Re: Flashpoint

OOC: Blast, not only does that bring me down to 10 hp, it also knocks me down the CT!

Jaken began to cry.  He knew there was nothing else he could do.  If he stayed he would die.  There were just too many of them.  Jaken withdrew and then ran (as in move action ran, not full action ran).

OOC No, the two attacks totaled 18, it was 10 + 8.  No dropping down the Condition Track.  You can change it if you want to.

Either way, Jaken's still down to 10 hp and still takes the same actions.  I will update his character sheet to not include the -1 CT though.

Re: Flashpoint

Jaken didn't have to run far before the roaring engines of The Last Resort could be heard.

"ELBEE, CARGO: JAKEN," shouted the voice of Marn over the din.  "DESTINATION: THE LAST RESORT."

Elbee swooped out of the ship and onto the ground, plowing through Mandalorian troops as he did so.  He picked up Jaken and prepulsed himself back onto the ship, landing on the ramp next to Marn.

OOC: If Jaken weren't so depressed, I think he would say: "I can see we're going to be using that trick for a while."  Instead:
"Jarael, they've got Jarael," he informed Marn.  "We've got to save her!"

OOC: Depending on what happens next, he's going to say "Where's Rohlan Dyre?" and storm off to confront him and ask if he betrayed them.  So, if that works, and you want to speed things up, just go ahead and add it to your next post.

Re: Flashpoint

"We will kid," Marn said, pulling Jaken on board.  "But we need to get all of us to safety."

After getting all situated Jaken searched out Rohlan and cornered him.

"Don't look at me," Rohlan said; he was tied up and being guarded by Camper.

"Did you give away our position before you engaged us?  Or did you betray our deal while you were 'taking apart' your basilisk droid?" Jaken pressed.

"Look, I'm trying to get away from the Mandalorians," Rohlan said.  "Well, sort of."

"All right, all right," Jaken said calming himself down.  "But if you still want our help, you'll help us free our friend.  I'm pretty sure I know where they're taking her: Flashpoint Station."

"Makes sense," Rohlan said.  "It's our closest station.  You'll need to be careful, and a reason to be there."

"Does that station often need supplies?" Jaken asked.

"Yes, it goes through a lot of supplies," Rohlan replied.  "And we have the perfect in.  A Mandalorian scientist named Demagol performs experiments on Jedi."

"I hope you're not thinking what I think you're thinking." Jaken paused. "Although it's probably a better cover than what I was going to use."  Jaken thought about it.  Jarael had sacrificed a lot to save him, he should do the same for her.  "All right, so you're bringing me in as a way to get back in the good graces of the Mandalorians."

"What about the rest of the crew?  Why are you bringing them along?  Did they help you capture me?  Are they your ride?"~

"The rest of the crew will be hidden," Rohlan explained.

"That works," Jaken admitted.  "Do they act as backup then, or as a surprise?"

"Surprise," Rohlan explained.

"Sounds good.  Let's get going then." Jaken said.

The plan was easier said than done however.  A Mandalorian flotilla was on their tail right now and Troy was doing his best in between coughs to keep them from getting blasted to bits.

Re: Flashpoint

Rohlan wasn't happy with shooting down fellow Mandalorians, but he wasn't in a position to stop Jaken.  Breaking apart from the flotilla a group of fighters followed by a gunship caught up with the damaged freighter.  Jaken used The Last Restort's gun to destroy one fighter, but not before the fighter dealt a heavy hit.

The loss of the fighter seemed to turn the battle oddly in Jaken's favour.  Throughout the rest of the brief skirmish he was the only one to land a hit, severely damaging the gunship before they jumped into hyperspace.

Once in hyperspace the crew laid out their plan for sneaking into the Flashpoint station.  Jaken was made-up to look beaten while Camper, Gryph and Troy were shoved into a hidden compartment with falsely disabled Elbee sitting on top.

Upon arrival Rohlan managed to bluff his way into a landing and subsequently into the station itself, claiming to have captured the young Jaken.

