Hunter parked in a dark alley nearby before making it to the nearby roof. Tying a rope to a chimney he loaded an arrow with rope tied to it inot his bow, firing with uncanny accuracy the shot lands in a second story window. He then rustles in his pack for supplies.

He then leaped out the window and flew skyward, evading the police with any luck.

Inside, Dragon Fist hoped that Hunter would be okay. He didn't want to see him go to prison, but the escape may have been the last straw. Hopefully Captain Jordan wouldn't press charges, but who could say?

There was still so much happening at the moment...

Re: Weston Museum

-- A Brand New Day? --

Mirage tapped send on her cell phone and put it away.  She smiled at hearing Lucas' message.  He was such a gentleman.

"Now where were we?" She asked, her smile becoming more predatory as she looked back at the hall.

Mirage was seated on the edge of a sculpture, her long legs crossed demurely at the knee and her long slitted skirt falling open to reveal long legs wearing thigh high leather boots.  In front of her were three men and one woman all dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, and lying on the floor moaning.  The silly group had thought to rob the Museum of some of the more priceless works of art.  Too bad for them that Mirage happened to have been in the area.

The fight had been acceptable.  These were just normal thieves after all, armed with hand guns and a few knives.  They hadn't stood a chance and Mirage knew it, so she had toyed with them for a little while.  Beating them all up so soon would have been very unsatisfying and Mirage was looking for a good fight.  She'd spent most of the night prowling the streets and beating up criminals in an attempt to take her mind off of her real enemy.  Someone that she thought that she'd finally gotten out of her life only to have him return.

Four?  Weren't there more than four thieves?

The club cracked across the back of Mirages head, knocking her wide brim hat off and causing her to pitch forward.  The last thief had actually managed to sneak up behind her with a club.  Mirage had barely taken a step and turned before the club slammed across her jaw.  Pain shot through her face and she disappeared in a flash of crimson smoke.

Damn. That really smarts. She thought, reappearing on a beam in the ceiling and rubbing her jaw.  Mirage could taste blood.  She'd been so distracted with thoughts of Lucas that she'd gotten sloppy and that serves her right.

"A very rude way to treat a lady, darling." her voice echoed throughout the hall.  "A lady's face is her pride after all."  Mirage let the thief stew on her words for a moment, watching the man looking about in all directions with his club at the ready.

When he finally looked up, Mirage was already flying towards him with a predatory look in her eyes and flashing crimson daggers in her hands.

It had taken some time to travel, but Adrika soon arrived in Weston, still wearing her traditional clothing. She came here with a sense of purpose. A gathering needed to take place....a gathering of Champions past and present, and of future defenders and heroes.

She made her way through the museum, briefly glancing at the place where The Pitiless was once displayed. Such a powerful artifact out in the open caused some great concern. But that was not her reason for being here.

No, that reason would make itself known, all in due time.

But she knew that she had to be discreet.

Soon, she ducked out into an alley, and a green light surrounded the woman. A second or two later she re-emerged, now wearing a jade-colored mid riff top (bikini-ish) with a high collar and bikini bottom, a ninja-type mask, and jade knee length boots.

Soon, she made her way back out onto the street, making her way towards the evil that she sensed.

Kate appeared outside the Museum in a haze of purple smoke, wearing her customary trench coat and combat-suit and grimacing something fierce. Cryptic, eh? she thought to herself. Good. Let Lucas stew for a bit. Not only was she annoyed, she didn't quite know how to take becoming a mother almost overnight, to a daughter from the future, no matter how impossible it seemed.

Leaning against a nearby building across from the museum, Kate waited for Lucas and Helena to arrive, quietly mulling things over in her head. She had a daughter? And with her now-boyfriend, no less? Of course Kate wanted to get serious with Aaron, but she hadn't mentioned anything, and neither had Aaron.

Kate didn't want to think about it. She'd have words with Lucas and Helena, though she'd most likely never live it down, once they got to that 'but it's funny though' stage.

Still trying to reign in her thoughts so they weren't so blatantly revealed to Mirage, Psyche disappeared, fading from view with no hint of smoke or haze, reappearing behind the thugs. The best thing about having something that wouldn't get off your mind, especially if you were psychically empowered, was it almost literally became a weapon.

Sending several blasts of telekinetic energy barreling towards the thugs, Psyche casually conjured up a mask around her face. Of course, the illusion made her look like a female Sub-Zero, but anything with the words smoke and grenade together usually meant bad things for the lungs.

The car with no plates would be the faster of the two, so Mirage decided to go after that one.  She disappeared in a thick billow of crimson smoke and long skirts, teleporting right on to the hood of the fleeing car.

There was only one way that she could think of to stop the car and avoid causing any collateral damage to other drivers on the rode.  She just hoped that it wouldn't hurt too much.

OOC:  Mirage is going to try and teleport the car someplace safer, like an alleyway or a nearby body of water.  Seeing as how it's a quick reactive move, she might not be all that successful.  I'm expecting her to take the car into a wall or something but I'll leave it up to you GM's.  :)

OOC:  Mirage is going to try and teleport the car someplace safer, like an alleyway or a nearby body of water.  Seeing as how it's a quick reactive move, she might not be all that successful.  I'm expecting her to take the car into a wall or something but I'll leave it up to you GM's.  :)

  The cat, it's passenger, and Mirage all teleported, but it definitely wasn't a danger to other drivers now.  They appeared twenty feet in the air, and dropped into the waters of the river as the car's wheels spun madly without anything to give them traction.  Creating a tremendous splash!

That worked out well, Mirage thought as she brushed water from her eyes.  Now that the car wasn't swerving about, she was actually able to get a solid footing on the hood.  She crouched on the hood, resting a hand on the cars windshield while a crimson coloured war hammer appeared in her other.

"Now then, Darling.  I believe that you and I have a conversation coming up." she grinned.

Re: Weston Museum

Dragon Fist stood on the roof on the opposite side of the museum, his mind awash in introspective thought. Up until now, he had alienated most of his friends, going on a crusade that left only broken bodies in his wake. Lashing out seemingly at friend and enemy alike, he had torn through various ranks of the criminal underworld, letting them know the ferocity of his namesake. Fear had seemed to rule, and Dragon Fist seemed to like it.

Arguments with Lin....with Don....Hotwire...everyone he knew and associated with....they just didn't seem to understand. They didn't understand the losses he had suffered. Friday. Mirage. The once seemingly unbreakable Dragon Fist broke under the emotions of his all-too human self. Guilt. Anger. Sadness. His fists and feet knew nothing but bloodied noses, broken arms and legs. They knew the scent of fear. And Dragon Fist seemed to almost revel in it.

Until...

On one of his rampages, a young Hispanic boy witnessed the beating he was levying on an arrogant street tough. The boy muttered but one word softly..."DIABLO"....and suddenly it seemed that Dragon Fist's senses...everything everyone had told him....seemed to echo through that young boy's voice. The voice seemed to hit his emotions like a sledgehammer, and he immediately relented. He needed to think....to reevaluate....to figure out what to do next. The museum was not far away.

And so he crouched, lost in a sea of his own thoughts, as he looked down upon a part of the city that he called home, wondering where his path would take him next.

Re: Weston Museum

The Weston Museum was hosting one of the largest showings of Egyptian artifacts that was currently touring the world.  The collection contained millions of dollars worth of treasures from a half dozen newly discovered tombs.  It also boasted the largest number of intact mummies of any collection outside of Cairo.  The show opening had been  attended by many of Westons celebrities and social elite, but the crowds that now filtered through the exhibition hall were no less numerous though not quite as famous.

Security for the showing was tight, not surprising given the value of the exhibit.  Guards watched every door, searched through bags and purses at the main entrance, and kept a watchful eye on patrons as they moved about the valuable collection.  They were looking in the wrong places.

A young girl ran up to one of the display cases and pressed her face and hands against the glass.  "Cool."  she said in an excited tone.  Her eyes swept over the ancient remains as if she were looking at a selection of ice cream.  She turned to her approaching parents and gestured excitedly, pressing a finger against the glass.  "Look Mommy, the mummies even move."

"Don't be silly, Abbie."  The woman said, finally catching up to her daughter.  "The mummies don't.."  her words were cut off as she watched the desiccated corpse raise its arm.  "...don't...move..."  Her eyes went wide and she instinctively reached for her daughter.

A second later, a shattering of security glass preceded a loud scream.  One scream lead to another, and shouts of panic, as the ancient inhabitants of Egypt rose from their places of rest, easily breaking through the glass encasing them.  The exhibition hall erupted into a chaotic, panicked mass as the now restless dead began to attack those closest.

It was another long, incredulous minute, before one of the guards, surprised by the event, managed to put in a cal for assistance.

Lost in his reverie, Dragon Fist took a random look inside the museum. Seeing people began to run piqued his curiosity. The screams of the many innocent denizens inside snapped him to almost immediate attention. Maybe the museum was promoting some sort of extracurricular activity to promote the showing of the Egyptian artifacts.

"Oh hell, I hope this isn't some sort of publicity stunt," he muttered to himself as he soared on his wings closer to the museum.

As Dragon Fist soared closer to the front of the museum, he could see a stream of patrons rushing through the narrow front entrance.  The entrance, with several of its doors locked in order to control the flow of people into the museum, was inadequate to allow the large number of people trying to get out.  One of the locked doors shattered as someone crashed through it. The individual, bloodied by shards of glass, tumbled down the front stairs.  Several others lost their footing and tumbled down as well.

Dragon Fist could see one of the fallen individuals get kicked about as fleeing patrons stepped over them.  If this was a publicity stunt, it was turning out to be a very dangerous one.

