Re: Weston Museum

After a few minutes passed of the cops present trying to contain the scene and control the nervous crowd, the survivors of the attack visibly calmed in an instant, shortly after a short haired blonde woman in a pant-suit flanked by two men walked into the museum. One man was tall and well built, with brown hair and blue eyes dressed in a grey suit. The other was a lean african american man with a bald head and perfectly groomed goatee in a dark blue suit.

The woman talked quietly for a moment with the lead officer before turning to the heroes. "Hello, I'm Captain Hanson with the Weston SCU. These are Detectives Mackiewicz and Charlton. We'll be taking over the investigation from here.." The woman would also be known instantly to anyone who hadn't been living under a rock, or another dimension, as Lady Psyche who joined the Legacy after the defeat of Brain and loss of Enigma. She worked with the team until they disbanded.

"I'm going to need you to give your statements to Detective Charlton, then you will be free to go, and thank you for your assistance.." She turned to the large man. "Big Mac, your with me. Let's take a look around the crime scene while we wait for CSI."

OOC: You don't need to write out your statement (unless you want to) you can just say you gave your statement and mention if you specifically left anything out. Then move on to wherever your characters would go after giving the undead a good thrashing.

Re: Weston Museum

As the silence settles in, he is still moving.  While he does not have super speed, his mind was trained and conditioned to work rather quickly in these situations.  Even while he was helping to guard Lifelight, he was taking in the area.

Slipping a hand into an inside pocket of his Bomber Jacket, he first removes a cloth and quickly sets to cleaning any finger prints he likely left on the wrench and crowbar.  The rope is easy enough to clean off as he only touched two points while working to wrap it around his shoulder.  Cleaned he sets the two objects down, replacing the cloth.  Drawing his cellphone, he clicks and shifts it so it would not be identified as such before taking it out from the inner jacket pocket.  Palming the small device he begins scanning the room and the mummified bodies as well as taking extra care to get a good scan of the statue of the Egyptian Goddess.  This only has a portion of his attention.  Most of it given to tending to the injured and helping to set up a Triage situation before EMT's arrive.  He gets through about half the room before the police show up and when they do he stops moving, holding his hands up as well to show he's not a threat though he remains quiet.  Continuing as best as he can to scan the room from the vantage point.

Once the police lower their weapons he lowers his arms and goes back to helping clear the injured and investigating the room.  When Captain Hanson arrives he stops his movements and waits patiently for Detective Charlton to get to him.  All the while he looks to the others, impressed that Wraith decided to stay.  He didn't judge Dragon Fist for leaving, though he wonders silently as to those reasons.

He is stoic but not dismissive when Wilkes speaks.

"We help people, it is what we do."

Inwardly he does grin about the emotion and upbeat attitude that Mittens constantly puts out, as does most of the rest of this crew.  Milkshakes however would have to wait, there was a lot of information to look over and if possible more to collect.

When Detective Charlton finally gets to him.

"You can call me Daystar.  I have it on good authority that Necromantic magic was used to reanimate these mummies.  I will not presume to tell you your business, but if you need some help, I have some thoughts for you as well as your CSI team.  At least points to narrow it down to where to start looking.  I am new in town but activity like this is nothing new to me."

There was already a checklist being better situated in his mind from the first information given to him about the style of magic used.  Watching the mummies and how they reacted, how durable they were, he was already building up information and lines of investigation that would need to be taken to fill any of the suspicions he had.  As well as starting to name or at least propose and build the psychological profiles for a few potential suspects.

-----> Police

"Nuts," Mits says with a sigh when the police enter with weapons drawn, "Was trying to get word to you guys that the threat's been handled.  For the record, I was the one to call this in."

She "raises her hands in surrender."  Technically true because the mannequin arms that have replaced her real arms belong to her, so they're "her hands."  Meanwhile her actual biological hands are busy making milkshakes in her secret lair.  Nice to have a huge freezer with all kinds of flavors, toppings, and a shake making machine within arm's reach.  Never ceases to impress children the world over that Miss Adventure has their favorite flavor handy at a moment's notice.

-----> Seraph

Serena's jokes make Miss Adventure double over laughing.  Especially silly looking because her fake arms remain suspended midair.  "Nice one, Seraph!

And here's your mint chocolate chip shake.  Home-made!"

A green milkshake appears within Serena's reach.

-----> Antoinette & Maverick

The voices of these two give Mittens so much joy!  Lifelight with her adorable soothing soft girlishness and Wraith with his superhero ghost sounding awesomeness!  She could do an entire skit on just that premise alone.

"If you'd like a home-make milkshake, just call out the flavor you like!"

-----> Guards

Mits smiles to the guards and takes the swords back, stowing them in her secret lair.  "Glad to be of help.  I hope you understand I gotta keep my arsenal intact.  Please accept these replicas with my compliments."

