Ozzy nodded and said, "This can be arranged. Thanks, guys, for taking these things off our hands. C'mon, love, let's go see if we can't give the NPA a black eye or two."

Re: Weston P.D.

She giggled at the goggled cops, and unjarred the mouse, then made a tugging moth, revealing the 'mouse' to be a mutant who looked like a shorter, and neon yellow shaded version of Ozzy.  She said "I hit him with a dose of tranqs, so he should be docile, thanks for keeping them out of trouble until they sober up.". She then snagged Ozzy's hand, and said "Con't let me prickle you right now, love, or you'll end up spaced out on Xanax too."

She held up one hand, those claws sparkling with drops of clear stuff, instead of the usual pink, and said "Feel free to dispell, I had to do each hand individually, the spell is a pain in the neck since I don't have the chemical formula for Xanax stuck in my head.  But it sure calmed HIM down fast when I got him with them.". Fast and dirty indeed!

Ozzy grinned and dispelled the spell that was turning her mutagen into tranquilizers, and said, "I'm just glad you're okay. I hate it when you get hurt. But, then again, I know that that's gonna happen, now that you're out in the field with me. Still, you never fail to impress, love."

She smiled, tapping her little tattoo so she switched to her human form as she held his hand, answering with "I regenerate too now, which should always hold me until you can get me to Meg.  You ready to take me driving again, since Driver's Ed got cancelled?"

Ozzy nodded and said, "Yeah, I guess we can. I kinda wanted to go with Dragon Fist and the others, but... I dunno. I'm too angry. I'd break people that didn't need breaking. Probably best if I don't go."

She nodded, and said "Fair enough.  Oooo, did I catch an announce on your mindworm?"  She tilted her head, still holding onto his hand, and arched an eyebrow at him.  Seeing Penny's daughter WOULD be a good antidote to assininity from the NPA.

Re: Weston P.D.

Not wishing to interfere with any helicopters the Police may have, he disembarks from the Osprey about a block away, at a decent height to allow his suit to glide the rest of the way.  Both he and the craft are cloaked.  He is early so he takes the brief amount of time he has to get the lay of the land quickly.  A very small camera is taken from his utility belt and placed in such a way that it can see the primary roof access without being in direct line of sight.  Continuing a quick look he chooses a spot to wait giving him ease of viewing of other points of potential roof access but in such a way the door opening or hand would be visible before they would see him.

Still cloaked, he waits.  Though he realizes it would not hide him from Captain Hanson's abilities.  More for the covertness of this meeting.

It would not do to have some random person dressed as he was simply standing on the roof in open view.

The police captain stood on the edge of the roof, a cigarette between her fingers. She briefly glanced in Daystar's direction then turned back to watching the street below. "You know, you're very hard to read. Even your surface thoughts are....slippery." She takes a long drag before continuing. "So do you want to go first, or should I?"

"I was trained by the best, or it could simply be a side effect of the situation I find myself in.  Either way, it would be best for you to go first.  I sat on my laurels too long, so we may have the same information."

Once he is sure that area for now is clear, he lets the cloaking device shut off.  Though he keeps the controls at the ready to set it back on should they get any guests.  His suit is a far cry from the Bomber Jacket and makeshift disguise he wore at the Museum, now was as good as time as any for a proper introduction.

Re: Weston P.D.

The Former superhero looked like she was going to continue that line of questioning, but let it hang. "As I said earlier, I have a heavy caseload. We've been following the standard procedures on stolen property, banging on all the regular doors. The problem is those procedures are designed with the idea that the perp is going to sell his ill gotten goods, things work different when their planning to USE it for something. That's when it gets tricky." She paused, taking another drag of her cigarette.

"So you take another angle, first you dig into the past, check M.O.s, see if there was anyone with similar style, powers, etc. If it's a known criminal you can get an idea of what they might do or what their goals might be. If it's similar enough to someone else it might be a protege or family member following in their footsteps. That gives you more options.

That was another dead end, only necromancy incident Weston has seen was summoning spirits instead of animating corpses. I doublechecked it anyway, went to see the guy in the honeycomb. Says he got the book from an old shop called Virgil's. Check that out too, guy says he hasn't sold any books on necromancy in years, stopped carrying them in fact, but he never did get that book back or find out what happened to it.

That's interesting, and points to a larger pattern, but not much help on it's own. So that leaves the waiting game, watching the cases that come in, and reviewing what you know. Which frankly is not much, we're dealing with an unknown, a new player with magic powers more than likely learned from a book that went missing from a crime scene years ago." She pauses again for another drag.