Antoinette was just about to enjoy the museum when this all broke out. Seeing people panic, she knew she had to switch over to her alter ego. With people panicking, it was actually a simple matter to manifest her costume without anyone noticing. Not that that mattered too much to her.

Seeing Dragon Fist help out the one who was getting run through the kicking machine, Lifelight puts her forcefield up and hurries over to the other one who got scratched up by glass and directs healing energy at him to close his wounds so he can continue fleeing with the rest of the crowd.

As soon as she saw that he was OK, Lifelight flies over the people towards the inside of the building to go to where everyone is fleeing from.

Never fear, Miss Adventure is here!  At least, that's what Mittens wants to say while standing in a dramatic heroic pose, cape billowing in the wind.  But what would be the point with nobody being able to hear it over the noise of a panicking crowd?  Ah well.  At least she can help a little with crowd control by portaling out whatever fallen people are still in danger then forcing the locked doors open.

I can only guess that the reason for this panic is an armed thief started shooting, she's thinking to herself, Only one way to find out.

While she appears to walk on thin air over the crowd in order to get to the source of the panic, Mits announces to the crowd with her trusty megaphone, "PLEASE ESCAPE IN A SAFE MANNER, AND REMEMBER: TRAMPLING PEOPLE IN YOUR WAY IS A CRIME.  THERE ARE SECURITY CAMERAS WATCHING YOU, AND ANYTHING YOU DO ON TAPE CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU IF YOUR SHOVING IS THE REASON THE FALLEN CHILD IN FRONT OF YOU WINDS UP CRUSHED TO DEATH."

Though 911 is speed dialed, she makes it a point to not open a portal to the police station this time.  That didn't turn out for the best when the Yokai Zords attacked.

One of the nice things about his choice of work, he had very open hours.  Tonight, he was taking a break from both jobs.  Something his mentor would have frowned at, but it was something he needed just to keep his mind clear.  Of course, he knows his primary occupation never really gets a day off so he stays relatively prepared.  Nothing that would set off alarms, physical at least.  There were ways to hide masks, even from security scans and the like.  Other ways to help conceal your identity and give some protection to yourself.  Sturdy jeans and a bomber jacket fill out his choice of attire for the night.  Almost invisible to the eye was a hood stuck in the jacket.

He wasn't in the Egyptian exhibit, but it would be difficult not to hear the commotion coming from it.  Moving with the evacuation he watches for a moment to quietly slip away, ducking into a Maintenance Closet where he starts slipping out the hood and donning a small domino style mask that covers down and disguises his jaw line.  Taking out his phone, he slips out the SIM card and withdraws a small microchip and tiny speaker to help disguise his voice, clicking it in place and tucking it beneath the cover of his hood.

"Xing Chao, think I heard something about the mummies were moving.  Are you sensing anything?  Working on figuring out if we are dealing with the arcane, technological or people dressed up as a distraction for a heist."

As he speaks, he arms himself with what little he can find.  Grabbing a decent amount of rope used for crowd control and tying it through a wrench and making a quick knot on the other end for a make shift manriki-gusari.  Also settling for a little good old fashioned American diplomacy, picking up a sturdy looking crowbar.

Outside the Museum

The woman that Dragon Fist 'rescued' was bleeding from a cut to her head, and she pressed a hand against it.  "Someone was attacking people inside."  the woman said, wincing.  "...maybe Terrorists...."

Lifelights powers heal up the cuts and scrapes that the man had suffered when he crashed through the glass door and he thanked her, once he figured out what had happened.  She flies up towards the museum entrance but it is still crowded with people fleeing through it.  She would have to fight against the current of patrons or perhaps make her own entrance by breaking through another door or window.  It's not as if anyone would notice in the chaos if she did.

Mittens calls 911 and by the time that they hang up, sirens can be heard in the distance.  It takes a moment for people to actually respond to her words, though the wide stairs leading down from the museums main doors help to spread the panicked folk out a bit.   She might almost have the crowd under control when the Matt arrives.

The panicked people spreading out from the front doors of the museum are already in a heightened state of 'scared of everything' that Matt arrival, combined with his appearance, causes those near him to scream and run away in different directions, sometimes colliding with people still fleeing from the museum.

Re: Weston Museum

  The real tragedy is not the fear of the unknown™ Oh no.  The real tragedy is that this marks the first time anyone has been frightened by a whimsical slide whistle sound.

  Who could have ever guessed the one time Matt goes out of his way to make his sudden arrivals less abrupt, is the time people find his arrival overly abrupt.

  "You know, that would be hurtful if not for the fact they are literally the first people to have a negative reaction in all the years I've been like this." He's sure they will share the much more common trait of not suffering so much as a bruise on his account, but not like he advertises that perk of his Influence offered to bystanders-

  That's the sound of priceless art being broken allright.  And of staff clearly not being paid enough for this.  Matt calmly makes his way through or over as appropriate.

  Oh good, Daystar has a wrench AND Crowbar.  This is a huge deal, because it means the science ninja is clearly humble enough to acknowledge that the Macgyver method is just as dangerous as his technical and magical aids.

  And in even better news, the bleeding lady Daystar is helping won't even have a scar. We'd bet five whole dollars on that one.

OOC: As absurd as it is to say.  Years of brazenly walking through crowds only to finally induce terror by way of Hanna Barbara sound effects accompanying his arrival, is pretty on brand for Matt/My gaming record.  It fits in the way Wile E Coyote not falling until he looks down fits.

Good thing Matt's enjoys the luxury of a crowd sent into a panic ending up less injured than they started. (Though generally, it's only the murder tail in open view at times such as now.  It's amazing what hats, hoodies, and slouching does for a lack of face).

Once inside, Lifelight makes her way towards the new exhibit. That had to be what most people were here for, so it is a logical first place to check. Antoinette says softly, "Hello Sola. Map of Weston Museum please."

A map brought up on her HUD, she follows the route that looks most likely to not have fleeing people.

Mittens is sooo in favor of the slide whistle entrance!  Especially since it causes a hilarious scene of people bouncing harmlessly off each other in cartoonish mayhem!  She so loves it when Matt shows up.

Then Mits realizes that the exiting crowd is blocking the only floor-level entrances.  Ah well, may as well make a separate entrance of her own for the convenience any arriving heroes.  Poof!  A portal appears near Antoinette with a big sign over it that reads, "↓ This way to danger!  Heroes only!  -Miss Adventure."  The portal leads right to Mittens, so she'll be able to stop any moronic bystanders who ignore the giant sign and try to jump into the portal that visibly leads right to a Para.

Once Matt catches up, Mits puts her megaphone away and gives a smile and wave.  "Hey so glad you're here!  Not sure yet what triggered the running of the bulls, but I doubt it was festive Mexican music.  I think I overheard someone say the exhibits were coming to life.  If it's true I sure hope there's an Easter Island head asking for gum."

Re: Weston Museum

Inside the Museum

The heroes manage to find their ways into the museum and it's easy enough to follow the fleeing crowd as they race through the hallways.  In the hallway outside of the exhibit, they find a security guard frantically trying to accomplish the dual task of herding potential victims to safety while calling into a walkie to find out what is going on.  The guard has a name tag that says Williams on it.  Beside him is a man in a suit and tie, yelling at the fleeing visitors to stop knocking over his exhibits.  The man is wearing the sort of suit that one might wear to try and look authoritative but not quite have the money to pull it off.

"Wilkes!  Anders!  Anyone!" Williams yells into his mic.  His eyes are trained down the hallway towards the entrance to the Egyptian exhibit.  His hand, sitting restlessly on the grip of a 9mm sidearm, looks about ready to draw the weapon.  "Dammit!"

The man standing beside him is not looking towards the exhibition hall but at a crumpled up rug(?) that is currently being trampled.  "Not the tapestries."  he moans.  "Do you know how long it took me to acquire them?!"  He suddenly notices the heroes and points at them.  "You!  You there!  You've got to do something.  My museum..."

The mans words are lost beneath a staccato of gunfire.  From down the hallway, the heroes can see a guard backing out of the exhibit area firing her sidearm.  "Wilkes!"   Williams shouts, drawing his own weapon.  Wilkes fires her weapon two more times but from the way that she is swearing, the bullets do not appear to be having the effect that she wants.

A second later, a figure trailing moldy bandages rushes out of the exhibition room and knocks Wilkes to the ground.  Its mouth is open as if it was uttering a battlecry but no sound emerged as it raised a bony fist to strike the fallen guard.

Re: Weston Museum

Equipped and ready to go he gives a nod to Xing Chao.

"Good to have an idea of what I am dealing with."

Slipping gloves on, he'd have to deal with fingerprints later, not that he had a record here yet so he wouldn't be in the system.  Still it was best to be careful.  Stepping out of the closet he quickly moves to where the voices and other heroes had gathered.  Looking to the guard and who he presumes to be the curator, he begins to open his mouth even as he's moving when the gunfire starts.  Usually most would run away or look for cover from the gunfire but instead his steady purposeful walk becomes a sprint even before Wilkes is seen.  He reasons the gunfire is directed into the exhibit and highly doubts necromantically raised mummies were carrying anything more than a variety of diseases.  Against a corpse he realizes easily enough that 'pain' would not register to it.  Still there were moves he could use to restrict it's movement.  With the guard in close proximity he couldn't risk trying to lasso the fist so he picks up his speed.  Dropping into a slide he angles the crowbar to shift it under the decending forearm and behind the creature's neck to use it as a fulcrum to help get the creature's upper body off balance.  Working to roll it off of the guard, taking a quick stock of the situation.  If he is struggling against the weight or strength of the mummy, it doesn't show in his calm voice.

