Re: The Lyceum (main)

Olven reaches into the backpack and pulls out the man's money pouch, looking inside it.  "More for the king, I suppose," he says.

To D'aden, he says, "Not every deadly weapon is deadly in every hand.  That wolf that stalked us in the city, for instance, would have had little need for a sword like this."

Olven Wolf:
Olven eyes the sword dubiously.  "Can you tell if that's a cursed sword, Tarhall?" he asks.  "This would certainly qualify as helping Kalaman, I suppose, though one of you might want to put in a claim for it.  If it's not cursed, we should take it along with us."  He checks the man's backpack to see what it contains.

"I could use the two handed sword, though I am more proficient with Broadsword and Shield.  But if it's magical properties are benenifical to an advantage.  I may well consider using it in battle, if no one else can make use of it."

"Yeah, I prefer a Broadsword and shield myself.  I'd be a tad clumsy with that two-hander."  Olven picks up the sword and hands it over to the knight.  "Maybe we should drop off our collection of gear with Jarlianthas' men, then continue our exploration?  Or should we press on for now?"

Taking the twohand sword, he dothed it's shoulder harness, making the adjustment needed.  So it fitted correctly and he could draw it over his left shoulder.

"Thank you Master Wolf. Tarhall, I guess we will need to wait to discovered the magical properties of this blade at more auspicious time."

Re: The Lyceum (main)

Olven Wolf nods his head.  "Maybe tonight, when we make camp for the evening."  His stomach growls, and he takes out some of his trail rations, a handful of dried meat, and pops it in his mouth, chewing.

"I take it we're not staying in here overnight, right?  We can bivouac outside near the entrance."  He heads back toward the main hall.  "Sarah, would you please check these doors out here?

OOC:  So that's the two doors in the main corridor we haven't explored yet.

Sarah opened the door to the left and rows of rough wooden tables and benched filled the room. There were strange stains on several tables. And there was another door at the other side of the room.

IC: Kar followed the motions of Sarah closely and then peered into the room that she had revealed. Simple benches and tables occupied the room and had some noticeable discolouration. Kar stepped closer to investigate and scan the room quickly.

In response to Olven, Kar spoke "We can make a camp whereever is most suitable? What do you think?" He asked the group in general.

"Outside might give us a better chance of finding food..." He continued.

OOC: I'd have written more, but i['m not sure 100% what's going on or how Kar is supposed to be.. so i'll just ease myself into the role gently :)

Olven leans over to take a tentative sniff of the stains.  "Doesn't look like much is in here," he says.  "Let's check out the area north of the library."

His spear in hand, he returns to the hall.  "Kar, I figure we can just make camp where we left tr wagon and Jarlianthas' men.  Should be safe enough out there."

OOC:  When everyone's ready, we can move on to the area north of the library.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

On Tarhall's order, the statue opened the door at the end of the corridor. Inside five draconians stood around a butchering table, in what clearly was a kitchen. And tide to that table was a kender.

Draconians, with butchering knives in their hands, were clearly preparing for dinner.

[OOC: I failed to mention that there was another door in the previous room. It was on the map, but it wasn't mentioned in the text. I have amended that now.]

[What do you do? The statue is in the doorway, the rest of you are outside. On the "south" side, as the map isn't necessarily oriented with north at the top Anyone with the appropriate skill could likely have determined, or at least tried to determine, what direction that is.]

[And anytime now would be a good time to rest for the night as well.]

The situation in front of him is odd enough to overcome his usual thoughtful approach to life. So D'aden shoots before he speaks.
Though after the arrow is let fly he can be heard saying "...sorry, so sorry, my fault, won't happen again, so sorry..." repeatedly.

Skill with bow is 17, 11:18, Today: D'aden Tor VIII rolled 12 using 3d6. shoot past statue at draconian butcher. 11:32, Today: D'aden Tor VIII rolled 6 using 1d6+2. arrow damage. (impaling)

Re: The Lyceum (main)

IC: It all happened quickly and Kar sighed with the whistling of an arrow aimed towards one of the Draconian. A kender was restrained on the table, ready to be cut down and butchered for food. Kar's choice was simple enough as his heartstrings were tugged by his imagining of the kender's gaze wishing for help. It appealed to his sense of honour too. Restrained and outnumbered there clearly was nothing in the way of fairness here and so Kar suspected that it was fortuitous that the party turned up when they did.

Kar felt his throat dry with anticipation, looking at the sharp knives, but felt it necessary to first ensure his party's well-being. He stepped closer to Sarah and gestured for her to step to the back <Purple>"Please stand back Sarah, I would not wish harm upon you..."</Purple he spoke while moving out to the side of the room, positioning himself between the force of Draconics and his ally.

A quick tightening of grip on his staff reminded Kar that it was still to hand as his eyes darted between the scaly butchers in an attempt to notice their intentions.

His spear gripped in his two hands, Olven waits for the draconians to see them and charge (he hopes).  The previous group of dracs they had fought had been a tough bunch, and their damnable tendency to turn to stone after they died was inconvenient to say the least.

"Hang on, fella," he calls out to the kender strapped to the table.  "The cavalry has arrived!"

OOC:  Hold Spear in 2-H grip, Reach 2.  Wait.

Turn 1

While Owain spoke with Tarhall, D'aden fired his bow and hit one of the draconians (R3).

"Attack the draconians," Tarhall ordered and the golem moved forward and pummeled the same one with a powerful fist.

Followed by Olven who went in the other direction, while Kar switched places with Sarah.

Seeing the golem attacking them caused some confusion among the draconians who looked at each other, but did nothing.

D'aden whips an arrow from his quiver and calmly nocks it to prepare another shot, and covers the door.
"Take care, these dracs seem too quiet to not be planning something."

OOC: use fast draw skill to reduce time between firing and perform ready maneuver for longbow, then perform wait maneuver to shoot any draconian that enters the doorway right between the eyes, that means this turn is consumed with the ready, and until something changes he'll watch the door.

"What's that look for?  You rode here on a horse, didn't you?"  Grinning, Olven moves toward the nearest Draconian, spear-tip first, and hopes the Draconian gets the point.

Take a step back, and Attack the nearest Drac.

IC: Kar was a little suspicious that the Draconians had not yet moved to attack, or even defend themselves. Something didn't sit right with him. He held his staff in a ready grip and glanced around looking for something out of place, but not committing to any attack. They were, afterall, just having their dinner.

Even though his helping nature pulled at him as the kender struggled on the table Kar still felt ill-at-ease with a surprise attack. The draconians were barely armed.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

Turn 2
D’aden rapidly drew and nocked an arrow.

With a Solamnic battle cry on his lips, Owain moved into the room and swung his sword at one of the draconians, but he missed.

Olven stepped back and thrusted his spear forward, draconian scales doing nearly nothing to stop his thrust.

Kar adopted a defensive stance and kept his eyes on the draconians.

Tarhall moved into the room too and Sarah turned around to get a better look at what was behind them. While the statue bashed the draconian again and brought it to the ground.

The draconian Owain had attacked, but missed, turned towards him and attacked with his meat cleaver. But Owain dodged nimbly. The draconian behind him moved up too and his meat cleaver connected but was unable to penetrate Owain’s clothing.

The remaining two draconians focused on the statue, but their attacks didn’t seem to have any effect.

The statue does impressive work.  Even Olven is curious to see it in combat, but he quickly focuses his attention on the draconian in front of him.  Once more, Olven thrusts forward, aiming for the Draconian closest to him.  "Can you, I don't know, run or something?" he calls out to the kender on the table.

OOC:  Deceptive Attack -2 to skill/-1 to defend.
