Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Talamon hit the door activation button and you all filed into the room.  The vast chamber seemed at first to be a place of healing.  Three large tanks filled with bacta, but currently empty of patients, lined the far wall of the room.  But when you looked more closely at the tanks, you could see wear and scratches on the inside of each tank, showing that whatever had been floating in them had tried to claw its way out.  Other medical equipment was distributed haphazardly throughout the area.  The entire room had the same sterile smell as a medical bay.

You heard a voice call out, "What now?"  And you saw at the computer console next to the bacta tanks a male Human dressed in the sterile white robes of a doctor, though the man seemed to be little more than a scientist.  The insignia of the Empire was visible on a patch on each shoulder, but otherwise he looked like a normal medical researcher.  In between you and the researcher was a 2-1B medical droid.  At first the researcher looked annoyed at having been interrupted in his work, but as realization sank in that you were intruders, his countenance changed to one of fear and anger.  He slapped a button on the console in front of him, and pointing at the four of you, ordered, "Attack them, kill them."

It was only then that you noticed the two operating tables with clamps and other restraint devices, laying in the room with no real pattern to their arrangement.  Now that the clamps were released with the researcher's push of the button, a large, strange Felucian arose from each table.  These Felucians had clearly undergone some kind of mutation.  Their muscles bulged and their bodies seemed to bend in unnatural places.  The creatures' right forearms had been removed entirely, and instead a long bone blade extended from the elbow, growing out of the flesh with a ragged, serrated edge.  Thick, tough-looking scales grew out of the Felucians' bodies.

OOC: Roll for Initiative.  Also, note the Game Map for your position and those of your opponents.  Red is for your opponents (MR = Medical Researcher, D = 2-1B, F1 = Modified Felucian 1, F2 = Modified Felucian 2), green is for your allies (C = Connus, T = Talamon, U = Urb'n, J = Jack).

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

OOC: I went ahead and rolled Init for both of you.

Before any of you could react the first mutant Felucian charged Jack, hacking at him with his fused arm blade; Jack was barely able to dodge the blow.

The Imperial medical researcher took advantage of the distraction to sneak off to find cover behind one of the bacta tanks.

OOC: Jack, it's your go.  Note the updated map.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

The creature grunted slightly as most of the energy from Jack's shot glanced off the armor-like scales on his abdomen.

Talamon reached out his hand and both Felucians doubled over in pain as if hit with a giant fist.  The table that the second Felucian had been laying on was crushed and the bacta tank closest to you shattered, spilling its contents across the floor.  "Oops," Talamon said sheepishly at the last two effects that he had clearly not intended.

OOC: Okay Urb'n your turn.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Urb'n pulled out his lightsaber, activated it, and slashed at the Felucian diagonal from him, his lightsaber easily cutting through the creature's armor and nearly dissecting him, ending the Felucian's life.

The remaining Felucian cautiously moved towards the group, and reaching Jack first, attempted to impale him on his bone-blade.  Fortunately the attempt was a little clumsy and Jack sidestepped the blow.

"You attack them too," the medical researcher instructed the droid from his hiding place.  The medical droid attempted to comply with its master's request, but was unable to navigate the slippery floor and fell at Connus's feet.  The droid got back up and Connus tried to push it back down, but almost slipped himself.  Instead he pulled out his blaster and prepared to help with the fight.

The medical researcher pulled out a blaster of his own and attempted to fire at Urb'n, but you could all tell by his aim that he was clearly not qualified to use the blaster, and his shot went nowhere.

OOC: Jack, your turn.  Note the updated map.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

The Felucian was quick enough to dodge Jack's shot, which went just over its shoulder.

Meanwhile Talamon pulled out his lightsaber and moved to flank the Felucian.  Talamon's nimbleness was evident in the ease with which he navigated the bacta-covered floor and when he tumbled beneath the Felucian's sideswipe at him when he went around him.

OOC: Urb'n, your turn.  Note the updated map.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Urb'n slashed at this Felucian with his lightsaber as well, but even with Talamon flanking the creature, he couldn't find his target.