"Good to see you all.  Yes, they are mummies.  I have it under advisement we are dealing with Necromancy.  Dragon Fist, Matt.  First up, in the exhibit.  Lifelight, help me with Wilkes then on me.  Miss Adventure, you are on containment.  Help us get anymore civilains out, keep them in the room and then scout the area.  Look for anyone else or any other shamblers.  And be careful.  This magic could be passive or there could be someone on the premises controlling it.  We are dealing with numbers here.  This is the largest collection of mummies outside of Cairo.  And we do not know how many are affected.  Also, be careful.  If their injuries are not too severe, any civilians that have become swayed may yet be saved if they were not brain dead for too long."

Morbid, perhaps.  But he was trying to be pragmatic.

While he hadn't met Dragon Fist, he had been doing his homework and the suit of armor certainly fit the description of what he heard on the street that had so many criminals running scared.

Dragon Fist took a brief look at the black-clad stranger who seemed, out of nowhere, take command of the situation. While such leadership was welcome in uncertain times, there were times where it could have been extremely annoying and overbearing. Especially from what appeared to be some sort of newcomer to Weston. The stranger also seemed to be aware of who he was, whether it was through reputation or stalking, was anyone's guess.

But now was not the time for such sentiments. For the time being, the museum was in chaos, and that chaos had to be dealt with. Even if it meant sacrificing ego for the greater good.

"Fine," he replied to the stranger as he then began to make his way towards the exhibit.  Once he arrived, he began to charge his fists with chi, preparing himself for whatever may come.

She flew towards the museum at speeds that even she found unreal, never having really opened up like this. She was about to make a new entrance through the skylight when she saw a familiar looking portal glowing outside and dove towards it with a smile...

...appearing inside with her flaming sword in hand. "Mittens, Lifelight. Lovely to see you." She said in that voice that cracked like flame. "What's going on...mummies? Zombies? Time to die. Again."

She moved in with her blade raised.

Open a door for heroes and so many awesome heroes show up!  Though it was the pretty ones that actually used the portal.  No complaints here!

"Ohai!  Hey, good to see you again!"  This applies to all present whom Mits has met.  "Mummies?!  For realzies?!!"

There goes Daystar being all awesome again.  This is how Mittens had hoped teaming up with Dane would have been like.  Instead Dane's all, "Hold my beer while I smash a hostile alien squad... and their ship."  Not what she'd hoped, but still epic!  But then Daystar goes and exceeds Mits' already high expectations of him.  And then there's the new guy.

"Oh my gosh it's a Draconian!  EPIC!  Nice to meetcha, Dragon Fist!  Ever wanted to be invulnerable?  Well that's what Matt can do for ya!  Among many many other really handy things."

To the not-expensive suit guy she continues, "Such as ensuring priceless archeological artifacts are in no danger of any damage.  I'd ask you to please get to safety, but with Matt around you can join in fighting the mummies if you like.  No need to worry about so much as a bruise!"

Mits indicates the cool guy with the mutant head-tail is Matt.  If not for him having arrived, she'd have likely been much more active in ensuring the safety of poor Wilkes.  But now she knows she can get away with being herself without anyone being in any real danger while she fan-girls over the dragon fighter.  And now she finally gets to see Daystar and Seraph in action!

"Aye aye, Cap'm Daystar!  Sweet move!"

Mits first consults the museum floor map that's sure to be prominently displayed then gets to carrying out Daystar's orders.  Without having to leave the action!  Yaaaay!

Lifelight had a concerned look when she saw Wilkes. Then Daystar came in.

By coincidence, when Daystar starts laying out commands, Lifelight is already on her way to Wilkes and Daystar. Once there, she gives some healing to Wilkes if she needs it. Either way, Lifelight looks in the direction Wilkes was firing.

For the time being, Lifelight will stick with Daystar. She has every confidence Matt will do what Mittens just bragged.

Re: Weston Museum

  Matt can understand the incredulous complaint from Williams, because really. Tapestries?  You know a fleeing crowd has no sense of direction when the wall props are collateral damage.

  He does wonder how long until his recent wishy washy mix of 'activate cheat codes' vs 'but they need to know how to deal with this' logic leads to the worlds fastest cases of apathetic immortality.  But no status effects so long as his Influence has anything to say about it is a guilt free baseline.

  "We'll be prioritizing lives sir, but have a free sample of what putting up with the eccentricities of paras now, will get you later." Matt comments to Williams as a priceless vase returns to being as priceless as it was that morning.

  Mittens Adventure is a much better PR person than he is, though "Thanks for the vote of confidence, but it would probably be for the best if the staff at most, stayed at a very safe distance."

  First order of violent business as his head tail approaches Daystar at a hopefully nonthreatening 5 miles per hour.  "Just gonna dismember that jerk your holding, if that's okay."

  The intention being to start with a merely mundane cutting. This is for scientific reasons, as he remains ready to revoke the undeath rights on the severed limbs should they remain hostile to those stuck with mortal means.  (He expects if Dragon Fist and Serena will be just fine on their own in making sure punching the heads off mummies works the first time.)

  Observation of reality is faster than parsing his largely acting on instinct Awareness.  Refer back to 'oh right, jammer, duh!'... Which on that note, reminds him to pay closer attention to 'supernatural effects, thataway' vibes.

Seraph folded her wings behind her so as to not knock over artifacts and displays with their nigh unto 16' span and then she moved. Re: Weston Museum

The Not-So-Expensive suit guy looks incredulously at Mittens when she makes the suggestion that he could join in the fighting.  "What?!  Fight mummies?  Me?!  Those are priceless remains!  Do you know what damaging them could cost us..."  Before he could complete the sentence, his eyes widened as a fleeing patron knocked into a display stand holding a 5ft tall intricately carved stone statue.  The statue teetered precariously before slowly falling off.

The guy in the suit, with a speed that would not seem natural given his appearance, rushed over and managed to slide his body between the falling statue and the floor, saving the item with a painful 'woof' of breath.  "Stop breaking the collection you antiquities heathens!" he shouted, shaking a fist briefly at the back of a fleeing person.

Daystar managed to lever the mummy off of Wilkes, but the creature was surprisingly strong, given the atrophied nature of its musculature.  Both ended up on their knees, with the mummy trying to punch at Daystar with its free hand.  The clumsy attempt was cut short when Matts head tail takes off the arm.  The mummy had time to look over at Matt before Seraphs flaming sword severed its head.  The undead creature twitched a few times and then lay still.

Lifelight used her powers to give the guard named Wilkes some healing.  The mummy inflicted bruises faded away and the guard raised herself up on her elbows.  She gave Lifelight a relieved smile.  "...thanks...I thought that I was a goner for a minute there."  Her received expression suddenly darkened and she sat up quickly.  "The others!  We have save them from...whoa...is that...Dragonfist?"

The other guard, Williams, ran up to Wilkes and Lifelight.  He still had his weapon drawn.  "Fangirl later.  We need to...Oh man.  There really were attacking mummies..."  The mans eyes had shifted from Wilkes and Lifelight to the interior of the Egyptian exhibit.

The interior of the exhibition hall is a mess, looking very much like a tornado had blown through the room.  Many of the exhibit cases that were not against the walls had been knocked over, their contents spilling onto the floor.  Injured patrons litter the floor, some still moving while others lay deathly still.  Some were still fighting mummies.  One womans scream was cut short as a mummy punched her in the stomach.  Another man tried to call out for help but he was having trouble concentrating with the 3 mummified cats attacking him.  Museum guards can be seen in the mix, a few still standing but barely.

The heroes could see at least 16 or so human mummies.  There were some other animal mummies, mostly cats, but the way that they were running around was making counting them hard.  Then there was the mummified bull.  It raised its head at the heroes standing in the entrance, gave an odd sounding snort, and then charged at them.

  "Well, we're not dealing with Return of the Living Dead rules." Probably!  Serena's sword is fancier than a regular sword after all.

  Matt takes a moment to calmly lift the statue that (Again, clearly underpaid) staff had used himself as a cushion for.  Look, the innocent civilians could POTENTIALLY Run on their own.  While leaving this guy pinned under a statue with undead cats running around is just wildly irresponsible.

  "Sir, you're kind of screwed for PR with or without us.  Leaving these things to run around attacking employees and customers would be even worse for business than standing back and letting them get destroyed." A fate Matt isn't going to rectify, lest he come back tomorrow only to find them raised as violent undead a second time-Okay he's just lazy sometimes.

  "Even if healed, people can hold a grudge and call lawyers.  Unlike that vase you were complaining about earlier not longer being in eighty seven pieces."  Speaking of, Matt extends his influence to surviving citizens Lifelight can't reach... Sucks for anyone already dead, but that's a metaphysical line he is not going to look into crossing for the nameless masses on a guilty whim.

  He trusts the others to deal with the upright threats for the moment, as he starts herding cats...  Matt's life would be incredibly stupid if not for the stakes often involved.

The mummy's head flew off its shoulders as her sword cleaved through the neck of the undead thing. She didn't waste time, tossing the body effortlessly out of her way as she charged forward and swung around in an arc, wings extended and cut another into four pieces with the razor sharp edges and grabbed the woman the thing was attacking. "Run for the exit!" She snarled as she brought her sword down on top of the head of another, cutting the cursed thing in half.

Re: Weston Museum

Thankfully he had met Matt earlier and witnessed his fighting style with the aliens so the headtail coming for him doesn't startle him.  This allows him to focus on struggling with the mummy before Seraph and Matt step in.

Looking to the Curator.

"We will need a list of items recently brought into the Museum and manuscripts.  Also scrolls and the like that were being worked on in the past few hours.  Any information as to the origin of where you acquired this exhibit would be beneficial as well.  It is possible this was a planned attempt at injury and causing damage but it could also be as simple as someone reading something they should not have."