Re: Flashpoint

Rohlan dragged Jaken up the hallway that led to the holding area for the prisoners.  There a tall, thin, creepy-looking Mandalorian scientist was standing over Jarael, holding her by the hair and looking at her intently.  Nearby was a red armoured Jedi who Jaken thought he might have recognized, provided he get a better look.  Other injured Jedi were lying around the room.

"Demagol!" Rohlan shouted at the tall Mandalorian scientist.  "I've got your next subject!"

Jaken was truly scared, which he hoped helped.  He shouted "No way!" And struggled harder.  He tried to make sure he didn't give away that he knew Jarael.

"Do not bother me with Younglings, warrior," Demagol said, upon seeing Jakens protests.

"He's all Knight," Rohlan insisted.  "Nearly broke my neck stopping him.  Set him up Doc - I want to see him hurt.  BAD."

"In time Warrior," Demagol replied, placatingly, fondling Jaraels hair.  "I have plans for the young lady first."

"I've got a war to get back to," Rohlan spat, dragging Jaken into the interrogation chambers anyway.  "We do this now!"

"Very well, then," Demagol sighed.  "To the laboratory."

Rohlan securely tied Jaken upside down in the hold device as Demagol walked in.  They conversed briefly and Demagol admitted to recognizing Rohlan as the "Runner".  Rohlan replied that he contributed to the 'cause' in his own way, just like Demagol.

"You appear less hardy than the others," Demagol said to Jaken, once his conversation was over with Rohlan (who remained in the room).  "Perhaps we should START with vivisection?"

Jaken hoped that Rohlan wasn't truly betraying him.  He tried to remain defiant.  "You don't know who you're messing with," he said.  "I escaped 5 Jedi Masters on Taris and have them running scared too."

"Then I guess that only speaks of the prowess of my friend here," Demagol replied.

"You have no idea," Rohlan said, as he swung a heavy cudgel at Demagol, knocking him out.

"Whew," Jaken sighed.  "For a minute there, I thought you were truly betraying me.  Thanks for that.  Can you help me out of these things.  I feel pretty ridiculous and helpless being upside down."

"It was necessary for a moment," Rohlan explained.  "A Mandalorian is still a Mandalorian, even if he's a scientist."

"Get changed," Rohlan said, taking Demagols helmet off and tossing it to Jaken.

"I can't fit in this," Jaken pointed out.  "That guy is like twice my size."

Jaken put on the helmet as Rohlan decked Jaken out in armour his size which vaguely resembles Demagol.

"Well I hope I look slightly less ridiculous than I feel."  He paused for dramatic effect.  "All right, let's go save us an Arkanian." Jaken said.

"Too bad, Demagol," Rohlan said as the two of you entered the prisoners chamber.  "I thought he'd last longer.  I must have beaten most of the life out of him on his ship."

"No," whispered the red armoured Jedi.

"ANIMAL!" Jarael screamed as she lunged at Jaken, grabbing him by the neck and knocking both of them to the floor.

"Guards, get this filthy creature off of me," Jaken commanded in his deepest voice possible.  Rohlan grabbed Jarael and threw her over to where the injured Jedi lay.  Jaken finally got a chance to identify him; it was Alek.

"I'd like to watch you deal with her later Demagol," Rohlan said, helping Jaken up.  "But how about that tour of the camp you promised me."

Jarael sat up with a stunned look on her face as she looked at Jaken while he left.

Rohlan walked Jaken back outside and into the landing field where they ship was finished being inspected.  The two of them walked up to the security officers and demanded a report, careful to have them facing away from the bottom docking ring where Elbee's hand reached out and placed the bag of charges they had saved on the ground.

"Very good then men, dismissed." Jaken said (if he can dismiss them.)

Having sufficiently convinced the guards of his identity Jaken and Rohlan continued to look at the captured ship, the back of charges sitting in the ships shadow.  The guards walked off, back to their patrols of the area.

Jaken very casually strolled over to the area of the ship where the bag was, pretending to admire the ship and picked up the bag with the Force.  Jaken successfully pulled the bag to his hands.

Jaken Used the Force to propel the little charges around the camp; sending them whizzing through the air, near the ground so as to avoid detection (successfully I might add).  Once finished Jaken gave the thumbs up to Elbee.

