The First Aeon
How to explain ley lines to the All-Father. Perhaps it was the wrong term, thought Ferenghir. Much like how their moons were inextricably linked, and like how Rhullarrk intrinsically sought to revel in the creation celebration of the moons with a gift that might be one day shared with the inhabitants of Oceaus, there were acts that went beyond words. Perhaps the moons, like the gods, like the creatures, like the Tree, needed names. Celestia the White, Yazul the Blue, and Gael of the Gas. Three siblings, their lives and fates intertwined like that of the gods'.
Ferenghir's face swirled into a small whirlpool as they scooped into the earth of Celestia, filling holes and channels with a silvery, metallic, and viscous liquid that began to fill the lowlands of the moon. This liquid, they would gently shape and imbue in it a sort of life energy, invisible to the naked eyes of the inhabitants of Oceaus yet just as useful as tooth and claw. It was a liquid that, through the absorption of the sun's rays of light, stored the power to transform immaterial thoughts into material results, and through its use, the mortals, in their brief lifespans, might come to obtain some fraction of protection from the world around them. It would be a tool that could bring their hearts' desires to fruition and allow them to connect with others through actions. Dare they say it? Magic. Ferenghir would name this liquid Mana.
Act: Ferenghir fills the brilliant white moon Celestia with a silvery, viscous liquid they call Mana.
And from the reflective earth that they had scooped from the moon, Ferenghir created a race of sentient beings on Celestia. Crystalline sentient beings named Krys who feed off Mana and sunlight find mastery over the liquid pool of Mana from which they are birthed, propelling themselves effortlessly through the low-gravity atmosphere and exploring slowly, as the light and energy from the sun bounces off their refracting crystalline bodies and into their core, feeding them. Truly, the Krys were a mirrored homage to the beauty of Celestia, to the cooperation from the gods and the All-Father that had put everything into being.
Act: Ferenghir creates the sentient crystalline race of the Krys on Celestia.
On the newly named moon of Celestia a liquid called Mana is created, it fills the low places to form rivers, lakes and even oceans. This was not water though. Ferenghir fashioned this substance to be magic. Magic would be a form of influence on the world that introduced new laws upon those natural underpinnings of the Void. Mortals, through manipulation of this Mana could find ways to influence the world in ways previously impossible.
Next, Ferenghir creates the Krys upon Celestia, crystalline people who feed off sunlight. Intelligent like the other races, they observe the world, adapt and change. Of all the mortal races born, the Krys have the easiest existence of any mortal race as they don't even need to seek out nourishment, they feed themselves simply by walking the surface of Celestia. Have no real needs or wants, they spend their days in exploration or their barren rocky world, playing games with one another and dabbling with the pools of Mana they come across.
And while everything goes as intended upon Celestia, the three moons are still, and forever will be, wrath cursed. Upon the newly named Yazul the Blue, changes also occur. Mana similarly springs up here, but where the liquid is silvery on Celestia, on Yazul it forms like sludge, thick and blackened. This Yazul Mana is similarly infused with magic, but of a far less hospitable variety, any who might use the Yazul Mana be careful, this form of magic is wily and contrary. Similarly, on the last moon Gael, Mana also appears, here the liquid is diffused into the gas giant itself so its indistinguishable from the surrounding vapors. Gael Mana is twisted even further, thoroughly dangerous, any mortal who seeks to tamper with this magic will find it a violently dangerous, even malevolent.
And one should not forget that just like the Krys were created on Celestia, misshapen echoes of the act also play out across Yazul and Gael. Neither of these echoes are actually intelligent like the Krys, but on Yazul appear shadows of the Krys, they can mimic and play pranks, but are not truly intelligent. They revel in playing wicked games upon one another, up to and including the occasional killing or maiming of their kin. On Gael the echo is further distorted, only vaguely Krys like at all to begin with, these new mortals are immediately the victims of the Gael Mana which further twists and distorts them, turning them into misshappen monstrosities which now roam the gasses of the moon. Woe be it to any mortals that eventually meet these horrors.
On Oceaus the Enlightened of the Yandee learn of this new for of power, magic, and their minds are set ablaze. In their eyes the only thing that sets gods above mortals is power, and now gods have given them a tool to access great power for themselves. A new guiding goal for the Enlightened becomes a way to access the Mana of the moons so they might find a way to be free of the influence of gods.