The Felucian slashed back at Urb'n, but he was able to duck the return blow.

The medical droid again attempted to hit Connus, but Connus sidestepped the droid and then nearly took it out with a return blow.

The medical researcher shot Talamon in the back, educing a wince of pain as the shot sliced the side of his abdomen.

OOC: Jack, it's your turn.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

While some of Jack's shot was absorbed by the natural armor plates, the blast still damaged the Felucian.  And when Talamon swung his lightsaber, cutting through the armor, he did enough damage to overwhelm the mutant, and he collapsed unconscious.

OOC: Urb'n, your turn.  The map is basically the same, there's just no F2.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Urb'n moved in on the medical researcher, making sure to stay behind cover.

The medical droid got in a lucky, but ineffectual hit against Connus' upper arm as Connus disabled the droid with another hit, afterwards pulling out his heavy blaster pistol.

The medical researcher fired at Urb'n, but Urb'n deflected it with his lightsaber.

OOC: Okay Jack your turn.  Note the updated map.  I left the droid on the map because it is disabled and not destroyed.

OOC: If Jack wants to move at full speed, he has to make an Acrobatics check to navigate the slippery floor (slick from the spilled bacta).  I forgot to have Urb'n do this, so I'm going to move him back some, note his updated position.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Talamon moved nimbly across the mess he had caused, moving closer, and then charging at the researcher.  His lightsaber slice clipped the researcher's head, taking him out of the fight.

"Well, now that that's done," Connus said, putting away his blaster and wiping his hands together, "let's see what we can't find in here."

"I also have another idea," Talamon spoke up. "Do you think we could fix the medical droid, reprogram it, and send it back to the village?  We promised we would try to help those sick children," he reminded them. (OOC: See msg 28 of the "Felucian Sanctuary" thread.)

"Well I don't see how, none of us has a tool kit, and you would need one both to repair and reprogram the droid," Urb'n pointed out.

"But the Imperials here must have needed to be able to repair it, maybe there's a toolbox somewhere here," Talamon replied.

"We'll look for it while we search for other items we might need," Connus conceded.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

The two lockers on the east end of the room were easy enough to search.  Between the two of them there were 10 medpacs, 2 medical kits, and 10 injectors, each loaded with a serum of some kind.  Finding a tool kit, however did not prove so easy. In the end though, Talamon was so determined to find one, that he scoured the entire room.  He finally found it underneath the computer console on the north side of the room, near where the droid had been when the group had come in.

"Here," Talamon said, handing the kit to Jack.  "Could you please repair, and then reprogram the droid to go back to the village and help with the sick kids?"  Then he turned to Urb'n, "And if you wouldn't mind using one of the medpacs to give me some first aid, I would greatly appreciate it."

"Well look who thinks he's in charge," Connus commented, his tone dripping with sarcasm.  Talamon gave him a dry look, and then turned back to the other two imploringly.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

OOC: So it looks like from your comments, that you intended to have the first roll you listed as the Use Computer roll and the second as the Mechanics roll.  I would have reversed that, as  you need to repair the droid before you can reprogram it.  So assuming that you do what I have just suggested, do you want to use a FP to reprogram the droid?

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Jack was able to repair the droid easily enough, but reprogramming it was proving difficult.

Meanwhile, Urb'n used the medpac to treat Talamon.  It took a few tries (and a few medpacs), but finally Urb'n remembered his first aid training and was able to help Talamon.

Re: Imperial Prison Facility

Jack was able to reprogram the droid so that now it was friendly to them and would obey their orders.

"Now before we send this droid trundling back to the village," Connus said.  "I want to know what the serum in these injectors is."

The droid answered right away, "It is a healing stimulant," he began, "an experimental medical technology of Captain Vischera's own invention.  He has been using them to stabilize the mutants.  The stimulants allow for additional healing, but they put a great deal of strain on the body when active." (OOC: In game terms, each time you use one, you can receive first aid 1 additional time per day, but it moves you -1 persistent step down the condition track, and the persistent condition can be removed only by resting for 8 hours.)
