Interesting post there, how did you manage to bypass the locked gate/door?

Re: OOC

What locked gate? I don't see anything about a locked gate. I see a description of a boy chained to the ceiling 12 feet in the air. What am I missing?

Re: OOC

You are not in the cell where the boy  is chained. There is a locked metal bar door between you and the boy.

Re: OOC

Oh. Is he behind the door? I must have misunderstood the description. In that case, I'll just flying leap/falcon punch the lock instead of the chains, if that's alright by Dragondog.

Re: OOC

Are the metal bars and chain steel? Would it be easy to remove them from the wall? They could bring us a tidy profit.

Re: OOC

It could very well be steel, but likely not easy to remove. It's supposed to be secure after all.

You can use force to try to open the door. I'll look into the details on that.

Re: OOC

Damage to Objects is p. B483, and Object Hit Points and Structural Damage tables are p. B558.

If I'm trying to break through steel bars, I would definitely be aiming at hinges or something that would allow us to bypass the door without breaking it. (Breaking the door would take a lot more damage.)

For example, typical 1/2" steel bars have DR 11 and HP 22. Based on my 31(5) crushing damage:

DR 11/5 = 2
31 - 2 = 29

Since the object is treated as brittle, that's enough to break off any "limbs" (though, I'm not sure what the door/bar equivalent of a limb is), and—if the object fails its HT roll—enough to disable the mechanism.

If it's not enough, I'll most definitely do that move again. ^_^

Re: OOC

To be clear. Only one bar has been broken. The door is still closed and locked.

Re: OOC

So was it simply impossible to target the locking mechanism and/or a hinge?

You missed the lock and hit the bar. I edited my post to make that clearer.

There are four chains holding him to the ceiling. One per limb.

Re: OOC

For those of you that wonder, Grettanah has changed her character to include a gigantic Dwarven Ally. So he's part of the group now.

Ok, I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering. Is her ally a dwarf with gigantism or a giant with dwarfism?

The former, which was why I capitalized the D in Dwarven.

At least I didn't wonder if it was a giant allied with dwarves that was somehow included in her character.

Yes, D'aden is secretly Batman.  =)

Did I mention that Olven is interested in becoming a blackguard?  =)