Amir gets a 3D printed model of the sword along with a strip of paper with a URL to a cloud share site with the corresponding .STL file.  Denvers gets a 3D print of a Scutum-Centaurus Alliance grenade launcher along with it's corresponding link.

-----> Matt

Mits grins at Matt and his favorite flavor milkshake appears for him. "You know I'd clean up after myself if it were practical to do so, but you're just so much better at it than me.  And all those other amazing things you do so well.  Like selectively letting me have my fun with the dramatic space samurai laser sword ballet mummy slashing while simultaneously making scenery and bystanders tougher than ancient horrors and falling heavy objects."

Ah all those years in space with Matt.  So much fun!

Alien Bad Guy:
"Wait wait wait!  Time out!  How come all of a sudden not a one of my sweet weapons work, but that stupid glow stick of hers still works just fine?!  No fair!"*

*(May not be a direct translation from the original language.)

-----> Cpt. Katy Hanson

"OHMYGOSH!  The Lady Psyche!  Such a fan!  I'm studying hard to some day be half as awesome as you!  Helpful that I have a high-tech ProGo video of the entire event from when I showed up?  I record everything, including temperature, barometric pressure, personal vitals, internal dialogue, the works."

Mits fails at stopping a laugh when Lady Psyche gives orders to the big guy.  "Big Mac?  You realize that I must ask.  I can haz cheezburger?"

And this is probably why Miss Adventure will never be half as awesome as Lady Psyche.

-----> Daystar

A heart-shaped red balloon appears over Mittens' head when Daystar answers Wilkes.  "Love it when heroes say heroic stuff like that!"

She checks off something on a checklist.

Re: Weston Museum

Duke gave his statement to the police. Initially when they arrived with their guns drawn, he put his hands up, letting them know he wasn’t a threat. He wondered how long it would take them to take his soldier in armor like appearance and feel at ease. Then again, he was just just a merc for hire. It was only a matter of time before the big fish in this pond recognized his skills in covert ops and give him a bigger calling.

 In the back of his mind, the thought of some necromancer disrespecting the graves of his ancestors bothered him. Yet he let his anger and frustration out on the undead but hoped that one day he’d be instrumental in bringing the one responsible for this act of disrespect to justice. Mittens talking about milkshakes perked his interests. It was enough to break him from his slightly disturbed state.

you have a cookies and cream flavor?” he asked her.

"Oh! Milkshake! Thank you, Mittens." The fiery angel said as she plucked her shake out of the air and began to drink, making for a most unusual sight as the fierce form of the Angel of Justice and Heaven's Scourge stood there drinking a shake as she gave a statement to the police.

Re: Weston Museum

When Mittens' comment about homemade milkshakes, Lifelight softly says, "Chocolate, please." with a small smile.

Lifelight then notices Mittens keeling over armless, leaving her arms in the air, and hurries over to her to use healing energies on Mittens, but instead sees some swirly dimensional things where Mitts arms should be.

Seeing this is just Mittens' portal tricks, the suits finally register in Lifelight's mind and she turns to face them. "Hi."

When Serena is questioned, Lifelight walks over to be at Serena's side to sip shakes with her friend. Between sips, Lifelight says, "I have a gift for you.", and immediately goes back to sipping.

Lifelight proves to be forward, honest, and open. However, she also gives short answers a lot like "yes" or "no" with no followup unless asked. Lifelight was here for the exhibit and just wanted to learn some history while wandering around a museum, but that never happened because the attack happened instead.

Re: Weston Museum

Wraith answers Mittens' milkshake offer with "Strawberry, please."

To the detectives, Wraith is patient and forthcoming. But like any hero with a secret identity, Wraith is protective of his costume and of what he was up to before the incident. But outside of that, he is more than happy to share that he was skulking around when he saw the panic and immediately made his way to an alternate entrance. He also gladly tells precisely which mummies he sliced up and shows the weapons he used to do so.

Whenever he gets the strawberry milkshake, he says, "Thank you, honorable Mittens. I shall cherish this beverage later. When I'm alone."

Re: Weston Museum

Mits of course provides the flavors requested.  "You're welcome!"

She's sure to get a shot of super cute (and awesome looking) Seraph noms milkshake with super cute Lifelight.  Not that her alien tech ProGo isn't still running, just that the act of taking a picture is her way of saying, "You look marvelous!"  Mits blushes and smiles at being called "honorable Mittens" by the guy with the epic superhero ghost voice and giggles from his "cherish this beverage" way of talking.

To the police, Miss Adventure's super duper excited to be as cooperative as possible, providing instant holographic replay of what she describes along with extensive internal dialogue.

"...Not that I was really thinking terribly hard on the topic and was very much running on instinct because of all the excitement going on, but my brain was all..."