As Jaken and Rohlan strolled across the landing area they suddenly heard the sound of proximity alarms.  Rohlan quickly dashed into the nearby comm station where the fuzzy holographic image of Marn dressed in a Republic Admirals uniform stood.

"--calling any Mandalorian on Flashpoint who'll listen--" he said.  Rohlan picked up the transmitter and tapped in a reply.

"--Admiral Hierogryph of the Republic Cruiser Glomkettle here.  Don't look for us on your scopes -- We won't be here that long.  See we've gotten used to your habit of using other people's stations and equipment.  Resourceful, living off others' supplies like that.

"Well, this time we supplied you with something else."  Marn lifted a control up from his belt and pressed the button on it.  Outside in the landing area the Solar Shield Generator exploded.  "I bet Flashpoint sure seemed easy to conquer, didn't it?  Just a little reasearch station, lightly defended...Well, once you assaulted Vanquo we figured it was time to run the line and try out our new style of hospitality.  Here, have some seconds..."

Another explosion rocked the camp as another explosion near the shield generator went off.

"Blast you, Hierogryph!" Rohlan exclaimed as legitimately as possible. "Show yourself and fight!"

"Don't look for the enemy, pal," Marn replied.  "You're sitting on it."

Another explosion went off, this time a stolen Republic shuttle.

"Whoops!  Wrong one!  Oh, did I mention we've started to build the same 'hospitality' into all the Republic ships you might swipe?  Sun's rising boys.  I'd be someplace shielded before it does."

The line cut out.

The troops began to scramble to their ships, Rohlan directing them away from the 'rigged' Republic shuttles.  No one seemed to worry about the Jedi prisoners, they were all too worried about getting out of the base before it exploded too.

"Now it's really time for us to rescue an Arkanian." Jaken said.  "And that other Jedi.  He's a friend of mine from a while back." He ran for the holding area.

"Go!" Rohlan called out to a nearby sentry who looked surprised to see Demagol running INTO the station.  "You've got to get to Mand'alor and tell him about this new tactic the Republic is using!  I'll try to get the doctor out in that little ship I came in -- if we survive!"

The Mandalorians piled onto their ship and quickly took off into space.  Once inside the wary Jedi looked surprised to see Rohlan and Jaken return.

"They all left, what's going on here," demanded a feline Jedi.

"Well everyone, today is your lucky day," Jaken started, keeping his armor on.  "The solar shield generator has been destroyed." He let their hopes drop, before he removed the helmet and said, "And we're bustin' out of here."

Jaken released Jarael.  "Didn't think I was that easy to get rid of did you?"

Then he released Alec.  "Good to see you again, even if the roles are reversed."

Then he continued releasing the rest of them.  Jarael looked happy to see Jaken and so did Alek.

"I knew you were destined for great things kid," Alek replied, shaking Jakens hand in thanks.

"I'll get Demagol," Rohlan said.  "He's still in the 'med' bay."

"No need to hurry," the feline Jedi said.  "The station is safe from the solar radiation, just not the landing area.  So we can't get to our ships, which will be fine as well."

"What do you mean it will be fine?" Jaken asked.  "Don't you want to get out of here?"

"The ships will be fine," the Jedi replied.  "Trust me, I want to get out of here more than you do.  It'll only be a couple of hours, more," another of the Jedi explained.

"Very well then," Jaken conceded. "We wait it out.  We'll need to comm Marn and the others to tell them what's going on and to stay in the ship."

Re: Flashpoint

Having waited the time for the planet to rotate away from the sun, the Jedi went outside to board the shuttles.  The feline Jedi returned Jaken's lightsaber.

"If you've got any more of those charges, Jaken, we'll blow this place when we leave," Alek said.

Jaken tossed Alek the bag with the remaining charges and headed back to the Last Resort.  Rohlan was pushing Demagol out of the base.

"Well, we'd leave you here, but I think we'll have more fun with you on the way back to Coruscant," Alek said.

Demagol didn't respond.

"What's wrong with him?" Alek asked.

"I had to hit him a few times while getting him suited back up," Rohlan explained.

"You just had to, huh?" Jaken responded sarcastically.  "Not that I blame you."  He paused and thought for a moment.  "Still, we should be careful.  If we treat our prisoners even half as good as the Mandos treat theirs, the Senate might get upset that we're torturing them.  Best not to leave any loopholes for justice."

