Hope everyone who observes Christmas secularly or otherwise managed to get all your wrapping done further in advance than I did!

In between family events and preparing for Saturday's goose dinner (all y'all are invited!), I've not had a heck of a lot of free time and not much creative energy when I do.

It's not too late!  Friend me on Facebook and I'll send you an invitation to the group, so you can follow along with the cooking.  Vegetable stock is done, bourbon cranberry sauce is in the oven; soon, I will be starting on the butternut squash soup that, this year, will be made with pumpkin because I have a crap-ton of frozen roast pumpkin left over from when I made pumpkin soup.

 Holiday season is over (for me at least) and I shall resume a normal posting rate momentarily.

So this is a belated Happy New Year to everyone.  Hope all was well with you.  Our holidays were pretty good, with various family gatherings (including goose dinner), traditional Pennsylvania Dutch pork and sauer kraut New Year's Day dinner, my sister (the one with a complete and functioning cerebellum) and her two kids visiting, and the dog settling in (she's getting pretty close to being actually house-trained, knock on wood).

My favorite holiday gift:  The spouse getting up with the dog at 6:00 a.m. the day after Christmas (the day of the goose dinner) so I could sleep in until almost 8:00.  Did you get/give anything that was particularly pleasing?

I think I've responded to everyone who has claimed their holiday gift per the message here, and I've PM'ed everyone who has not.  If there is anyone (other than Arlorian/Aisha) awaiting a response to a PM, please bump the thread so it shows up as unread in my ever-growing list of PMs.

 I enjoy reading Elijah's thread more and more.