A brain shaped puppet appears on her hand and narrates, "There's no way that's the real Dragon fist right here before my eyes.  I mean... what are the chances of running into someone so famous and awesome?!  The wings look pretty close, but the costume doesn't match what I remember seeing on TV.  Clearly this is a fan of Dragon Fist who admires him, given the emblem."

Mits then continues, "But then he one-shots the bull mummy with his signature ki-fist and my brain was all..."

"'No way!  I recognize that move!  It is the real Dragon Fist!  Just sporting a different look!  Sure hope he doesn't take offense to Daystar taking charge earlier.  But if he knew what I know about Daystar, I'm sure he'd be all...'"

An action figure of Dragon Fist appears in her other hand and karate-chops as it speaks in a Mittensy imitation of Dragon Fist's voice, "Boldness is a good attribute in a hero.  We're all on the same team of justice, so every member's contribution is important regardless of their role."

"Still I can't help but worry that he mighta been off-put at my not giving him more respect than I did..."

On and on she rambles about how awesome everyone was.

  Boilerplate statements are given, and he expects the local authorities to have been a lot faster on the uptake about 'Property damage doesn't happen with him' to not need to play coy with that much anyways.  Particularly after nearly shouting about it to museum staff.

  Matt's preferred shake flavor is boring vanilla, so he feels less guilty about throwing away food he can't eat when Mittens isn't looking when she forgets that detail.

  Speaking of, he comments to Mittens "You should be used to the brooding sorts by now.  Though not like I'm much better than you in that regard." Given the degree of hero worship, he expects he will probably be tagging along with the catgirl further unless something comes up.

-->Daystar
The blonde woman listens to Daystar as she surveys the scene from where she stands. "Looks like it, been a while since we've had any magic type disturbances around here. Not since Gargoyle* left at least". She turns from the scene to look Daystar up and down. "So what are you supposed to be? The new Hunter?" She asked with a curious look on her face. Kevin would know from his research that Hunter was the closest thing this world had to his mentor, and that this woman had fought alongside him, so the comparison was probably inevitable.

--> Mittens

Lady Psyche smiled as Mittens began her fangirl gushing. "Hi. Always nice to meet a fan, but I have work to do, so please wait for any autographs or questions not pertaining to the crime scene till we're done, kay?"

The big man shrugged. "My names Mackiewicz, and I'm big, it's a pretty obvious nickname."

--> Statements

The smaller detective talked to each hero one by one, taking notes on a small pad, and asking questions where necessary. After all the interviews were done he handed each hero a card and tell them they were free to leave, or as long as they could adhere to crime scene protocol they could discuss any particular insights from special powers or training they may get from the scene.

Detective Charlton watches Mittens' hologram with interest. "Yeah Dragon Fist takes off before we show up a lot lately. Captain thinks she's avoiding her specifically. And yeah it's a different costume, he's...changed since the Legacy broke up. Since Mirage died really, the team still being around just kept him from going too far off the deep end, but now...." The detective shrugs. "Needless to say, he's just not in a good place."

quote:
A door-shaped portal opens for Meg and through it she can see superheroes giving statements to the police. Thanks to Matt's clean-up superpower, by now the only signs there was ever any violence is the various mummy bits littering the floor, and several bewildered victims recently healed up by Lifelight. Mits gives a big smile and thumbs-up to Meg. "While things are handled in here, I'm sure there's still plenty of folks that could use the attention of a healer. Dunno what kinda investigative prowess you possess, but that's what phase we're moving into. Whodunnit? Whydeydoit? How? Etc."

  Megaira smiled at Mitts, and said "Generally I don't tell folks what I do medically, but I can do some investigating that you guys may not be able to do.  Remember, heightened senses."  She had never made a huge fuss about that, but she had mentioned those once or twice.  She began with a scan, half closing her eyes (as they flared a brilliant emerald green while she scanned) to get a full gravito-electromagnetic scan of the whole museum, reading everything within the designated area, then moving to address injuries that hadn't already been handled by either Lifelight or Matt.

Re: Weston Museum

His voice remains steady and calm, simply stating a fact.  There is no indication if what he says is from amusement or annoyance.

"I would not say I 'took charge', Miss Adventure.  I am merely the one who spoke up.  Being in charge would imply trust I have not earned or experience I have not proven to have."

There was almost the slightest flinch at the side of his lip that would hint at a smile beginning to form before it fades from pre-existence.

Turning to Captain Hanson he inclines his head briefly, showing respect.

"A decent comparison, but I am my own person.  I kept my city safe for four years before I came here.  I was training to protect people for most of my life, though with focus for the last eight years.  For a while I was split between EMT or CSI as a field of study.  I had a working relationship with the local Police, something I hope to be able to continue here.  Unfortunately due to my situation, I can not put you in touch with the Commissioner that could vouch for my claims, or the man who trained me.

