University would still help me out in unfamiliar territory.  Revenge and plan are excellent starts."

An apologetic look is offered to Ethan as Kevin realizes that he is playing catchup with both him and Lucas.

"That Lucas first captured them, it does make sense that would be after you.  But, how much information can be found about you from the movies?  Hunter and Hotwire seem to have taken a very public stance and opened themselves to public knowledge as to who they were...  But what of Dragon Fist?  If they do not know who you are...  The Museum itself could prove an excellent target.  I believe it was an early base of the Legacy?  Short of that...  the newest movie...  is that still being filmed or close to release?  Other than that, is there any significant events either past or current coming up to celebrate the Legacy?  If they are wanting revenge, they will potentially need to get attention."

"The movie...while well meaning, doesn't get all of the facts right," Lucas said. "Dragon Fist, on the movie, is played by an actor known as Jet Li. I've done my best to not let the portrayal of myself on screen get the better of me."

He pauses to consider the theories that Kevin proposed. "There's nothing I can think of at this moment. But the fact that they have a plan...or at least a semblance of one does concern me. They work very well as a tandem, indeed they have been downright deadly. The Museum would be a likely target....I also considered that maybe the Above And Beyond Agency would be another considering that was where The Legacy was first formed."

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Ethan handed Kevin the folder. "Here's what we have on them. I came prepared."

The folder contained a file on each of them.
Kristine Clydales (Formerly Kristine Marsh)(a.k.a. Chimera)
Age: 30
Sex:F
Powers: Kristine possesses the ability to create bodies out of psionic energy and project her consciousness into them. These bodies are creatures of her own imagining usually hybrids of various animals hence the media's nickname of "Chimera". Creating the bodies takes energy and she requires large amounts of protein to compensate, which she can eat in either her original or psionically created body.
Psych: Kristine is the brains of the operationa, possessing a cooler, more calculating nature than her husband. She possesses at least above average intelligence, but has not cooperated with any attempts at testing. She appears to posses no physiological need to consume human flesh but rather eats her victims to conveniently get rid of the bodies, the fact that her first victim was her father may be the reason for the lack of distaste in doing so. Like Dustin she appears to lack empathy and display the symptoms of antisocial personality disorder, with the notable exception of her husband.
History: Kristine's mother died during childbirth, and from a young age her father groomed her as her 'replacement'. She grew up in fear of him, cleaning the house, cooking, and other such tasks, when she did not meet expectations she was beaten. When she was 17 some incident seemed to set her father off and he began beating her worse than ever before, apparently attempting to kill her. Dustin intervened and both their powers activated simultaneously.
Together they killed her Father, disposed of the body, and took off in her father's vintage cadilacc. To the rest of the world it simply appeared they had all dissapeared. The pair headed across the country, killing as they went, till they arrived in Las Vegas where they were married. They continued traveling until reaching Weston where a string of dissapearances had Captain Richard Jordan enlist the help of Dragon Fist and Mirage. Together they tracked the pair down and captured them. The two heroes spoke at the trial and an agreement was reached that they would serve their time together until they could safely be moved to a psychiatric facility. They have been model prisoners ever since.

Dustin Clydales (a.k.a. Warrior)
Age:30
Sex:M
Powers: Dustin possesses Level 3 Superhuman strength, a level 2 Healing factor, The ability to psionically create weapons capable of cutting even the hardest of metals and effective even against those with enhanced durability, and muscle mimicry.
Psych: Dustin is the more impulsive of the two having quite the temper, but tends to follow Krissy's lead. He is fiercely protective of her and both are extremely dedicated to eachother, he mostly lets her call the shots, following her plans. Though not quite as intelligent as his wife Dustin shows a remarkable resourcefullness and is a clever fighter, likely gained from spending his childhood fending for himself.
History: Dustin's mother was a heroine addict and he was mostly left to his own devices, left to survive on his own. He met Krissy at school but only watched her from afar at first, he had followed her home, hoping to confess his feelings when he found her father beating her (see other file for continuation)

Ethan turned to Dragon Fist. "The Museum would make sense, it was still your hq when they were captured, that's another thing to keep in mind, they've been in the Honeycomb for ten years, and we don't know how much they've  been able to catch up. They could be running on outdated information."

"But they have to be stopped."

He then observed Kevin as he perused the folders. "Look Kevin...I have no right to ask you for any help. But two against two would make better odds, especially against the likes of Warrior and Chimera. Do you think you would be willing to help see this situation through with me?"

"There was an incident last week with a guard, no one seems to have gotten a good look at what happened but, apparently he was putting restraints on Krissy  so they could take the pair to the yard and she bit his nose off. The two were both put in solitary, and this was the first time they have been separated the entire time they have been incarcerated."

"It certainly does not justify their actions, but I do understand what being separated from the only person that matters to you in the world can cause.  But this does not seem to be the same situation."

He speaks a little slower than usual as it is clear his mind is also else where as he sits back down.  Setting the files down on the ground and carefully spreading them out, he pulls his cellphone out and places pressure on a few certain spots, allowing it to flip out in to a small tripod.

"Alfred; Slipstream.  Also, bring up a map of the surrounding area, priority towards where Chimera and Warrior were being held.  Highlight that location as well as where they escaped, stole the vehicle from and where it was located."

A small hologram springs to life as he speaks, hand reaching out towards it, shifting a few times.  His mouth moves wordlessly for a few brief moments as he thinks.  His speech returning to a normal speed as he focuses a bit while waiting for the information to actually load up.