"You're lucky it wasn't me Demagol," Alek said grimly.

"We'll have better accommodations for you, though," Alek said to Rohlan.

"Uh, that wasn't what I had in mind," Rohlan protested.

"You don't mean you want to take him with *us*, do you?" Jaken said.  "What would we do with him?  I mean, we could get information out of him, but it'd be better if he could give that info straight to the people on the main front."

"I guess I'll board and tend to Demagol," Rohlan said, then stalked off.

"Not even a goodbye," Alek said.  "Mandies, who can figure them."

"I guess not even I can," Jaken answered.  He had hoped that, as brief as their time together had been, that he had formed a closer bond to Rohlan.  At least enough of a one to warrant a good-bye.  He shrugged.  ""I have a question for you Alek.  How did they subdue *you* and keep you subdued?"

"There was a whole squad of them assaulting the planet," Alek replied.  "I was holding them off so that the rest of the Jedi could escape.  I fainted from bloodloss.  I was weak from then on while they hauled me back here.  They made sure to keep me that way.  Hard to recover with no food or water."

"Yes, I understand.  I was just surprised. You're very strong in the Force as well as physically intimidating.  I was just curious.  Well, good luck on your next endeavor."  Jaken turned to head back to the Last Resort.

"So where to now?" Troy asked as Jaken came back.

"Is there a reason you just gave away that suit?" Marn asked Jarael testily in the background.  "We could have used it."

"Alek needed a spacesuit, there were only so many in the base," Jarael explained, folding her arms across her chest.  It was only then that Jaken realized that Alek had been wearing the same kind of red spacesuit that Jaken and the other Padawans had been wearing on that asteroid training mission.

"Wait a minute," Jaken said aloud.  "No, it can't be," he continued under his breath.  Jaken didn't know how to look into the future, and anyway he didn't trust the visions much after what the way the Masters on Taris had interpreted their vision, but still...There was something about the way Alek had talked about having fun with Demagol.

But Alek was a Jedi Knight.  Dedicated to peace and justice.  And as far as Jaken was concerned had made the right move by taking the fight to the Mandalorians.  The Jedi were supposed to defend the Republic after all.  If Alek could turn to the Dark Side as easily as the Masters on Taris had, then things were really turning upside down.
"Is there a way for us to track that suit?" Jaken asked, breaking out of his train of thought.

"Huh?" Troy asked.  "Uh, well I guess we could track it.  If we register its comlink signature into the ship and..."

"Do it," Jaken said.

Jaken tried to remember the Taris Academy Masters' visions (that's what I'm trying to look up).  He wasn't sure if there was a particular order in which the visions were fulfilled, but he doubted they had seen the order, or if they had, that Elbee had caught it on his recording.

Jaken started remembering the visions...

If Taris was ever in ruins, he would follow up on Alek if he went there.  Or if he went to Master Feln's homeworld of Odryn.  It would be harder to do Master Xamar's since Alek surely visited many ships.  So unless Jaken could find out when Master Xamar started wearing an uniform and track him too...Master Tey's would prove equally difficult, as Alek was at Coruscant all the time.

Jaken would just have to do his best.

"Oh, sorry," Jaken said.  "I got sidetracked.  We'll we've successfully infiltrated and destroyed one Mando base.  How do we help the war effort next.  Hmmm...." Jaken thought for a minute.

"Well, I suppose it's hard to help in the war effort in the financial condition that we're currently in.  We need to find a way to earn some money.  Anybody got any ideas?" Jaken hoped that Jarael, Troy, or even Camper would answer before Marn.  He was slightly scared of what Marn would suggest.  "Nothing illegal." He added, just in case.

"I think we'd better skip my profession then," Troy volunteered.

"Scavenging only earns so much," Jarael replied.

"If we could unlock my accounts-" Marn started to suggest.

"That in and of itself borders on illegal," Jaken pointed out.  "Is any of the money in any of your accounts legit?" he asked.

"The money itself isn't illegal," Marn replied evasively.