He had his ways of getting that information, but new world, he was attempting to play nice.  Inwardly he did wince a little at shouting out orders.  Meg had said most of these were relatively new heroes, but he didn't really know any of them.  It felt right to step up and at least try to get everyone on the same page, but he had to remember how well they handled themselves with the aliens.

Standing as the mummy crumples to the ground he looks to Lifelight as she heals Wilkes.

"If you need to get in there, I will follow your lead and help to keep the mummies off you."

He didn't know how close Lifelight needed to be or how much energy she could expend and with Mittens and her portals, he was figuring falling to the support group with Seraph, Dragon Fist and Matt on scene was the better move for him to take.

Mittens was apparently able to carry out Daystar's orders to contain the mummy threat to the one scene in the span of the last few posts.  Not terribly difficult to do considering there weren't that may ways to or from that exhibit and the mummies were too busy causing mayhem there rather than flee in panic with the crowd.  That woulda been funny if any of them had, though!

"Nicely done, everyone!"

She pops over to the two guards and offers them each an authentic Egyptian-style ancient alien kopesh, glowing with energy and crisscrossed with what looks like arcane markings.  Or is that circuitry?  (( Like this:  http://redraccoongames.com/wp-...esh-of-the-abyss.jpg ))

"Guns no workie on magical mummy threats.  Consider my loaning you these as my thanks for your courage for thinking of the victims rather than escape."

To the group, "And I repeat:  With Matt's superpower in play, there is no danger of anything getting permanently damaged.  Even the dismembered mummies can be put back together good as new once the danger has passed.  Heavy statue falls on person?  Neither person nor statue is harmed where normally there would be shattered bones and broken statue bits."

Since the three most dramatic "threats" (air quotes because aforementioned Matt superpower) are being handled and Daystar has Lifelight's 6, Mits portals into the very center of the mayhem along with a boombox playing appropriately exciting music and gets started doing the Laser Samurai thing - carving up as many of the the 17 human mummies and misc mummy cats as she can.  Which will probably be quite a few considering she really wants to impress Seraph and the others.  And the Law of Inverse Ninja Strength.

A strange, small cloaked figure who almost looks like a wraith descends from one of the ventilation ducts in the ceiling, landing on one of the mummy cats with a crack! It looks over in the direction of the mummy bull. Seeing Dragon Fist handling it, the cloaked figure decides to go after one of the human mummies.

Standing at only four and a half feet tall, the wraith slides between the mummy's legs with a pair of military-looking knives, chopping at where the feet attach to the legs so the mummy can't stand.

The wraith then moves on towards another mummy. Through its actions, it is clear this is an ally to the heroes, despite almost fitting in with the whole undead theme.

In seconds, he darted out the door after putting on his costume (even though it only took a few milliseconds). People on the way to the Museum seemed to be frozen as he passed by them. He just smirked and continued to his destination.

He stopped next to Mittens. A rush of wind followed him with an assortment of trash carried by his running at sublight speed. On his way in, he bowling balled a couple of Mum-Ra wannabes.

"I hope I'm not too late." He said with a grin. He saw the mummies attack his former comrades but he positioned himself to the closest one upon entering the place. "Need any help?"

Re: Weston Museum

-----> Dragon Fist

The mummified bull charged at Dragon Fist, it's hoofs making oddly sounding thunks on the floor.  Rather than stand his ground, Dragon Fist chose to counter-charge the oncoming undead beast.  When his chi-powered fists connected with animated desiccated animal being, the result was unsurprising.  The first punch halted much of the creatures forward momentum, and shattering its skull.  Dragon Fist second punch tore through tattered bandages and destroyed shoulder bone.  The creature was larger than a normal human and that difference in size, and what remained of the beast, crashed into Dragon Fist in a shower of fragmenting bone and bandage.

-----> Matt

Matt pulls the statue off of the museum administrator, who gives him an anxious look as if Matt was going to just slam the valuable artwork back on to its pedestal with little regard to the items significance.  Hearing Matt mention how screwed the museum could be PR-wise as a result of this incident, the discount suited mans eyes widened fearfully.  "Oh my god!  We are so screwed!  We can't afford any lawsuits and if the collections owners find out what happened..."

He looked around frantically, as if seeing every fleeing person as a potential court case that was going to ruin the museum.  "We have to get everyone out and make sure that they don't talk to the press.  If the press gets wind of this, the museum could be ruined!"

-----> Seraph

It was hard to discern the mummys expression as it raised its hands high above its head, planning to inflict further harm on the woman gasping for breath at its feet, but a moment later it didn't matter.  Seraphs blades easily dismembered the undead antagonist and then another that was nearby.

The woman, hearing Seraphs suggestion about the exit, gasped out a 'thanks' and started to stumble towards the entrance to the exhibition.  Her movements were slow due to her injuries and the scattered debris and unconscious bodies in the way.

Seraph was far enough into the room that she made a big target.  Two mummies, one on either side of her, ran at her, their fingers hooked into the shape of claws.

-----> Daystar

The curator looked to be in a new panic after something that Matt had said to him, yelling something to the effect of "Everyone get to safety and don't sue us!"  The mans attitude did little to change when Daystar asked him for lists of the exhibits contents.

"You want what now?!  Does it look like I have time to get paperwork?!"

-----> Mittens and Duke Absalom

Mittens hands two rather ragged looking guards her conjured bladed weapons.

"What the hell am I supposed to do with this?!" one guard, whose name tag reads Denvers, asks.  He looks from his handgun, which he was very familiar with, to the Khopesh, which he was not.  "Don't you have like a bigger gun or something?"

The other guard, who was wearing a nametape that read Amir, eyes widen in excitement.  "Cool!  My Warrior uses something like this in World of Fightcraft."  With more enthusiasm than skill, she runs towards the nearest mummy, Khopesh raised high above her head and brings it down on her undead opponent.  The glowing weapon chops off the creatures arm below the elbow.  the mummy does not take this kindly and turns on Amir, grabbing her by the throat.

Duke Absalom arrived accompanied by a rush of wind to see one perplexed guard and another being attacked by mummy.

-----> Lifelight

Wilkes gave Lifelight a quick nod and retrieved her handgun.  "I'll cover you.  Let's go." she said with the conviction of someone who had momentarily forgotten how ineffective her weapon had been on their opponents.  Following Lifelight into the room, Wilkes only managed to take two more shots before deciding that getting the injured to safety was a more efficient use of her energy.

The pair ran to the nearest, severely injured looking individual.  The woman was lying crumpled on the floor with several deep cuts bleeding out.  Lifelight used her powers to heal the wounds, but the woman was still groggy.  "I'll get this girl to safety." Wilkes said, hoisting the woman over her shoulders in a fireman carry.  "Be right back."

-----> Maverick

The strange wraith may seem to be on the side of the undead, but the antagonistic mummies are not fooled.  Or perhaps they are just attacking anything that is not mummified.  The legless mummy tries to grab hold of the wraith but the cloaked figure is already out of reach and bearing down on another undead assailant.

The mummy looks up at Maverick as he approaches, snarls something in a weezing tone, and takes a swing at him.

He speaks loudly and quickly as he moves along with Lifelight, flanking her opposite of Wilkes and acting in unison with her.  Both helping to defend Lifelight from mummies that start coming her way as well as being an extra set of hands to help move civilians that can be moved after Lifelight does her thing, while doing his best to stay within striking distance of her for defense.  Relying heavily on his crowbar, realizing his rope may be of little use in this situation with so many mummies, heroes, security and civilians in the room.

Re: Weston Museum

Duke nodded at Daystar when he heard him. That's when he saw a mummy attacking the guard. He sped toward him and flipped it on its back after leg sweeping. When it was heading toward the ground, Duke jumped between it and the guard and side kicked the mummy toward a wall.

Duke got an idea after a large grin developed on his face. While the mummy was airborne, he jumped after it. Curling himself into a ball, he ricocheted off the mummy before it hit the wall, bounced off an adjacent wall and hit the ground rolling away after seeing that the mummy had crumbled on the ground. If it didn't, he followed up by coming around again, in ball form, but body charged with energy to decimate the mummy, ensuring its loss of whatever Duke's energy charged body hit. Duke would de-charge himself after the mummy was down and would continue rolling around the museum bowling balling any and every mummy that stood in his path.

"What was that one little blue fuzzball I saw on TV last night used to always say?" Duke chuckled after passing by Mittens in a speedball. He continued loud enough for all his comrades and anyone else can hear, "GOTTA GO, GOTTA GO FAST?!"

That's when Duke heard some people screaming by a staircase. They started running in the opposite direction. He rolled by the group saw mummies coming up the stairs. "Alright folks, your friendly neighborhood speedster guy is here. Please step away from the area and head to the nearest exit not currently occupied by these Imotep servant jabronis!"

"Let's see how many of these ugly muddafraggas I can tilt before scoring a SuperJets bonus!" He thought to himself.

Duke's curled up body grinds down the side rail towards the mummy brigade and slammed into them, drilling forward, hoping to cause a domino effect. If they started to fall, he would use their heads as another grind rail before moving past them around the corner. Then again, he had a strong urge to play pinball with them. That all depended on whether or not the mummies were slow enough (mentally) to allow the latter to happen.

The woman remaining groggy didn't come as a surprise. Lifelight's power can't shove people's blood back into their veins, after all.

However, the guard hoisting the woman to safety was a big deal since it meant Antoinette could move on to the next injured person without worrying about the last one.

Now to execute a plan she wanted to try out not long after she learned undead were involved.