"Which brings me to last night, when I get called down to the clubhouse of local biker gang 'The Dark Angels', to find a slaughter. Every single one of them dead, most of them literally ripped limb from limb, but one guy was burned alive in a localized spot, and another had no discernible wounds on him, and the real kicker? They found decaying flesh at the scene."

Re: Weston P.D.

"That it is local is at least a relief.  If that book has anything to do with it.  Spirits and Corporeal undead seem rather different.  Still given the item that was stolen, time to study and to locate the item makes sense.  I have it on good authority that it was the Necklace of Osiris.  A harmless object on its own, like a block of C4 without heat and pressure.  It amplifies Necromatic magic.  So one option was our suspect knew what they were going for and used magic to act as a diversion in order to acquire the object.  Or it was a mixture of testing to see if it was the real Necklace of Osiris, not simply a fabrication made by ancient worshipers for appearances or a mislabeled artifact by an Archeologist more interested in his own fortune than truth.  If they tested other artifacts before with a low level incantation in the last few years since acquiring the book, while there was no subsequent attack there could have been reports or even videos taken of the dead beginning to animate but not coming to fruition.

I heard some witnesses saying they heard someone comment on the mummies starting to move before they actually busted through the glass.  Could have been the Necklace taking time to work or it could just be how the dead reanimate.  Knowing more about what information was in that book would be helpful.

As for the biker gang, likely same suspect, experimenting with the abilities of how the Necklace has augmented their abilities perhaps?  Where exactly was their clubhouse?  If there are any members that were not there, they may know something about who came visiting.  I find it difficult to believe someone would just walk into a clubhouse no matter how they were armed without taking time to observe and maybe inadvertently making themselves known, first.  I understand why they may not have spoken openly with the police.  If you are sure every member is accounted for though, there are friends and family of course."

There was that sense that he had dealt with the criminal underground before in avenues police would not be able to take, though his voice softens just a little when he mentions the family.  People still maybe not willing to speak with the police, but capable of talking with others.

Re: Weston P.D.

"It's possible it's a red herring, Virgil told me he wasn't the only 'dealer in mystical antiquities' in town, some of them into the shadier stuff. But I haven't had a chance to track them down. I could give you the names if you like. And we're still identifying the bodies, so it'll be some time before I can give you a list of who's dead and who's not, but I can give you the families names and addresses."

Re: Weston P.D.

"I would be happy to help in any way that I can with this investigation.  I can imagine people in the shadier aspects, they would not exactly make it easy for people to find them.  I will keep in contact as well."

It was one of those surface thoughts that actually managed to take shape and stick this time.  It would be clear this was not the first police station rooftop meeting he had had.  In fact it would seem he was all to cliche'ly used to it.  An unfamiliar skyline would be the back drop along with a very large spotlight, though the lens would be facing away from him.  The man he was speaking to was in his late 50's to early 60's and he was wearing a rather heavy full length coat.  A full suit, complete with tie could be seen through the opening.  A pair of glasses rest on his face.

This thought takes hold far longer than any other image or surface thought, though it is just as quickly dismissed and pushed away as he focuses on the here and now.

The Captain nodded and handed him a list of names and addresses. "The families, see what you can find out. I don't have any contacts in the magical community right now, so you're on your own for that one." She dropped her ciggarette to the floor crushing it under her heel, her face potraying no emotion as the image made it's way into her head. She had plenty of practice keeping a neutral face when stray thoughts came her way, but this was a bit...different. It wasn't like the mental defenses she was used to.

Re: Weston P.D.

Taking the list of names he looks it over.  There was just the slightest tremble to his hand as he reads over the names.  This part of the job was never easy.

"Between the crime scene, the families and maybe a visit to Virgil; as well as keeping an ear to the police scanner, I am sure I can help take a little of the load off your shoulders here."

A quiet beat.

"At the Museum, you compared me to Hunter.  I can certainly understand the comparison.  Still if we are working together, I would rather information about myself comes from me and not from looking into me through others.  I was not trained by Hunter, or anyone you likely have had any dealings with."  There is a soft sigh, the slightest hint of humor mixed by annoyance.  "Or maybe you have.  Who knows who's paths we cross in this life.  I have no references to give you as to my experience or training, but I do thank you for trusting me with this much.  Meta... Parahumans and Vigilantes are not always treated with trust the first time they are encountered at a Crime Scene.  Even more rarely when they request a meeting with a Police Captain with a heavy case load already."