"That's not what I asked," Jaken replied, but he could see that Marn wasn't going to easily admit to it.

Jaken sighed.  "Camper, do you think you could even get Marn's accounts unlocked without attracting the attention of the authorities.  The last thing we need is to give away our location to them or to the Taris Academy Masters." Jaken said.

"Well..." Camper scratched his chin.  "I suppose if I had enough time and the right information..."

"I think we can give you enough time," Jaken said.  "What kind of information do you need?"

"The key, access to their server...It'd depend on the place we were breaking into..."

"Marn, where are we breaking into?" Jaken was almost afraid to ask.

Re: Flashpoint

"Telerath," Marn explained.  Jaken remembered that Telerath was a pleasant world owned by the Telerath Interstellar Banking Initiative, which offers first-class financial services.

"How does this go down?" Troy asked.

"Well, Marn's the mastermind," Jaken said, "so I'm sure he'll correct me, but the way I see it, we need to somehow get Camper into one of the buildings on Telerath where he can access their network.  Somewhere private, where he won't be watched.  How we're going to do that..." Jaken thought for a moment.

"We could have him pretend he's a wealthy potential client, or a bank auditor.  Which do you think would work best Marn?"

"Hm...a bank auditor would make them too nervous," Marn said, stroking the fur on his chin.  "A wealthy potential client would have more leeway."

"And I think having Jarael as his secretary would help and I could act as a nephew or something in case we need to mind trick anyone." Jaken added.

"Sounds like a plan," Marn said, clapping Jaken on the shoulder.  "Good job, apprentice."

"Is there any security on Telerath that would make it difficult for us to land there?" Jaken asked.

"Not to land," Marn explained.  "Well, they run a check on the ship, but I'm sure..." Marn said.

"You're sure, what?" Jaken asked skeptically.~

"Surely we can hide our ships identity," Marn asked, looking at Camper.

"I can rig something up," Camper admitted.

"Excellent," Marn said. "Shall we go?"!

"Wait.  We'll need to do more than just hide the ship's identity if we really want them to believe Camper is a wealthy potential client.  We'll have to spruce up the ship to make it look nice.  Or come up with a reason why someone so wealthy would be flying in such a beat-up-looking old ship." Jaken said, now that Marn had mentioned the ship.

"Hm...true," Marn replied.  "And we need money for that.  It's going to take a lot to get this ship looking nice...if only on the outside."

"So we need money to get money.  Great!"  Jaken exclaimed.  "How much do we need to get the ship looking nice?" Jaken addressed both Marn and Camper, figuring that one of them would be the most likely to know.

"No I suppose not," Troy conceded.  Marn stroked the fur on his chin then turned to the navigation charts.  Pinpointing a nearby location he set a course.

"You don't have enough to refit the Last Resort, but you have enough to redesign an escape pod," he explained.  Everyone looked on curiously at Marn.

"What of it?" Jarael asked.

"I have a plan!" Marn replied excitedly.  Everyone groaned.  "No listen!  We'll go to Manaan.  There we set up an underwater tour service using one of our escape pods.  Manaan is neutral so we can stay there indefinitely."

"You've got to be kidding," Troy said, rubbing his forehead.

"Actually, I think it's a good idea," Jarael said, stepping forward.  Everyone looked at her in surprise.  "If we don't have enough money in the first place, using what money we have to make more is our only option.  I say we do it."

* * * *

The Last Resort landed on Manaan without trouble.  Thanks to Marn's hacking skills they were able to change their ID and get by the port authority.  Once planet-side everyone split up to get the various things they needed.  Marn left to get the proper authorization to to run such a service.  Troy and Camper left to get the necessary materials needed to modify the escape pod and Jarael and Jaken left to get food and other necessities.

"Oh, here's the shop."

Jarael and Jaken stopped out in front of a small market.  The two quickly gathered up the food and toiletries then headed to the counter and paid.  Heading back to the ship they were stopped by a stressed looking Twi-Lek businessman.

"I was wondering, would you two be interesting in a proposition?" he asked.

"No," Jarael replied and brushed past.  The Twi-Lek looked on imploringly at Jaken.

Not wanting to be too cruel by adding another remark, Jaken simply shrugs and moves on.