When a zombie got too close to Lifelight, she fires one of her paralysis beams at it and then said, "Holtzman Shield" which cases a transluscent shield to pop up between her and the zombie. The shield has a picture in the center of a smiley face with glasses on.

Lifelight was unsure if the paralysis beam would even work, given it is designed only to disrupt normal organic beings or robots. Undead are not really in that category. But at least the Shield is designed to block low-velocity impacts like punches and kicks.

(( Loving the GM's way of clarifying, so I'm going to emulate! ))

-----> The Guards

"Nothing appropriate," Mits calls out from inside the room to answer the guard's question about guns while bifurcating an animated piece of ancient history with her light-katana, "Guns you can legally carry won't work on these things.  Blades are the best option."

While technically with Matt's power in play it'd be perfectly OK to open a portal to a battleship's cannon and fire a 1-ton high-explosive round into the mummy room, Mits remembers reprimands for such displays of overkill.  And handing an alien plasma grenade repeater to a guard is the sort of thing that'll get Miss Adventure denied the Interpol position she's applying for.  No matter how safe such a thing is in reality, it'll appear reckless.

-----> The Suit Guy & Matt

Zwoop!  Mits bisects a mummified cat like she just got out of high school biology then answers Mr. Suit, "Spin, my good sir.  Go right ahead and talk to the press.  Brag about how awesome the superheroes are and how glad you are that so many civilians were saved.  Then talk to the owners about merchandising.  T-shirts with 'The Great Mummy Attack of 2018' printed on them will sell for a fortune on E-Store.  I know I'll buy one."

-----> Maverick

"Ohai!"
Mits greets to the short creepy newcomer while sundering the nearest mummy, "Miss Adventure here.  Welcome to the partay, stranger.  What may we call you?"

-----> Seraph, Duke, Daystar, Lifelight

She grins at the arrival of Duke and Seraph kicking butt with beam weapons.  And of course there's Lifelight doing the actual saving of people and Daystar being all smart.  So she does a boomerang with her lightsword to dismember another mummy in an attempt to impress them.  "Y'all are so awesome!  Milkshakes on me afterwards!"

-----> Duke

"And speaking of spin..." When Duke goes all Supersonic on the mummies, Mits rapidly clicks a sound effect maker set to "Pop Badnik" every time he hits an enemy!  (( Pop a Badnik sound: https://youtu.be/w4LnygjLhvc?t=49 ))

-----> Dragon Fist

"Wait.  Did he just.  Did I just see...  OHMYGOSH it really IS the REAL Dragon Fist!!"

Something's different about him in person than on TV.  Is that a different costume from the old one?

  "Helping uncover what asshole caused this would shift blame better than any amount of generic pleading, yes."  This would probably be more assuring without the grizzly sight of all the undead animals suspended in the air behind him (Except for those already dealt with, of course).  Speared through their skulls, like a grizzly needle and thread.

  This WOULD be cool, except he's playing undead pet catcher.  Now, mortal Kombat fatalities on a bull? That's actually cool.  But at now least nobody will trip on them in a fit of life threatening clumsiness.

  "I'm also not fixing the mummies until you can personally assure this doesn't happen again without my intervention, if you needed a financial incentive." Matt not for the first time, feels like he's very bad with verbal threats. (Unless my demands are met. I'll only fix SOME of your priceless historical artifacts for free!)

  He has to resist the urge to provide legally distinct pinball sound effects as Duke bounces around the room.  "I'd rather have you show up late than most peoples show up early, so there's that." He says to Duke, it would be weird to be saying that to the stressed staff member.

The wraith responds to Mittens in a reverse-reverb voice that would sound familiar to any fans of Winter Entertainment* "You may call me Wraith."

* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8yT1CmTnww

Wraith looks around for any other mummies to desiccate, or perhaps people in immediate danger. Then charges into the fray.

Re: Weston Museum

In reply to Mittens (msg # 200):

He had to laugh at hearing the sounds from a video game he remembered playing a few weeks ago on his Sega Emulator. But since whoever's necromancing self wanted to go all Warcraft DeathKnight and terrorize a museum with mummies from Egypt, he might as well sock it to them--Duke style. He's been in this world for a while to know that gaming is big business-quite addictive IHO... Racing and anything with speed in it were among his favorites. Now he gets to combine the both against another who probably had the same idea with Fright Night at the Museum.

Duke was having too much fun with his version of Creep Night: 3D Ultra Pinball as he bounced off one mummy, onto the wall, smackdab into another... Rinse and repeat! ((https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=714Oror5qrU)). He imagined Mitten's sound effect maker set making the "Pop Badnik" every time he destroyed a mummy.

If you listen closely, you could hear Duke singing repeatedly:

"Duke's gonna give it to ya!
I'm gone give it to ya!
Duke's gonna give it to ya...
Cuz I'm so frikn' tired of ya!

First I'm gonna... Rock!
Into you I'mma... Roll!
Yer bones gonna... Pop!
And down yall go!
"

He paused after repeating that a couple times. Then he backtracked up the rail back to Mittens. "Can you find an instrumental of DMX's "X-Gone Give it to ya"? I'd like that on autoplay, please! K, THANKS, BYE!"

Duke rolled away up the stairs and back to his mummy pinball game. More of them were coming up the stairs. He starting singing again acapella until the song played then sung his parody along with it:

Yeah (uh), yeah, yeah (uh) (Grrrr)
Yeah, don't get it twisted
This speed game is mine, stupid mummies!
It’s so ovah 4 ya
You heard right foos
It’s what ya gone learn (it’s what you learnin’)
It’s what ya gone learn (TODAY!)
It’s what ya gone learn (TODAY!)
It’s what ya gone learn (TODAY!)

Duke gon' give it to ya
I ain’t waitin’ for you to come ta me, Duke gon' deliver to ya
Bonk Bonk, On the head kids, you missed
With the non-stop, speed smack of lightning kiss
Go hard, getting jiggy wit it
But I got such momentum
That I'll make all you lil mummies wonder if I’ll stop
Dang right, and I'll do it again, 'cause I am right so I gots to win
Smack-dab in the center, but no matter how many uneads there is
Hey yo necromancer, who you sendin' next?!
Yo little undeadies ain’t really puttin’ up much a fight.
All of em almost gone, with our super hits
I'm rollin’ down the mountain, yall’s about ta get lit
But I won't be the one that’s gone be dismembered
peeps please, if the only thing you foos did
Was came out to play, stay out my way, ya jabronis!

First I’m gonna rock, then I’m gonna roll
Ya bones gonna pop, and down yall gonna go!
Duke gon' give it to ya, he gon' give it to ya
Duke gon' give it to ya, he gon' give it to ya

First I’m gonna rock, then I’m gonna roll
Ya bones gonna pop, Down yall gonna go!
Duke gon' give it to ya, he gon' give it to ya
Duke gon' give it to ya, he gon' give it to ya

Re: Weston Museum

OOC:  So much going on.  Hopefully I get everything in order.  Big breath now...

-----> Dragon Fist

Without its head, the body of the mummified bull flails about in a mockery of a creatures death throes.  Before it can actually harm anything, or anyone, Dragon Fist is upon it.  The chi-formed sword becomes an arcing blur that sends chunks of undead bull to the ground.  The chunks no longer move.

-----> Daystar and Lifelight

The mummy that had decided to entertain Limelight, did not seem to appreciate the smiley face on her conjured shield.  It seemed to be more intent on trying to claw its way through it in order to get to Lifelight.  It clawed at the shield with some intensity, as if killing Lifelight was some divinely inspired life goal, but her shield appeared to be holding.

Daystar fended off the attacking undead through the judicious use of his crowbar.  The improvised weapon might not cut as cleanly as a chi-conjured or bright light sword, but it was just as effective.  Several swings later and there were shattered mummy bits at his feet.

Wilkes returned to grab another civilian.  "You guys have done this sort of thing before?" she said, seeming to be impressed with the pairs team work.

-----> Seraph, Duke Absalom and Maverick

Seraphs beams of golden light circled the room like a weedwacker.  Mummies, who did not seem to be intelligent enough to duck out of the way, were cut down.  The beam lanced through a few artifacts, display cases, and even a statue.

Duke ricocheted around the room like a pinball from hell.  Those mummies that Seraphs beams did not destroy, Dukes ball form shattered.  The mummies did not appear to be impressed by his singing.

Maverick, or Wraith, managed to deal with the mummies cats.  The smaller undead were more difficult for the others to hit but they did not escape his attention.

-----> Matt

The Museum administrator looks from Matt to the chaos around his museum and then back to Matt.  His eyes go wide, pleading.  "You...you can fix all of this?  You can restore the exhibit to its original condition?  That would be great.  Oh please do and we can..."  His expression becomes suspicious.  "Wait...are you...blackmailing me?"  The expression changes again, this time to one of dread.  "You are!  Why would a hero try to...You did all of this!  You animated the mummies in order to get money out of the museum!"

Slowly, the man backed away from Matt.

-----> Mittens

The guard remaining near Mittens, shrugs, looking unimpressed with the glowing sword thing that she had given him, and starts to walk into the exhibition hall.  He's probably going to help, but she doubts that he has anything more than a basic understanding of how to swing a sword.

The museum curator that was talking to Matt now seems to be in a new panic over something that Matt said.  It was clear from the mans body language that he now considered Matt to be some sort of new threat.  It was also clear that he did not hear what Mittens had said to him.

From her vantage point, it looked like the museum hallway was clearing up as the last of the fleeing patrons finally managed to get out through the front doors.  Those left were either injured in some manner, or, in the case of one individual, filming the whole thing on their smart phone.

