ARMD-07, a.k.a. Ranger, was completed in 2009, just in time for the Launch Day celebrations for the Super Dimensional Fortress One.

The vessel had just embarked on her two month shakedown cruise when Breetai's assault fleet folded into Earthspace and launched its attack against Macross Island.

Though the Armor-class Aerospacecraft Carriers proved somewhat ineffective against the Zentraedi, the emergency call went out regardless, ordering ARMD-07 and her consort - the Oberth-class Guided Missile Destroyer Anarchy - back to Earth posthaste.

When the two ships arrived, they were the first vessels to encounter the three remaining Zentraedi Thuverl-Salan Destroyers left behind from Breetai's pursuit fold. Though the Anarchy was destroyed (ramming one of the Thuverl-Salans and inflicting massive damage), the Ranger managed to hold her own against the remaining two vessels until ARMD-05 and ARMD-03 arrived to lend assistance. Driving off the Zentraedi, the Orbital Battle Group received orders from UEDF Command:

HOLD THE LINE

Though they are sure the outcome is not bright, the men and women of the Ranger are bound and determined to hold fast against the day when the SDF-1 and her crew return to deal with the Zentraedis.