"Director Sharpe, you did say you believe they are still en route?  I agree that in this situation, going after these two together would be in our best interest.  However if they are still en route, it may be a while until they reach Weston, let alone the Museum.  If that is even their target.  While Warrior may be able to quickly acclimate to using his abilities again, it is difficult to tell what strain a decade of incarceration has placed on Chimera.  I doubt they allowed her to intake the amount of protein during that time needed to create these constructs of hers.  Since she needs to feed, while they are focused on getting here they may take it somewhat slow.  While they may look to see if she can feed on a herd of livestock unnoticed, they may simply settle on doing so to a secluded household.  While it is unlikely we could find the same spot they choose to rest in this scenario, I am not comfortable with simply waiting to see when they arrive in Weston.  Fortunately the Osprey is capable of Super Sonic flight when the need arises."

He actually smiles a little as he continues to look at the map.

"And if need be, hopefully a new friend will be willing to help."

"The Osprey is a prototype based on future tech that we were visited by.  Between what we observed of its handlings and the best technology Wayne Enterprise and LexCorp had to offer.  It was designed for aggressive handling at low altitude in Urban Centers.  My suit is based off that same technology as well."

A beat.

"Director Sharpe, may I see footage of the events between Krissy and the guard.  As well as see his file?"

Looking over her profile, something just seemed, strange.  Ten years without any incident and now biting a guards nose off and escaping.

"I am speaking with my friend now, I am sure she will help.  And she can get us there faster as well as help search other locations I am sure.  Some should stay in the city though, this is a needle in a large haystack situation.  We still should look and be ready to fall back if they get here before we find them."

"As far as we still know yes. They'd be about a days straight travel away, so not terribly far but we don't suspect them to be going at full speed.'

Ethan pulled back his sleeve, revealing a device on his wrist. He fiddles with it a few seconds before it projects a holographic screen in the air, displaying the footage.

Dustin and Krissy sit atop a double sized prison bed, lounging casually, when two guards approach the cell door. Both inmates stand up and take places in front of the door, it's a bored practiced movement like they've done it dozens of times before. Each guard takes a pair of cuffs and steps behind one of the inmates. The guard attaching Krissy's cuffs has his back to the camera, he steps behind her and moves the cuffs to her wrists, there is a slight pause and she spins suddenly viciously biting the guards nose off. Dustin starts to move toward Krissy and her guard when the uninjured corrections officer presses a button on his uniform and both inmates fall to the floor.

After watching the film Kevin's keen detective instincts feel like there's something wrong, something he's missed.

A second display show's the injured guard's file. John Blake, 23, raised in an upper middle class family, went to the university of california on a football scholarship in criminal justice. Was being scouted by proffesional teams when he was injured during his senior year. Has been working at the honeycomb three months. A DUI on his criminal record.

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Kevin's jaw clenches just a bit.  He wants to ask Ethan to play the video again, he was even recording it so he could watch it again at his leisure.  However that may be an exercise in futility.  There was really only one way to find out what happened during that few second pause.

He turns to look at Lucas, even as his hands press a few buttons on the phone.  Using their last known location and Weston to create a radius, a 220 degree area of the map is highlighted.

"This is not entirely my training kicking in.  While if conflict is unavoidable we both should be there, having you and I go in together will escalate things.  I am not excusing their actions.  They are escaped prisoners that need to be taken back in to custody.  We need to speak with them first.  Unofficially.  The timing, the actions before.  This may not have started as an escape but something put Krissy in to fight or flight mode during that pause.  And she was being restrained which left only one option.  Dustin moved towards her, ignoring his own guard.  For two people that do not want to be separated, it was an action they had to know would cause just that.

Let me talk with them, first.  Try to de-escalate the situation."

He looks towards Ethan and Lucas at this, he realizes the Department may be looking for them, too.

"If you find them first, I will back off unless backup is needed.  The person that makes contact with them needs to be relatively alone, trying to talk to them.  Physical numbers being present will make that difficult."

As he speaks, his hands are still working.  Plugging in search parameters.  Locational awareness allowing him to do so.  The map updates as he does so.  The whole area is highlighted in blue while smaller areas are highlighted in green and locations are picked out like purple push pins.

"They clearly have not got to or past Weston City, but there is always a possibility and they could have moved on if we do not find them.  The green areas are livestock farms or areas with an abundance of wildlife.  The purple points are cabins, secluded dwellings, that currently show no one renting them.  They will need the basics.  Shelter and especially for Krissy, food."

There's a few beeps and a portion of Weston zooms up out of the map, near where they are with a small red blip a few blocks away.

"Alfred, a pseudo-AI I helped develop, has the Osprey waiting for me.  I should get going.  What is a good way to get in contact with you, Lucas?"

Re: Dragon and Tiger

Kevin exchanges information.  Closing his phone back up and slipping it in to his pocket.

"If I need back up, I will not hesitate to call.  Miss Adventure will be able to get you there quickly, I will just need to know where to find you, Lucas.  I of course will not use your real name."

He waits long enough for Lucas to answer before leaving.  He figures Ethan's people will be able to get there quickly enough on their own power for extraction.

With that he'll slip his shoes back on and make his way out of the dojo.  Slipping in to a back alley he'll go about a block before climbing a fire escape and entering the waiting craft.  With that he'll take off towards the location he gives to Miss Adventure as he changes in to his suit.

Re: Dragon and Tiger

"Very well, Kevin," Lucas said. "When this is all over, we will have to continue our exchange of information. I hope that this can be resolved peacefully, but I will remain available in case things go the other way."

It didn't feel right, being on the sidelines for the moment, especially with it being two enemies of The Legacy. But Kevin possessed a wisdom that Lucas had rarely seen. And inside he began to wonder: if Kevin had this plethora of experience, where had he been during the formation of the Legacy, as well as all of the various battles and events that took place?

Only time would contain the answer to that question, but that would be for another time.

"Good luck Kevin," Lucas said.