"This is so going on my ViewTube channel."  The girl said with a grin as she panned the phone around the hallway.  She points the camera into the exhibition hall and grins as a beam of golden light tears through a statue dedicated to some Egyptian goddess.  "Cool.  Paras thrashing the museum."

-----> Everyone <-----

It took the assembled heroes only a few more minutes to clear out the exhibition hall of the undead.  The remains of mummified humans, cats, and a large bull were scattered about the hall.  The hall grew eerily quiet as the sound of battle ebbed, to be replaced by moans of injured and the sound of glass falling from display cases.

Sirens can be heard getting louder, announcing that soon Westons finest will be making their appearance.

Re: Weston Museum

  It says a lot about Matt's own life, and this guy's mindset, where the priorities of horror were.  "I mean, I COULD demand five dollars for my services, but I've already been fixing the physical exhibits for free while you are busy ranting."

  Matt has no physical need to sigh (and we still have no idea how he verbalizes), but he still does so as bisected artifacts pause mid dramatic separation, and he hammers CTRL+Z on property damage just in time for the wannabe clickbait maker (Far more effective than ruining their phone).

  "However, the trying task of doing your job and making sure this won't happen again, means I'll throw in the mummies as a bonus.  I'm not the one you need to convince to let you stay in charge of this place... Though I am morbidly curious how complaining to your boss He only fixed MOST of the exhibit destroyed under my watch! For Freeeeeeee! That sick monster! would turn out."

  Maybe it was mean to do a perfect imitation of his whining voice for that last bit?... Nah.  Repairing everything but mummies fast enough for Duke of all people to need a double take smothers that bit of bad manners guilt.

  Speaking of Mummies, the ones Matt had casually impaled through the head are deposited in a neat row for the sake of the poor clean up staff.

Dragon Fist listened briefly, now hearing the sirens.

He took a look at the assembled heroes. It was good to be part of a team....even if it was a random gathering, they seemed to have worked well together, dispensing with the mummies. But he could not help but wonder what....or whom....could have been behind such a stunt. Plus, he wasn't on the best of terms with the police.

"If anything else comes up, you can contact me through anyone at the Dragon and Tiger dojo. They'll get the message to me. For now, I have to go.."

-----> Seraph

Mits grins at Serena and gives a thumbs-up.  "Oooh!  A flavor that was mint to be!  You got it, buddie!"  Mummy slice!  She'll save the rest of the terrible puns she's thinking up for later.

-----> Maverick

Mits' eyes go wide at the sound of that voice.  "Woah.  Amazing voice you got there, Wraith!  Thanks for pitching in!"  Stab!

-----> Duke

Mits stops the movie style orchestral music when Duke starts singing and bobs her head to the music.  "Speedster AND a bard?  Didn't know!  Awesome!"  She has her boombox play the requested karaoke.  Zwoosh!

-----> ViewTube Girl

Mits smiles and waves to the girl's camera.  "Hi Mom!  Hi Dad!  Hey there, brave young videographer.  Might wunna get a selfie shot to prove to your friends it really was you who took that video."  Mummy-slicing pirouette!

-----> Matt / Daystar

Mits laughs from the mimicry!  "Facepalm!  I'm convinced this guy's just bonkers and not worthy of a reply at this point.  Thanks so much for fixing things!  You're the best!

"Consider me at your disposal for the follow-up investigating, Daystar!"

-----> Eerie Silence

With all the action over, Miss Adventure's boombox vanishes and thus the music stops playing.

-----> Dragon Fist

Mits has nooo idea what it's like to be in trouble with authorities.  She neever broke any alien laws while bouncing around in space.  Honest.  >.>  <.<  So she totally does not recognize Dragon Fist's eagerness to avoid the police.  "Sorry you won't be sticking around for milkshakes, but thanks a million for being so awesome, Dragon Fist!  Will do.  And the offer is reciprocal.  If you find yourself in need of a portal to get somewhere fast, call my hotline!  The A.I. prioritizes heroes and will patch you through to me in a jiff!  Big fan, by the way.  Social calls also welcome!"

A hand appears near Dragon Fist that offers him a custom calling card with Mits' hotline number on it along with various other contact info such as social media pages.  All the other heroes present would have been offered one just like it by now.  Just Mits isn't aware that Wraith already has one, so another is offered to him.

-----> The Police

Mits lightbulbs and realizes the police haven't yet been informed that the danger is passed and that the injured are being tended to, so she opens a tiny window to the police station's ceiling to search for someone who won't freak out that she's being all helpful and stuff.  Like a certain cheap suit guy whom we won't name would.  If she finds such an officer, she'll inform them that the danger is passed and ask that it please be passed along since she doesn't have permission to use the police radio frequency to make the announcement.  It's nerve-wracking enough as it is to wonder if innocent bystanders are dying while you're tearing through the streets to get to the museum without also wondering how in the world you're going to deal with mummies running around.  Cops don't need that.

Re: Weston Museum

-----> Matt

For a moment, it looked like the museum administrator had no idea what Matt was talking about.  Once he saw the pile of reassembled mummies, his eyes lit up and he ran to them.  If it were possible to hug the desiccated remains, Matt was pretty sure that this guy would have done so, were it not for the fact that the man realized that the mummies were priceless and getting finger prints, or tears of joy, on them would be very bad.

"They're intact."  The man said in wonder.  The cloud of despair that he'd been hovering over the man began to dissipate.  "Thank god, they're intact.  We're...we're going to have to be very careful putting them back into their displays but..."  he wheeled around to face Matt. "Thank you.  Oh man, thank you so much."

-----> Everyone

The police started filing into the museum, weapons drawn and moving in tactical formation.  "Alright, nobody move!" the lead officer shouted, indicating the assembled heroes.  Keeping her eyes on the group, she motioned for the rest of the officers to fan out throughout the hallway.  "Someone want to tell me what's going on here?" she asked the group.

"Thanks.." Dragon Fist replied, accepting the offered calling card from Mittens. Unsure if his most recent crusade had drawn the police's ire, he decided to not test the theory, just in case they wanted to at least take him for questioning, and made a winged exit from the museum.

Inside, he had a feeling that this was only the beginning.

Re: Weston Museum

  Matt can understand Dragon Fist's reluctance to stick around.  Thus far the police of the city have never cared even if Matt walks by them on the street, but the same could have been said of the civilian populace until tonight.

  He shrugs at the now thankful overworked staff member "That's me. The only para who cleans up after himself and others."  Though he's sure more would if they came with super NOT breaking things powers. Something something destruction is easier than creation cliche.  "Now remember, do your job in making sure this won't happen again, if you want the mummies fixed along with the rest.  Any damages remaining otherwise was quite literally, 'like that before I here'"... Okay, so Matt also used his PHENOMENAL UNEXPLAINED POWER to give the restrooms a proper cleaning.

  Matt's least humanoid trait has since retracted out of sight for the moment, but these days he misses it being out and about more than most would miss having thumbs.  "What the Angel said.  Attacking the living is a bigger concern than questionable mortal status."

OOC: I'll take 'Dumb things you have specified in your gamer life' for $500.  "Excuse me. I said several times I'd be fixing everything EXCEPT the mummies"

----->  Lifelight and Daystar

As body armored police officers began to move through the museum, the security guard Wilkes came up to both Lifelight and Daystar.  "Hey...uhm...thanks again for saving me."  she said a little awkwardly.  It was hard to believe that she was almost killed by mummies.  When does that ever happen outside of the movies.  "Can I buy you both like a coffee or something?  Or is that not done?  I'm kinda new to this whole being saved by paras thing."

-----> Matt

The museum administrator looked up from his examination of the mummies towards Matt.  "prevent it from happening again?  I don't even know how this happened in the first place."

-----> Mittens

The two guards that Mittens had armed with her glowing swords came back to her.

"This blade is soo cool." the guard named Amir gushed.  "Can I keep it?  It'll look great in my collection alongside my Glamdring and Excalibur.  Does it have a name?"

The other guard, Denvers, shook his head as his eyes rolled up to the ceiling.  "You are such a nerd, Amir.  Here's your sword back lady."  He held out the sword to Mittens.  "Still would have preferred a gun, maybe a really big gun, but whatever."

-----> Everyone

The lead officer listened to everyones explanations and slowly holstered her weapon.  "Mummies.  Riiiiiight." The officer, whose badge had the name Wilkes on it, said slowly, as if wondering if the assembled paras were trying to prank her.  They seemed to have the right attitude to do something like that.  "Well, I guess that makes things simple.  Reanimated mummies would technically fall under the purview of the Special Cases Unit.  Okay, so I'm going to need you all to stick around for a few minutes so that we can get your official statements and then you're all free to leave.  It's not as if I could stop you paras anyways....now if you'll excuse me, I need to coordinate with the paramedics and that mob outside."

She looks over at Wraith.  "You can put your hands down.  Thanks for that though.  Nice to see someone has some respect for the police in this town."

The officer turned to leave while another pair of similarly dressed police come towards the group to take their statements.

"Yeah, but you can grant official access to research materials like that other guy was asking.  Just sit back, and tell the press and shareholders you are a 'valuable contributing to the investigation'. I've found it amazing how far being unobtrusive can take you."

  He thumbs towards all the repaired stuff "After all, you 'convinced the paras involved' to already save the museum untold finances in repairs." Wow, you can practically feel the airquotes there.

After a few minutes passed of the cops present trying to contain the scene and control the nervous crowd, the survivors of the attack visibly calmed in an instant, shortly after a short haired blonde woman in a pant-suit flanked by two men walked into the museum. One man was tall and well built, with brown hair and blue eyes dressed in a grey suit. The other was a lean african american man with a bald head and perfectly groomed goatee in a dark blue suit.