I only have theories for now.  This could have been a feint to gauge who would respond to an attack.  The statue of the goddess could have energy associated with it and if someone read an inscription from it, could have released that energy.  Worship and ceremony can build up energy that remains for centuries.  If it was recently added, the energy could have simply finally seeped into the corpses to reanimate them.  By the same token, someone in the library could have been reading an old scroll or tome.

The mummies did not seem, intilligent or controlled by someone else.  They were simply striking out at warm bodies with a singular focus.  Only changing their focus with substantial force being applied.  Those are of course not the only options, just three theories I can think of off the top of my head.  There may be totems in the area as well, hidden away and dropped as a timer or they could be in the mummies themselves, though that seems unlikely due to their numbers."

He keeps an eye on the other goings on, watching as Meg steps through the portal and starts helping.  He doesn't write off the Curator as a potential suspect just yet, though he doesn't voice that opinion, especially in his proximity.

She presses the Maggie button and the room Maggie was last in is seen as though through Maggie's eyes. "If you press it again, it will show you her GPS location."

Lifelight presses the button again to show Maggie's GPS location. Then says, "The Lifelight button will bring up Lifelight." she presses the button and Seraph can see herself through Lifelight's eyes. "If you press it again, it will show you her GPS location." and presses the button again, showing their location.

Lifelight can be methodical. She sips her shake.

Re: Weston Museum

It's so hard to associate the word "can't" with Matt in Mittens' mind.  But yeah, "can't" eat vs. "doesn't need to" eat is something that could slip her mind in all this excitement.  Or perhaps the gifted vanilla shake was intended for Matt to use as ammo for breaking the ice should anyone be disturbed by the Monstrosity-With-A-Side-Of-Slide-Whistle again.  The world may never know.

Mits blushes from the diplomatic response from Lady Psyche and she does her best to salute in a dignified manner in response.  "Yes mam!"

To Big Mac she nod and smiles slyly.  "Mittens wouldn't know anything about obvious nicknames."

Carry a light-hearted nickname and the badguys tend to underestimate you.  Never fails.  Until you do gritty for so long even something as silly as "The Bat-Man" is taken seriously.  (( https://screenrant.com/wp-cont...-art-by-Bob-Kane.jpg "Haha what a silly name!  Wait... is he swinging using a garrote?!" ))  And practically worshiped by an aspiring heroine who gave herself an animal-themed name as well.

Mits nods to Detective Charlton.  "Dealing with loss is rough even without the weight of a renowned crime-fighter on your shoulders.  If I bump into him, I'll do my best to at least not make things worse."

No matter how many times Miss Adventure successfully navigates the turbulent waters of a grieving hero's broken heart, the most credit she ever gives herself is, 'Well at least I managed to not make it worse.'  Messed up too many times as a kid to accept she's not an emotional bull in a china shop as an adult.

"And as you can see, Daystar is amazing in many verifiable ways!  His theories are smarter than most folks' carefully calculated conclusions.  As for credentials, I myself can vouch for personally perceiving plenty of particulars that speak for themselves.  Heroically helping to save the day just now, for example.  And then there's the modesty.  Your actions have more than earned my trust and respect, Daystar."

Mits watches the heart-meltingly warm exchange between Lifelight and Serena with an endearing smile.  And takes mental note that she has some ammo to defend speaking in third person.  There's nothing at all wrong with it if even a cute-face like Lifelight refers to herself in the third person.  Funny the kinds of nitpicks people nitpick heroes over.  Much as she wants to answer the "inadequate" bit, it'll probably be more meaningful coming from Lifelight.  Still...  Mits has an angelic hand puppet for just such an occasion.

"Hey cap! You might wanna take a look at this." The big detective called from across the room, standing in front of one of the exhibition cases. Thanks to Matt the broken glass of all the exhibits had returned to its original shape, but the one "Big Mack" stood in front of was different than the others in that it was empty. "Looks like whomever started this grabbed a party favor too.

  Well, at least the Curator won't have to watch as his stuff gets resmashed in the name of forensics.  It bothers his sensibilities, but in a very boring personal preference way.  Rather than his hypocritical instincts to 'put up with' others playing with reality in even the most benign of ways.

  "It's always nice to have someone who already knows what to look for in these matters" He comments, as he remakes a mess of things.

  You've heard those lazy speeches about 'your mind filters out the strange and horrible to protect you'? For Matt it's more like how you are always seeing the nose in front of your face, but your instincts consider it a waste of time to process that even as you take action using that information.

  Little wonder Matt still values those reliant on sensory organs or a few extra categories to work with beyond simple humility. They will find Waldo while you are finding his lost luggage, his dog, and-Hey this museum carpet was made in 1975.