The woman talked quietly for a moment with the lead officer before turning to the heroes. "Hello, I'm Captain Hanson with the Weston SCU. These are Detectives Mackiewicz and Charlton. We'll be taking over the investigation from here.." The woman would also be known instantly to anyone who hadn't been living under a rock, or another dimension, as Lady Psyche who joined the Legacy after the defeat of Brain and loss of Enigma. She worked with the team until they disbanded.

"I'm going to need you to give your statements to Detective Charlton, then you will be free to go, and thank you for your assistance.." She turned to the large man. "Big Mac, your with me. Let's take a look around the crime scene while we wait for CSI."

Re: Weston Museum

As the silence settles in, he is still moving.  While he does not have super speed, his mind was trained and conditioned to work rather quickly in these situations.  Even while he was helping to guard Lifelight, he was taking in the area.

Slipping a hand into an inside pocket of his Bomber Jacket, he first removes a cloth and quickly sets to cleaning any finger prints he likely left on the wrench and crowbar.  The rope is easy enough to clean off as he only touched two points while working to wrap it around his shoulder.  Cleaned he sets the two objects down, replacing the cloth.  Drawing his cellphone, he clicks and shifts it so it would not be identified as such before taking it out from the inner jacket pocket.  Palming the small device he begins scanning the room and the mummified bodies as well as taking extra care to get a good scan of the statue of the Egyptian Goddess.  This only has a portion of his attention.  Most of it given to tending to the injured and helping to set up a Triage situation before EMT's arrive.  He gets through about half the room before the police show up and when they do he stops moving, holding his hands up as well to show he's not a threat though he remains quiet.  Continuing as best as he can to scan the room from the vantage point.

Once the police lower their weapons he lowers his arms and goes back to helping clear the injured and investigating the room.  When Captain Hanson arrives he stops his movements and waits patiently for Detective Charlton to get to him.  All the while he looks to the others, impressed that Wraith decided to stay.  He didn't judge Dragon Fist for leaving, though he wonders silently as to those reasons.

He is stoic but not dismissive when Wilkes speaks.

"We help people, it is what we do."

Inwardly he does grin about the emotion and upbeat attitude that Mittens constantly puts out, as does most of the rest of this crew.  Milkshakes however would have to wait, there was a lot of information to look over and if possible more to collect.

When Detective Charlton finally gets to him.

"You can call me Daystar.  I have it on good authority that Necromantic magic was used to reanimate these mummies.  I will not presume to tell you your business, but if you need some help, I have some thoughts for you as well as your CSI team.  At least points to narrow it down to where to start looking.  I am new in town but activity like this is nothing new to me."

There was already a checklist being better situated in his mind from the first information given to him about the style of magic used.  Watching the mummies and how they reacted, how durable they were, he was already building up information and lines of investigation that would need to be taken to fill any of the suspicions he had.  As well as starting to name or at least propose and build the psychological profiles for a few potential suspects.

"Nuts," Mits says with a sigh when the police enter with weapons drawn, "Was trying to get word to you guys that the threat's been handled.  For the record, I was the one to call this in."

She "raises her hands in surrender."  Technically true because the mannequin arms that have replaced her real arms belong to her, so they're "her hands."  Meanwhile her actual biological hands are busy making milkshakes in her secret lair.  Nice to have a huge freezer with all kinds of flavors, toppings, and a shake making machine within arm's reach.  Never ceases to impress children the world over that Miss Adventure has their favorite flavor handy at a moment's notice.

And here's your mint chocolate chip shake.  Home-made!"

A green milkshake appears within Serena's reach.

-----> Antoinette & Maverick

The voices of these two give Mittens so much joy!  Lifelight with her adorable soothing soft girlishness and Wraith with his superhero ghost sounding awesomeness!  She could do an entire skit on just that premise alone.

"If you'd like a home-make milkshake, just call out the flavor you like!"

-----> Guards

Mits smiles to the guards and takes the swords back, stowing them in her secret lair.  "Glad to be of help.  I hope you understand I gotta keep my arsenal intact.  Please accept these replicas with my compliments."

Amir gets a 3D printed model of the sword along with a strip of paper with a URL to a cloud share site with the corresponding .STL file.  Denvers gets a 3D print of a Scutum-Centaurus Alliance grenade launcher along with it's corresponding link.

-----> Matt

Mits grins at Matt and his favorite flavor milkshake appears for him. "You know I'd clean up after myself if it were practical to do so, but you're just so much better at it than me.  And all those other amazing things you do so well.  Like selectively letting me have my fun with the dramatic space samurai laser sword ballet mummy slashing while simultaneously making scenery and bystanders tougher than ancient horrors and falling heavy objects."

Ah all those years in space with Matt.  So much fun!

Mits fails at stopping a laugh when Lady Psyche gives orders to the big guy.  "Big Mac?  You realize that I must ask.  I can haz cheezburger?"

And this is probably why Miss Adventure will never be half as awesome as Lady Psyche.

Duke gave his statement to the police. Initially when they arrived with their guns drawn, he put his hands up, letting them know he wasn’t a threat. He wondered how long it would take them to take his soldier in armor like appearance and feel at ease. Then again, he was just just a merc for hire. It was only a matter of time before the big fish in this pond recognized his skills in covert ops and give him a bigger calling.

 In the back of his mind, the thought of some necromancer disrespecting the graves of his ancestors bothered him. Yet he let his anger and frustration out on the undead but hoped that one day he’d be instrumental in bringing the one responsible for this act of disrespect to justice. Mittens talking about milkshakes perked his interests. It was enough to break him from his slightly disturbed state.

Re: Weston Museum

When Mittens' comment about homemade milkshakes, Lifelight softly says, "Chocolate, please." with a small smile.

Lifelight then notices Mittens keeling over armless, leaving her arms in the air, and hurries over to her to use healing energies on Mittens, but instead sees some swirly dimensional things where Mitts arms should be.

Seeing this is just Mittens' portal tricks, the suits finally register in Lifelight's mind and she turns to face them. "Hi."

When Serena is questioned, Lifelight walks over to be at Serena's side to sip shakes with her friend. Between sips, Lifelight says, "I have a gift for you.", and immediately goes back to sipping.

Lifelight proves to be forward, honest, and open. However, she also gives short answers a lot like "yes" or "no" with no followup unless asked. Lifelight was here for the exhibit and just wanted to learn some history while wandering around a museum, but that never happened because the attack happened instead.

Re: Weston Museum

Wraith answers Mittens' milkshake offer with "Strawberry, please."

To the detectives, Wraith is patient and forthcoming. But like any hero with a secret identity, Wraith is protective of his costume and of what he was up to before the incident. But outside of that, he is more than happy to share that he was skulking around when he saw the panic and immediately made his way to an alternate entrance. He also gladly tells precisely which mummies he sliced up and shows the weapons he used to do so.

Whenever he gets the strawberry milkshake, he says, "Thank you, honorable Mittens. I shall cherish this beverage later. When I'm alone."

Re: Weston Museum

Mits of course provides the flavors requested.  "You're welcome!"

She's sure to get a shot of super cute (and awesome looking) Seraph noms milkshake with super cute Lifelight.  Not that her alien tech ProGo isn't still running, just that the act of taking a picture is her way of saying, "You look marvelous!"  Mits blushes and smiles at being called "honorable Mittens" by the guy with the epic superhero ghost voice and giggles from his "cherish this beverage" way of talking.

To the police, Miss Adventure's super duper excited to be as cooperative as possible, providing instant holographic replay of what she describes along with extensive internal dialogue.

"...Not that I was really thinking terribly hard on the topic and was very much running on instinct because of all the excitement going on, but my brain was all..."

A brain shaped puppet appears on her hand and narrates, "There's no way that's the real Dragon fist right here before my eyes.  I mean... what are the chances of running into someone so famous and awesome?!  The wings look pretty close, but the costume doesn't match what I remember seeing on TV.  Clearly this is a fan of Dragon Fist who admires him, given the emblem."

Mits then continues, "But then he one-shots the bull mummy with his signature ki-fist and my brain was all..."

"'No way!  I recognize that move!  It is the real Dragon Fist!  Just sporting a different look!  Sure hope he doesn't take offense to Daystar taking charge earlier.  But if he knew what I know about Daystar, I'm sure he'd be all...'"

An action figure of Dragon Fist appears in her other hand and karate-chops as it speaks in a Mittensy imitation of Dragon Fist's voice, "Boldness is a good attribute in a hero.  We're all on the same team of justice, so every member's contribution is important regardless of their role."

"Still I can't help but worry that he mighta been off-put at my not giving him more respect than I did..."

On and on she rambles about how awesome everyone was.

  Boilerplate statements are given, and he expects the local authorities to have been a lot faster on the uptake about 'Property damage doesn't happen with him' to not need to play coy with that much anyways.  Particularly after nearly shouting about it to museum staff.

  Matt's preferred shake flavor is boring vanilla, so he feels less guilty about throwing away food he can't eat when Mittens isn't looking when she forgets that detail.

  Speaking of, he comments to Mittens "You should be used to the brooding sorts by now.  Though not like I'm much better than you in that regard." Given the degree of hero worship, he expects he will probably be tagging along with the catgirl further unless something comes up.

Re: Weston Museum

-->Daystar
The blonde woman listens to Daystar as she surveys the scene from where she stands. "Looks like it, been a while since we've had any magic type disturbances around here. Not since Gargoyle* left at least". She turns from the scene to look Daystar up and down. "So what are you supposed to be? The new Hunter?" She asked with a curious look on her face. Kevin would know from his research that Hunter was the closest thing this world had to his mentor, and that this woman had fought alongside him, so the comparison was probably inevitable.

--> Mittens

Lady Psyche smiled as Mittens began her fangirl gushing. "Hi. Always nice to meet a fan, but I have work to do, so please wait for any autographs or questions not pertaining to the crime scene till we're done, kay?"

The big man shrugged. "My names Mackiewicz, and I'm big, it's a pretty obvious nickname."

--> Statements

The smaller detective talked to each hero one by one, taking notes on a small pad, and asking questions where necessary. After all the interviews were done he handed each hero a card and tell them they were free to leave, or as long as they could adhere to crime scene protocol they could discuss any particular insights from special powers or training they may get from the scene.

Detective Charlton watches Mittens' hologram with interest. "Yeah Dragon Fist takes off before we show up a lot lately. Captain thinks she's avoiding her specifically. And yeah it's a different costume, he's...changed since the Legacy broke up. Since Mirage died really, the team still being around just kept him from going too far off the deep end, but now...." The detective shrugs. "Needless to say, he's just not in a good place."

quote:
A door-shaped portal opens for Meg and through it she can see superheroes giving statements to the police. Thanks to Matt's clean-up superpower, by now the only signs there was ever any violence is the various mummy bits littering the floor, and several bewildered victims recently healed up by Lifelight. Mits gives a big smile and thumbs-up to Meg. "While things are handled in here, I'm sure there's still plenty of folks that could use the attention of a healer. Dunno what kinda investigative prowess you possess, but that's what phase we're moving into. Whodunnit? Whydeydoit? How? Etc."

  Megaira smiled at Mitts, and said "Generally I don't tell folks what I do medically, but I can do some investigating that you guys may not be able to do.  Remember, heightened senses."  She had never made a huge fuss about that, but she had mentioned those once or twice.  She began with a scan, half closing her eyes (as they flared a brilliant emerald green while she scanned) to get a full gravito-electromagnetic scan of the whole museum, reading everything within the designated area, then moving to address injuries that hadn't already been handled by either Lifelight or Matt.

Re: Weston Museum

His voice remains steady and calm, simply stating a fact.  There is no indication if what he says is from amusement or annoyance.

"I would not say I 'took charge', Miss Adventure.  I am merely the one who spoke up.  Being in charge would imply trust I have not earned or experience I have not proven to have."

There was almost the slightest flinch at the side of his lip that would hint at a smile beginning to form before it fades from pre-existence.

Turning to Captain Hanson he inclines his head briefly, showing respect.

"A decent comparison, but I am my own person.  I kept my city safe for four years before I came here.  I was training to protect people for most of my life, though with focus for the last eight years.  For a while I was split between EMT or CSI as a field of study.  I had a working relationship with the local Police, something I hope to be able to continue here.  Unfortunately due to my situation, I can not put you in touch with the Commissioner that could vouch for my claims, or the man who trained me.

I only have theories for now.  This could have been a feint to gauge who would respond to an attack.  The statue of the goddess could have energy associated with it and if someone read an inscription from it, could have released that energy.  Worship and ceremony can build up energy that remains for centuries.  If it was recently added, the energy could have simply finally seeped into the corpses to reanimate them.  By the same token, someone in the library could have been reading an old scroll or tome.

The mummies did not seem, intilligent or controlled by someone else.  They were simply striking out at warm bodies with a singular focus.  Only changing their focus with substantial force being applied.  Those are of course not the only options, just three theories I can think of off the top of my head.  There may be totems in the area as well, hidden away and dropped as a timer or they could be in the mummies themselves, though that seems unlikely due to their numbers."

He keeps an eye on the other goings on, watching as Meg steps through the portal and starts helping.  He doesn't write off the Curator as a potential suspect just yet, though he doesn't voice that opinion, especially in his proximity.

Lifelight says, "Yes." to Seraph and leans shoulders with her. "So you can keep better track of Maggie or me."

She offers a watch to Seraph. Simple watch with a video face. "The Maggie button will bring up Maggie."

She presses the Maggie button and the room Maggie was last in is seen as though through Maggie's eyes. "If you press it again, it will show you her GPS location."

Lifelight presses the button again to show Maggie's GPS location. Then says, "The Lifelight button will bring up Lifelight." she presses the button and Seraph can see herself through Lifelight's eyes. "If you press it again, it will show you her GPS location." and presses the button again, showing their location.

Lifelight can be methodical. She sips her shake.

Re: Weston Museum

It's so hard to associate the word "can't" with Matt in Mittens' mind.  But yeah, "can't" eat vs. "doesn't need to" eat is something that could slip her mind in all this excitement.  Or perhaps the gifted vanilla shake was intended for Matt to use as ammo for breaking the ice should anyone be disturbed by the Monstrosity-With-A-Side-Of-Slide-Whistle again.  The world may never know.

Mits blushes from the diplomatic response from Lady Psyche and she does her best to salute in a dignified manner in response.  "Yes mam!"

To Big Mac she nod and smiles slyly.  "Mittens wouldn't know anything about obvious nicknames."

Carry a light-hearted nickname and the badguys tend to underestimate you.  Never fails.  Until you do gritty for so long even something as silly as "The Bat-Man" is taken seriously.  (( https://screenrant.com/wp-cont...-art-by-Bob-Kane.jpg "Haha what a silly name!  Wait... is he swinging using a garrote?!" ))  And practically worshiped by an aspiring heroine who gave herself an animal-themed name as well.

Mits nods to Detective Charlton.  "Dealing with loss is rough even without the weight of a renowned crime-fighter on your shoulders.  If I bump into him, I'll do my best to at least not make things worse."

No matter how many times Miss Adventure successfully navigates the turbulent waters of a grieving hero's broken heart, the most credit she ever gives herself is, 'Well at least I managed to not make it worse.'  Messed up too many times as a kid to accept she's not an emotional bull in a china shop as an adult.

"And as you can see, Daystar is amazing in many verifiable ways!  His theories are smarter than most folks' carefully calculated conclusions.  As for credentials, I myself can vouch for personally perceiving plenty of particulars that speak for themselves.  Heroically helping to save the day just now, for example.  And then there's the modesty.  Your actions have more than earned my trust and respect, Daystar."

Mits watches the heart-meltingly warm exchange between Lifelight and Serena with an endearing smile.  And takes mental note that she has some ammo to defend speaking in third person.  There's nothing at all wrong with it if even a cute-face like Lifelight refers to herself in the third person.  Funny the kinds of nitpicks people nitpick heroes over.  Much as she wants to answer the "inadequate" bit, it'll probably be more meaningful coming from Lifelight.  Still...  Mits has an angelic hand puppet for just such an occasion.

The Police Captain nodded. "Solid theories, could be any one of those, we'll see how the evidence pans out" She handed him a card with her name, rank, and phone number. "If you think of any-"

"Hey cap! You might wanna take a look at this." The big detective called from across the room, standing in front of one of the exhibition cases. Thanks to Matt the broken glass of all the exhibits had returned to its original shape, but the one "Big Mack" stood in front of was different than the others in that it was empty. "Looks like whomever started this grabbed a party favor too.

--Mittens--

Detective Charlton gives Mittens an appreciative look. "Thanks for that, but he's been like that a few years now. Doesn't really work with us like he used to, and he's a bit more...severe, in his dealing with criminals now." He nodded at her remarks about Daystar. "It'll be nice to have a detective type in Weston again, though Hunter was less a detective and more...well, a hunter."

Upon seeing what Big Mac just pointed out, Wraith motions over to the museum manager that was freaking out about the destruction of the museum properties and says, "And this man over here will be useful since he should know exactly what it is that went missing."

The guy sounded a bit obsessed with the property, so clearly he is the guy to talk to about it. Right?

The museum administrator was trying to do two things at once; answering police questions and yelling at people to be careful around the artifacts.  He perked right up at hearing that something was missing, almost as if he had some preternatural ability.

"What?  What do you mean missing?" he said, quickly moving over to empty display case.  "No...no...no...no...this necklace was from the tomb of the Pharoah Anukhamen...but..."  The man scratched his head as he looked around the displays.  "It was valuable sure, but not as valuable as the jewellery in that case or that one."

  The line between 'salvaging a situation' and 'disturbing the crime scene' has always been an interesting problem.  Though he's sure if anyone ever finds his talents an issue to doing their job, they would say it to his face.

  Still, best to at least make the minimum effort for being polite about the subject.  He'll need the practice for the eventuality of whoever draws the short straw on having to someday ask Matt something like 'could you please put the victim's arm back on the floor where you found it?'.

Re: Weston Museum

  Well, at least the Curator won't have to watch as his stuff gets resmashed in the name of forensics.  It bothers his sensibilities, but in a very boring personal preference way.  Rather than his hypocritical instincts to 'put up with' others playing with reality in even the most benign of ways.

  "It's always nice to have someone who already knows what to look for in these matters" He comments, as he remakes a mess of things.

  You've heard those lazy speeches about 'your mind filters out the strange and horrible to protect you'? For Matt it's more like how you are always seeing the nose in front of your face, but your instincts consider it a waste of time to process that even as you take action using that information.

  Little wonder Matt still values those reliant on sensory organs or a few extra categories to work with beyond simple humility. They will find Waldo while you are finding his lost luggage, his dog, and-Hey this museum carpet was made in 1975.

Capt. Hanson gives Matt an appreciative nod as things return to normal. She hands out a card to each of the heroes present. "If anyone has anymore information."

The Curator rteurns stopping to look at the state of the museum with a forlorn look. After a moment he hands a copy of the photo to both Daystar and Lady Psyche before turning and slowly walking back to his office with his head hung.

After taking the photo the superhero turned police captain returns her focus to the crime scene giving the gathered Paras a dismissive wave letting them now they were free to go.
